She has done it again. I love this one a much as the rest. Well maybe a bit more since I'm totally crushing on Don-Don. He's got it all, the uniform, OCD, the well deserved cocky arrogance, patience of a saint, and all around good guy.
I really can't think of a single thing I didn't adore about this book. It really has it all, hysterics, hijinx, shenanigans, all the way to major ugly cries.
Janet can do no wrong, lol, other than keep me waiting for the next book.

My review:
This was the cutest story about a girl named Jena who moves to a small town in Scotland. She is my kind of woman. You see, she was dating this loser for about 4 years and after everything she did for him (bailing him out of debt multiple times and sticking by him and EVERY STUPID new job idea) she finds out that the new strip club that he is managing? Yeah, you guessed it! He is sampling the merchandise if you know what I mean. Now Jena is a famous Go-Go dancer (which I thought was cute and unique) so what does she do? She sells EVERYTHING, including Frank's (douchey name right?) refurbished old car, takes the money, goes on a holiday in Paris and buys a home in Scotland where she plans to live.
So now in Scotland everything seems to be going fine. Even though the home she bought ... is kind of ... well is REALLY a dud, she is having fun fixing it up and meeting the locals. Jena is very beautiful and the men just seem to be falling all over themselves to ask her out. She is such a nice person, that she agrees but with every date comes a new disaster and hence her nickname of Calamity Jena LOL.
The sheriff in town and our hero, Matt was getting bored with his job. You see, he is TIRED of getting bogus calls to find one of the local's missing cat, that isn't really missing??? And now that Jena is in town, she is beginning to be a new thorn in his side, even though she is SO beautiful. Matt is definitely busy with his job, but also his dad has Alzheimer's so he is also busy being the man of the house - to his mother and twin sisters.
Anywho, like I was saying, Jena is loving life right now - that is until she walks out of the hardware store and sees her ex-boyfriend Frank has followed her to Scotland, but not only that, he has two goons with her. This leads to her claiming "sanctuary" in the local church and the involvement of Matt in her life.
Their story was super cute and very low drama/angst. Also, there is a secondary love story of one of the "goons" who really isn't a goon and Matt's sister, Claire. It was SO freaking cute and 100% safe.
After reading this book, I could definitely see myself going back and reading a couple of this author's earlier works in this series, but also (pending safety) hopefully reading the next in this series which would be Abby and Flynn. I don't know much about Flynn in this book, but I am hoping it will be safe because it's a single parent romance and those are my favorite. Not to mention, the little girl is SUPER CUTE!!! ;D

Janet has done it again! I've been impatiently waiting for this next installment in the Invertary series, counting the days until its release. In this action-filled, laugh out loud rom-com, Invertary is shaken up yet again by a visiting American ex-go-go dancer, Jena. Wherever she goes, it seems, chaos is sure to ensue. Not that she means it to, of course. Unfortunately, her mishaps haven't gone unnoticed by the entire town, and they've given her a catchy nickname: Calamity Jena. There's even a betting board in the town's pub, where pint-drinkers can place bets as to what they think Jena's next catastrophe will be.
But when Jena's ex, Frank, shows up in Invertary, determined to get her to go back to America, catastrophe is too mild a word. Now, Jena's life is in danger because of Frank and his goons, and the man who steps up to the challenge of keeping her safe is Invertary's only police officer, Matt Donaldson.
Just when small town life is getting to Matt, making him want to move to a bigger city with more action, the gorgeous and danger-unto-herself American has him working overtime as her protector. He has to keep reminding himself that Jena is just a job, especially when his mind wanders--and wonders--thinking about the effects of just being near the accident-prone woman has on him and his libido. Will Matt be able to keep things professional while making sure his charge stays safe? Will Jena be able to stay out of trouble?

The secondary romance was more fun that the main one, but still overall enjoyable.
Jena is accident prone. Early in the story local cop Matt says to Jena “men have a tendency to get injured around you.” Another scene had Matt thinking “he’d seen her during the aftermath of many a disastrous date.” All those prior dates and injuries were skipped as if they were a back story I knew nothing about. And I read the previous books. It wasn’t in them. I wish the author would have given us examples or short scenes of that. I felt I was missing part of the story.
I loved the secondary romance between Grunt and Claire. Really charming.
The main romance is Jena and Matt. It was good. But I was more impressed with the story than the romance. I’m not complaining about the romance. It just wasn’t as much fun as the Grunt and Claire romance.
I was impressed the author used NO stupidity.

I was surprised because so many other authors doing the same scenes would have used stupidity. This author thought it through and did it better.

Just the right Mix of everything
I had already laughed out loud several times by Chapter 9. This book was fun, with low angst and a lot of happy! I can’t wait to read about the rest of Invertary’s crazy citizens.

A break up with her long term boyfriend after his extracurricular activites with the staff members at his new strip club, Jena sold everything, bought a house in Invertary on the internet and flew across the pond to resettle in Scotland after a brief foray in Paris. Now with a house in disrepair, few funds to pay someone to renovate and few DIY skills but a pink toolkit, Jena is struggling to make her place and find a way to support herself in her new home.
Enter Frank with two enforcers in charge, Joe and Grunt, and his determination to bring Jena “back home”. Deciding to take refuge in the local church, the town’s only officer, Matt, is sent in to talk her out. When he sees what a state Jena is in, and her belief that the enforcers with her ex Frank are from the New Jersey Mob, he decides to use his friend’s talents and his own stubborn determination to get to the bottom of things. Oh, and provide round the clock bodyguard services for Jena until they get Frank gone.
Now, Jena is adorable- with plenty of her own baggage. A mother who was less than ideal, an unknown father, a cheating ne’er do well ex and a huge heart. She’s so against hurting people who are bold enough to ask her out, that she never says no to a first date. Unfortunately, these dates often end in disasters: so much so that there is a running betting board on the ‘next’ disaster to befall one of her dates.
While Matt is adorable, he’s also a control freak with an aversion to chaos and a serious interest in Jena. But, no interest in a relationship. But when things go left (and around the corner, down the hill and into a ditch) and the ‘goons’ with Frank actually turn out to be the good guys, Jena and Matt actually have moments to see just how right they are for one another.
I really enjoy the playfulness and fun in this series – the touch of humor that is more than offbeat, characters and situations that seem just too out there to be true, until someone is JUST like another you know, you’ll want to read on even if people are wondering why you are laughing. Grab this series for some lighthearted laughs and fun.

Calamity Jena is a hilarious, heart warming story that pulls you in and leaves you feeling warm and squishy on the inside.
It has a clumsy heroine, and more than one macho alpha male, with the "mine" syndrome. The story is wonderful with adventure, drama, some spicy romance, and of course lots of laughs. Really enjoyed this book! Jena is a really fun character and I loved how her relationship built with Matt, it felt very real.

I've been trying to find books with unique characters, and I think I found them in the world of Invertary by Janet Elizabeth Henderson. The writing is funny, built with care and affection. She transports you to a small town and make you interested in everyone interactions.

Jena is adorable, FUN, clumsy and very lost. Maybe because I'm trying to find my direction in life right now, but I feel you girl.
Matt is hilarious, hot police man who's the perfect savior. He kinda has a OCD problem and yes, he's overprotective when he wants but omg they make a good pair.

Another fun light hearted romance from Janet Elizabeth Henderson. I like Jena & Matt and all the whole town of quirky, nosy characters. I really enjoyed Matt's twin sisters too, especially their first meeting with Grunt. As I came to JEH thru her Bensen Security series (which is a spin off from this one) it was amusing to meet some of the players before that time, especially Meghan.

No my favorite book of the series based in this awesome Scottish town but enjoyable nonetheless. The heroine is new inn town and is a disaster when it comes to dating. Our hero Matt is a cop and all around good boy, so when the heroine's ex comes calling he assigns himself as her protector. The romance was the weakest link in this book but I loved everything else, even Grunt and Matt's sister Claire's crazy story.

3.5 Betting Board Stars. This is the fourth book in the Invertary series. Goody Two Shoes is still my favorite, but this one upholds the standard. Jena fled Atlantic City looking for a new life. Well, OK, let’s be honest, she was trying to find somewhere her snake of an ex-boyfriend would never in a million years find her. That’s how she ended up in Invertary. Matt, aka Don-Don, is Invertary’s only police officer and he’s looking to get out. He’s tired of the most exciting part of his day being when he gets to retrieve Morag’s cat from a tree. Jena starts out as a simple bodyguard type assignment and ends up as so much more. He's not sure he'd call it excitement, but it's certainly not boring! Calamity Jena is lighthearted fun and pure entertainment….at Jena’s expense, of course.

It was cute
The interrogation from the twin was over the top and I could have done without it. Some of the Americanized sayings weren’t American which does take me out of the reading mode when I am sucked in generally. But the story was funny and definitely has the makings of a saucy hallmark movie

A charming story of Matt's HEA. Although the best parts were with Claire and Megan, especially the one with unconscious Grunt, I almost peed in my pants from the laughing.
Sadly, at the end it started dragging.
Still, I love Henderson's style, I have a great time, and I don't need to make a break from her yet (which is a good sign).

A book or a story doesn't have to change the world, a writer just being able to change someone's day can make a huge difference. The Invertary Series has given me something to look forward to during a long and not very pleasant summer.

With all the chaos that is happening around us at the moment, I decided I needed something lighthearted and fun to read. So I picked this up... and boy am I glad I did. I giggled reading about poor Jena's antics. Not to mention Matt, and of course Grunt. You always know you've got it right when you can laugh out loud along with the characters.
Set with a backdrop of Scotland's Invertary, Officer Matt Donaldson is kinda swoonworthy, even when his sisters give him hell. And Jena... well, she's Jena.
I haven't laughed along with a book so loud since I first picked up Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum, so it's awesome to have found another author with an equal sense of humor.
Looking forward to reading more of Janet Elizabeth's Invertary series.

I was hesitant to read this book because New Jersey go go dancer didn't really appeal to me as a heroine, but after reading about Jena in later books I decided to give it a try and was glad I did. Jena is not an idiot, and she is not a stripper, despite her penchant for wearing tacky shoes and clothes. She is a little over the top compared to the other heroines of the series, but she has a good heart. Matt can be a little much - he thinks he's a lot more alpha than he really is. Still, he's a fun character and he loves his family. It's fun to learn about Joe and Grunt. Grunt is equally over the top in this book, but he's quite enjoyable in the later ones and I really wanted to learn how he and Claire started. As usual, the town is crazy and there are plenty of shenanigans.

Love, Family and Home
Janet always manage to make every story to be full of humor. But this one's a good combination of not just romance and love but also about family and a sense of home. I felt Jena's strong desire for things that meant more than money and game and Matt's strong sense of responsibility and his devotion and commitment. Even Claire and Grunts story is solo entertaining. Good story!

Loved
That was a load of fun. I can’t get enough of the Donaldson twins. But Matt and Jena were the stars of this book and boy did they shine. Each book so far, I’m think the man can’t get any hotter or sexier than the previous one, and then I’m left in a puddle of hormones, because WOW. Matt was seriously oozing the sex appeal. Can’t leave out Jena. So sweet and nice and sexy in her own ways, because Go-Go dancer. Just a great book all around.

I'm in love with Invertary and its inhabitants!!
WHY I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE IS A MYSTERY TO ME!
I've read 2 book in this series so far and I want so much more!
The writing is GREAT.
With this book I laughed a lot and even the serious moments, were written beautifully.
I absolutely loved Jena & Matt and they are surrounded by AMAZING secondary characters and relashionships.
Among those, "Grunt" & Claire's relationship was so fun to read about!
Their first meeting was hilarious and "Grunt" going all caveman on her brought up a "Finding Nemo" reference...

An emotional rollercoaster that you can't put down.
Not many books have the ability to make you laugh like crazy then cry your eyes out like a big baby but Calamity Jena achieved this for me. I already love Janet Elizabeth Henderson stories as they never fail to give me a good laugh and this book didn't disappoint. The crying part came from the amazing way the author was able to describe a death experience so well and all the emotions that come with a death in the family. The author just has an amazing way of making you feel like you are a part of the story and truly experiencing every emotion and experience along with the caracters. I didn't want to stop reading this book and ended up staying awake all night just to keep reading because it is just that good. I recommend this whole series just be prepared for lack of sleep, lots of laughs and yes some bawling till your hicuppimg crying. Once you read one of the Scottish Highlands Invertary series you will be a fan of Scotland, Janet Elizabeth Henderson and her cast of crazy characters that become like family to you. Happy Reading!

Jena now lives in Scotland (she moved there in a whim, trying to escape her ex who is in the mob), & it seems that all the men are falling all over themselves to go out with her, despite how all her dates end badly (one man even ended up on fire on their first date).
She is slowly trying to renovate her new home, but doesn't have much money at all. Then her ex comes back, but Jena refuses to go back with him.
Matt's simple job of being a police officer becomes more complicated as he tries to keep her alive, while at the same time try to keep his distance from her.
“I said the whole body is an erogenous zone - if you know what you’re doing.”
“Which implies you know what you’re doing.”
“Yeah, right.”
“I’m serious. (...) I’m different. I can make you hot without going near any of your more obvious erogenous zones. I am that skilled.”
The little side romance between Claire & Grunt was quite entertaining.
I really liked the ending of the story, & I loved their cute little town.

OMG! Wonderful!
No matter how many good things I say about this book, I could never do it justice. First, I'll start with the easy part. It's real!y well written. This is one of the most emotional books I've ever read. Happy emotions, along with sad ones, with some excited ones mixed in, made this a tear-jerker in parts. Many times I had tears clouding my eyes. Jena: scatter-brained, accident-prone, and adorable, with a zest for life. Matt: steadfast, serious, strong, with a desire for some excitement. Jena never had a family; Matt has family in spades. Two different people. Can they be and she g item? How about with Jena's ex trying to take back to the United States from Scotland. The dialog in this book is simply outstanding. The story has all the elements to keep a reader turning the page. There is romance, comedy, thrills, and intrigue. It's a tremendous book. Loved it.

Hilarious, Sexy, and Heartwarming
In book 4 of this series, we have Matt, a regular from the previous three books and the sole Police officer of the quirky Scottish town of Invertary, and Jena. Recently moved from the US, the former go-go dancer is an accident waiting to happen, or an accident in progress, depending on which page you're on. She combines this with an adorable optimism that makes you root for her, despite yourself.
Normally, they'd be no way Matt would spend any more time with Jena than he absolutely had to; he's busy enough writing police reports about the guys who get accidentally injured on first dates with her. to want to add more trouble to his life. But then Jena's mob-connected ex-boyfriend shows up in town and Matt, as the only law in town, is obliged to protect her. She soon gets under his skin and the cop who has sworn off relationships is struggling to keep his distance.
The books up to this point in the series all have secondary romances, another couple whose relationship is shown in parallel, often as a means for more humor, and occasionally to help the main romance plot move forward. Calamity Jena has the most hilarious secondary romance arc of the series. No spoilers, but laugh out loud hilarity is ensured.

Jena just wanted to belong. Trouble is, too many men wanted her to belong to them. There was Frank, her ex-boyfriend who got in bed with the mob and then got in bed with the strippers at 'his' strip club. Then there was Matt, the one-man police force in the small Scottish town of Invertary, where Jena had gone to get away from Frank. Frank wants Jena back, but she doesn't want to go on his terms. Matt is determined to protect her - and to make her his.
There are laugh-out-loud moments that make Calamity Jena just plain fun to read. And there are moments of sadness and grief and, of course, romance. Will Jena ever feel like she really belongs - on her own terms?

Plot and events not believable, characters leaning towards caricatures, ending is predictable but it was fun to read. It’s written with humour which prevents it becoming awfully siropy than most of the books in the series of young attractive ladies escaping to seaside inn / far-away ranch / remote town / or returning to home town and finding THE man.
Once in a while one needs light reading that makes you laugh and giggle and this book fulfills that promise.
