Martin Cheek graduated in graphic design in 1981 and first specialised in illustration and puppet animation, going on to set up his own film production company. He then became increasingly interested in the decorative arts, especially mosaic, and with his patient eye for detail and ability to create animated sequences, his mosaic work now benefits from his earlier experiences - it is clear that character and movement play an important part of his work. Now an acclaimed professional mosaic artist, he is regularly commissioned by both private and corporate clients and has had many one-man exhibitions. He runs regular weekend courses in mosaic.
