I am a Leo. Born August 10, living on the east coast. I self-published my first novel, PNEUMA in 2014, and I have no regrets.
One of my many indulgences is fitting in time to read. My other happy place: having too much to write and not enough hands to type it out. Not enough brains to put the stories together fast enough. Not enough tea or coffee to keep me awake 24/7.

So, like every normal person, I have to take it one day at a time.

My cravings for sweets keep me going, any sort of cakes (especially red velvet), pies, cookies, and ice cream.
I have a cat named Bongo, who loves to get in my way when I'm trying to work but is too cute for me to fight him off.
And then I have my family, who puts up with my endless nights, my tapping of the keyboard, and my ridiculous imagination.

I enjoyed this sequel very much. It started right in to the story. Which left off right where book 1 stopped. Estelle had to learn and overcome a lot in this book. She is destined to be queen someday. However, someday comes sooner rather than later. I like the relationship her and Reed share. As of this point it is not a childish or selfish one. Hopefully throughout the next book it will be the same. With the way the author set this ending up I'm definitely looking forward to reading book 3.

So much better than the first book!! The storyline of Pneuma was the thing which drove me to finish the novel. This time it was the writer's skill. The dialogue flows, the story flows, and the characters seem to have a depth I didn't pick up in book 1. Well done, Serena Kearney. By the way this author is making leaps and bounds, I'd pick book three to be a great read.

RATING: 4 STARS

I read Pneuma awhile ago for Serena, and I adored it. I was excited when I was asked to read and review Surge, and was not disappointed at all. Serena has carried on the story of Estelle, her leaving Earth, and coming to terms with a whole new life, and working through the possibilities of her camatic; or soul mate all the while on edge, and ready to fight whatever battle pops up during this war she has stepped into.

I'm not typically a sci-fi reader, but I love Serena's books because she manages to combine sci-fi and a romance story in one with it seeming completely possible, and not at all far-fetched. She makes it easy to connect with the characters, and makes me feel like I'm fighting alongside the soldiers and protecting my princess from page one to 'the end'.

I would strongly urge you to pick up Pneuma if you haven't read it, especially since it's FREE, and then keep right on reading with this one.

Just as amazing as the first.

I'm in love with these books. They have captured my attention the moment I started reading them. I had serious book hangover after reading the first and couldn't read another book until I finished the series. I can't wait to read number 3. The storyline is amazing. The characters are amazing. I highly recommend these books.

Confusion and jealousy, right - fair warning, if you don't like love triangels, this is not the book for you. Each and every man who isn't old enough to be her father falls for pretty Estelle and she doesn't do anything to keep them from having hopes, wanting to mate with or at least die for her... and most of the first part of the book is made up entirely of this struggles and love complications. Only when she is with Reed alone she tells him that he is the only one for her... and Reed is my absolute favorite. He is also the only one steadfastly good and dependable, all others have their good and bad moments, their heroic and evil actions and thoughts, I really liked that, you can't know what'll happen next because all players have their secrets and act in their best belief which is not always (mostly not) what would be best or what others see as the right way to behave. Very complex, very convincing and conclusive, that drives the story and once the love imbroglio takes a backseat it is very interesting to read and suspense-packed too. Be sure to have tissues if you are inclined to shed tears in emotional situations - and the end is no cliffhanger but still makes it a near must to read the next book in this series too.

This book has it all...Fast paced action, a love triangle, and drama. We can see the complications that arise as both Reed and Jovian feel a link with Estelle. But adding to this are a couple of other gentlemen she gets tingles from as well. How is a girl supposed to handle all that attention? A really good book that will leave you wanting to read the next one. There is a lot of emotion in this story and by the end you will feel like you have been on an out of this world roller coaster!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Surge is the second book in the Pneuma series and this story was even better than the first! We see more of the same characters from book one as well as new ones that are introduced here. This story's full of action, adventure and intrigue. I really enjoyed reading this and can't wait to see what happens next!

I enjoyed the story line. It was a little crazy how fast the bad guys could turn around and be better; however, the author did a good job of twisting it. I also appreciated that there was romance without graphic sex scenes
