Read one too many vampire romances? Like your paranormal shifters a little more epic? Well this dragon shifter romance is the book for you!
Humans are on the brink of extinction. A virus has spread, all but ensuring humans can't have male babies. Not feeling to lie down and accept the end of their race, some put together a breeding program in the hope of turning things around.
Human female Elise Knight has been raised as part of this special breeding program, and slated to marry one of several human males who have been supplemented for years. The hope is they would be able to produce a male child. Signs are promising, however as her twenty-fifth birthday approaches, the program is abruptly shut down.
The program is all she knew, but as they say, every cloud has a silver lining. Now Elise finds herself available just in time to be selected as a mate by the sexy dragon shifter Galagus. One of a small group of dragon shifters, perhaps the most powerful creatures in the land. And he wants her!
With the dragons themselves suffering a shortage of females, maybe the two can come in a mutually beneficial agreement...
Warning: this adult paranormal romance is only suitable for over 18s due to hot steamy sex scenes. When reading, please keep a cool glass of water in arms reach at all times.
You can't be serious! And this story is so lighthearted I couldn't take it seriously.
Heroine was hard to take. Whiny, boy crazy, and emotionally immature but apparently intelligent. Thought it was a young adult novel until it started talking about erect male genitalia. The hero grins, chuckles, and has a hot body. Does this inexperienced girl get everything she wants? Yep, with a big stick it to you for those that weren't on board. Their relationship is shallow, entirely focused on physical satisfaction.
Light bantering made up for some of the heroine's thoughts. Other dialogue was boring or irritating. The writing was better than many other romances I have read recently, but not for me.
I won't read this again. I need to read about a mature woman.
Mature content There isn't any BBW information in this story.
There wasn't anything mentioned about a curvy heroine so the BBW must be a typo.
It felt like a big joke--maybe it was supposed to be funny but failed. All the drama is neatly fixed without too much effort. The romance is nonexistent. The heroine is a pouting sex crazed virgin that gets seduced by a chuckling hunk of dragon. They talk but it's all innuendo and then they love each other. Ridiculous. The deflowering made me cringe and the rest of the sex was so-so.
Worst book I have EVER read! It was like some sort of bad joke, or the author was screwing around with us by purposely writing a terrible book. Not to mention it gave me the WORST headache of life.
Elise was a human female designated to carry on the human race if they ever found a cure for a y-chromosome dysfunction in human males. She was getting close to her age of maturity and would soon have to choose a human mate among three candidates. But along comes Galagus, King Nico’s protective guard. He has put off finding a mate for the last twelve years so that he could protect the royal dragons. When he travels with his King and his family to the King of all the other paranormals he comes across his mate. The problem is she is not available to him at this time because she is part of an experiment to propagate the human race back into existence. As Elise and Galagus get to know each other it becomes noticeably that she has fallen in love with him. One of the three human males notices this and tries to force the program in making her mate with him. Of course things don’t go his way and Elise gets her dragon and the change. But other matters come into hand when dragons in England do the unthinkable and kill off all human males. Things are settled but the next chapter of Elise and Galagus’s life will be decided there in the next book as Galagus trains a younger dragon to be the protector of England.
This book felt awkward. I’m not sure if this is part of a series, I didn’t think it was, but it sure feels like it might be. There are so many different characters introduced without much explanation as to who/what their roles in society are. It left me quite confused. The scenes seemed rushed and lacking depth. Even the conversations felt awkward. The scenes reminded me of those corny black and white movies from the 40’s and 50’s with the bad acting and dialogue. I just wasn’t able to immerse myself in this story nor fall in love with any characters.
Ugh I hate to say rating this book hurt my emotions...I didn't hate the book at all. In fact if I could give a rating for creative idea alone that would be high. I mean I wouldn't imagine thinking up a story of the future where humanity is dying out because women aren't able to carry male embryos...
The heat scale of this for me was kind of low. I mean sure there are those initial sparks and fantastic flirtatious moments in the beginning. I'll admit those beginning moments were fantastic! But those were the only moments I can out and out say that I loved. I'm not even sure I could say I would reread those moments for certain hence the two star instead of three.
I felt when we got to what should have been most heated part of the book was where the heat fell flat. The sex scenes weren't descriptive at all...
Grammar wise I think there were a couple errors here and there but not many.
I felt a lot of things that were unknown to the reader could have been further explained. Like what exactly was a Jagger (is that the word? I think that's right)? I kind of figured out it must be the wolf clan but even I am not sure about that.
I had a hell of a time keeping track of characters, probably because some of their names were really out there. Don't get me wrong I am all for creative names but throw too many in the mix and it just leaves the reader confused.
In a word...Horrible! This story lacks focus and is all over the place. The characters are poorly written and there is not a drop of chemistry among any of them. The writing style is obtuse and dispassionate. There is no plot only a bunch of jumbled story topics that lack any conclusion. Definitely not for anyone under 18 but not because this is a hot and steamy romance. There is no steam or heat in the sex scenes and they read sanitized and clinical. This was a free Amazon read for me I wish I had left on the shelf. On my Were Scale of Hotness, -0 stars.
A warning to those that may wish to pick up this book. The writing style was off and seemed like a joke of sorts... (that is the best I can say... ) Immature is another... The style to me seemed YA at best.
Intercourse changes a person (yeah you read that...) into a paranormal... Uh really... Hey it is fiction right so... I will give it creativity.
The book seemed to be lacking in some area like description and flow. Head hoppy and choppy...
Amazon may say this is BBW but there was NO curvy girl or girls in this one.. Just a NO GO kind of read...
This is book 2 in the series. The first book is The Dragon's Captive. I did not realize this and read this book first. I was able to follow along, but it was obvious there was previous information that I was not privy to. Most of the book went well. It felt like it was over really, with an adventure tacked on at the end for length. Not bad, not great. I'm a fan of fate mates, but the insta love here just didn't flow well.
Elise is nearing her 25 th birthday. At that time she has to choose among the five remaining males in hopes to producing males. She has been working with the group to introduce y chromosomes into pregnant females with no success in 40 years. When the king of the dragons comes he brings his protector Galagus. Their is an instant connection between Elise and Galagus. Blue Elise knows her duty. Th I s is where the great story begins. Highly recommend this book.
Started out not so bad but the dialogue just put me off...everyone seemed to be talking in the same tone and for some reason I got that the dragons were supposed to be older but they sounded like teenage boys. Wasn't impressed but pushed my way through...with 1\4 of the book left I couldn't even finish.
The fact that she was willing to pass up her mate to save the human race is admirable . Also I Loved how they can see an upside to something as drastic as the human race ending.
I love how this was set in the future and that the paranormal has become normal in the society. The characters had strong development and personality. Overall I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this author.
After reading the first book I found the story line different when talking about human males. Nicole was a very smart dragon king. By trying to get the deform dragon to learn about their history.
I just couldn't finish this book. The book was too choppy and the formating is off. Maybe it's my version. But I couldn't finish it. It had a good premise but just wasn't delivered well. Sometimes I didn't even know who was speaking.
Some of the story I felt was rushed. It was a good story line. Loved the fact that she felt such a huge pull towards her dragon but refused due to her duty to the human race. Very touching. Thought it ended to awkwardly though.
I thought the book moved very slowly and didn't really get into until near the end of the book. This was the first Dragon Shifter book that I've read. It may have been the premise of the book that humans are going extinct to be replaced by one shifter kind or another.
This might have graphic sex scenes in it, but it's written at about a second grade level. The action is all very stilted, no flow. And the two main characters go from longstanding commitments to sex starved adolescents upon sighting each other.
They should have beat the stuffing out of Keith. I thought he would have tried something else with Elise. I enjoyed this and I hope the queen chooses Meldraka.
DNF. Could not find sufficient interest in the plot to continue with the story. All the characters appeared disconnected and I was unable to connect or care what happens next.
Galagus is kind of a sweetie. At least he didn't force Elise to mate, not like the original dragon captives were forced. I wonder how the force mated vampire women are faring?
