I was introduced to Robin Sharma’s book at business school. I thought I’d explore the topic of leadership having studied it formally. Leadership is a topic that needs time to germinate and grow. Learning all the theory only prepares you to begin your journey.
What I enjoyed about this book is the way Sharma’s humility comes through in all the 8 lessons he imparts throughout the fable. I use this as one of my “must reads” for developing managers and entrepreneurs. It certainly enlightened me.

Many books have been written on "Leadership" but this is one of the finest amongst them simply because it is simple and anyone can relate to what has been written. Robin Sharma is a master at story telling but along with that he comes up vignettes like "Self-discipline is the DNA of visionary leadership. Self discipline is what allows a leader to go beyond knowing to doing" and "Knowledge that remains unapplied is worthless. Success is not determined by what you know. Lasting success comes only through acting on what you know, putting into practice". There are number of such quotable quotes that are repository of wisdom like "Hunt for good, not perfect behaviour and get people excited about their improvements". Perhaps the best one relates to appreciating people : "Most people appreciate praise more than any form of recognition and yet they rarely receive it". How true

Got this book as a Christmas friends gift at office.

Purely from a book review perspective, the book is pretty bad. Repetitive in its narration and no new ideas in its presentation when compared with any of this other works. I had to struggle to finish the book and I am quite sure I glazed off in between reading some of the sections. Took me a long time to slog through it.

Picked up the book from the railway station for a train journey. I have not yet read the book "The monk who sold his Ferrari", but knew about the popularity of the book, so decided to give this book a shot.
Though I was disinterested while I read first few chapters when the narrative story was being woven, but as the author started to talk about the real stuff, the 8 wisdom lessons, the book started getting interesting. Very inspiring when I had read the whole book, with some great quotes from all time leaders. After reading this, I am inclined to read other motivational books.

I recommend this to others who want to make a change in themselves but have been delaying it for their own reasons. This book would at the least encourage you to start reading more.

I am giving it a 4, the best rating till date I have giving to any book.

My next is going to be "The monk who sold his Ferrari".

This is a sequel to author's fabulously successful, The Monk Who Sold His Safari.
The author has distilled the essence of Leadership Wisdom entwined in a fable in the preceding book.
Here the format is retained that of a fable-telling narrative, but the content is thick with truisms, and necessaary explanations,of Leadership Wisdom.
The author has presribed Eight Rituals, which when practiced, in spirit, would help transform the leadership behaviour to that of a visionary leader.
These rituals are:
1. The Ritual of Compelling Future Focus
2. The Ritual of Human Relations
3. The Ritual of Team Unity
4. The Ritual of Adaptability and Change Management
5. The Ritual of Personal Effectiveness
6. The Ritual of Self-Leadership
7. The Ritual of Creativity and Innovation
8.The Ritual of Contribution and Significance

The style makes the book quite readable. In fact, it may lead to sense of ease, in mis-assuming that the craft and art of leadership is so easy to master.
Well, author has put several pointers to the contrary, while providing a do-it-yourself formulae to Leadership Development.

Nota 3.7 ⭐️

Invataturile sunt mesajele clasice clasificandu-le in ritualuri:
1. Asociaza salariulnfu scopul urmarit
2. Stapaneste cu mintea, condu cu inima
8. Ca lider - lasa in urma ta o mostenire

If anybody asks me, which is my ideal choice for a Class X Moral Science text book? I would say, Leadership Wisdom! A pleasant experience reading this one. Robin Sharma explains a few outdated or already known theories with respect to Leadership. In my humble opinion, Leadership in the Corporate world is far more demanding and skillful than he has made it out to be in the book. A good practical guide for students, in the early part of their childhood. From an adult's viewpoint, a good means to find some exposure to moral values. A bit philosophical, but that should be fine because small dosage is very effective and not harmful. Oh! I see the Moral Science question paper being readied for me. Got to go. Read this one, if you want to feel like a child again!

I to osrednjih.

I heard about this book on a podcast. It’s filled with great quotes and even greater explanations and real-life stories. Julian Mantle teaches Robin Sharma about how the purpose of life is a life of purpose and why continuous self discovery and will power are essential.

He also talks about the importance of time management and explains the Ancient Rule of Twenty which states only 20% of what you do will yield real, lasting results; These are known as high impact activities.

Additionally, he talks about how the quality of life comes down to the quality of our contributions.

I wish schools made us read books like this instead of Shakespeare (nothing wrong with Shakespeare but these are the books that deliver practical knowledge).

MUST READ.

Nice book about leadership. It’s kind of the continue to the book “the monk who sold his Ferrari”. It’s a nice parable about how to implement leadership in your life and business and to lead your organization/compliant to success through better leadership.

I have read books on leadership, the philosophy of success, and appropriate approaches to management in the past. This book simply didn't work for me.
The author has clearly taken some well chosen ideas for self improvement, particularly for those in leadership positions, and supported it with a narrative of a student learning from a master. In this case the student is a CEO in need of desperate guidance, and the master is a retired lawyer turned monk. Perhaps it is due to my own philosophy and approach to leadership, which is similar in many ways to the 8 rituals outlines in the book, but I simply found nothing particularly redeeming for me in this book.
I think that leaders or managers who find themselves at a loss at how to motivate their team might gain some wisdom from the book. And those who find self help books a way to inspire their change might also find it helpful. I simply felt I was being told things I already adhere to, and in a way that irritated me rather than inspired.
I have a feeling this is a book that many people love (or will) but while it wasn't something that I hated, it just wasn't for me. Don't get me wrong. Mr. Sharma has an enjoyable writing style and his narrative could be fun, but I found parts so far from realistic and others less than inspiring for me, that it is clear that I am not his target audience. I rank this book as 'ok'.

The central conceit of the book, that of a selfish CEO of a failing company coming across a former colleague who is now a monk, and who gradually changes his outlook and makes him a better man and businessman, doesn't really work. The characters are little more than mouthpieces for the author's ideas; as fictional characters they are unsatisfying.

If you can get past that, however, on the level of a non-fiction, motivational book about good leadership, the book is actually pretty good, and offers some sound advice pretty succinctly. I found that a lot of it concurred with what I intuitively believed about good leadership, and made me think a lot about what works and what doesn't work in managing and motivating people.

So if you are looking for that kind of book and can look past the somewhat clunky fictional construct, give this book a go.

It is a phenomenal sequel to The Monk who Sold his Ferrari. A company which at one point of time was of much acclaimed fame and the most coveted one, plunged into darkness for the reasons not known to its CEO, Peter Franklin. At this juncture, his long forgotten friend, Julian Mantle stepped into his life, to assist him in overcoming this phase of life. Julian, through his ways of wisdom made Franklin discover his shortfalls and rejuvenate his entire portfolio with his eight practical lessons.

One of the major reasons for devouring Robin Sharma's books is that his works are the manifestations of the innermost self that manage to bind the reader's interest. The reader synchronises the character with himself and craves to imbibe his phenomenology.

Wonderful and a very inspiring book, everyone should read it and not only business man or woman.
I must confess this is not the kind of book I would usually choose to read, but my father recomended it to me and even when I was reluctant at first, right on the first page I start to enjoy it and to see all the wisdom it contain.
I wont say more, I would only repeat that everybody should do it, no mater what you do for a living, this book will change your mind or will remind you of things you already know deep inside but you keep forgeting.

After finishing this book the only thing i want is to meet the great Robin Sharma. The ideas are similar to what i have read previously in books. But this time it is introduced nicely and in an interesting form. I wished if i were a Businesswoman to apply them to my organization to see effective they are. But the spectacular thing about the book that it doesn't discuss management from the organizational point of view but also from the personal prospective. Can't wait to read another Robin Sharma magical book.
