Ruthless Reckoning by P. Carreira

This series is absolutely incredible! The writing feels so heartfelt and deliberate in its craft. The author emphasizes that every word has a purpose.
This book genuinely broke me. I even have an Instagram story to prove it. P. Carreira is the queen of cliffhangers, and this book begins with a jaw-dropping one. It’s filled with countless twists and betrayals, along with plenty of intimate family moments that serve as the bright spots amid the darkness. And there is quite a lot of darkness.
War is approaching. I wish it hadn’t, because getting emotionally attached to characters when you know a war is imminent seems foolish on my part. As a reader, I should know better. In a twisted way, that’s what makes me want to read it — the way it managed to evoke such a strong reaction in just one moment was perfect. It added depth and intensity to an already heavy scene—and yes, it was incredibly sad, but it also worked so freaking well. (Still annoyed, though.)
I loved the ending. It was great to see everyone take a deep breath after everything and embrace something pure in their lives.
Do yourself a favour and pick up this series. You won’t regret it.

Ruthless Reckoning for me was soul crushing. The emotional damage is next level. We’ve been building to this through out the whole series and here it is.
I was so not prepared for the what happens next after the cliff hanger ending of book 4. I was enthralled and captivated with every page turn.
Aria and Nick get what seems like 5 minutes of peace to enjoy each other and take a step back to see what they’ve managed to rebuild in the courts and then all hell breaks loose.
Epic battles are fought between courts. Aria and Nick once again proving how strong their bond is and that is what scares many the unknown. No one really knows the power that Aria and Nick hold both together and separately until Calliope returns with answers.
I’m saying nothing else or spoilers will be given.
This series has grown so much through the previous books and I believe the author has grow with it as proven with writing m. There’s passion, real feeling within each of this characters. Some of which I could strangle, some that make me laugh and some that I can resonate with.
I’m obsessed with this series it will always live rent free in my head.

What a journey this series has been!
The first book and the last book were definitely my favs.
I LOVED that the battle wasn't a little blip in the story. There was so much build up to that point, that I was worried it would just be a quick and easy thing and then that would be that. But it was fantastic and full of suspense, and of course grief.
The side characters were just as likeable, if not moreso than the main characters. Their personalities come through with so much ease it's easy to forget they aren't actually our friends too.
The ending/epilogue had me a little confused. The name reveal seemed to be quite delayed, and the epilogue changed to his POV without stating it. It threw me a little.
I'm so glad James didn't end up as an afterthought, and although I am super happy for Ethan's redemption arc I still find it hard to reconcile his likeability with how far and how cold he was earlier.
The Magic system here blended in with the real world is what I love. The constant tensions and suspense keep interest, while the characters keep me invested.
Thanks to the author for the early read. Your ability to put emotions to paper is insane and something that sets you apart from others.

Why am I even surprised? P. Carreira is the queen when you want a book that makes you feel every emotion possible. And this book is not an exception.
This is one of my favorite book series, and probably my only one where I’ve rated every single book with 5 stars.
I don’t know where to begin without spoilers. But We keep following our lovely badass characters, and James makes a return, yay!
If you want to know the struggles, the secrets, how the war is going, who’s enemy and who isn’t, well then you have to read it, but don’t forget to start with the first book, Broken Blood.

This was a fitting conclusion to a series that has steadily grown in both scope and emotional depth with every book.
Everything the previous books have been building toward finally comes to a head. The stakes have never been higher, but even in the middle of conflict, the story never loses sight of the people at its heart. Every choice carries weight, every victory comes at a cost, and every loss is given the space it deserves.
Hope remains woven throughout the story, reminding us that even after unimaginable hardship, there is still room to rebuild, to heal, and to look toward the future.
A heartfelt finale that brings this journey to a satisfying close while honoring everything these characters have endured.

I'M OFFICIALLY RUINED. I have no idea how I made it through the book because I next thing I know it's 4 AM and I don't know what to do with my life. Meaning it was mind-blowing. Meaning that I loved it so much that I was bawling my eyes out. Meaning I didn't want to let go of this series. These characters have a hold on me and I'm happy that I get to experience each and every aspect of their life. It's not just a story, it's a fantasy mix with love and healing. So I want to say thank you so much to the author that I get to finish this series. And all I am hoping for is that in the future I get to be revisiting this world again. And the best part the next book is nothing like I've read before.

This was the perfect ending to an amazing series! The plot twists, the final battle, that ultimate WTF moment during Chapter 28 (I'm still not okay with it), just everything was so good!
I loved seeing how much Aria and Nick grew throughout the series, both individually and in their relationship. I also loved that all of my questions were answered and that we got to see everyone's story come to an end, including the side characters.
I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion to their story.
I highly, highly recommend this series to anyone who loves dark fantasy romance with fae, vampires, emotional trauma, banter, plot twists, and major "touch her and die" vibes.

This has been such a fantastic series filled with love, heartbreak, growth and magic.
This final book brought everything together in such an epic conclusion with nothing left unsaid. There was moments of tension, heartbreak, plot twists but it was equally balanced with moments of softness, love and friendship.
It really felt like everything led well to the final showdown and it was the perfect book to showcase the character arcs and development of them all.
The world is politicized and the communities grow and move and have the difficulties you can see in the real world but peace and justice and leading with kindness is shown.
I will miss this world.

This latest book in the Hollow Blood series is another emotional roller coaster that keeps you on your toes from beginning to end. If you've been following the series and have become as attached to the characters as I have, make sure you keep a box of tissues nearby—you'll definitely need it. Ive list the plot . This book series is just gold. I am obsessed with the power trips in this book. I was emotionally destroyed throughout but the ending killed me , tears didnt dry up and my heart broke. After finishing Ruthless Reckoning by P , I feel like I went through the wringer a few times. I was on the edge of my seat for the first half of the book , so much was going on, then the emotional damage happened and I just don’t know what to do with myself . I don’t cry with books , only a handful have made me cry . This one ? Definitely shed a few tears.

Four months later, the tension is high. There are traitors, OMG moments, violence that might make you laugh a little, things that will have you ugly crying, and moments that will have you yelling at the pages.
And then everything comes together. There’s an HEA..well, mostly.
I honestly don't have the words for how good this book made me feel. I don't know what else to say except if you haven't read this series, you're missing out. It has easily become one of the best series I've ever read, and I already know it's one I'll come back to again and again. ❤️

Oh my God 😱 what a series finale!
After the cliffhanger of the previous book, I really wasn't expecting the new revelations in this one. It was an emotional rollercoaster. We had funny moments, sad moments, and moments that kept us on edge.
The final battle was absolutely perfect; there was so much buildup and it didn't disappoint, it was amazing. I am simply speechless trying to describe this series finale, I wouldn't change a single thing. Ummm... I mean, maybe one tiny "huge" detail? But I understand that that event was something important.
I'm going to be thinking about this series for a long time and I can't wait for the next project.

This one is a close runner up to Broken Blood for being my favorite. Of course some parts absolutely crushed me to pieces but it was very fitting to the storyline. If you haven’t dove into this series yet you really should!

This book shattered me into pieces 😭 This is the 5th book in The Hollow Blood Series, it continues off the cliff hanger from Tainted Truths. You follow Aria and Nick preparing for the battle ahead. I'm going to be honest it took awhile for me to beable to write a review for this book after finishing it. I had to quite literally collect myself to type it. From the character depths and the emotional connection you grow throughout this series with the characters its an emotional attachment that you will never forget. The writing in this series is impeccable and vivid from the world building to the even the side characters having so much depth and backstory that shows that they have a life beyond just the pages written. This is a Dark Fantasy series that I hold close to my heart and has quickly became one I'll never forget. If you love Vampires, Fae, Found Family, and a love that's strong enough to hold an entire realm in its hands for the future of there family and friend's then this is the read for you. Highly Recommend!

I've said it before and I will say it again, P promises the emotional damage and she delivers! Ruthless Reckoning is unbelievably good! Oh my god! The emotional devastation and the characters as a whole had me losing my ever loving mind. This series has been such an amazing ride and I can't wait to see what is in store for the ending!
