Part 3 of Jameson Hotel continues with the mysterious box left at Mark’s garage door. As we learn, it is a signature method previously used by Mark’s father to deliver a message. Once the contents of the box are learned, Mark’s mission to hunt and kill is stronger than ever. In carrying out his purpose, Mark and Jules continue to strengthen their bond physically and emotionally. The continual progression of their relationship was a key factor in this novella, as it allows the reader to learn so much more about Mark’s past and reasons for how he lives. Jules is still proving to be a worthy equal to Mark both in and out of the bedroom. When he presents her with her own engraved and personalized blade, it is quite symbolic of their unique union.
The family dynamic continues to intrigue me as more is revealed about each character. As Mark finishes his “job” of protecting his family, the motivation about why he must kill starts to become the question. Can Mark stop? Can his urges be met in other ways? Does being a “Jameson” doom him to a certain lifestyle?
“Would the voice in my head be silenced? That’s what I search for with each kill, and maybe this is the one.”
If you are looking for a dark themed read sprinkled with dark humor and kinky sex, this series is for you! I look forward to reading more about Mark in the next three books because there is so much to be learned about his past and his future. Books 4-6 are scheduled for public release late 2015.
Mark Jameson is a hotelier with a dark past and an even darker present. He has a secret life with urges he cannot control. At least, he believes he has it all under control and even rationalizes his actions. In this first episode, we discover how Mark’s family relationships shaped his urges and his and needs, but Mark cannot escape his past and must be on constant guard to protect himself and his family. To further complicate Mark’s life, he tries to enter a normal relationship with Julia; however, is she part of the forces that he is trying to insulate himself from?
In this first episode, I liked learning about Mark. He is a complex character fighting his inner demons and I do want to know more! As for Julia, I am not convinced of her motives and if she can be trusted. The story is a good one though I wish it had a little more grit to it. I also want to delve more into Mark’s dark actions and motivations.
This is a new author to me and I do want to finish this series to see just how this plot develops. At the end of episode one, I’m left with many questions and I’m very interested to find the answers!
In part two, the story opens with the continuation and the ramifications of Mark’s latest bloody actions. Mark will not be deterred until Dayne and his accomplice are permanently removed thereby ensuring his family’s safety. Since the situation became a little more involved, Mark needed Cove’s (brother-in-law) assistance and that only added tension to an already strained relationship. Additionally, Mark and Jules forged a common understanding of the situation and Mark’s tendencies. I was pleasantly surprised at her reaction to the scene of events, and in some demented way, she is now more endearing to me. While I still don’t completely trust her motivations, she is starting to show that she may actually be a well-matched partner to Mark.
In addition to the debauched and depraved, Mark is sharing all his deviously sexy ways with Jules and she is quite accommodating to his kinky needs. Score another point for Jules! Being the former porn star, Marcus Wild, Mark is physically capable and has no limits as to his sexual cravings and proclivities.
“Well, it’s your lucky day. A princess in cuffs about to get fucked in the ass is definitely worth getting worshipped.”
The family dynamic between Mark, Sophia (sister) and Cove is beyond fascinating. The topics discussed over family meals are even more interesting, as Jules quickly learns that mental asylums, porn stars and threesomes is the preferred theme for dinner conversation.
”Don’t you love how nonchalant they are about all this shit? This entire table is full of dispassionate asshats.”
Mark’s family history is sad and beyond disturbed, but it’s like rubber necking upon viewing a car accident or a crime scene, I want to see/read all the gruesome details. Without having read the Nova series and not knowing just how evil Mark’s father may have been, it doesn’t take long in this series to establish that Paul is a fucking psycho! But, we continue to learn more about Mark’s past and just how his father’s transgressions are still impacting Mark’s life. I am curious to see how Mark can move from his past and if it is even possible at this point. However, a part of me doesn’t want to see him change.
I must say that every plot element is continuing to develop in such dark and intriguing ways. At the end of part one, I was curious but not fully hooked by the character growth and plot pace, but now I am completely invested. While reading, I am totally lost in the eerie atmosphere of this plot. With the discovery that this is a six-part novella series, I can relax and look forward to reading all that is wicked in Mark’s world.
Welcome to my hotel ~ Mark Jameson a sexy, cocky dark twisted man.
Jameson Hotel ~ The Dark Suite series is an amazing dark twisted read, loved Mark, Juila and reading about Cove, Sophia and the terrible twins.
Mark Jameson is haunted by his past and his need to be loved by his father but against all his demons he finds his soul mate in more ways than one ~ Julia.
Julia starts off almost shy, quiet, sweet and innocent. However, Julia's love and passion for Mark soon develops unfolding a much darker side to young Julia.
The past comes to haunt Mark and his family and he will do anything to protect those he loves.
Aven Jayce has a unique style of writing in such a dark, twisted, violent and hot dirty sex filled book she still manages to inject her wicked sense of humour and I found myself laughing throughout this book...
Mark ~ "Women you can't live with 'em and you can't cut them in half and keep their lower torsos to f**k because they start to smell after a few days"
I highly recommend this series ~ WELCOME TO THE FAMILY PRINCESS
I really enjoyed this series Loved Julie and Mark dark themes in some places loved the Banter and how Julie was Marks match such a good story Loved Cove and Sophia and the boys The boys cracked me up such a great read if you loved The NOVA Trilogy you are going to love this one Hope we might get some more would be great
Originally I wrote, "I'm sorry, I feel like I'm missing something," and apparently that something was the humor tag. Going back and looking at this through different eyes, I have a totally different opinion. I wouldn't call it dark, though it has dark elements for sure, and the eroticism that it does have is heavy on the humor.
The author had a good premise to start with--a tortured soul abused by his father, he still hears him in his head and kills to protect his family but also to quiet the voice. I did have a bit of a problem with the execution of the main storyline. Boy meets girl, boy inexplicably falls in love, girl loves boy back despite having every reason in the world to walk away and walk away quickly. The humor is a bit whacky and does take some getting used to. When I first read it, I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be taken seriously or not, hence the edit after the discussion with the author... Just to give you an idea, so you can see if it's for you or not:
It was her absolute acceptance I took issue with, and again, the humor takes a bit of getting used to as well...
"You're more like a mouthwatering steak dinner and a flavorsome glass of red wine. Meat that expands my cock and alcohol that warms my heart." I have no words for this one. Was this his version of a compliment?
Then there was the sex dialogue. For instance, when he would come... "Open fire," I say in a gnarled voice. Show me a man that says that, and I'll show you a woman that laughs him right out of her bed.
Then the use of verbs: "Mark." The word ejaculates from her mouth...
Then the use of adjectives: "... my finger glides around her viscid pussy."
Then the awkward use of similes: "...while her pussy is fragrant like wet bark."
Again, in the beginning, I took the book way too seriously. Looking back on it with fresh (ready to laugh) eyes, I still struggle with the humor in it. It's just not for me because of the strange love between the two main characters, but I will say that the author has skill. I found few to no editing mistakes, and this is a wonderful thing!
I probably need to get my head checked but I truly enjoyed these books. Told entirely from Mark Jameson's POV, it was very entertaining with dark humor and dirty thoughts. He is definitely a anti-hero but I absolutely loved him. Although this is told from his perspective I felt that the author did a great job with Julia, his love interest. She was also an awesome character and I really liked her. I haven't read the previous series that are ultimately linked by characters to this story but I still felt well informed of Mark and his family's messed up and very dark history.
So, all in all, if your looking for a highly erotic, dark, gritty read with the humor of a Quentin Tarantino movie, this definitely a story you will enjoy.
Definitely at the top of the list of my favorite reads this year! I was sucked in from page one. This is the first time reading Aven's work, and I am dying to read more. You name it, she covered it. Snarky, sarcastic humor, kinky sex, truly dark situations, awesome characters, witty banter, murder, drugs... what more could you ask for?! Absofreakinlutely loved it!
""God, any other relationship after this one would bore me to death.” She throws her hands in the air. “I’m fucking stuck with you.” The door swings open and she leaves my bedroom and then my suite. “That was my plan!” I call out to her. “There’s never a dull moment with Mark Jameson!""
That about sums up my feelings for this series. One of my favorite reads this year!
Yet again another amazingly dark read from the awesome Aven Jayce !! Loved catching up with Mark Jameson and finding out a bit more about him, the twists were amazing !! Without giving too much away i'll say this " In the Jameson Hotel not everything is as it seems" ! Brilliant and i really do hope we get to check in again x
I thought this series was just as addictive as NOVA. It was addictive, thrilling, and suspenseful. I would love to see the relationship with Mark and Jules progress. It was also great to read about Sophie and Cove and their two twin boys. I definitely suggest this if you have read NOVA.
Book 1 This is DARK read. This isn't a stand alone. We start out with Mark Jameson, the son of Paul, from the Nova Trilogy. (Not necessary to read, but will give you all the back story) Mark is now running a hotel after a few things change in his personal life. Also we get a huge blast from the past, both in good and bad ways. The flashbacks are enough to run a chill down your spine, then again anything revolving Paul would. Then we have Jules, she's Mark's new conquest, but there is definitely something she's hiding. If you expected a dark plot, hot sex, and a book to keep you turning the pages this is it. I would highly recommend this book. Book 2 This picks up where book one left off. This book shows more family time. Same sarcastic, emotional, dark humored bunch we've known from the beginning of Nova. We also get to see and hear more from Mark and Jules. I still think there is something she's hiding. Some one goes missing... Is it foul play or something else?? Off to book three. Book three This was the perfect ending for Mark. Although he's grown some emotionally, you can expect miracles he's Paul Jameson's son after all. Mark is one character I'm not sure if I'd want him to change. I love his sarcastic, narcissist personality. After all he's been through, it's surprising he has any self esteem left. They only thing I wish, is his personal life gets better for him, I'm not sure he deserves it, but he's the bad guy you root for. You know these books have to be good, after 7 books, the same characters, I still want more. I loved this series and would highly recommend it!!
I cannot say enough good things about this series not to mention the unbelievably talented author, Aven Jayce. I will definitely be reading more of her books especially the Nova Trilogy also including the Jameson's. This wonderful series had a little bit of everything, I laughed, (a lot actually especially at Mark) I cried & I was on the edge of my seat. Mark Jameson owns a beautiful five star hotel in Lake Tahoe, he is divorced & has a 15 year old son who hates him. He grew up in Philly (my home town) & then moved his wife & son to Las Vegas. He moved to Vegas so he could work for his Father, Paul Jameson who was a very successful porn king & complete scumbag. He became a porn actor named Marcus Wild & was his Father's 2nd highest earner. Cove was his top earning actor & was repeatedly raped & abused by Paul Jameson, he later married Mark's sister, Sophia. Julia works the front desk at Jameson Hotel, she is beautiful, out going & doesn't take any shit from Mark. She has only had sex with two other men & grew up with a normal, loving family but when Mark tells her about his past she is completely understanding & supportive of him. Mark was a piss & I loved the way he messed with Cove & I loved the Silence of the Lambs reference "It puts the lotion on or it gets the hose". I highly recommend this series, it is freakin' AMAZEBALLS !!!!
**** Hands Down One Of My Favorite Dark Series ****
Aven Jayce has done it again with her twisted mind!!!
We met Mark Jameson in the NOVA Series. If you have not read it please do!!! Even though this series can be read by itself, it's better to start from the beginning. Over the last two weeks I have been reading Nova, and then Jameson Hotel. This crew is something else, get ready to ride on the crazy Effie train. Your mind will be blown by these series.
Mark Jameson is Paul son, and was used and abused by the sick S.O.B. He open his hotel to get away from city living. But trouble always knows where to find you. Mark must protect what means the most to him~ his family. But to do that he is going to have to go to the depth of hell to do it. He's a twisted man, but sexy as sin. Mark is a Jameson through and through. The only thing is, I think he's the light in that darkened family. He may be twisted, but his morals are good. Julia is a sassy little minx that takes over Mark's thoughts, and body. She is a feisty woman that won't take Mark's crap, and I think he has met his match. I really want to say more about these two but I won't.
All I know is you would be crazy to not get both Series. I can't wait until November for Part Two to come out. I'm having some serious withdrawals right now, I need to know what happens!!!!
This is DARK read. This isn't a stand alone. We start out with Mark Jameson, the son of Paul, from the Nova Trilogy. Then we have Jules, she's Mark's new conquest, but there is definitely something she's hiding. If you expected a dark plot, hot sex, and a book to keep you turning the pages this is it. The next book in this series is out. I would highly recommend this book.
Every so often you discover an author that has the ability to invade your mind, get under your skin and keep you turning the pages in awe of what has been written. In some cases even turning the pages back and rereading in sheer disbelief that what just unfolded before my eyes had actually happened. This author for me is Aven Jayce. The Nova series is one of my all time favourites and The Jameson Hotel series is now joining it.
It's not essential but I would recommend reading Nova first, if only to get your mind twisted even further.
So..........the last time I met Mark Jameson he terrified me, every evil thing he did, every horrific word that came out of his mouth scared me senseless. This time I didn't feel that at all, in fact the complete opposite. He is seriously HOT and smooth and psychotic and sexy and weird and loving and funny and absolutely totally insane!
Marks story is endearing in a dark and sinister sort of way. The connection he has with every single one of the other characters is played out in such a way that you want him succeed with whatever he is trying to achieve whether that be a good thing or the most truly awful crime.
Julia is a fantastic addition to the characters that I'd already grown to love, I didn't for one minute expect that she'd get what she longed for but she got that and more. There was a particular romantic moment that was so swoon worthy it had me literally melting.
Catching up with the characters from Nova has been an absolute pleasure, yes it's dark and twisted but it's magic in the form of words. In my review for Nova I said this is a story that could go forever and I still stand by that, there is so much more I need to know and it's impossible to become bored with the trials and tribulations of the Jameson's.
Please let there be more, I for one will be waiting!

A twist to the Jameson family, the damage run but can't hide comes to mind
The saga of the Jameson's continues. They are a very dysfunctional family indeed. This is the story of Paul's son. He's like his father in so many ways, but mostly from his abusive childhood, rather than his genetics. It was a difficult book to read in parts. The parts with killing and the coupling of killers . I am hooked to see why some of the things happened and would love to read the next book to see how the story develops. It was nice to see what happens to Cove and Sophia. They never seem to get far from the Paul Jameson curse, in fact no one who gets close to him does. Even from the grave, he seems to have left quite a terrifying legacy. If you have read Aven Jayce's previous novels, you will know they are explicit, and as straight to the point as they come, not for the faint hearted. It's a quick paced novel, with characters that you may not necessarily love, but they leave you so beguiled that you keep reading to see what next is on the agenda.
Wow...wow...wow! After reading The Nova trilogy i was pretty excited to get my hands on this 3 parter. This is about Mark...the son of Paul who we met in the aforementioned trilogy and Julia. Mark is a dark character through and through and Julia appears light and fluffy...to begin with!!!! I was pulled in within the first few pages...exceptional writing...dark subjects, suspense, murder, dirty sex all laced with a sarcastic humour throughout...it was an irresistable combination. I enjoyed seeing other characters back such as Cove and Sophia and OMG the twins...one wonders how twisted they are gonna be when all grown up lol! No spoilers here but believe me it's so worth the read Its dark & dirty and what's not to love!!!!
Absolutely loved these books. Would recommend reading the Nova Trilogy before this series, will understand & appreciate the characters/ story far better. It’s hard not to love Mark despite his dark, crazy side & unorthodox way of thinking, the whole ‘I’m a troll….foldy roll’, seriously disturbing. As with the Nova series I loved how Marks story unfolded, the relationship with his father & how that had seriously messed with his head. Jules was fantastic, so different from the other characters, but that will have a lot to do with the fact she never met Paul Jameson. Really hoping from the way the series finished we haven’t heard the last from the Jameson/Everton clan!
This book is completely twisted, raw, explicit, yet addictive. Let's just say I won't be making my daily jogs so public anymore. I loved that I finally read a book completely from the mind of a male sick as he may be. Looking forward to reading the next series even though I have a feeling I may be reading them backwards again. I don't want to say too much and risk leaking spoilers, so I leave you with this, I'my troll and I will eat you for breakfast.
Fan me down! Mark Jameson is a damn right sexy serial killer, one who I couldn't help but love! His partner in crime is Jules who he employs at the hotel he owns and although I think he intended only as a passing fling, discovers deep emotional feeling for her and is shocked and excited that she is not at least bit frightened or disgusted by the lifestyle he leads. It was also fab to catch up with Cove and Sophia ( Sophia is Mark's sister and story which is told in Nova Trilogy). Aven is a quality author and can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Had me guessing at times about his girl. Is she gonna hurt him? Run from him? What game was she playing? Had to reread the part at the tree in the end, but I got what happened. I think it's based on his last voice in his head. He'd definitely listen to his dad over his sister.
Now - his son's another story. That kid needs a kick in the pants. I think Aven should ad him to the next set. That would be good.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series, just as much as I did the NOVA Trilogy and The Dark Scarlett. I will admit while getting the glimpses of Mark "Marcus Wild" Jameson in the other books I was secretly wishing to know more. Is that scary that I'm falling deeper and deeper in love with these "dark, suspenseful, romantic novels? Maybe but what the hay...you only live once. I cannot wait until parts 4, 5 and 6 are complete.
Very Dark, but makes you understand the Jamesons better.
I have really enjoyed the Nova series, and the Dark Suite Series really gave me a better insight into Sophia, Paul, and Mark Jameson. I really like how you get to see the relationship between Marc, Cove, and Sophia plus the two twins. It is also a love story, unexpected but interesting as well.
I'm giving this 5 stars, but, so far, it doesn't compare to NOVA, which was out of this world good. Loved Mark. Hoping the rest of the series will redeem. I knew I should have waited til the series was complete. It could just be that I read it right after NOVA, which I would definitely put in my top 5 ever read, and I've read hundreds, hundreds and hundreds. Could easily be a thousand.
I didn't expect a spin off from Nova, but it was great. Take Nova and twist it up even more. I won't say anything about the story, because I think reading it without pretense is better. Aven narrates with inner dialog so well, I couldn't put the series down.
