I really like Denver Shaw, I really do, but this book… fell flat for me. Neven was too perfect, too incredible, too patient, too selfless, too forgiving, too giving, too much for me to relate to. He gives his all to his ailing mother for years, and still would have given her more, no complains, no nothing, and I’ve never seen that happen in real life. He’s too good to be true, and that made it impossible for me to even like him. He isn’t snooty or puffed up or thinks he’s the car’s meow, but the fact that he is so perfect… nobody I’ve ever met is perfect, and that allows me to relate to them on some level, understand them, or whatever, whether they are real or fictional. Neven, no. He’s too perfect, too out of reach, too much, too everything, and I couldn’t care at all about him, because of that. But I love Denver Shaw, and will read the next book for sure. Good thing this author I usually love showed me they aren’t perfect either, makes me like them even more.
