I truly appreciate this translation: Having growth up with King James, followed by Revised Standard, and that rebel Good News edition, I never really grasped the fullness of Christ's teachings until I embraced His faith. What a shocker to comprehend that Jesus was never a Christian! So much of my childhood church culture didn't line up with the Word, and it really took a lot of grace and truth to untangle it—which is why a meaningful version of Scripture makes all the difference.

Admittedly, I'm not so much a fan of this particular edition. The flexible neoprene (or whatever rubbery, not-leather) cover is getting quite worn and tatty after only one year.

Also, full respect to Michael Washer. His dedication and devotion are so obvious in his artwork. He clearly spent many hours in creating these illustrations...that I find to be extremely distracting. I won't dare condemn them until I've taken the time and effort to attempt the same enormous responsibility, but that doesn't negate the fact that I'd simply prefer an edition without them in a binding that withstands active use.
