Not much of a plot to this one but some lively illustrations of children playing and joining in with activities.

All Join In is a fun book of verse. It's very accessible to a younger audience as there is a lot of repetition. The book begins with 'All Join In' and ends with a different version of it, the overall message is that anyone can join in and say the rhymes out loud. The words are accompanied by the eccentric Quentin Blake illustrations which I love and I think add to the books feeling of madcap fun. All Join In would be ideal to read out loud to a Nursery or Reception class, there are lots of opportunities for actions such as during 'Sorting Out the Kitchen Pans' 'DING DONG BANG' and as the book is so visual it will also grab children's attention when it's held up for them to see. All Join In is an ideal book for making poetry and verse accessible and fun for younger children.

Beautiful illustrations by Quentin Blake with loads of things to find in each picture. There’s an alphabet with unusual things for each letter, All Join In - the title story - with great rhymes and a child’s perspective on the little events which make up daily life. This is a central theme for the whole book, which gives it the naughty appeal children love. And me, tbh!

Cockatoos is possibly my favourite story - years after I last read it to my daughter, the rhythms and words of the story, the sneakily hidden birds with their great expressions have stayed with me and the last line is just perfect!

Go out and buy this for any children you know - or for yourself: it’s that good.

A lovely book full of small poems - This is great for encouraging children to be enthusiastic, thinking carefully about rhyme and rhythm.
This book would be a fantastic 'performance' book - Encouraging children to read these poems out loud getting them to think about how to read it carefully.

This one is a classic in our house (shhh...everybody and everything in this books reminds me of our home - rowdy and lots of fun)

We are forever going through the house and announcing to each other 'WE ALL JOIN IN!'

I liked this silly book of rhymes, very much felt like it could have been Roald Dahl writing it, though without the sort of grotesqueness he sometimes emphasizes. Not sure if all copies of this are teeny tiny, but the one we got from the library was, which made it hard to keep track of!

Nothing too special but something that gives you a warm, funny, nice feeling when you read it. My three year old seemed fairly indifferent to it, though she liked the story where the kids rang the bell and pestered everyone.

Child friendly poetry book that involves many literacy techniques that are usually seen in poetry such as rhyming, repetition and alliteration. It has a cynical structure whereby it starts with a poem of 'We all join in' and ends with 'We all join in' but in a different context. I enjoyed how children could relate to each of the different poems e.g. how they all help each other in the family and how the children disturb each of the other family members by making too much noise.

My 2 year old had belly laughs when I read this book to them! Very entertaining for a toddler crowd, and there's a lot of repetition in the rhymes, so it's easy for the kiddo to chime in.

This collection of lively poems kicks off with 'All join in' and encourages exactly this behaviour! The poems are perfect for chanting aloud, together and includes lots of repetition and rhythm which makes it fun and accessible for all children.

I used this with a Year 1 class who were engaged and amused by both the comical nature of the poems and Quentin Blake's eccentric illustrations which accompany the verse. Not only is this inclusive and fun, it also can be used in PSHE to encourage children to all take part, feeling comfortable with their peers and not judging one another. We read this as a class (a few times!) ahead of a drama company coming to visit KS1 and it really prepared and excited them to participate in the workshop.

Ideal for Early Years and KS1, children will want to read these infectious rhymes over and over and enjoy getting to grips with the language and patterns used.

Fun book of noisy poems.

It seems like something my kids would like. It's a bunch of poems written by the illustrator of the Roald Dahl books, Quentin Blake. Most of the poems are about making noise together, except for the last one which is about everybody working together to get things done. There are a lot of different noises, and I think children would enjoy repeating the noises of the poems. The illustrations are cute. The poems are funny. You wouldn't actually want your kids to slide down a banister, but that's about the most dangerous thing anybody is doing in the poems. It's cute. The rhymes are entertaining to adults, if a bit noisy, but I think that's the part the kids would like. There's no message, just having fun making noises and rhyming sounds.

Great poetry book! Would be a fun read a loud to teach about poetry. Most poems are rhyming poems so this would be a good book to talk about rhyming poems. There is also no punctuation in this book of poems. It would be a fun book to use to teach children that sometimes books break the writing rules
