When Scotland Yard officer Glynis Fox finally manages to capture notorious jewel thief The Shadow, she has her reasons for locking him up in her ancestral home instead of a regular prison. The Shadow stole her ailing mother’s pearls, and Glynis has sworn an oath to get them back. At any cost.
Forcing the gentleman burglar to retrieve the gems, however, proves more dangerous than she thought… for The Shadow seems determined to lay claim to a property even more valuable than the family jewels: the policewoman’s heart.
Thomas Spencer is not having a good day. First his latest score, a seven million pound diamond, is taken from him. Then he’s abducted and held at gunpoint by a crazy policewoman. Now he needs to use all his skills to escape her clutches unscathed. Soon, however, he finds himself falling for the attractive cop, and even question his own vocation as premier supplier of priceless gems to London’s wealthiest Russian oligarchs.
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
Elegant, witty, and masterfully written, this adventure of white-glove thievery and righteous revenge will delight anyone looking for a fun, smart and sexy comedy of errors. The plot moves along a light mood and a fast pace that starts with the male character flaunting off his considerable talent at stealing jewelry from the very rich in London. Thomas Spencer is a professional, a smooth talker and with a debonair style that rivals that of James Bond. What's funny is how he finds himself entangled with not one, but two women who blackmail him into using his criminal skills to their whim.
I really enjoyed the dialogues which are lively and convey all the characters' personalities in such an entertaining fashion. The convoluted plot is equally hilarious and playful with all the techniques for robbery, the glamour of this romanticised profession, the danger of dealing with Russian masters.
Even though Glynis, a Scotland Yard cop, finds herself yielding to her sensual weakness for the reprehensible thief she hates much too quickly, the steamy scenes they share are quite delectable.
I absolutely loved a surprising plot twist at the end, and the tour the main couple embark on to find an elusive pearl necklace. However, the light mood and funny tone went too far for my taste with the excessively cheesy romance the two characters suddenly found themselves falling for. Even in a novella, characters shouldn't fall in love in two days. I could accept an intense chemistry that's open for future possibilities. Despite that, I had a lot of fun reading this sexy, dynamic adventure that kept surprising me at every corner.
Stolen jewels and stolen hearts in this fun heist book
After a heist goes awry, skilled jewel thief Tom Spencer tangles with not one but two beautiful, determined women. Each wants something from him, and they intend to get it-whether he is willing or not.
Glynis Fox is a Scotland Yard detective pursuing "The Shadow," who wants Tom to return the heirloom pearl necklace that he stole from her ailing mother, and Jennifer Crocket is the bored 18-year-old daughter of the second richest man in the UK who blackmails Tom into teaching her his safe-cracking skills. Of course, everything does not always go as planned--hearts can also be stolen.
It's a bit different in theme from the Russian Enforcers series, but this book is still sexy and fun. I liked the three Enforcer books, and like this one even more. While it doesn't feature the same characters in the Enforcer series, it is likely the same universe.
These aren't dark romance books. They're books perfect for giving you a few hours away from real life problems.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
I recently started following nic saint's novels, in part due to ARC's and then simply because the books captivated me. however, the Russian Oligarch's Tenacious Lover wasn't one of my favorites. to say that there was full out action like you would find in either the petrov or Russian enforcer's series would be a lie. seeing as how this a new series, we find ourselves introduced to three characters: the burglar, the apprentice with eyes for none other than her mentor, and the cop wanting to avenge her mother who was wronged by said burglar. little by little we learn how each character fit in the story, but I sadly found myself having troubles keeping my attention on the story itself. however, I NEVER would have guessed the ending, which literally had me sit up from my cozy bed, wondering if I could ever have guessed it. to this day, I still don't know. considering we're still on the Russian side of things, which have some connections to nic saint's novels, I still recommend reading the Russian Oligarch's Tenacious Lover.
The author has produced another excellent story with an unusual twist towards the end of the book, which I found quite intriguing. Glynis, a policewoman, is out for revenge after discovering The Shadow (Tom), a known thief, has stolen something personal from her Mother. Outwitting Tom on two occasions, he finally succumbs and agrees to “steal back” the pearls for her, with the help of Jennifer, a wanabe thief. Tensions rise when the two women vie for Tom’s attentions, but who is he interested in. While attending Rostislav Mamykin annual ball, in an attempt to locate and steal back the pearls, certain developments ensue which take a turn for the unexpected. A well written and interesting story, which I would have no problem recommending. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. What a wonderful story, full of suspense and intrigue, with a twist of romance and a dash of love, all rolled up together, only to have you turned around and wonder, what happened? Nic has pulled this one off, just as the main character, Thomas, completes his heists. The plot tends to keep you on your toes as it weaves around different curves, mainly those of Glynis and Jenn. You definitely need to read to follow the antics of the trio as they embark on the most important challenge of all time, as each discovers hidden gems amongst themselves. Have I piqued your curiosity yet? I hope so. This book will make you laugh at times, and reflect on others. An awesome read. I loved it.
This book was given for a honest review. I took a little bit to get into this read. The book after the first few chapters caught and held me. The twists and turns in the plot were amazing. Tom is a great character, robber not so much. He not only got caught by one but two women. Jenn a rich 18 year old that doesn't know much and Glynis a copper for the local police. The attraction Tom has for Glynis is enough to stop his life a crime. The take back of family gems is to help her mother was is basically dying of a broken heart for their lost. The identity of who Tom really is floors me big time didn't see that coming. must read
Thomas Spencer is a thief. He had stolen a necklace of pearls from the Fox family which meant a great deal to the mother Lydia. Due to this thief it had caused a declining in her health which really crushed Sir Hugh Fox (the husband) and Glynis Fox (the daughter.
Glynis Fox was a detective of Scotland Yard. She was determined to get the pearls back for her mother, even if it meant capturing Thomas Spencer. What she did not know is the journey this would take her on.
Would the Fox family get back the stolen pearls? Will Thomas win Glynis’ heart? What secret does Thomas have that will surprise Glynis? All good questions and worth reading book to find out.

Russian Oligarch’s Tenacious Lover by husband and wife writing team Nic Saint, was sent to me for an honest review. This is an entertaining, light read about Tom, a very charming master thief and Glynis, a Scotland Yard officer. Tom had stolen Glynis’ mother’s pearl necklace. Glynis followed and captured Tom which results in the two working together to recover the necklace. In the process, Glynis and Tom fall for one another.
This is a short story, full of mischief and fun. I recommend the Russian Oligarch’s Tenacious Lover to anyone who likes mystery and romance minus the angst.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. In this book we meet Tom and Glynis. When this book starts out we find Tom in a house about to steel a diamond out of there safe. After the crime is committed Tom leaves for his hotel and is pepper sprayed by a woman who then steels the diamond he has just stolen. Later Tom finds out this woman was none other than Glynis who is also a woman that he has stolen from before. There are many ups and downs and who Tom really is will be an amazing twist to the end of the story. I would recommend this book to anyone it is amazing.
Glynis is a Scotland Yard officer. Tom is just a thief, the best there ever was. He stole a pearl necklace 3 yrs ago, belonging to her mother, who is now towards her death bed and a father who may follow after. Tom is trying to chnage his tune and wants to help her. Will he be able to get the necklace and the girl? Or will he be stuck in this cat and mouse game.
Talk about an odd romantic pairing, a Scotland Yard detective and a notorious jewel thief. This latest romance from author Nic Saint just proves there is a very fine line between love and hate. There were a few twists and some humorous elements in the story that were rather unexpected. Definitely recommend this short romance that is the start of a new series.
Great start to a new series. Glynis Fox works for Scotland Yard and when she catches her jewel thief, it is personal. The Shadow aka Tom stole her Mother’s pearls and she wants them back, so what is a jewel thief to do? Steal them back of course. Great read, the characters are excellent the story very entertaining and I am looking forward to more in this series.
I found this book to be a fun romantic read that was entertaining, suspenseful and contained a few twists. Glynis and Tom are likable characters that meshed well with each other. While I did find the book intriguing, I didn't enjoy it as much as the Russian mob series. Overall for me an okay read. Received an ARC copy for a honest review.
This book will keep you on your toes and make you laugh in a few spots. A thief and cop who end up working together, and in the process a love forms between the two. This is a quick read and has a HEA ending so you won't be disappointed.
Thomas has women all over him just not in the way he ever imagined. One wants him to teach her. The other wants her necklace back. How will he fix this?
