HE THINKS LOVE IS MUCH ADO.
Adam Greyhawke is through with marriage. After losing his wife at a young age, he’s more interested in carousing and gambling at the Heirs’ Club than taking another trip to the altar. That is, until he meets a bewitching young woman who captures his curiosity―and reminds him just how delicious desire can be.

IS SHE READY TO SAY I DO?
Miss Katherine Wright is accustomed to men interested only in her generous dowry. Adam’s attraction is far more powerful―he tests her wits and her courage at every turn, until she finds herself longing to fulfill an everlasting passion she never imagined was possible. So glad to be out of the historical funk. This one is definitely a winner. Katherine and Adam share a great connection. Their witty banter and challenging exchanges really build that sensual tension. Everyone seems to coddle Katherine but Adam pushes her to do more than she thinks herself capable of. Adam lost a wife and child and is reluctant in pursuing Katherine due to that fear. Yet he can't seem to keep his hands off of her. Their encounters are sexy as hell. Katherine has promised her uncle, the duke, that she would finally pick a suitor. The pressure is on but the man she wants won't commit due to his painful past. The story was well written and thoroughly enjoyable. The MCs were unique and dynamic. Looking forward to more from the author.

Savršeno ♥
Kako sam prve dve knjige ove trilogije ocenila sa 4 zvezdice, ova je definitivno zaslužila 5. Mnogo bolja priča, radnja i glavna junakinja koja me oduševila. Savršen kraj trilogije, zaista će mi nedostajati svi likovi.

Netgalley for an honest review.

Rating between 3.75 and a 4.0

This was a cute and sweet read.

Adam lost both his wife and child during chidbirth and feels responsible. It has left him full of guilt and a determination to never marry or have children again. Adam is a large man and the difficulty of the birthing was due to the child's size (hence him feeling responsible) and his wife screaming for three days that it was all his fault. He left London right after and hasn't returned in two years. But all that is about to change as he has inherited a title, money and a five year old cousin to watch over. So Adam, with the urging of his two friends returns to London to groom his cousin for the title as he will not remarry.

Katherine lost all of her family in terrible coaching accident. The accident also left her with a leg that sustained injury to the point where she needs to walk at all times with a cane. Katherine is a strong, beautiful women who has not yet found anyone she wants to marry after three seasons since her coming out. She lives with her very proper, kind Aunt and Uncle's. Katherine has endured much heartache and keeps it buried deep, trying to hide if from her family. She's coddled and at times smothered by her relatives but knows it's because they love her.

Katherine's Uncle is throwing dinner party for 30 guests and this is where Adam and Katherine meet. Dear Adam see's Katherine across the dance floor and is immediately drawn to her. He approaches her and asks her to dance (he never noticed the cane she had in the folds of her dress). What ensues is a witty dialogue between the two, as well as instant attraction and lots of sparks. The story takes off from there as we witness the development of their relationship. Adam is determined to teach and help Katherine dance as well as walk without the use of her cane, but not fall in love or marry. Katherine is in the process of finding a husband as she promised her Uncle she would by the end of the season. But maybe Adam is that man if she can convince him of what they have together is real and special. Plus, she is beginning to think maybe she can walk without that cane and dance....

This was a well developed romance with great character depth as well as good, steady pacing. It's well written and never really lagged. The romance between the two main characters was layered, adult like and had some wonderful dialogue. We had some good chemistry as well as steam. The angst for the two characters was mild to medium and we had some sweet and tender moments.

I found it to be well written, good pacing and nice developed characters with a sweet romance.

4 you can believe in love stars. Adam and Katharine spark one another's interest upon their first meeting which then leads to an unplanned game of sorts between them. They can't help their desire and interest towards one another and test the rules of society constantly. While Adam vowed to never marry or fall in love again, he can't help the feelings Katharine awakens in him. While Katharine realizes Adam doesn't want to get married, she can't help the feelings she develops for him.

Adam has loved, lost and suffered. He has an heir, a young boy that is one of his cousins, which means he doesn't have to marry in order to produce one. He's fine with that and ends up taking the boy in. He's fine with learning the ropes of being an in control Earl and being back in London. His feathers become ruffled when he can't help but be drawn to Katharine, lust after her and finally fall in love with her.

Katharine is in the market for a husband. Her uncles remind her time and again that this is the last season and she must make a choice. She's been picky thus far, rejecting every man that's offered for her hand. She doesn't want to settle for a decent marriage, she wants to be loved and to feel passion. It's a shame that the man who makes her come alive, who challenges her and who respects her as an equal is the same man that swears he'll never marry again.

I found the novel to be charming, passionate and such a good historical romance story. I do love a good one and this didn't let me down. Adam is fantastic, interesting and has depth to him. Katharine could give modern women a run for their money with her sense of independence and her wit. I loved them together and apart. The story easily kept my attention and I was left feeling satisfied by the last word.

This is the third book in the Heirs Club series. It works as a stand alone. For me, it was a 3.5 star read. Neither the title nor the back cover blurb accurately portrayed this book. With a title like “Wedding Night with the Earl,” I expected something with steam...but other than some kissing, it was almost clean until the end.

Adam’s first wife died painfully in childbirth and he’s vowed not to marry or have children again. Katherine was injured in a carriage accident that took the lives of her family but, as the niece of a Duke, she’s been overly pampered her whole life. When Adam and Katherine meet at a dinner party, they are both surprised by their attraction to each other. He’s not looking for a relationship, and she’s promised her uncle that she’ll finally pick a suitor this season. Adam is the first person who hasn’t treated Katherine as a fragile invalid. Because he doesn't know about her injury, he asks her to dance and can't believe it when she says no. I really liked this interaction.

I did enjoy the couple’s budding relationship and the time I spent reading this book, I just don’t think it’ll be one that's super memorable.

Men! *hits Adam over the head with an umbrella*
I get it, but still *hits him over the head again with a slightly broken umbrella*
Just one more for the road *hits him over the head with a broken umbrella*

Adam mourns his wife, who died in childbirth. I get it, and you have the right to mourn, and you have mourned. That was not the problem. The problem was his "I will never marry again cos my new wife will die too." Oh Adam, sweetie, no. That just makes me sad. He wants to go through life alone, I get it, you are scared, but then you meet the love of your life and you are willing to just let her go? See her marry someone else. Oh Adam.

Katherine, well she will not get an umbrella over the head. She is the niece of a Duke. She lost her family in a carriage accident (oh those carriages!). She has a limp, she can't dance. She has promised her uncle to marry within the year. She has a suitor she might accept. She meets a handsome Earl and is lost. And she does want him, but as you can see he had his issues. I do get why she would want to move on eventually and have all those kids she wants.

But this is a romance novel, we all know they will work it out...after a while. But before that there are stolen kisses. Sweet heartache and romance.
(I did feel sorry for the suitor, I hope he meets a nice girl, this one was so not for him. So now I do not feel sorry for you anymore. You will get the umbrella soon mister!)

A sweet story.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
This is book three in the "The Heirs' Club of Scoundrels" Trilogy.
Adam Greyhawke has lost his wife to childbirth and he hasn't gotten over it. He feels guilt in the fact that he thinks because he is big in size that the child was to big for the delivery. His wife had raised her voice and condemned him while dying. Now his friends has started getting married and having kids.. Adam is still against marriage again but does kind of feel that his friends are marring. Adam finds that he has been left a title and money after the former title holder dies. Also along with the title he has inherited a 5 year old cousin.. who would be his heir. Adam decides to go to London and setting the estate and such. Their at a ball he meets Katharine Wright who he is instantly drawn too.
So much so that he goes over to her to ask her to dance but she refuses him. After taking to her for a few more minutes she walks away and he sees that she is limping and knows now why she couldn't dance. Adam feels he can help her and tries too.. but while trying to he has to fight his growing feelings for her.
I really enjoyed having the book and hope that you will too.

Easily read as a standalone, this unusual story immediately grabbed my attention with a handicapped heroine and an orphaned child. A lovely Regency romance with captivating characters.

For more reviews, plus travel, garden and food topics with photos, visit The Zest Quest, my pursuit of a zestful life.

Adam becomes the eighth Earl of Greyhawke when his cousin unexpectedly dies of consumption. After spending two years in seclusion after his wife Annie died during childbirth, Adam tries to get out of his inheritance, only wanting to be left alone. When an orphan is brought to his doorstep as his legitimate heir, Adam is forced to be accountable for five-year-old Master Dixon as well. Without an easy way out of these newfound duties, Adam reluctantly travels to London to meet with his solicitors during the Season, bringing Dixon along with him. He's not in want of a wife, but he'll attend some parties as a distraction.

Having existed on bland food while secluded, Adam gladly accepts the Duke of Quillsbury's dinner party invitation. He runs into his two best friends who finally tell him about their wives' pregnancies. They had kept it from him because they were well aware how much Adam suffered right along with his wife for three days, when no one could help her or the baby.

It's at this dinner party that Adam is immediately drawn to Miss Katherine Wright and asks her to dance. Katherine verbally spars with Adam, refusing his offer. Adam can hardly believe this beautiful woman doesn't dance, so he does his best to charm her into accepting. When that doesn't work, he gets a bit rude about her refusal. In the end, he's the one who looks the fool when he realizes Miss Wright is walking with a cane.

This unusual story immediately grabbed my attention with a handicapped heroine and an orphaned child. The hero and his two best friends are charming together, quickly grabbing at my heartstrings with Adam's losses and their kindness in trying to protect him. Due to her own loss and handicap, Katherine is overprotected by her two uncles and her aunt. Adam shows Katherine how to live while piecing together his own life. Can they find forever happiness?

I fell in love with these characters. Katherine's backstory is well illustrated by Dixon's current situation. I could easily visualize this little boy trying hard to be brave. Author Amelia Grey wrote Dixon's character so realistically that he practically jumps off the page. Even though he was sad, Dixon said the cutest things that made me smile. The scenes Adam shared with Dixon were precious. There's also a dog that adds a heartwarming element. Lord Greyhawke is wonderfully mischievous and charismatic with Katherine. Katherine is cheeky and sassy, exactly the type to put Adam in his place in eloquent style. I could feel right away that Adam and Dixon both fell a little in love with Katherine from the first moment they meet her.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel as my introduction to Amelia Grey's talent. Even though it is the third book in THE HEIRS' CLUB OF SCOUNDRELS TRILOGY, WEDDING NIGHT WITH THE EARL is easily read as a standalone. I am very curious about Adam's charismatic best friends, so I'm sure I'll go back to read their stories in THE DUKE IN MY BED and THE EARL CLAIMS A BRIDE.

Adam's story is very poignant and his loss is palpable. I did get annoyed with his attitude toward marriage. His reasoning seemed skewed and without substance, so I couldn't understand why he didn't dare consider having children. When his reason is revealed, it all made sense to me. Although, I did feel he was a bit selfish with Katherine while not being protective enough of her reputation. In the end, he made up for his behavior so I was satisfied.

One thing I have to mention is that the title of this book doesn't really describe the content or its merits. I'm not usually a fan of romances where the wedding happens early on in the book, or takes up a large part of it, so thankfully this isn't that book. I'm glad I ignored the title, otherwise I may have missed this gem.

WEDDING NIGHT WITH THE EARL has one of my favorite themes, beauty and the beast, within it, although it's very subtle. Adam is known as the "beast" by society because of what he did while grieving, and Katherine seems to calm him. That subtlety was very nicely done.

WEDDING NIGHT WITH THE EARL is a lovely romance full of parties, good deeds, best friends who mean well, and loving relatives who almost get in the way. Amelia Grey writes engaging dialogue filled with sigh worthy emotion. If you love stories with children, then you'll fall in love with Dixon. He's such a proud little man and made the book come alive. An unusual and particular heroine is the best part of this enchanting Regency romance novel. I rooted for her happiness from the beginning and was satisfied by the very sweet epilogue.

3.5 stars;

So I'm a little unsure why this is called Wedding Night with the Earl (since this doesn't really happen until waaaaay later) but it was a very cute, fluffy read.
It would be the best thing for both of them if he turned away so they wouldn't meet. Now. But Adam still had just enough rogue in him not to want to do what was right but to do what he wanted.

I really like both Adam and Katherine. Adam is a bit of a brooding hero, determined never to marry again since the death of his wife during childbirth. Despite her bad leg, Katherine is a strong and brave heroine (expect for her fear dancing). I like that they bring out the best in each other, that Adam pushes Katherine out of her comfort zone and Katherine makes Adam face his fears.

There's a bit of an instant attraction but they're so sweet together you can't help but want them to have their happily ever after.

Also. Adam talking to his dog is adorbs. And Adam's little ward. So cute, the lot of them.

The whole book is just pure cuddly sweetness and with very minimal angst.
Dropping his coat and hat to the floor, he moved in close to her. "I want to kiss you," he said huskily and with more feeling than he thought he was capable of.

"I want you to," she answered breathlessly.

I really, really liked “Wedding Night with the Earl”. This was such a sweet story. Adam is still devastated that his wife and unborn child died in childbirth two years ago. He has decided that he will never remarry and will never put a woman through the pain and possible death that childbirth brings. He finds out that he is the new Earl of Greyhawke and also the guardian of a five year old boy. He reluctantly decides to take care of the estates so that he can leave them in good shape to his heir, Dixon.
Katherine was in a carriage accident when she was seven that killed her entire family. She hurt her leg in the accident and then reinjured her leg again in a fall down the stairs at nine. She now walks with a cane. She knows she is in a better situation than most women who walk with a cane, she is the niece of a duke and has marriage offers. Katherine really wants to marry and have children, but she would like to find a man she can love.
Adam decides to go to a dinner at Katherine’s uncle’s house because the food is fantastic and there he meets Katherine. He asks her to dance and she is dumbstruck, she wonders why he thinks she can dance when she walks with a cane. He kind of ribs her a little and wonders why she is just standing there staring at him and won’t answer his request for a dance.
After their first interaction, they keep meeting each other at the dinner and afterward. Adam wants to know why she still walks with a cane and tells her that he can teach her to dance. This story is extremely sweet and romantic. Adam is such a suffering character and as a reader I really sympathized with him. Katherine is a lovely heroine, she is strong even though she is partly an invalid and knows what she wants.
The interactions between Adam and Katherine are very sweet. I would have liked to have seen more love scenes and passion between them. I did enjoy their growth as characters in the novel and I would like to read more books by Amelia Grey. This book is highly recommended.

This is the first Amelia Grey book that I have read and reviewed. It is a story about a man who lost his first wife and child in childbirth and has vowed never to remarry and have children. Then he meets the young woman of his dreams and cannot seem to stay away from her. She is a beautiful young woman who was injured when she was a child in a carriage accident that takes the life of her whole family.

She lives with her uncles and aunt who love her but are overprotective of her lingering injury and she has become complacent and has never really tried to go beyond her supposed limitations. Adam pushes her in ways no one else has and she realizes she is stronger than she thought. They fall in love but can they have a HAE when he has vowed never to remarry and sire any children because he cannot be responsible for dying in childbirth. She is adamant that she wants many children and wants to name them after her sisters and brother that she lost when she was younger. Katherine will not back down and refuses to marry a man who doesn’t want children. She is going to accept the proposal of another gentleman. Will Adam let someone one else bed and marry the woman he loves, can he go back on the vow he made to himself all those years ago? Will Katharine really marry someone she doesn’t love just to have children?

This is a very emotional satisfying read. The characters are amazing and the story is charming, witty and clever. Amelia writes a captivating love story that will keep you turning the pages to the very end.

Unusual! Heartwarming!

Adam Greyhawke closed down completely when his beloved wife Annie died in childbirth.
When he unwillingly becomes the Earl of Greyhawke, he finds, much to his disgust, that not only can he not reject the earlship but that he has a ready made heir to go along with it.
Forced to go to London to attend to details about his inheritance he is stunned by a beautiful young woman across a crowded ballroom.
When Miss Katharine Wright, injured in a carriage accident when young, is confronted by a handsome man who sees her (somewhat) and not her physical disability she is intrigued. When that intrigue deepens into something more she is puzzled by his attitudes. As she comes to understand more it seems that this man who so challenges and draws her is not interested in marriage.
I loved Katherine's courage and Adam's uncertainty. I loved her directness and Adam's care.
The story evolves with repressed passion and a gentleness that makes for a wonderful and fitting climax for the final story of the Heirs' Club series.

This was an entertaining story. Katherine had lost her family at an young age in a carriage accident and has been living with relatives ever since. It's now her third year on the marriage mart and she has had any acceptable offers as yet. Adam is a widower, he lost his wife in childbirth and has vowed to never remarry and forced to suffer that kind of loss again. He does return to London though after a time and sees Katherine at a ball, he asks her to dance not knowing she is unable. When she walks away he sees she has a limp. Adam learns her problem and feels the need to help her and from then they keep running in to each other.
This was a wonderful story, and the characters were very likeable. Katherine was very grounded and didn't let her disability get her down, and Adam was a very loving and caring person, they made a great couple. I would highly recommend this book.

This was sweet. The name is a bit misleading. I expected a wedding much sooner. I liked the characters. Adam irritated me a bit with his attitude toward marriage considering his feelings toward Katharine. I liked how he treated her, though, considering how everyone else treated her. They were an adorable couple. Most of their issues were in their heads and based on lack of communication. An enjoyable historical romance read.

All in all I was disappointed with this one.

Good points:

Characterization: I liked the fact that the two main characters had something in common, namely their past tragedies: what I mean by this is that it was a good way of bringing us into the romance between these two. Unfortunately, this was not developed as it should have been (more about this below).

In general I liked the fact that the main female character was not intended to be a vapid, shallow woman. For instance, she had difficulty walking and was handicapped as a result of a childhood injury, an injury which happened as a result of an accident which also took the lives of her entire family. As a result of this accident she had been partly raised by her (elderly) aunt and uncles. She was shown to love her elderly relatives but to have been deeply affected by the childhood trauma she suffered, as well as by the physical toll it has taken on her. So in general she was a likeable character.

The main male character was also mostly likeable (at least at first, more on this below): he had been devastated by the loss of his wife a few years prior (i.e. she had died in childbirth) such that he had essentially lost the will to live, for a time. As a result he was understandably reluctant to put another woman through the experience, or to go through it himself again.

World building: This was very summarily done (more on this below).

Plot: In general my criticism of this novel centers around the plot as well as the characterization, so I will discuss this below, as I did not have anything to say that was good about this. The only good things I have to say here are as follows: (1) I have no problem with the fact that some stories are more plot heavy than others and that this one had a ‘lighter’ plotline, as that is the nature of writing (i.e. a romance novel by definition centers on the romance and may or may not include an intricate plot, however I have never felt that a book HAS to have dramatic events constantly taking place in order to be worthwhile, and some books can be more ‘introspective’ than others); (2) I do like the IDEA of two people who have some very fundamental things in common finding each other and learning to love each other.

Bad points/constructive criticism:

World building: One issue I had with this book (this is actually a frequent problem with romance novels) was that there were few historical details. We learn that the main male character (unexpectedly) inherited an earldom, and meet a few of his friends. We see the main female character struggling to decide which man to marry. These are the main plotlines of the story, and little time and few details regarding the time period are offered. For instance, the year in which the events of the novel take place is never stated and all I could glean is that this likely takes place somewhere in the 19th century, in England. Who was king, what the political events of the time were, what social and other struggles were taking place… none of this is explained or detailed in the book.

While I will grant you that this was a novel which focused on the personal (i.e. as opposed to politics and/or any other type of dramatic events), one point which would improve novels in a setting which is not contemporary to our own is to provide some details of that setting in order to help the reader understand what it would be like to live in such a world.

Characterization and plot: The biggest issue I had with this book, however, was the romance. We are shown that the two characters have something in common, in that they both have painful personal histories. This is when the characterization and the plot (i.e. the continuation of the romance, since we’re talking about a romance novel) basically end. In other words, and other than the main male character encouraging the main female character to try walking again, we are never shown any reasons why they would want to spend time together… other than lust, anyways. Most of the time the main female character/heroine is wondering which of her suitors (who are good men) she should choose, and agonizing over the fact that none of them stirs her like the hero. The problem I had with this is that, to this character and obviously to the narrator, THIS PHYSICAL ATTRACTION OR THE DESIRE TO BUMP UGLIES IS THE MAIN BASIS FOR CHOOSING A LIFE PARTNER.

Nope.

And I find that disturbing. I mean, I’ve got nothing against physical attraction, but it fades. Simple attraction is not love.

The problem with the characterization in this book was that I never felt that I got a good sense of WHY these two people would want to be together in the long term. Sure, I definitely got that they wanted to bone each other, but they were never developed as PEOPLE beyond the details I have provided above, so I never got to know what kind of people they were, deep down. Because of this, I also never understood what these two people had in common.

Which, for a romance novel, is kind of important.

I wanted to pick this up as the author mentioned the heroine uses a cane.

TW: Hero's wife (not the heroine) and child passes away due to birth complications

The story doesn't start off well as the hero, Adam Greyhawke is still grieving the lost of his wife and is fine being shot.

I guess he gets better because in the next chapter, he has to become a guardian to his five year old cousin, Dixon and heir to the title and returns to London. He has a meet cute with the heroine, twenty year old Katherine and doesn't realise she uses a mobility aid then they start a flirty banter.

Mortified that he insisted she dance with him and later learning why she kept turning him down, he is determined to apologise to her. Katherine on the other hand liked that he did not notice her needing a cane as it is the first thing everyone sees and she often gets pity.

I liked how he challenges her to try to walk and dance and she slowly becomes more sure of herself. I thought the title was inaccurate since they only get married and have a wedding night at 90% of the story. The blurb as well, could have mentioned Dixon and he isn't a scoundrel by the time he gets back to London, I thought he was wary to socialise. The scene where his best friend's wife is having trouble with her birth was tough to read as I was wondering if it would trigger Adam to her about it and be there. The flashback with Annie was uncomfortable to read.

"'Was it broken?' Lord Greyhawke asked, scooping two oysters onto his fork.

Twice. She could have told him, but she didn't like to talk about her injury. When she'd finally healed after the second break, she'd never again let her leg hamper her daily life except for the fact that she couldn't run, or skip, or dance like other young ladies. And, well, she had to talk her time going up and down the stairs, too. But with the aid of her trusty cane, she could walk. She could even carry a cup of tea from the buffet to the breakfast table without spilling a drop."

The death of Adam's wife and baby broke his heart. He's still young, but never wants to marry again. His handsomeness and his new title as the Earl of Greyhawke make him an attractive candidate for many women, but he doesn't want any of them. He isn't interested in being part of society and going to balls to meet a woman who can give him an heir. Faith has different plans though, when he vows never to fall in love again he meets a woman who makes his heart beat faster. Katherine is the niece of a duke and many men want to marry her because of her uncle's title and her generous dowry, but she doesn't want to settle for a business match, she wants to marry a man she actually loves. It's too bad that the man she likes isn't interested in a lifelong commitment and the clock is ticking. There's another man who would love to spend his future with her and Katherine only has a short time to make a choice. Will she accept or will she wait for a man she might never have?

Wedding Night With the Earl is a wonderful romantic story. Adam is a man who feels deeply. He doesn't care what people think of him, he does whatever he wants and he isn't afraid to cause a scandal. Because of what he's been through he can't be bothered with a lot of social customs. Katherine doesn't forget her etiquette, but she also has a certain spark and cheekiness. She challenges him and that's exactly what he needs. They have intelligent conversations filled with longing, unexpected feelings and confessions. Adam wants Katherine to be the best she can be, which is incredibly sweet. He follows his heart and acts on impulse. Katherine has been mollycoddled by her family all her life and Adam tries to make her do things that are out of her comfort zone, while in return she has a healing capacity. It's clear from the start that there's a connection between them, they have plenty of chemistry and there's an easy understanding. They instinctively know what the other one needs, which is something I really loved about their story.

Amelia Grey writes about people who aren't perfect and I instantly fell in love with that aspect of her story. Katherine walks with a cane and Adam is afraid of feeling too much because of the pain it can cause. I loved how they become stronger people because of everything they had to endure and overcome. It makes them more aware of what life is offering and what they want for their futures. I liked the way Amelia Grey gives her characters depth. Their determination and strength is admirable and it gives the story an amazing allure.

Wedding Night With the Earl is a story about the ton and the richness and splendor that comes with being part of it. Amelia Grey's descriptions of stunning dresses, interesting dinner conversations and fabulous chance meetings are vivid and entertaining to read. Adam and Katherine don't act like the rest of their social circle, they are freer in their opinions and actions and they try to live instead of just exist. I enjoyed reading their dialogue, which is fun and flirty. Their banter made me smile plenty of times. I liked everything about this lovely lighthearted story. Wedding Night With the Earl is a fabulous enchanting book.

It seems I read it a year and a half ago, oops. But since this was audio I know I needed to listen to at least know the narrator. But then I started---and continued---and suddenly I had listened to it all. I did feel it impossible to stop. It was a different experience than reading, I understand that know. Even when I read my old review I understood I had to write a new one cos I had different feelings. Even if I did enjoy it both times.

Adam lost his wife and baby in childbirth, and now he is all I will never remarry! Poor guy. He is all tormented and missing her, and blaming himself.

Katherine lost her entire family in a carriage accident (the bane of those times). She walks with a cane and knows that this season she must find a match. And she does have a suitor, and I did like him. Even if he had faults. He was a man of those times. But I still think he too should find a good woman.

Anyway they meet, they fancy each other, but he is all woe is me! No other woman should die! So they flirt some more while he ponders that and then they live happily ever after.

A really cute romance.

Narrator Barrie Krainik
I do enjoy historical romance on audio. It works so splendidly! I love the proper tone of it and it just feels even more so when you are listening. I gasp in feigned shock and giggle at things. And Barrie does a good job of getting those feelings. I liked her voices and especially Katherine's was very pleasant.

#3 in The Heirs' Club of Scoundrels Trilogy

Thanks to NetGalley for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I haven't read the previous books in this trilogy, so perhaps I missed something of the history that would have helped maintain my interest. Adam and Kathryn make an OK couple, but that's it--nothing special. The author had a unique concept for the characters that piqued my interest, but sadly they had no depth. Adam is a one-note character--I want you, I won't have you, I can't keep my hands off you, I can't have you, etc. etc. Ho hum. And Kathryn wasn't much better since only her accident was revealed without a lot of other character development. There was no real reason for me to hope for their HEA because I didn't feel I knew them well enough. That's not to say that I particularly disliked it, but generally I found this book to be very put-downable. I'm not sure I'll bother to find the previous books in this series.

I received a copy of this title to read and review for Wicked Reads

4.5 warm and fuzzy stars.

Wedding Night with the Earl was an excellent conclusion to The Heirs' Club of Scoundrels trilogy. Amelia Grey has an easy flowing, steady-paced writing style, which has the pages turning at a rapid rate, and I always look forward to whatever books she publishes.

I'm a sucker for precocious kids written on the pages, pets treated as a main character, friends who are truly friends and not frememies, family who is your #1 fan, and flaws and disabilities which empowers the characters rather than impedes them. Wedding Night with the Earl delivered on all counts.

After reading several books that were stressful, back-to-back, I was so thrilled to read a book that flowed fluidly, with developed characters without any intrigue or frustrating plot threads. Not that the story was without heart-tugging angst, but it was of the type that was with agony of the past holding the character back, not outside forces bent on destruction. All of which, I am thankful.

Adam was just a good guy, with a good heart, and good intentions. The readers have known him since book one, as his fellow friends always tried to include him, worried about his mental state after tragically losing his wife and baby during childbirth. He didn't ever plan to remarry or have children of his own. When the earldom is tossed into his lap, along with a 5 yo cousin, Adam reluctantly but happily takes in the tike, and in a heartbeat, he names him his heir.

Katherine was equally good, but also strong-willed in a way that most characters aren't written. Often times, the strong-willed female characters are illogical, so arrogant they refuse to admit they are wrong instead of right. Katherine was flawed, yet confident in who she was. I appreciated that this empowered women wasn't written over-the-top to prove she was a bada** while I thought she looked a fool. Yes, I just read several books in a row, as I mentioned above, where every heroine was stubborn, refused to apologize, and always right even when wrong (which I'm positive are all things that make our gender look bad to the opposite sex, and I refuse to celebrate the illogical, baffling way women are usually written).

Adam and Katherine challenged each other to better themselves, even when apart. Katherine still strived to better herself, for herself, instead of waiting or lying down and dying (emotionally). I appreciated Katherine's tenacity, her lack of game-playing, and her honesty, both within herself and others.

It was refreshing to have two mature characters written on the pages. Adam and Katherine were good people, suffering from tragic events, who truly deserved an HEA, and I enjoyed every page of their journey.

I'm sad to see this series go, and I'm not-so secretly hoping the author would give us the tales of the children of the story, all grown up of course. The strong little feller of this tale made me want to see him when he was an adult.

DNF at 80%

Was listening to this on audio and for the life of me I have no clue what is happening. Can’t be bothered to go back and reread everything.

The book was fine but wasn’t really interested in the romance. Moving on …

Adam Greyhawke, the eighth Earl of Greyhawke, lost his wife and child during childbirth 2 years ago. Since then he has been living in a cottage on the bleak, cold, and gray coast of Yorkshire which matchs his constant mood. He has no interest in being an Earl and has asked the Prince to bestow his title on his heir. However, the Prince has declined his request. His heir has been found and is his cousin Master Dixon Greyhawke, age 5. Adam will now be the boy’s guardian. Adam has no intention of getting married and running the risk of experiencing this loss again. As he has no other choice but to accept the Prince’s decision, he decides to return to London with Dixon, live in his home in Mayfair and take over his duties. It is good for Adam to see his good friends again and become part of the Heir’s Club.

Miss Katherine Wright, age 20, is a lovely young woman that Adam has met at a ball. He is saddened to find that she uses a cane to walk and is unable to dance with him. She is part of the Wilted Tea Society which is a group of spinsters who consider themselves to be ineligible for marriage. Katherine and her family were in a carriage accident when she was young. Her entire family was killed but she was left injured. After yet another fall down the stairs some years ago, her leg was injured again. Since then, she walks with a slight limp and feels more secure using a cane.

Adam is quite taken with Katherine and likes her personality. He just wishes he could get her to put her cane aside and try to dance with him. As they get to know one another more their attraction grows. Before long Katherine gives in and she and Adam practice dancing. He is hoping she will learn to give up her dependence on the cane. They are now falling in love and plan to marry but Adam is determined that he will never risk her getting with child.

How can they have a loving and successful marriage? Is there an answer?

I really loved this book. Both Adam and Katherine are damaged but are also strong. The feelings they have for each other is deep and has the potential to be very lasting. But, will it?

I think „Wedding Night with the Earl“ by Amelia Grey ist he 3rd installment in the „The Heir’s Club of Scountrels Triology“ and I think one of the best books I have in a very long time. Rarely do you see such a good character development, plot and some creativity!
Adam Greyhawke doesn’t plan to ever marry again because he lost his wife and child at birth, after three days of torture. He lived at the seaside after her death for years, alone with his big dog. He’s through with society.
One day a carriage is waiting for him and brings him his heir – a child. His cousin. He doesn’t want to go back to London but now that he has an heir he doesn’t care about marriage anymore and he has to take care of the estate, that’s why he returns so sort through things.
Katherine Wright, a natural beauty within her 3rd season meets Adam at a ball and he asks her to dance because she is standing alone on the side. She refuses but he notices her wit, the sharpness of her tongue. When she leaves, he sees her walking stick.
From the very first moment there is chemistry, lots of chemistry and you are totally sucked into this story. You want to know why Katherine has to use a stick and why she isn’t married yet. On the other hand you want to know why Greyhawke is so completely through with marriage. Both questions are answered pretty soon but there is more to the story – there is a special kind of magic.
I couldn’t put the book away and finished it after 2am in the morning and I have to get up at 6. I was literally dead the next morning but it was soo worth it!
Matter of fact: I think the title of the book doesn’t fit the storyline.
You have to love the leads, especially Katherine (there isn’t a single Katherine I ever disliked – Katherine Hepburn, Catherine Deneuve, Dana Katherine Scully, Katherine Beckett, Katherine the Great of Russia, Kathy Reichs, Kate Walsh, …) – so maybe it’s my affinity towards the name. But also Adam and his Pyrenean dog, the little boy (his heir) … it’s such a cute mix and the way he finds out that he literally is in love with her after all those years of pain and blame he based on himself.
The book is a must-read!!

Looking for a sweet read? A fun, escape? Then Amelia Grey's Wedding Night with the Earl is just for you. The third book in her Heir's Club of Scoundrels Trilogy I found it engaging and entertaining.

Miss Katharine Wright is the pampered niece of a Duke. Having lost her family at a young age and injured in the accident, she has been raised in the loving arms of her elderly relatives. Injured in the accident, they have held her back physically but encouraged her mind. Now it's time to repay them, to marry well. To relieve their minds and to give them a chance to enjoy their old age. Sounds great it's just the only man Katharine is interested in, will never remarry.. Or so he says.

Adam Greyhawke lost everything when his wife died in childbirth. He lost his wife, his child and parts of his sanity. It's been two years and he refuses to deal with society. Only society has demands on him. First off he is now the Earl of Greyhawke, second, he's the guardian of his heir. He has to return to society if only to figure out his estate. But one night out and he's already attracted to Miss Katharine Wright, a woman he could easily fall for. A woman he wants to stay away from, far away...

Like I said, engaging, enjoyable and entertaining. While this is the third book in the series, it was easily read as a stand alone but brought back characters from the first two books. They didn't play a huge part but were present and added a certain cohesiveness to the series.

I certainly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Ms. Grey.
