NEW YORK TIMES/USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

Even though she graduated with a degree in science, Tara knew she’d never be happy doing anything other than writing. Specifically, writing love stories.

She started with a racy BDSM story and found she was not quite prepared for the unforeseen impact it would have. Nonetheless, she continued and The Submissive Series novels would go on to be both New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers. One of those, THE MASTER, was a 2017 RITA finalist for Best Erotic Romance.

Now she is focusing on new contemporary romances that allow her the freedom to write and publish on her own schedule.

Don’t skip my review because it’s the seventh book in the series. This one is a standalone! Here are some reasons why you need to pick up the submissive series, you can start with the first book like me, or skip around, maybe even start with this one, but let me just say, you will not be disappointed.

I love this series because it mainly focuses on the D/s lifestyle. I know you are probably thinking, well there are a lot of those types of books out there, yes, but it’s all about quality. I love Tara Sue Me books because it’s not always about the steam, don’t me wrong, it’s VERY nice, but I really like how she develops the characters and creates a story that is not conventional and completely addictive to read.

This is Sasha’s story and I REALLY enjoyed this one. I like her story because she was a submissive, but because of a bad Dom/sub relationship she is left battered, bruised and scarred. You know I love my damsel in distress storyline right? I like that Sasha understands the D/s world and there is no explaining, it’s just her and her emotions and her trauma.

Cole is a character I have been intrigued towards for a very long time. He’s Dominate, controlled and knows what he wants. When he’s asked to help Sasha with her problems, I couldn’t wait to dive into the relationship and see what forms.

The chemistry between Cole and Sasha is crazy awesome. She’s very timid and Cole is very distant. He understands she’s a wounded animal, but he’s only focusing on getting her to overcome her fears, they are not to get into a relationship relationship where feelings are involved.

I love the tension, but I also love how warm and caring Cole is towards Sasha, yes he’s a Dom and yes there is BDSM, but there’s also affection and respect. Gah I could go on forever on how much I love this series. I really do think you should give it a shot. If you are a newbie BDSM reader then this book is PERFECT for you. Tara writes more on the tame and mild side, which is great for new readers.

I simply loved it!

A seductive masterful crafted sexy tale!!!! The Master by Tara Sue Me is absolutely stunning!!!! Tara Sue Me has once again bewitched me with her gorgeous prose and emotionally raw characters. Seven books into the series, I am still enchanted with every character and what they bring forth to the dominant/submissive storyline.

 photo a768597c2fc138edfe644fb4ad3e47_zpsioyvip5i.gif “ When I work with a new submissive, ” Cole said,“I want to weave myself into her thoughts so that each movement she makes is made with me in mind. I want her to feel my presence when we're apart as strongly as she does when we're together. I'll do that slowly, Sasha. ”

The Master and like the previous books of the series were written so beautifully that it highlights the beauty of this erotic BDSM lifestyle that each of the characters embark upon. This story encompasses so much depth, raw emotions, and beauty that readers like myself don't see this BDSM lifestyle as disgusting. Though this lifestyle is not for everyone, Tara Sue Me allows her readers to see it in the eyes of the people who wanted to be in a Dominant/Submissive relationship. She allowed readers to get in depth perspective of what it entails not just sex.

#TheMaster

The beauty of the storyline of The Master is the special dynamic and relationship of Sasha Blake and Cole Johnson. If you have read the previous book, then readers are well aware that Sasha was badly hurt from her previous Master. It left Sasha feeling scared and emotionally distraught. But after several months, Sasha missed the Dom/Sub relationship and wants to rejoin the group. And in order to rejoin the group, she would need to be retrained. And the Master to retrain Sasha to gain back her confidence is Cole.

 photo a768597c2fc138edfe644fb4ad3e47_zpsioyvip5i.gif “And no, I won't fuck your body, but I believe you'll find our mental play nearly as intimate, if not more so, than physical play.”

Master Cole Johnson has always intrigued me. He was the Master, whose presence could be intimidating and yet wildly attractive. And he was the one Master that readers knew nothing about and so I could't wait for Tara Sue Me to slowly and seductively reveal the real Cole.

So when Master Cole was assigned to help retrain Sasha, it was exciting and nerve wrecking for Sasha. He was the one Master who could break and save her all at once. The retraining of Sasha was so different than I would have expected. Cole went about training Sasha in a way with his mind. His words invoked something deep inside Sasha. He allowed her to see that he has to earn her trust. The meaning of his words and the look in his eyes was more domineering than Sasha could have imagined. She allowed Cole to see small facets of the real Sasha. The Sasha that doesn't want to be afraid anymore. The Sasha who wants to be loved and controlled. The Sasha who wants to be a slave and her Master be Cole.

#TheMaster1

The Master is not a story where I can fully review because this book needs to be experienced through the eyes of Sasha and Cole. It is about seeing the real Sasha and Cole. The Dominant and the Submissive. The teacher and the student. The Master and the slave. And most importantly as Sasha and Cole, the lovers.

So if you are looking for a book where Tara Sue Me paints a literary masterpiece that is composed of beauty, raw, depth, sex, control, pleasure, and love then look no further because this book is for you. The Master is not about an erotic sex journey but an erotic sexual discovering of finding oneself and inner strength to willfully choose this lifestyle and love. And Tara Sue Me has clearly outdone herself in this book as she held her readers captive in a story full of raw emotions, depth, second chances, and love.

One of the best BDSM books I've read in a while. I loved that the book was emotional and realistic.
Sasha is a submissive that has been traumatized after taking a part in a scene that went wrong. She still carries the scars a careless Dom gave her and she fights to recover every day. When the reins of her retraining are giveν to Master Cole Johnson, she never expected his methods to work.
Under Cole's hand, Sasha learns to trust again; she learns to enjoy once more her submissive side, and most importantly, she begins to crave being under Cole's control.
Their relationship starts hesitantly and a bit reluctantly from Sasha's part, while Cole is excited to have such a submissive under his care.
When Sasha learns about Cole's past, she realizes that maybe his desires are a little too much for her...But slowly, her walls start breaking and she will soon find herself utterly charmed and completely lost in Cole's firm hands. When Sasha asks the impossible from Cole, will he accept the challenge or is their shaky relationship doomed to destruction?
I loved, loved the way the author wrote about the BDSM lifestyle. I found the plot fast moving and realistic. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a BDSM themed book. I loved every minute of Cole's dominance! He was a fantastic hero and an even better Master.
'Right now I'm going to show you what happens when a bratty submissive accuses me of doing a job halfway."

If you are a fan of the genre, and the author, do not miss this.

I have to confess that this was my first book from the series Submissive of Tara Sue Me and I liked it! The book was about a submissive who after a very traumatic experience, would like to return to the style and a Master has been assigned to her in order to retrain her. This was the story of Sasha and Colen.

The plot was surprising in some ways and really interesting. The story was moving fast and although this is the 7th book of the series, I didn't feel lost even for a second. Ms. Me has made an excellent job to bring us up-to-date without repetitions or unnecessary details. The story is said by a dual POV and even without mentioning it specifically, it was always clear whose POV was. The writing was beautiful. Although I was reading about something I am not familiar with, everything felt so real and intense. Actually this book was about building trust and falling in love with someone.

Sasha is a very strong woman who is not aware of her strength! She is scarred in the beginning but she is a quick learner. I liked her way of thinking and reacting although I didn't see myself in her. Ms. Me with her way of writing made me understanding her.

Cole is a Dom and he is good at it! He has also issues that he has to deal with. His strongest point and my favorite part was his mind games! I really loved them!

The end of the book made my heart bit faster! I loved it! There was also an Epilogue which I think it's a teaser for the next book.

I couldn't wait for this book to make it's way to NetGalley! We meet this couple in The Exhibitionist (book 6) and there was just enough of their story to hook me.

Sasha had a bad experience with a Dom and has been a bit skittish about going back to the scene, yet she misses it. Her friends stick by her and the group she's a part of assigns her a Dom to get her confidence and trust back.

Cole is given that job, even though some think he's way to intense for Sasha. Secretly though they both seem to have a thing for each other.

Their attraction is something that you feel right away and the reason why I wanted to read this book so much. I wasn't disappointed. They both have a past and we get to see them work through things but will they figure things out in time?

Really good read and if you like BDSM and lots of steam you'll love this book!

*dreamy sigh* Amazing hero, incredible heroine, an emotional journey that tugged at the heart and brought all the feels, toe curling heat. Lordy. Yes, please!

The quick of it is that a little while back Sasha was severely traumatized in a BDSM scene gone wrong. It devastated both her body and her mind and has kept her from the lifestyle she used to love and crave. Now that she's finally healing she wants her old life back but the only way that's going to happen is with the help of Cole--one of the group's Master Doms. A man who both intimidates and entices her and who will do whatever he can to help her find herself once again.

Alright, so, I loved Sasha. She's been through absolute hell but has come back fighting. She has an inner strength and sass that was charming and beautiful. I loved watching her slowly gain her confidence and trust as they worked together. Seeing her struggle with flashbacks and fears and coming through them stronger.

And Cole? He wasn't quite what I expected from the other books but I liked him. He turned out to be a rather prim Brit which I just didn't see coming. Very much with the rules and protocols and doing things the proper way. He had some serious sexy and I loved how he could be both firm and gentle with Sasha

Now their dynamic. They start out with a simple training relationship. Working on trust and confidence without things getting too intimate. Thought the heat flinging between them was incredible. But then things got a little deeper and more intense as they explored a 24/7 power exchange. This is so not my dynamic but it was interesting to watch play out and, kinda hot too. It's still nothing I would want personally but I enjoyed watching the two of them and their relationship develop with that dynamic in play. The utter trust they both had to have in each other to actually make it work. It was something else. Whew!

As a side note, one of the things I really love about this series is that it has touched on the risk involved in BDSM. While the lifestyle can be wonderful it can also be very dangerous when power is put into the wrong hands. I think that's often something we gloss over so I appreciate that idea being woven into the series and addressed. It was heartbreaking and painful to watch what Sasha went through but so very important in both showing the dangers and the absolute strength it takes to live the lifestyle.

All in all, The Master was delicious! The chemistry and power exchange between Cole and Sasha was stirring and utterly beautiful as they healed each others hearts and souls. Tara Sue Me wields a masterful pen.

2/1-- *dreamy sigh* Amazing hero, incredible heroine, an emotional journey that tugged at the heart and brought all the feels, toe curling heat. Lordy. Yes, please! I would like to thank the publisher for providing in advance a paperback copy of The Master for an honest review.

I love Tara’s writing and I had been waiting for Cole’s story ever since The Collar. This book was off the charts HOT HOT HOT!!! The Master did not disappoint and was everything I wanted it to be!!! Cole is dominating, powerful, in control, and yet there still something so sweet and tender about him. What is even more endearing about him is he doesn’t know how fabulous he is and then you add a British accent and I mean who could resist.

the master tara sue me

Book Review: 5 stars
I’m amazed with how Tara Sue Me always takes a new level with the BDSM in her books. The Master left me with my mouth drop open half of the book, I’m not usually shocked by the BDSM practices, I mean, I’m always curious about it after I finished reading books as explicit and well detailed and documented as the previous books of this series, or the Original Sinners Series by Tiffany Reisz , but this book was JUST WOW!

Even though The Master can be read as standalone, all The Submissive Series has a continuity. Sasha and Cole met back in Seduced by Fire right after Sasha had an awful experience with her ex-dom Peter. Even though Sasha wasn’t in the right frame of mind, she felt a pull toward Cole that left her thinking that maybe one day she could practice BDSM again. Due to the positive but brief encounters Sasha and Cole had during the other books of the series, Abby, Nathaniel, Jeff and Daniel decided to accept Sasha’s request of being retrained and they assigned Cole to this delicate task. And that’s when The Master begins.

Cole had a reputation to be the hardest and coldest of all the dominants in the Partners in Play group. He had the highest standards for a submissive, expected always the best behavior of her. So when he accepted to retrain Sasha, he put one limit: NO SEX. And they started that way. Sasha was always attracted to him. Even when she was scared to death after the incident with Peter, she felt that warmth in her belly when she was near Cole, and when she was informed that he was going to retrain her, she was equally scared and aroused. The beginning of their training was slow, but that pace was needed. He needed to gain her trust and she needed to trust him, so the rule of no-sex was the best for the retraining. But that didn’t mean the first half of the book wasn’t hot, in fact, the rediscovery of her submissive self was equally arousing for Sasha as was for Cole, because when he was so sure he’d be a “teacher” and nothing else, slowly everything was starting to feel more and more intense between them.

And here is when happened what shocked me the most, and of course, I loved the most about this book. They decided to add a 24/7 kinda relationship to the training. A Master/slave kind of relationship. It was nothing like I imagined it would be. The way Cole treated Sasha was hard and soft at the same time. I loved his punishments as much as I loved his rewards. I loved the aftercare, how Cole held her after every scene they had was beautiful and left me wanting to submit to a master like Cole. #IamHisSlave
“It’s wild and decadent and raw. It’s intense and scary and sensual. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever done, yet I’d do it again in a minute.”

The cameo of the other couples of the series was so cool. I loved Abby and Daniel so much. Their support for Sasha and Cole was perfect. I was a little annoyed with Julie and Nathaniel because they hesitated so much and worried about Sasha’s retraining, but at the end they were cool :) There was a moment when Abby and Sasha were talking, and Abby was telling Sasha about how her relationship with Nathaniel started and it was just so funny, perfect and so true. It makes me wanna re-read their books one more time. I’m sure the next book of the series will be awesome, one new couple to add to this amazing group of kinky people! Can’t wait for The Exposure .

In summary, this was definitively one helluva book! One new couple to love, with a beautiful and intense relationship and with the best HEA that they could ever had. Now, you go read it, it’s an order ;)

Kitty's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I waited a long time for Cole’s story and when I realized Tara Sue Me was going to pair him with Sasha, my interest was extremely piqued. This was going to be interesting … a scared and scarred sub with “The Master”.

We’ve met both Cole and Sasha in previous books in the Submissive Series. He was confident, masterful and a true dominant. Sasha was the victim of a scene gone wrong and has been living with the scars both in and outside of her body. But, she’s lusted after the sexy Brit and part of her is extremely happy that it’s him that was chosen to retrain her as a Submissive. Will either of their psyches or hearts come out of this arrangement unscathed?

Cole's rules, his way of approaching the retraining and the way he masters Sasha’s mind is brilliant and scary at the same time. But, it works and he watches the scared, shy Sub become the feisty woman he knew was there. He wanted nothing more than to break his own rules but he knows what he wants and needs in his life and does not think that Sasha would want or be capable of giving him 24/7 Slave status. Surprise! But, it takes a talk and encounter with his ex-slave for him to open his eyes and realize that Sasha is the air that he breaths and all he’s ever wanted.

Unbelievably, The Master was a beautiful love story. As all of our favorites make appearances and bring their own thoughts to the table, Sasha and Cole come together and break all the rules. They let the love they are feeling flow off of the pages and into our hearts.

Tara Sue Me really tore me up and had me both crying and smiling at the same time. She humanized Cole and brought Sasha on a wonderful journey with words and actions that brought me to my knees. And, she did this with eloquent words and actions, captivating her audience with the passion and intensity of the written word that only an author as intense as Tara Sue Me could deliver.

After reading this I want to clear my reading list and read the rest of this series. Although this is part of a series these books don't need to be read in order. However this was so good I want to read more of these hot and sexy characters.

Sasha has trust issues after being scarred badly by a Dom. When she asks to rejoin the Partners in Play community everything changes when Cole is asked to re introduce her to bdsm life. Both are pushed to their limit in more ways than one. Can these two help each to move on?Will they find what they are looking for?

This story was faultless. I felt the author did a great job of portraying these characters as real. I felt as if I was with these characters, not reading a story.

I will certainly be going and reading more of this series. Loved it.

Although this is book number 8 in the series, I don't think you necessarily need to read the previous books before reading this one. This was the first book I read in the series and I did fine.

After reading this book, I would defiantly go back and read the rest of the series. I would like to know the stories of the other characters featured in this book.

Wasn't necessarily what I would have expected from a book of this genre.

Holy hell, I ruined my panties. Well, maybe that a stretch but they sure as hell are not the same after this book!

So, this is the book about Sasha and Cole! And holy mother of play parties, it was smoking hot!

Sasha in the past had a Dom that overstepped the line and hurt her, badly. She must train with another Dom is she wants to return to playing, and the group chose Cole.

Cole has always had an eye for Sasha, and with the new training he will be working with her more. Will he be able to keep things non-sexual as the other members have asked?

I don’t want to go too much into the story because even some of the smallest details are important and I really don’t want to ruin anything. But I will say I want a Cole for myself. Especially one carrying bags of dirt, all sweaty and muscly. Mmmmm.

This story is not only about learning to trust again, but also learning to rebuild yourself and gain the confidence others so easily destroy. Throw in some really steamy scenes and you have the perfect cocktail. Throw on a battery garnish and it’s perfect! ~ Devlynn, 5 stars

~~~
God, I’ve been dying to read Sasha and Cole’s story and holy hell, The Master does NOT disappoint!
Sasha Blake is ready to re-enter the BDSM world. She’s scarred both mentally and physically from a session gone wrong, but she’s willing and ready to try again. Try with a much stronger Master—one that can retrain her submissive side and overcome her fears, make her feel safe in her submission.
The senior leaders of the Partners in Play community have discussed Sasha and her retraining needs. It’s been decided that Master Cole will lead her retraining sessions because the mind is the biggest sex organ—and Cole is a master at mindfuckery. He’s also a very experienced Dom and just what Sasha needs to move forward.
But what happens when the training moves quicker than Cole or Sasha imagined. Sasha’s comfort level and trust in Cole is quickly realized and she’s now pushing all of his buttons. But Cole has specific needs, wants, and desires—including having a slave that will serve him 24/7. While Sasha is willing to experiment, is Cole able to keep things at a training level or will their relationship expand into something more…?
Wow, I need a moment to cool down from this very hot and sexy read. The relationship between a Dominant and submissive is all about trust. Trust that their emotions, safety and sexuality will be taken care of at the most intimate of levels. Sasha has been with a horrific Dom—one that didn’t practice those rules. Now, Cole is helping her find her way back to the lifestyle through his dominance, command, touch, and control, and Sasha is reveling in it! She’s almost back to her old self with Cole’s ministrations.
But not everyone is convinced that this D/s training relationship is a good thing—Sasha’s very overprotective friends Julie and Dena and their Dominants are some of them. Their care and concern got to be a bit overbearing at times—I found myself wanting to tell a couple of them to mind their own damn business. But through it all is the constant of Cole and Sasha. I love them as a couple—they’ve both been through some very trying events and it’s time they found their own happiness. ~ Missy, 5 stars
The Master by Tara Sue me
Review 4 Stars
After suffering a BDSM scene gone horribly wrong, you would think Sasha Blake would not want to be part of the scene ever again, but she wants control of her life again, and being a submissive once again is what will make her whole. She enlists the help of Nathaniel and Abby (if you haven’t read The Submissive or The Dominant, you’re missing out on this wonderful couple) in helping her finding a new Dom, but before she can accept a new Dom into her life, she needs to be retrained and who could be better than Master Cole Johnson. Did I mention Master Cole is a Brit, and there goes the panties.
When Sasha finds out it will be Master Cole for the retraining, she is a bit nervous and apprehensive. From the talks of the other submissives, he’s a very hard Dom, so either he can make her flourish or break her spirit even more. Cole’s retraining was probably a little different from any training he has done in the past. He takes into account what Sasha had endured with her previous Dom that has left her not only scarred physically but emotionally. Cole’s training was patient but lead you to some mind fuckery, but Sasha needed that to help her through the process.
Sasha was making great strides in her retraining, so much so that she even asked for a 24/7 Master/slave situation. Oh boy this could be interesting. As much as Cole wanted to focus on Sasha becoming a confident submissive, he wasn’t sure about the other aspect, but he did give in. Those two had some awesome chemistry. I did love seeing Sasha regaining her confidence back under Master Cole’s leadership. I felt him hold back his feelings for Sasha.
Overall, I enjoyed The Master, certain miscommunication issues bothered me, but I love reading anything involving the BDSM lifestyle. Tara Sue Me can do no wrong in my book. I love even seeing other characters from her previous books. We get a hint on whose book will be next and I’m can’t wait!
This was a great book with well developed character, hot as hell scenes, great chemistry and banter between the MC.
Cole is one demanding Dominant, he knows exactly how to get into the head of his submissive's and he has taken on the role of retraining Sasha who is coming back the scene after a traumatic scene and bad D/s relationship. Sasha, is strong enough to know that she has a desire to serve and even after a horrific scene and bad relationship she wants to serve a Dom. Sasha enters into a retraining relationship with Cole and the two find that when it's time to split ways -Sasha is not the only one who has been heeled.
This was a great book an excellent addition to Tara Sue Me's collection of BDSM books. One of my favorite quotes of the book:
"There isn’t a part of you that doesn’t please me.” She could truly get used to this—but somehow, she didn’t think she ever would. “Except,” he said and her breath caught. There was something that didn’t please him? “Your clothes,” he continued. “You’re wearing them and they’d please me more on the floor.”
5 Stars!! Can't wait for the next book!!
The Master is the 7th book in the Submissive series and I really enjoyed this one. I'm gonna admit I haven't read them all but once I picked up the series I have enjoyed it. This is Cole and Sasha's story. Sasha has been physically hurt during a scene and is thinking she is ready to get back into it. Cole has been chosen to retrain her. He is not looking for a submissive, his kink is having a 24/7 slave and Sasha is not the one for him but he will help her. What they both don't expect us to have an intense attraction for one another. Sasha talks him into a trial period for her to be his slave but will the result show The Master that she can be his if he allows it? Continue reading this BDSM series. I have no doubt that you will enjoy this just as much as I have!
Sasha is ready to submit to someone again after being abused by someone she thought was a trustworthy Dom. The group decides that she needs someone to work with her to help make it easier for her. I think they were doing a bit of matchmaking to boot. I loved that Sasha was so brave to have gone through something so horrible, but never giving up who she truly is in the midst of that. The group pairs her up with Cole. Oh my lord. Cole is a delicious bossy man who thinks he is way too much for Sasha to develop something long term, but he definitely wants to be the one to reintroduce her to their lifestyle and help her heal. I fell hard for this man. He has built up walls too, but Sasha breaks down every one. They are scorching hot together and I so loved watching them open their hearts to each other. I so enjoyed their story.
I give The Master 5 hearts!
This book is my favorite in the series so far. The tension between Cole and Sasha is tight and brilliant. The physical play is as good as Tara Sue Me's books get, but the psychological dynamic between these two is what makes this book really shine.
(Not to mention the cover. I want a poster of this book!)
I also love the way the cast in these books has grown without turning into a soap opera.
I hope we get to see more of this pair.
Ero convinta che dopo i libri di Tiffany Reisz non avrei mai più letto un romanzo completo e onesto nella descrizione del rapporto D/s. Mi sbagliavo.
The Master è Perfezione Pura, dalla prima all'ultima pagina.
La storia di Cole e Sasha rimarrà con me per sempre.
I loved this book. It was filled with so may little twists. I love how Sasha is determined to forget the session that went wrong. I love how she is determined to restart and open up again. I love how Abby and Nathaniel set her up with Cole. I love how even though Cole wants a 24/7 submission he begins to love Sasha and enjoys using her. I love how they begin to love each other and how Sasha realizes what he wants. I love how she puts aside her fear and becomes his slave for 2 weeks doing full time. I love how they both realize that it's perfect for them and Cole ends up collaring her. Definitely a great read. 10 stars!!
Since reading about Cole & Sasha (not together) in Daniel and Julie’s book, I had been curious about both of them. All I can say is this book did NOT disappoint. We noticed their tension/chemistry a few books back and their book did not disappoint. I felt so bad that Sasha had been through what she did. Then, we see that Cole is retraining her. Which was kind of unexpected to me ngl. I definitely expected this book to be as good as it was. I was thinking about holding off or just jumping in, I’m glad I decided the latter. I loved Cole’s patience with Sasha, and Sasha’s relentless strength. This was everything I thought it to be and more. I’m pretty sure I can say I thoroughly enjoyed Cole & Sasha’s story.
"She only wanted one man, one Master, one Sir...
Only Cole could ignite the submissive within her."
I was expecting a passionate and emotional love story and that's exactly what I got with "The Master." If you love a story that contains both of those attributes, I would highly recommend one-clicking this one. Even if you have't read the previous books, as this can be read as a standalone. Ever since meeting Sasha and Cole in "The Exhibitionist" last year, I have been excited about reading this book. I was intrigued by the characters and I was keen to know more about Sasha's back story. I couldn't wait to discover what lay ahead for the couple.
Following a bad experience in her role as a submissive, Sasha needing someone who could renew her trust and faith in the BDSM world. Someone who could repair her confidence and self-esteem to the way it way it had been before. Enter Cole, a commanding and masterful Dominant who also had a caring, thoughtful and most importantly, patient side to him. He was the perfect guy for the job.
"A needy submissive, longing to serve. A wounded soul, needing protection.
She pushed damn near every button he had."
Although Sasha and Cole's relationship began as a BDSM one, it soon became apparent that the couple were amazing together and maybe there was more in their future than just the roles of Dominant and Submissive. Watching Sasha and Cole develop feelings for one another warmed my heart and I realised how well they suited each other. I absolutely loved Sasha and Cole. They were both such likeable characters and, although at times I was left a little uncomfortable by the lifestyle that they chose to follow, I enjoyed their relationship immensely. Being with each other changed both Sasha and Cole for the better. Sasha made the biggest transformation in her personality. She had begun to light up with happiness in the presence of Cole. She started out as someone who had been deeply hurt and emerged into a much stronger young woman with the addition of some extra sass, which I found extremely entertaining. I was full of hope for Sasha and Cole's future.
"You've just changed the rules.
I certainly hope you're prepared to handle the ramifications."
Now that this series is on it's seventh book, it was lovely to see how well the Partners in Play group were getting along. I loved getting to know more about the dynamics of the group and how they led their lives around their choice of lifestyle. I was impressed by how well the friends came together to support and care for Sasha when she needed it the most. The group of friends have become so close with the progression of the series and it was lovely to see the strong bond that they had all formed.
"Little by little, he was weaving his way into her mind, just like he'd said.
It brought her a startling sense of security."
I couldn't end a Tara Sue Me review without mentioning the sex. Sasha and Cole's story was as steamy as ever. Tara writes sex scenes brilliantly and this book saw even more creative kinky adventures which had my temperature rising on numerous occasions. Out of all of the men that I have met so far, Cole might just be the most dirtiest talker yet, and boy do I love a potty mouthed alpha!! Lol. As I have followed this series from the very beginning, I have always felt a little undecided about my feelings towards living life as a submissive. It wasn't so much as what the couple's got up to during the erotic scenes, it was more about how the submissive's were treated away from the bedroom that I did not like. However, after meeting Cole and getting to know how gorgeous he truly was, by the end of the story I think I would have willingly worn his collar. Lol.
"Once I'm inside, I'm not holding back.
It's going to be rough and I'm going to fucking own you."
"The Master" was one of my Tara Sue Me favourites. It was brilliantly written with a heap of passion, romance and sex. I enjoyed every single page and I remained fully committed to Sasha and Cole's story throughout. I do have to say that the final few chapters were the best part for me. The way in which things concluded for Sasha and Cole was so dreamy and the epilogue that was written from Abby's POV took me completely by surprise (In a good way). I'm not sure whether or not if this was the last book of the series, but with the introduction of new characters that planted seeds for more, I wouldn't be surprised if "The Submissive" series continues on and I wouldn't mind whatsoever.
"You're more than my air, you're my sun and my moon,
and when I'm weary and tired,
you're my shelter. Let me be the same to you."
Title: The Master
Author: Tara Sue Me
Publisher/Year: Penguin Publishing 2/2/16
Length: 223 pages
Series: Submissive #8
Overview
She’s ready to try again. . . .
Sasha Blake is scarred from a BDSM session gone wrong, but she can’t deny how much a strong Master turns her on. Determined to overcome her fears and rejoin the Partners in Play community, she asks Abby and Nathaniel West to set her up with a Dom who can help her feel safe again as a sub. They know the very experienced Cole is exactly the kind of man who can push all of Sasha’s buttons—and she soon wants to go much faster than she had planned. . . .
Cole knows that Sasha is not the kind of submissive he needs. He wants someone who will serve him 24-7, not a part-time partner. Still, the further they go into their play, the more Cole begins to wish he could make Sasha his all the time. . . .
When forbidden desires turn into scorching action, Sasha and Cole come face-to-face with their demons—and realize their scorching relationship might be too dangerous to last. . . .
My Thoughts
I love this series, and i think that as we've grown to know more and more of the doms in the group - it's nice to see how each gets their own story. I think that one of the great things that Tara Sue Me does when she writes this series is that she's able to continue to pull through the characters and couples that we love while also making sure that we get a true continuation of the bigger story. She's also really good at setting up story lines for the upcoming installments.
In this series, we already knew a bit of what to expect with Sasha - we learned about her horrible experience in past books - about how she was whipped too severely by a dom who wasn't allowing her the ability to safeword out, and it's through this next installment that we see healing begin to happen for her.
We also had met Cole, a Brit who we learned was quite the demanding dom - one who actually has a penchant for the more severe Dom/Slave relationships - and it's both interesting that he was selected to retrain and welcome Sasha back into the group and expected because i think that it's those that push us the most sometimes that make the most impact.
So throughout this next installment, we see how Cole is able to heal Sasha - make her feel safe and secure while finding what she needs and craves out of the lifestyle. It's also Sasha who's able to help 'heal' cole as he's come out of an eight year relationship recently and needs to find what works for him too.
True to our author's form, we get some of the steamiest scenes that you can imagine, with several of them not involving actual sex, but just the foreplay bits of the BDSM lifestyle. We also get to see how the relationships here in the BDSM world are much more than just physical. there's a lot of depth, and substance between all of these couples, especially with Sasha and cole - and that's what i love.
The questions that i have through most of this story is what it will take for each of them to realize that they are more than a re-training exercise - that they matter to each other. It's not something that any of them are ready to admit, and i think that there's a lot of paths that this story could take to get to the point where they realize that maybe there's more. I think that we get to a few different points in the story that you feel like they will come to the conclusion that they are right for each other, but of course - that's too easy. So our author keeps us guessing and wondering all the time.
Last but not least, the teaser that we get for the next book seems like it'll be a good one. In one of the past books, we learned quite a bit about Abby's boss Meagan and it looks like we're finally getting to the bottom of why meagan and Luke (another dom in the network) have so much tension.
High-quality erotica for people who actually appreciate the lifestyle.
Readers who prefer actual BDSM erotica to poorly-written fanfic with a few whips and chains in it will be delighted by the latest entry in Me's Submissive series. Normally starting with book 8 in a run would leave you hopelessly lost; however, each volume in this series features a different pairing, and while everyone in the novels interacts, only one couple's story is told at a time. In this volume, it's Sasha and Cole's turn.
Sasha's horribly scarred (literally and figuratively) after a scene gone horribly wrong, executed by a jerk who isn't actually a Dom (just a petty, controlling asshole). Sasha's afraid to go back to her group, but at the same time she knows that submission is a key part of who she is, and she'll never truly be happy without it. The group decides to assign her a new Dom, for retraining purposes, which suits her just fine; she just doesn't expect it to be Cole, the hot British guy who's intrigued her ever since they first met.
It's such a pleasure to read a kink novel where the author actually did her homework on the lifestyle and isn't just using ropes and floggers as window dressing on a regular romance. Cole is most definitely a D., and his approach to retraining Sasha is the essence of what a good D/s relationship should be. Sasha, for her part, learns to trust Cole as he demonstrates worthiness of trust from the get-go: for the first few weeks of her training, he doesn't even touch her: it's all about healing her mindset before moving on to serious play. And all savvy players know, the mind plays the most important role in good sex.
Sasha's character growth is truly amazing, a great example of how the lifestyle empowers, rather than imprisons, the women who crave it. With Cole's help she learns to be more confident and assertive, to be a better judge of where to place her trust, to communicate more clearly, and--most importantly--to confront her abusive former "Dom" when he starts harassing her against the group's strict instructions. Cole, for his part, learns that just because his last play partner couldn't handle him doesn't necessarily mean there was anything wrong with him or his Dominant style; as with any other kind of relationship, it's always a question of proper fit, rather than blame.
The journey here, though, is mainly Sasha's. While a traditional romance novel ends with a wedding, this sort of book ends with a different--though no less pleasing--kind of happiness (for those of you in the know, rhymes with "dollar"). The spice level here is 10+ and should definitely be kept away from Grandma (unless Grandma specifically requests it). Me also introduces the characters who will feature prominently in the series' next book, using an epilogue to set up the storyline and heighten reader anticipation.
Recommended for large public libraries with good erotica collections. In fact, just go back and buy the whole damn series. Make sure you get them as e-books, too, so that shyer patrons can indulge without blushing in front of the circ clerks (a good policy for all flavors of erotica, IMHO). Just don't give this to the person who wants a "50 Shades" read-alike, 'cos trust me: this ain't the book they're looking for. Save it for the patron who keeps asking for something spicier without getting more specific. Odds are, this is exactly what they're thinking of.
The Master is book seven in The Submissive series by Tara Sue Me and I think it may be my favorite that hasn’t focused on the main characters of Abby and Nathaniel. Sasha has been an interesting character to me since she first appeared.
Having suffered a horrific BDSM scene that left her scarred and afraid of the lifestyle, Sasha retreated from her deeply rooted needs in order to heal physically and emotionally. Now, nearly a year later, Sasha wants to reawaken her needs and reenter the scene but she needs retrained in order to do so. When her BDSM group suggests Cole be the one to teach her to trust again she instantly balks because of his reputation in the lifestyle of being a hard and unyielding Master. Determined to reclaim her sense of stability Sasha embarks on a temporary agreement with Cole that quickly involves feelings and emotions that leaves Sasha with the realization that the only Master she needs is the one she can never have.
Cole knows he only has a limited time with Sasha yet he finds himself craving her in ways the fragile beauty is not ready to embrace. Treading lightly only results in heightening the arousal he feels whenever she’s around and soon it’s less about retraining and everything about needing her in his bed.
The Master is delightfully erotic and extremely entertaining! A one-sitting read is rare for me these days but once I picked this up I simply couldn’t put it down and I lost some precious sleep staying up late into the night. As a heroine Sasha was wonderful. Even with her new insecurities and fear of her beloved lifestyle she remained strong and determined to beat her own mind. Cole takes his time, going slow and easing her back into BDSM starting with her mind before her body. As she learns to trust him he pushes her further and further until she finds herself not fearing the submission she’d shied away from.
I really enjoyed the emotional connection these two shared and how Cole brought Sasha out of her shell with such skill. Cole never intended to feel such a connection and it scared him how she tested his tightly reigned and renowned control. After the ending of his previous long term M/s relationship of eight years Cole wasn’t sure entering into any relationship again would be a good idea. Yet the more time he spent with Sasha, the more he was rethinking that idea. He felt his needs might be too much for the blossoming Sasha to handle but the strength she displayed quickly made him rethink that idea and in learning that he started planning how to introduce her into a 24/7 Master/slave scenario.
I am eagerly awaiting the continuation of this series in the fall of 2016 where Sue Me again extends the story by opening up yet another world within the BDSM community she’s created. While I still love Abby and Nathaniel, the original hero/heroine of this world, I’m starting to crave the new characters stories she’s introducing. The Master is exceptionally written, emotionally charged and achingly erotic.
I give The Master by Tara Sue Me 5 stars!
••••••••••••••••
REVIEW: 3.75 stars---THE MASTER is the eighth installment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary adult SUBMISSIVE erotic, BDSM romance series. This is Master Cole Johnson, and submissive Sasha Blake. THE MASTER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
Told from several third person perspectives THE MASTER looks at the re-training of submissive Sasha Blake. Several months earlier, our heroine was left bloody and scarred following a BDSM session that went horribly wrong. While the Dominant has been reprimanded, Sasha has been unable to enter back into the world of D/s without frightening flashbacks or panic attacks. Enter Dominant and Master Cole Johnson, the man who has agreed to re-train Sasha for the lifestyle she once loved. Agreeing to help Sasha get back into the BDSM lifestyle, Cole never expected to fall for the woman destroyed by a reckless Dom.
THE MASTER is a story of trust; of overcoming the past; and moving on from the dark and dangerous memories of the mind. Cole is not an easy Dom-he is demanding both in and out of the bedroom, and pushes Sasha out of her comfort zone into a world of Master and slave. What ensues is a building relationship that that circles the abyss of romance and love. Most of the previous storyline couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including Nathaniel and Abby, and Daniel and Julie;
The world building continues to look at the BDSM lifestyle: the players, the participants; the rules and regulations; the possibility of finding the one who give you everything you want and need.
Tara Sue Me writes an intense story line of acceptance and love. The premise is gentler in style than previous installments; the characters are broken yet slowly healing; the romance is a slow build to a happily ever after.
More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives
Seven books into this series and I can still count on it to deliver a really fun and steamy read. The buildup for Sasha and Cole has been coming for quite a while now and I’m happy to say their story delivered.
My heart broke for Sasha. She is so lost, but also so determined and I really admired her strength and courage. I loved watching her learn to trust and open up once again and to see her face her demons.
Surprisingly Cole was my least favorite of all the male leads so far, still loved him though. I think Cole is just a bit too intense for me. But what I love about this series is that although I could never deal with any of these guys (seriously I’d probably drop kick them in about 3.5 seconds), I can still totally appreciate the relationship and root for it. It’s easy to acknowledge that while Cole is not for me, he is EXACTLY who Sasha needs and wants. And more importantly Sasha is what Cole needs. It may be a D/s relationship but there is still a mutual need, which I think is incredibly important.
As always, it was great catching up with the gang. Abby and Nathaniel are always great. I still adore Daniel and Julie, even if Julie’s hovering drove me bananas, it came from a good place. And one character we got to know a bit better was Kelly. Guys I want Kelly to have a book in the WORST WAY. I mean, we always have the power play with the guy in the dominant role but Kelly is a Domme. I just want to see the role reversal and see this switched up! Seriously. I’m all grabby hands.
All in all, The Master is another good addition to The Submissive series. I’ll admit I was hesitant when I first heard this series was expanding characters and beyond a trilogy, but I’m so glad it has because I’ve really enjoyed each and every book.
My Review:
Wow so I can't believe that the Submissive series is on its seventh - I repeat: 7th!! installment already. I was afraid of the trauma story but I really honestly enjoyed this one.
There were a few things I didn't care for however that did not change my opinion that this was a great book.
I love the understanding that for some in Sasha's situations it takes some extreme passion (not just sex) to breach the barriers to find the seduction inside.
Its not just Sasha that gets some training in this book either. Cole begins to train his heart not just his Sub in this pairing.
I really enjoyed The Master from beginning to end. Thank you Tara Sue Me!
