When Javier Morales tragically dies in 2016, his family cannot accept it. During their grief, they sign an advancing deal with Bionics Pharmaceuticals, and Javier is recreated as an android. Human Code is set in a reimagined contemporary world overrun by human-like androids that suddenly begin to revolt, turning on their human masters as well as each other. The story follows Javi, who, after a devastating accident, is brought back to life as an android by his new bride, Mary, an employee of Bionics, the company responsible for creating the androids. Unlike the others, however, Javi has been designed by Mary to retain his humanity and memories of his past.
When Javi’s young human sister, Wendy, is taken prisoner by the rampaging androids, he and Mary set out to find and rescue her before her time runs out. What follows is an action-packed adventure with an intriguing premise and plenty of twists along the way. I especially liked the story’s exploration of what it means to be human when the line between humans and machines becomes increasingly blurred.
Human Code is a fast-paced, imaginative, and entertaining read that kept me interested from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it!
When Javi’s young human sister, Wendy, is taken prisoner by the rampaging androids, he and Mary set out to find and rescue her before her time runs out. What follows is an action-packed adventure with an intriguing premise and plenty of twists along the way. I especially liked the story’s exploration of what it means to be human when the line between humans and machines becomes increasingly blurred.
Human Code is a fast-paced, imaginative, and entertaining read that kept me interested from beginning to end. I really enjoyed it!

Thank you to Vee for gifting me with an ARC of Human Code before its release, in exchange for my honest review! Always a pleasure to read one of Vee's books.
This book follows a man named Javi Morales who is reborn as an android after his unexpected death. We read along as he navigates a different life from the one he's known before. This book had a lot of high-stakes action. Lots of android VS android violence. Vee has an interesting way of describing the mind of an android that leaves you invested in Javi's character. I love the way Javi's thoughts and emotions were blended into his android mind and how robotic-like he felt, but also human. Vee does an amazing job balancing those elements to make you believe he is truly a machine with a heart.
PS. Love all the Peter Pan references too and how they're sewn into a sibling bond.
I will for sure be following the next two books in the Human Code trilogy!

You remember Detroit: Become Human? This is very much like that, with similar underlying tones mixed with Peter Pan, in the best way possible. And I don’t think a consciousness being transferred into the form of an Android isn’t too far off.
It’s action packed, not too long of a read (just the perfect amount for a quick Black Mirror episode-like book), and hard to put down. It’s worth a binge read.
What I liked most was seeing into an android mind. The flashbacks, the error codes — it’s very DBH, like I said before. I could definitely see myself buying the official Kindle copy (and eagerly awaiting the second book). To be honest, I might read it again.

Definitely Human
This book broke my heart in the best and worst of ways. Most people say they would do anything to bring a loved one back, but would they bring them back as a machine and love them or think of them the same? I don’t think I would be able to honestly but I would consider it. Javi’s life is complicated in ways you wouldn’t have thought possible and the people he loved throughout his entire life are there but differently. Lovable Wendy is always there and supports Javi in ways no one else does. Will is by far my favorite because he says what we’re all thinking while reading anything Mary says. And absolute read and then re-read.

Arc review
What I love about Bee's writing is that her imagination goes beyond! It makes me feel like I'm watching a movie. The action, drama, and emotions regarding family love. Reading her second book did not disappoint. Javier is an android reborn since his accident. The androids in the neighborhood are going rogue, and he has a target on his back. All he wants is to protect his sister, and hopefully his parents will look at him the way he used to. To feel that connection again. The connection he enjoyed, but things are off, and he's looking for answers. His sister, Wendy, is too precious for this world. Loved it!

I’ve had the honor of being an ARC Reader for this sci fi work of perfection.
I read an older drafts after just completing multiple play throughs of Detroit: Become Human and from the first page I was captivated by Javier’s story and his quest to walk the line between human and machine.
There are soo many things I could say about this book. I’ve loved Vee’s work and the questions of what it truly means to be human and how to crack the code.
It’s a fantastic read. Hands down!
