A bodyguard job like no other.
Personal tragedy convinces half-werewolf Alexa York to get away to the town of McCormick, Pennsylvania where she's charged with protecting Dr. Aiden Joss, physician to the supernatural community. This is the first book I've read by this author but I want to read more! I loved her take on the half human half werewolf hybrid lore for Alexa and her plot was fantastic! I won't lie, I was ducking and hiding behind corners, she had me paranoid.
So Alexa, Lex, is our main lady. She's bad ass by the way. She's an assassin but she's taken a job to be bodyguard to a doctor. She and her husband needed a break from a devastation so he went one way and she went the other. She's also beat up, kidnapped, you name it and it happens. Poor Alexa has some trouble here. And he's my only complaint- as I'm a total fan girl of her now- she freaking never listens to her own advice!! She keeps telling everyone to stay safe protect themselves but she goes off all crazy by herself and gets into ten times more trouble- like being beat up twice and kidnapped. Dammit follow your own buddy system hahahaha but it's her mindset, protect everyone else.
The side characters are awesome. Her boss, Dr Joss, he's a special kinda magic and his drunk attitude didn't last for long because he got cooler as he got sober. Her witch friend Claudia is fantastic!! She reminded me of Buffy best friend, always making sure things were researched and taken care of. Sammy is the coolest assistant ever. Dane is my new salivation surprise, I want him!! And last my favorite after Alexa is Gretchen, the leader of the Amazons. She's pretty bad ass herself :)
This story is filled with action, plot twists, heartbreak! I couldn't put it down! I loved it! I now want to read the previous books and I definitely want to see more!! Soon! Please gimme gimme!! Lol with that said- 5 WOLFY PAWS!!

I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in return for a fair and honest review.
This is book 3 in The Hunting Club series and I haven't read any of the previous. Whilst this didn't have much of an impact with the story, I would still nevertheless like to read them, just so that I have a better grip on the characters and their world.
This story starts with Alexa turning up for a job as a bodyguard for a supernatural doctor. Things just aren't ever easy and she ends up embroiled right in the middle of political manoeuvrings and machinations. The Amazons play a big part in this story as Alexa tries to find out just who is behind what.
There are plenty of twists, turns and red herrings in this book, more than enough to keep you entertained. Very well-written and with no plot holes or editing/grammatical issues that I noticed.
For a fun and refreshing paranormal read, I can definitely recommend this one.
