All I ever wanted to do was write books and be on the radio, so naturally I went to college to study advertising.
Four years later I find myself doing marketing for a “Chuck E Cheese want-to-be” restaurant chain. I was living in my hometown (Flint, Michigan), working eighteen hours a day, making great money and feeling like I sold my soul to the devil (or in this case, a giant kangaroo that looked exactly like Chuck E. Cheese).
Fall was in the air and so was change, so I quit my high-paying job to make $90 every two weeks working four hours a day, Monday through Friday on a radio station in Cadillac Michigan.
Only making $45 a week and only working twenty hours I had to keep busy cheaply. I did the only other thing I ever wanted to do in my whole life and that was to write.
I wrote romances and detective stories while in high school and sent them to pulpy magazines. After 30 rejection slips, I switched to writing novels and wrote them for only me.
That is until I met my wife, who read them, loved them, and said let’s share them with the world and make ten million dollars.
Fast forward to now, I’m still at it years later, still on the radio, still writing, still sharing and still working on those millions.
I live in the coolest city in Texas, Austin, the home of Willie Nelson, Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock and a serious bunch of hipsters. I play tennis four days a week and work everyday on ways to become a better writer.
I am married and live with two kids, three fish, a lizard and two white miniature schnauzers named Max and Samsung.
I have been published on Twitter (Alex_Austin)and my work often appears in Facebook (http://bit.ly/AlexvoxFB).

Danny Hunter is a ghost hunter. Really He is a Psychic medium, but he hunts the ghosts down finds out why they are still here and helps them move on. He gets paid very good money to do this and is very famous. Danny came in the world on snowy Christmas Eve with a man peering through a window at three whores and a pregnant trailer park psychic. You can just tell the man is bad news!!! The ladies work and live in a trailer park in Austin Texas, so a snowy Christmas Eve is odd. Coco who was fetched by Roxy is trying to deliver this Danny. The down sides to this are 1 the extent of her medical background is she was a candy striper and 2 the Danny was trying to enter the world the wrong way out!!! Mocha and Roxy are a lesbian couple that live next door to Rosemarie the pregnant psychic, they were watching it's a wonderful life and heard screaming. The labor went on for an hour alternating between long lulls of quiet and stillness and then brief blasts of screams and chaos. Mocha wondered if Rosemarie is dead and if the baby is also. Mocha looks at Roxy begging for forgiveness and says I promised we would raise Danny if anything happened to Rosemarie. Rosemarie told Mocha she saw her and Roxie growing old together raising Danny as their own. Roxy is wondering how two lesbian whores are going to raise somebody else's baby? Rosemarie saw them giving up whoring, and taking over her her psychic business. Roxy can do astrological charts and Mocha knows how to read tarot cards. Rosemarie also told Mocha that Danny will help them.everything is interrupted when Rosemarie screams and Coco tells them to help her!!Lightning flashes close and thunder shakes the trailer and Coco proclaims Hallelujah this baby is trying to be born! The lights momentarily go out with another explosion lightning fills the trailer and the creepy man peering in the trailer is seen by Mocha. What makes things worse is Roxy tells Mocha that she is seeing things because the window to the trailer is seven feet off the ground he would have to be a giant, but as lighting strikes again all three gasp as they all see him. They are relieved that he disappeared as Coco tries to pull the baby out again without success! The lighting keep coming and they see the cord is wrapped around The babies neck. Coco is stunned by this and reaches in to Rosaries and pulls the baby out but he is quiet. before Coco can do anything Danny took a huge gasp that turned his blue face red, but he didn't cry he would never cry. Rosemarie held her baby but it was as if it would be the first, last ,and only time. Rosemarie looked away from her baby at Mocha. She reminded her about her promise. Later they found the baby on the floor in a pool of blood, it wasn't his he uninjured. Rosemarie was gone, she disappeared. There were no footprints in the snow leading away from the trailer. Mocha was sure of one thing that man took Rosemarie against her will. Mocha also knew it was up to her and Roxy to take care of the baby. Danny grew and he wasn't like other children, he could see and speak to the dead. When he was two while sitting in on one of Mocha's readings he spelled answers out on his alphabet blocks. He couldn't read or wright, and he could barely speak but the dead spoke to him and through him. Roxy and Mocha's wonderful thriving business shot through the roof the day the two years old started giving them help from the dearly departed. Soon Danny was six and getting more and more visitors, the only place he could find any peace was the place he took Tai Kweon do and Tia Chi. The spirits never bothered him there. Roxy and Mocha searched for a legitimate medium that could help Danny Control his ability for a long time. psychic to help Danny but they were all fakes like the two of them until when Danny was nine. They found Roosevelt Leeks. He charged an exorbitant amount of money and was very selective about his clientele. Roosevelt never left his house anymore and had ballooned up to over four hundred fifty pounds. He saw them out of a room that was lit only by candle light, it seems any windows had been boarded up with curtains over that. The only movement in the room came from the candles that reminded Roxy of Christmas. Roosevelt seemed to read her mind and told her the candles were cinnamon and spruce. He asked for his twenty thousand dollars and explained the price made it so he could do only fifty readings a year. Roosevelt it very taken by Mocha and Roxy is not amused. Roosevelt does background checks on people just like Roxy and Mocha do but he unlike them gets information from the dear as well. I love all the characters but Roosevelt is hilarious and very blunt he refers to Roxy as Hot pants and Mocha as Ebony princess. Roosevelt says Danny is young but he has the eyes of a sad old man. Roosevelt gives Danny some good advice! He tells him not to believe the dead, they aren't reliable and are often mixed up and confused. He tells him about a machine that can case interference with their energy and it keeps them away. Later Danny is 21 and getting home from South America. He was looking for someone to help him control his ability and give him information on Rosemarie she was from Machu Picchu Danny is Incan. Danny's trip was a bust the man he went to see was a fake with an evil red aura and no one had seen nor herd of anyone matching Rosemarie's description. Danny reveals that his mothers live apart now. He lives with Mocha on the ranch/ wellness center in Texas and Roxie lives in her condo in Maryland, she is working a deal with The discover channel they want to do a reality show about the family. The man we think took Rosemarie has plagued Danny his whole life. His name is Black Bill. Danny sees Bill attacking homeless former priest called Father Steve and tries to help him while Mara a beautiful engineer student that can see Bill also and saves Danny and the homeless man father Steve from Bill but Danny has to give Father Steve CRP to revive him. The three of them team up to fight against Bill and another dark soul stealing spirit that has ghost children trapped in a friends new home. Danny and Mara have wonderful chemistry, fun banter. Father Steve, Mocha Roosevelt and even Roxy all band together and provide us with funny stories and hilarious banter. There is heart stopping action as well as a million laughs. I loved this book and hope there is a part two. I can't recommend this book enough!!! I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I really enjoyed it!!!
The entire premise of this book sounds ridiculous, which it is but it totally works! Let's see, an interracial lesbian/prostitute couple with a psychic child that isn't really theirs, a UT engineering genius student, a homeless Catholic priest, a demon, and a voodoo queen! This story is just like the city it is set in...Austin, Texas. The characters are impossibly diverse and quirky but with hearts of gold. (I think I passed a few of them on Sixth Street yesterday.) I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Well done, Alex Myers, from a fellow Austinite.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. The story is fast paced and interesting. A definite page turner that will keep you up or grabbing for it first thing in the morning. Alex has characters that come to life in your imagination and make you feel like you're a part of the story. The tongue in cheek humor, little romance and ghost busting is so refreshing in this book. Danny and Mara are great, they keep you on your toes regarding their relationship. Roosevelt is a fun and unexpected humorous person I was not sure I would like. Mocha is sweet, and one of Danny's moms, whom I didn't think would be a strong character, but I was wrong. Roxy is Danny's other mom and is such a rock when it comes to making sure they have everything they need. Father Steve was an unexpected character but very welcomed. They all come together to fight a terrible ghost villain called Black Bill, who is collecting souls. Will they be able to save these souls? Can they defeat Black Bill? All in all a very good story that has you looking for another book with these unforgettable characters.
I am so glad Michael Bunker suggested I read Ghost Hunter. I just finished reading Alex's great story and I loved it. The characters were so well developed they felt real to me, and they of course have all the traits of real people, so plenty of character development there. Great dialogue. Between rooting for the good guys and laughing with the characters, this book was over way too soon. I hope book #2 in the Danny Hunter series is here soon.
I received this ebook for a honest review from the author. This starts out great! Gives you all the background you need to really understand what's happening and what will happen. Loved the characters. The author's description almost makes them seem real. Great action. Scary stuff. And of course some love. Thank you Alex. I will be checking out more of this series.
I loved this story. This is a very fun paranormal fantasy. I was immediately vested in Danny's birth and the lives of the women as the opening scene played out!! I love Alex's turn of phrase and I found that I couldn't resist reading snippets out loud.
If you liked Kim Wells 'Mariposa' or just like ghost stories in general, you can't go wrong when you pick up this one.
I really enjoyed the story until the author wrote the word "Obama". Having OCD I have never been able to not finish a book I've started. This is the very first time I haven't finished a book. Very disappointing
