I don’t think Haley J. Munroe knows how to write a book I won’t love!
The characters are perfect and so is their dynamic. The way their relationship unfolds is beautifully agonising and the entire premise of the story is so unique and gripping. Minor characters stand out and Haley’s love for renaissance faires really shines through!

This was such a lovely sapphic romantasy with a modern twist. I loved that this took place in today’s world. There’s basically a real life fantasy world parading as a Renaissance Faire. The way the author set up the world and its rules makes it all easy to work.

I’d probably classify this as a cozy romantasy with low angst. The stakes are high but overall, the feeling of the book was easy going.

The problem was solved easily and the ending was a HEA. It worked with the overall feeling of the story. This was a quick read that I can see becoming a comfort read.

Heartwarming, sweet and cosy: "My faire lady" is at its heart, a story about two women who have been burdened by responsibilities for all their lives, finally learning to choose themselves.

Scarlet is a witch whose whole life has been centred around a Renaissance faire inhabited by magical creatures, and she loves them all like they're her family, but at the same time she wishes to be free to live and travel the world and feels caged by the knowledge that leaving could compromise the safety of all the folks running the faire... Especially since magic seems to be fading away for some unknown reason.

Lottie has been taking care of her younger sister and her sick grandma for almost all her life, to the point that she feels like she needs to be needed.

Their fates will meet once Lottie decides to accept a job at the faire as a seamstress to put together a portfolio for a contest that (if won) could grant her a full scholarship for a program in costume design all the way to Edinburgh.

I personally enjoyed this novel, though I found it to be a bit too short to fully explore the huge potential of the faire and the magical creatures living within it.
The highlight of "My Faire Lady" for me was the romance between Scarlet and Lottie; it felt genuine despite happening in the short page count, and both characters were well fleshed out even on their own.
The writing paints a vivid picture of the faire, reading it at times felt like watching it happen with my own two eyes, especially the arching scene!

I would definitely recommend it to people looking for a cute sapphic read with some fantasy sprinkled into it, and to readers who enjoy cosy fantasy.

While I can find mostly positive things about my reading experience, there are three points of critique for my part:
1. As I've said before, in my opinion, the book needed to be longer to fully reach its potential
2. This point is a consequence of the first one: because of the length, some worldbuilding and characterisation of some magical creatures were sidelined in favour of more romantic plot (which I loved, but I also wished we could see more of the rest)
3. [SPOILER] Boden and Kelsey: we don't see them develop as a potential couple, but by the end it's implied they had something going on. We barely see them interact, and throughout the novel neither speak of the other to Scarlet or Lottie, so it looks like it came out of nowhere.

I am so sad to write this review. I have decided to DNF at 40%, at this point, it is a 2.75⭐️ and I fear it would be less if I were to continue.

I was really looking forward to the cozy sapphic romance with a dash of magic. And while I did get those things, it was the bare minimum. My largest issue with this book is that I could not differentiate the characters, especially Lottie and Scarlet. Their voices sounded the exact same through the page, there was nothing special about either that made it easier for me to tell who was speaking/thinking while I was reading. They both read very flat and I felt no connection to them or between them despite what the written words were trying to portray. The writing also did not flow very well, I think there was some issues with the way sentences were structured and how words were arranged. Eventhough I read 40%, I honestly couldn't give you any details about the story other than what we already know just from reading the description. Despite being set in a literal magical faire, the world felt plain and boring. I was interested to know more about how the magic works and what kind of creatures are there, but I got nothing about any of it from the first 40% besides a few creatures being named such as sprites, sirens, werewolves, etc. I'm not expecting elaborate world building like a high fantasy would have, but some sort ot backstory or extra information would be nice, especially since we have many Scarlet povs and she is magical herself! It would be different if we just had Lottie povs and learned as she (probably) learned about the creatures, but Scarlet was interacting with and mentioning these creatures in her pov, the audience could still have this information even when Lotties doesn't. Overall the writing and story as a whole fell very flat for me and just read so dry. On the other hand, I love the cover and thought the bartender, Frankie, was kinda cool. I was more interested in Frankie than our fmcs when she was in scenes. I'm really bummed I didn't enjoy this book and wish it could be different.

🖤 MY READING EXPERIENCE
I am already obsessed with Haley's Ends of the Earth, so when Haley took a little detour to give us this magical masterpiece...I was all in. And she exceeded every expectation. Lottie and Scarlet completely own my heart. The yearning...The pining...The sweet little moments that had me kicking my feet. Absolute perfection. Beautiful world-building, emotional depth, magical chaos and enough angst to keep your heart permanently in a vice grip. I loved every single second.

💭 CHARACTER THOUGHTS
Scarlet has spent her life carrying impossible burdens and protecting everyone around her. She has built walls all around her, and watching Lottie slowly break through every single one was everything. Also...a lady knight? One of my biggest sapphic weaknesses. Lottie is pure sunshine. Kind, patient, endlessly lovable and together they made my heart melt over and over again. I am so obsessed!

⚠️ ONE SMALL NOTE
Be prepared to lose an entire day to this book because once it has you it is not letting go. I absolutely adored it.

My Faire Lady is a cozy and whimsical sapphic romance set in a Renaissance Faire that is filled with magic, creatures, and a witch trying to hold it all together. Scarlet, is the last witch protecting the creatures of the Faire and she is set on a path to try and save the magic when creatures begin falling ill. She happens to save Lottie, a seamstress, who is visiting the Faire and a small spark flares to life when they meet. The story is their journey of saving magical creatures, re-learning who they are as individuals, and trying to balance responsibility with desire. Their romance is slow and I truly love how Munroe unfurled their story and the tension it built within these pages. The overarching theme of this story is how one loses themselves in responsibility and forgets to live. Both characters can’t bear the thought of being useless and feel the constant weight of responsibility pushing down on them, and their desires and joy for life was stifled until they finally found each other. It’s realistic and raw and mixed with fantastical elements and soft moments that make the romance so beautiful.

I loved every side character we met as well! They are pivotal in the plot and they impact the main characters perfectly. Which leads me to my only complaint… I wish we had seen more of the side characters! They have such depth written into such a short book that I found myself wanting more their history and story!

I love the title of this book almost as much as I loved the story!

My Faire Lady was such a cute, cozy, whimsical read about two women trying to find themselves after experiencing loss and going through some challenges of their own.

Scarlet is the last witch in her family and is responsible for protecting the magical creatures that live on a special piece of land. To keep the land, they host a faire for humans, but when the magic starts to drain, Scarlet has to figure out what’s going on. She soon notices that Lottie, a seamstress trying to find her own path after her grandmother’s passing, seems to have a special effect on the mythical creatures and helps keep them from getting sick.

I really loved the side characters in this one and all of the meddling they did to get Scarlet and Lottie to realize that they care about each other. The magical creatures and the faire also added such a fun, whimsical feel to the story. The main plot was focused on finding a solution to the magic draining, but I really liked that the romance between Scarlet and Lottie was still at the forefront throughout the story.

I really enjoyed the pacing for most of the book, although things did feel a little rushed toward the end. I was still happy with how everything wrapped up though! Overall, this was such a fun, cozy read with a cute romance, magical creatures, and the whimsical faire setting.

I truly fell in love with Scarlet and Lottie. Their chemistry had me literarily giggling and kicking my feet throughout the story. Seriously, I had the biggest smile from start to finish while reading. Their tension and yearning kept me on the edge of my seat, cheering them on and maybe yelling some personal feedback. One of the best parts - the faire family cheering along Scarlet and Lottie was the readers voice in time with the story - thank you Boden!

Both Scarlet & Lottie’s character growth through the book helped me connect with them. Lottie’s journey in believing in herself was beautifully timed. While Scarlet learning to let go and choose herself was *chefs kiss*.

I thought the ending did the characters and the world justice and a cozy earned ending to all my favourite creatures - magical and human.

This is a book guaranteed to leave you smiling, giggling and wishing you could join their universe. Seriously? Who DOESN’T want to fall in love at the ren faire? I have recommended this to all my book friends as a cure for seasonal depression, and a cozy sapphic romantasy MUST!

This book was an absolute DELIGHT from start to finish. I adored Scarlet and Lottie so much, they had SO MUCH chemistry and the little meddling by Scarlets found family had me giggling. I had the biggest smile on my face for the majority of this book. It gave me ALL the good feels. 


Both characters had such incredible growth throughout the story, and I loved getting to watch their relationship develop. There was SO much tension and yearning that at times I genuinely wanted to scream at them to JUST SAY SOMETHING ALREADY!!!!!!! 


Also - THE SETTING!!! A Renaissance Faire was such a fun and refreshing change. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the little bit of magic surrounding it. 


Additionally, that plot twist really TWISTED. I can honestly say that I did not expect that but it worked SO DAMN WELL.


I really do believe that the ending did these characters justice; which left me with the biggest fuzzy feeling 💓💓💓


If you're looking for a fun, romantic, feel-good read with yearning, tension, character growth, a lady knight and a Renaissance Faire setting… add this one to your TBR immediately.

This was so lovely🥹 the yearning and chemistry was so strong and it was the perfect amount of slow burn. I felt so many emotions through this but most of all wholesome. It was really cozy to me and made me feel so warm inside. Cozying up with this book whilst it was raining really did feel like I was at a renaissance faire I got so lost in it. The ending was really satisfying although a rollercoaster, had me scared for the last few chapters of the book 😅 lady knights have my heart and this really hit the spot. Definitely read this if you love sapphic yearning, lady knights and all magical beings ✨

I had a wonderful time reading My Fair Lady. It was a good story, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the characters, and the dynamic between them. The plot was engaging and easy to read, with a romance that brought plenty of emotion and lovely moments.

I particularly appreciated the lesbian romance and watching the characters grow as their relationship developed throughout the story. It was a charming and enjoyable read that I truly appreciated!

I very much enjoyed this book! (got it through the kickstarter campaign)
My only complaint is that I wished it was longer. In part because I would have loved to see some more worldbuilding/lore, but also in part because I didn't want to say goodbye to the MCs so soon. Lottie and Scarlet balance each other very nicely and I wished never to see them stop interacting+growing together.
Otherwise, I thought it was quite balanced between the romance and in the MCs having lives outside of each other. Short, but sweet!

This was such a delightful read!
The world is so fun, living in a renaissance faire and going through the different “attractions.” The characters are charming and I read most of this book with a big smile on my face. A real slow burn with so much yearning it almost hurts and I truly loved both FMCs.
