Sometimes love can turn ugly.
Sometimes love can hurt.
Sometimes the best thing to do is escape!

Leaving everything behind Izzy Parker escaped the hell that had been her life. Driving as far west as she could, to get away from her evil past she ended up in Washington State.

Izzy’s new life is turned upside down when she meets her Harley-riding neighbor Braxton Ryles.

Larger than life Braxton is a biker with a mouth to go with it.. Living and loving hard, the only thing that means anything to him is his daughter Eve. Upon hearing they had a new neighbor move in, his curiosity gets the better of him when his daughter won’t stop talking about her.

The instant their eyes meet, chemistry quickly turns into desire. His sense of humor and her blushing tendencies seem to sizzle whenever they are together.

The only problem is they both have troubled pasts, evil ex's that want to rip their new found happiness apart.

One-ex wants revenge; the other seeks vengeance.

What happens when their new found love collides with the ones who threaten to take it all away?

Can love survive? Or will their pasts burn their dreams of a future to ashes?

Love will be tested, hearts will break, and the horrors of the past will reveal a secret Izzy is desperate to keep hidden.

Defying Fate by Author Heidi Lis is a suspenseful, action-packed novel with an inspirational plot.

In this book, we meet many strong characters. Some you will love and some you will absolutely detest. Defying Fate is one emotional Rollercoaster read. Wow, how can I put into words how much I loved this book. We first meet Izzy who by chance happened to fall in love with a man at a very young age. Due to being young and naive, she thought he would be her Prince Charming but ended up being her worst nightmare. We also meet Kara Izzy's best friend who will do anything to help her best friend escape the hell she lives in every day of her life. Oh and we can't forget about Braxton the sexy biker neighbor who rocks Izzy's world. He is everything Izzy has always dreamed about but never thought she would have. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be a page-turner if we didn't have obnoxious characters that make you want to throw your kindle/phone across the room. Dominic is Izzy's nightmare and the things he puts Izzy through broke my heart. He is so twisted and the way he thinks makes you think WTF, but in all honesty, he made the book suspenseful. Will Kara and Braxton help Izzy escape the hell called Dominic or will Dominic be the end of Izzy? If you like mind-blowing, suspenseful sexy reads this is a book for you...

OMG Heidi delivered an epic read. Not only did she deliver a book that will have you chanting "OMG" you will also fall in love with her strong characters. I felt every emotion these characters went through and my heart ached for Izzy. When Izzy was drooling over Braxton yep you guessed it so was I. Izzy's character is funny, sweet and damn she's a survivor, you can't help but fall in love with her. Now Braxton he is Dominant but in every positive way. He's just sex on legs... I also found it exciting how the characters grew as the story unfolded. Izzy's strength to overcome everything she went through is truly inspiring. I am 100% a Heidi fan and I can't wait to get my hands on another one of her books.

My favorite Quote from Defining Fate

“Izzy, my sweet girl, you know I would never judge you. I’m no choir boy. I have done shit and seen shit that would make you second guess being in this bed with me, but I have no worries about you judging me. I’m not proud of all the things I did, but I can’t change my past. This is who I am. Only move forward and do better with what you got.” -Braxton

Izzy Parker was finally able to escape from the abusive hell she had been living in, before she ended up dead. Driving as far as possible, she ends up in Washington State for a fresh start. Izzy is quietly hiding away when she meets her sexy neighbor, Braxton Ryles, and she feels an instant attraction. Braxton is biker with a colorful way with words who lives and lives hard. He owns his own shop, so he has control over most of his life, and his daughter Eve is his whole world. Eve can't stop talking about their new neighbor, so he has to check her out himself, and Braxton is surprised when instant sparks fly, but both of them have complicated pasts. When both of their pasts come back to bite them, will they still have a chance at a new future?

This story kept my heart racing cover to cover. My emotions were all over the place, and I'm not going to lie, Izzy forgave Braxton a lot sooner than I would have, for his poor choices. The character development was great, with a amazing cast of secondaries. Sexy scene goodness is SMOKIN' HOT HOT HOT, and well placed humor had me laughing. Heidi Lis' talented writing style had me addicted from the beginning. She did a great job with twists and turns that made for HUGE OMG moments that shocked the hell out of me, and had f-bombs dropping from every direction. I'm a fan, so I can't wait for more books of hers to come out! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

4 Stars This is was an interesting book for me I really liked it but I didn't like bits of it at the same time.Izzy Parker runs from her abusive life she travels as far as she can hopeing to find a new beginning,She meets an adorable little girl and her handsome father.
Braxton hears all about his new neighbor from his daughter,as soon as they meet there is chemistry.
I did like the writing style but at times it felt a little disjointed for me,I loved the characters but found Izzy a little to forgiving too quickly for my taste.Braxton got annoying at times but overall a good tale with plenty of interesting turns.
There are some domestic violence scenes so if this is a problem be aware before reading.
I will read more by this author a good read.
Arc received for honest review.

I was jumping up and down when I saw the blurb for this book. It gives you a "Sleeping With The Enemy" vibe that has two psychos exes vs one and a hot biker vs a theater nerd. Sounds good, right?

Prepare yourself for major disappointment!

I Am Not The Grammar Police!

description

I'll point out if a book has frequent errors, but I usually leave it at that and move on if it doesn't impact readability.

I also try very hard to be as constructively critical of new, first-pub authors as I possibly can be and still be truthful to other readers.

description

This, however, is such a hot grammatical mess that I'm truly wondering if this author understands the concept of ANY punctuation marks : ; " . , - ' ? !

I shit you not when I tell you that EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE ON THE FIRST PAGE AND A HALF of this book is grammatically incorrect butchered. It goes far beyond mishaps, typos, and poor editing, and I'm not talking about split infinitives and such as errors. I'm saying this author CAN'T CONSTRUCT A BASIC SENTENCE with a period and comma placed correctly!

Just read the first page and a half for yourself:

"I've waited for this opportunity for so long knowing tonight is the night, I've been on edge all day."

"All is in order, I've planned my escape enlisting the help of my best friend who had my car in secret, waiting. "

"Fully gassed and hidden down the street, the keys to my future are tucked safely in my duffle bag under my bed."

"Sitting in the dark, I'm barely breathing, knowing he will be home soon."

"Trying to calm my nerves, I take several deep breaths, knowing if he suspects anything I'm in trouble, I need this plan to work."

^ It's like spin the tail on the comma and period to see where they land!

If you get past the first couple of pages, then you'll also be lucky enough to see the author frequently murder the semicolon, too! Yippie!

"That leaves me; the only female in the shop, the odd man out."

"God knows; they are growing on me.

The entire book continues as such.

It Can Only Get Better From Here, Right?

I keep reading because I really don't want a 'DNF @ 1%' in my reviews, and this f'ing travesty to the English language simply begged for a reason for its existence.

Sadly, I never found such a reason!

This book has dialogue that I swear came off a fifth-grade playground somewhere. I expected someone to yell 'YOUR MAMA' at any minute.

What of it that's not utterly childish is like a hulking slap of moldy, tangy blue cheese abandoned behind a trailer park.

The author took every single plot point & character flaw that typically irk readers and glued them together for this storyline...

description

•Psycho cliche Barbie'esc baby mama that just pops in every few pages in concocted drama... Check!

•A male MC that allows ^ psycho Barbie to run all over "his" female MC.... Check!

•Insta-lust... Check!

•I know I've known you like five minutes, but I will f'ing die, kill, disfigure Mfers, and sell my left kidney for you.... Check!

•Female MC that constantly degrades herself with 'oh, you can't possibly want lil ole me' and 'I'm not nearly as pretty as your ex'.... Check!

•Female MC that changes her mind with the wind... Runs every five seconds...& alternates between a Pollyanna ditz & a horny sex kitten... Check!

•Female MC that runs from an abuser marking and controlling her straight into a relationship where she WANTS the guy to "claim, mark, stamp, and fuck me into submission" ... Check!

•Female MC that finds her man straddled up by the ex and is pathetic enough to mouth "I love you" as she leaves coated in her own vomit.

•Male MC that could be an ad for turnip root soup.... Check!

•All around TSTL(ive) and TSTL(ove) characters.... Check!

•Constant unbelievable BS like the male MC is suddenly an inactive member of a motorcycle club just when his ass needs saving and that some twit can track down the female MCs gangbanger ex on the opposite side of the f'ing country when the only thing she knows about her is her nickname.... Check!

I'm done

At 50%, I stop reading to see if other reviewers were as appalled by this book as I am. The first review I read says that the female MC is kidnapped, the male MC screws his ex because he's so distraught, and the female MC instantly forgives and screws him the same day she finds this info out. So, that's the nail for me and I'm done, done, and done with this book!

Bottom Line

One of the top 10 most gawd awful books I've ever read. Is that mean? Maybe! But, I try not to call cat shit a Butterfinger.

This is one book I could not put down for a debut novel it was a wonderful read. This is one story that will reach in and touch your heart as you feel the pain of Izzy and all she goes through as she is on the run for her life. When she stops and makes a new life for herself one little girl takes her breath away. As she gets to know the little girls daddy she finds she might be in BIG TROUBLE. Who can resist bad ass bikers who can sweet talk with the best of them? He turns her life upside down as he does everything in his power to keep her safe…There is evil around in more than one way…

Heidi gives you a compelling story of pain, sorrow, more than one person should have to deal with from a mad man who is beyond control issues. As she tries to out run her past from the devil himself she finds a new place with a wonderful man who is controlling in a different way, a loving man who knows how to love and protect those he calls his own.

I loved the scene where she and Braxton meet I could picture it as I laughed. There is some serious chemistry going on between these two. They heat up the night with passion as they pull together and fight the evil around them. Each has an ex that will not be happy to find these two together. I do have to say Tiffany wasn’t my favorite person it would have been a pleasure to have seen her get what she deserved. Sometimes no matter what you do some people just do not get the hint and never go away.

Izzy is a very strong person she just doesn’t know it things will happen to make her understand just how strong she is. When one is abused and controlled it is hard to believe in yourself to believe you are worth something. When her ex takes everything from her and leaves her broke she makes one last stand as runs for her life. Knowing she must be careful so he doesn’t find her as she starts over with a fresh start. A new man wasn’t in her plans…one hot man…stubborn…exciting…. instant chemistry…oh my…..it is off the charts. There is no way she can turn her back on his powerful pull. I loved Izzy she is just a wonderful caring loveable character who has had to deal with way too much. It will blow your mind what she has had to deal with and what she still will have to deal with. It just breaks my heart to hear her story, I can feel her pain and my heart just went out to her. I wish I could have just grabbed her up and taken her away. Even through all she had to deal with she has a wonderful sense of humor, it was a pleasure to see her grow and become the women she is.

Brax a biker dude with the mouth to go with it, he so reminds me of my brother-in-law in so many ways. He is one hot big number who is strong, loving, caring with beautiful tats all over his body. He is a giving man who loves his family. Don’t get him mad he has one heck of a tempter, he can be controlling in the best ways, he wants his way, he knows what he wants and gets it. Eve his little girl is his world and he will do anything for her. He protects his own and lord help the person who messes with them. I love his sense of humor how well the author gives him strength but makes him a very loveable character.

These two will have their work cut out for them. Love does not come easy when you have other plotting against you. They will have many paths to overcome before they can truly have what they want each other. The say love is enough but these two will find out action speak louder than words, things are not as they may seem and the ex’s will do anything they can to tear these to part…..which will win evil or love?

The author gives you a love story inside a love story which is touching with a touch of humor here and there that keeps you smiling as you chuckle with the messes these people get into. There is drama from the baby mama who will not let go. She doesn’t want Brax but she sure doesn’t want anyone else to have him. This is a very touching read which will bring tears to your eyes as you turn the pages on a very painful read with very touching scene that will bring chills down your spine. The author writes in a way that you can picture the scenes some will blow your mind. I never understand how people can do the things they do. They call it a twisted love…it’s twisted alright but love?

I am lucky enough to get the ARC which I have waited a long time for. I have read a few things this author has wrote over the last year. I have to say she has grown so much as she is turning out to be a find author who gives you a wonderful plot with words that flow so easy. Before you know it you are finished left wanting more. For a debut novel this hits the mark as a new author puts her heart and soul into the work to give us a read that reaches your soul why tearing your heart into. If you are looking for a new author who takes your breath away with her cutting mind look no farther you found her. I highly recommend you give this author a try.

I was given this book for an honest review

5 stars

I'm trying to think how to put this into words. Yes I absolutely loved this book. Yes I absolutely hated this book at times. The characters for heartbreaking at times, strong at times, powerful at times, and vulnerable at times when it was needed. To see so much depth in this book was absolutely fascinating. Who says finding your soul mate is impossible. Learning to live through a hell and coming out on top isnt possible. Finding out that you are so much stronger than you thought you were, well that is just growth. This book had some dark situations and it will make your skin crawl at times, but then you find those vulnerable parts of this book, those ones that you see change is coming and it melts you. That is what this book does to you. You flips you back and forth. You are ready to strangle everyone in this book, then there are times that you stop and say wow they lived through that experience and gained so many good ones. I loved everyone in this book, except of course the evil ones. The all mesh so well together that the flow of the book works very well. Izzy, oh how much I wish I could be that friend that helps her through everything. She is so very much broken at the beginning of this book. You see all of the pain she is in and you just want to help, save her, but you learn early on that sometimes you need to save yourself before you kind the better things in life. She has had such a rough go of it. Her life is difficult, but she makes a choice and that choice is to run. She ran and she learned to live again. That makes her a remarkable woman in my books. Braxton, he has this beautiful little girl, but the mean mother to go along with it. He would do anything for his little girl. It is great to see in a book how a father is willing to do what is necessary to make his child happy. Finding Izzy is just icing on the cake. Braxton is a very strong character, he is this alpha male that you love him, but when he screws up you want to throw your book and call him lots of bad names. He grows throughout the book and for that makes him into the man he should be. The secondary characters are much needed in this book. You have the Dark Souls MC, Liam; Braxtons BFF; Kara; Izzy's BFF; Dominic, Tiffany, and others to complete this book. Everyone of them helps this book with all the drama that encircles the two main characters.

The story starts out with high drama and it continues throughout the book. The book keeps you on your toes throughout. Every step to a new beginning in this book seems to have someone trying to pull them back to the darkside. Every time you see happiness there is darkness yet to follow. Life is not easy and this book shows that if you take the happy with the sad, the cries with the laughs, the rough with the good, something remarkable will come out of it; you begin to live.

First time reading this author and I can say I'm in awe. The story is told so well and you only want to keep on reading. I cant wait to read Kara and Liams story because i think will only be better as their story was getting interesting at the end of the book. Great author. I would recommend her to anyone. She was a great new author to me and cant wait to read more.

I am a sucker for a biker story and I have to say when I read that the blurb I was convinced that this would have me chomping at the bit.
Did it? Well somewhat.
For a first novel it was a good story but I have to say my only issue was the fact that I would have loved it if the author had given Izzy a little more time to herself.
Time to find herself somewhat and just make herself happy.
I was so sorry for Izzy, she really had, had a miserable time at the hands of Dominic, but she had a great friend in Kara and with her help she manages to get away.
Now starting again is never easy but I felt she needs time to straighten her life out and rebuild her confidence but no, not too be, it was almost as soon as she was away from Dominic, that Braxton the super sexy biker and his adorable daughter that lives on her street has her totally enamoured.
I get that she wanted to feel special, I suppose she just wanted to be wanted for who she is but I was yelling at her to slow down.
Now, this whirlwind was always going to whip up its own brand of trouble, no matter how hopeful they were that they had found something that might actually go the distance and this particular hurricane was about to hit them with not just one but both barrels and first up its Braxton’s ex, Tiffany who comes barging into their life and she is not a happy camper! Let the games begin!
But with her own brand of crazy, Tiffany just being around is the least of Izzy’s problems because her delusional idiocy is nothing when it come to the scale of nutter that she unleashes, when because of her Dominic is back in Izzy’s life.
Her happy ever after just tanked, heck she may not have an ever after at all by the time Dominic as finished because he has no intension of allowing her to be with anyone but him, so he sets his own path taking them both to the gates of hell, from which they will be lucky to survive.
But kidnapping, abusing and degrading her is all in a normal day for Dominic but I was just glad that he had underestimated the bond between Izzy and his sister Kara.
The story was pacey, a little too pacey at times for me, I liked Braxton and his daughter but I think what I liked most was that the author gave me characters that I could really hate and Tiffany and Dominic fitted that bill to a tee.

Just by the way that this book started I realized that this would be a nice reading. The suspense on the first line glued me to my kindle and I could not stop reading.
Heidi Lis has a quite appealing, intense and simple writing. The way she ends each chapter makes you want to read the next one right away, because the way she leaves things open will literally make you go crazy without reading a few more lines.
"Defying Fate" tells the story of Izzabella. She is a woman who lives in constant fear. Her abusive and tragic past caused her to become an insecure and mistrustful woman. When all of those who were supposed to love and protect abandon us, we are hurt beyond reason and when they constantly tell us that we are worthless, we unfortunately tend to believe that that it’s true.
How can you start a new life when you live in constant fear? Can we be happy and love unconditionally when we were so hurt in the past?
The chemistry between Izzy and Braxton is palpable. The attraction between them is very intense and breathtaking. Their dialogues are very funny and I found myself laughing, delighted with everything that was going on. But as with any good story, we are also faced with quite sad moments.
Overall I loved it. I loved the comic factor and the feeling and love that this book set forth. The way the story unfolds is concise and very interesting. Of course the hot factor is very present and since this is me, lol, I loved every scene, and you will also love, oh trust me, you will!!!
Of course not everything was a bed of roses, because it is clear that in any good plot has to be someone very bad and mean, capable of the worst imaginable atrocities. The suspense was so intense that I feared for the lives of the characters. My god it was suffocating, it felt like it was me missing the air due to the fear that I felt while reading. There were many surprises, too craziness and love involved. And how should not be, the book had to end in a way that almost killed me. I’m so glad to have the second book "Sealing My Fate" because I think that I would not stand the waiting.

Well I have to say I really enjoyed this book. This is Heidi's first novel and from the the chapter it had me interested. This is the story of Izzy and Braxton how they met the things they endured from Tiffany and Dominic their ex's. Braxton is a big bad biker dude who owns a bike/car shop. Izzy is trying to escape the evilness in her world and this is how she meets him, ending up in his town and his neighborhood. It was fate. Izzy is in her new place which which loved saying it needed as much TLC as she does. She is outside planting flowers when a beautiful little girl Eve stops by and want to help. This is how she meets Braxton. He need to meet the lady his little girl was so memorized with and being a good father he did let his daughter just hand out with people he did not know. That is where is all begins.

The sparks were there from the get go when Izzy met Braxton, big bad biker was just a big ole Teddy Bear when it came to her. Tiffany who was Braxtons baby momma was having none of that. Let just say she is not a nice person. Find out what happens when she tracks down Dominic letting him know where Izzy ran off too. The hell he put Izzy through then things he did to her, hes a sick sick man.
There are a lot of emotions going on in this book. I laughed quite often reading this book but there is sadness and pain as well. It was a book that once I go into it I wanted to finish it in one sitting and I did. You also get to meet Liam and Kara who are their best friends and form their own attraction so I do hope in the next book we get to see more of their story.

I say for being Author Heidi Lis debut novel she did an great novel. I will read more from Author Heidi Lis.
I had the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story begins with Izzy making a brave escape from her abusive, sadistic husband Dominic. She settles in a sleepy little town called Monroe and finds and instant attraction with her biker Neighbour and his little daughter Eve. Yes i was hoping she would find love again and things would go great for her, especially when we learn even just a smidgen of what she has suffered. Biker Braxton is everything you want, hot biker, loves his little daughter with everything he is, alpha to the core, protective and oh yeah did i mention HOT?

As their relationship develops, the probverbial “shit” hits the fan, vengeful vindictive Ex’s become involved on both sides, Event’s secrets, and the ulgy pasts come back to bite them both, and each time when you think they are going to make it through the minefield, things keep getting worse, ending with Izzy seriously injured an life in the balance.

I really enjoyed this story, there was never a dull moment, although at times i felt it dragged a few things out a little it didn’t diminish the story for me. On a personal level, i really wanted Izzy to grow a back bone at times, and felt she let Braxton walk over her a little, and she give into him so easily. But then with the way she had been treated for years i guess that was understandable. On the whole i found it an enjoyable read with plenty to keep me engaged.

Looking forward to reading more of this authors books!

I was unsure of what I would find when I started this book, but Heidi Lis gave a book that literally kept me going cover to cover and would not let me put it down until I was finished. I loved the story in itself. I will say that the copy of the book I am reading is a revised copy, so after hearing things about another version, I gave the book a chance myself and I am so glad I did, because I loved the characters and who doesn’t like a sexy biker that is also a daddy.

After living in an abusive relationship with someone you thought you love the best thing to do is leave, but when you are scared of what the person is going to do to you, the only choice you have is to leave undetected by them and that is exactly what Izzy Parker does. With little to her name and only what her best friend helps her hide, Izzy sets out to find a new life away from the hell she has been going through. When she ends up in Washington State for her fresh lease on life, she never had any intention of meeting Braxton Ryles, the sexy biker that lives down the street from her or his sweet little girl Eve. And when your heart has been hurt so bad, do you really want to take a chance and let someone else in? But when Izzy and Braxton’s past show up can they weather the storm that it brings or will Izzy’s new found life and relationship be taken away?

I wanted to stop reading the book and marked it as DNF but I'm relieved I finished it. I find that their whole situation is like a wheel and i really did not like that. It would've been entertaining if Brax and Iz approached their relationship problems in an all different way.

I had a few minor things that i didnt really got a long with but I just let it cause it seems like those fits with the book but I just have one thing that really annoyed me through out the book and that is my dislike for Izzy and how she was easily persuaded or swayed by Brax. Honestly, every error he did was a huge deal and I wanted her to make him grovel because he deserves that. What I get was her being mad and then their cycle begins again. I had noticed this on their very first argument but i let it go and then it happened again. I was so not down with that. And then there was the whole alpha male thing with Brax.

The book was very well written though. It has an up and down pattern but I think it ended pretty great. I knid of want to know about their middle child though and how they reconciled but otherwise it was a good ending. I may have given this book a 3.5 stars but I'm really looking forward for Kara and Liam's book.

OMG!!! What can I say. Author Heidi Lis hits it out of the park with her debut novel. Izzy goes through a roller coaster of emotions & heart ache before she finds happiness. Once she escapes Dominic, her husband, with the help of Kara her best friend and Dominic sister, she thinks she's in the all clear to be happy and start a new life. Izzy is smitten with the little girl from down the street... And her biker her daddy. They start out doing the dance of flirting and sarcastic quips. He hires her as an officer manager of his garage. It's going along great until the proverbial other shoe drops, and Tiffany, Braxton's baby mama, comes rolling into town. The three of them have their ups and downs and twists and turns.

When Dominic finally finds Izzy, no thanks to Tiffany, he then abductors her, cuts her and makes her life a living hell all over again. But finally she gets her happy ending when Kara kills her brother.

The only downside to this book was it editing and even that didn't detract from the storyline. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes out of the box hot biker drama.

My Review of Defying Fate by Heidi Lis
My Rating 3.5 Stars
This story was a slow burn, and once we got off the starting line this book took flight.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Izzy and Braxton, they are hot!
Izzy is trying to outrun her past from a madman, who if he ever gets a hold of her he will do
More than dominate her, he will kill her. Izzy finds love with Braxton’s little girl and they hit it off
Perfectly. Braxton checks in to see who this new friend is of his daughters and he is mesmerized with Izzy. Braxton has an ex…Tiffany who enters the picture and she is a total bitch, who really deserves
To get what’s coming her way. This story has so many emotions you go through with Izzy and Braxton.
I’m hopeful we get a bigger look into Liam who’s a-part of Braxton’s brotherhood, and also Tiffany’s brother. Liam is the perfect brother for Izzy one she sure does need.
I enjoyed this story, and suggest you give this book a chance, it’s slow to begin with but has a great
Story to be told.

New neighbors attract in Heidi Lis' DEFYING FATE; a passionately romantic story that tests the virtues of love.

Hidden pasts and vengeful ex's haunt Izzy Parker & Braxton Ryles. After relocating cross-country to escape her past, Izzy finds new love in her new neighbor Braxton, a biker with an adorable daughter. Their passion is hot; their love-making intense; and it needs to be because the ghosts of the past will not abide. All that can be done to pry them apart is thrown at them, and as things escalate, we see how love is often tested in the real world.

DEFYING FATE is an irresistible account of modern-day love. The well-crafted characters will make you love and hate. The realism of the story-line is something very refreshing. You don't see it that often nowadays in the many romantic novels saturating the market. This story is entirely believable. It could happen in any small American town. The love connection is so powerfully described it brought my heart right into the pages.

Fate is what you make it. Author Heidi Lis shows us this to be true in this moving tale of life, love, and perseverance.

To say that I loved this first book in the Fate Series would be a serious understatement. It is one of my favorite all time favorite books. I fell completely head over heals in love with Brax and Izzy. There were times I wanted to throttle Brax, but mostly he just made me swoon. Izzy is spunky and feisty and such a strong character. I will warn you that she has gone through and goes through some serious stuff that will break your heart, but she will show you that she is nothing if not a survivor. I loved everything about this book and honestly was sad to see the book end. Brax rides a motorcycle and although he is no longer in an MC for reasons you can find out when you read the book, he rides a motorcycle so enough said there. Izzy and Brax also have scorching hot sex scenes to enjoy. He has an adorable daughter Eve who you will fall in love with just as Izzy did. I cannot recommend this book enough. If you enjoy a book that you will not want to put down from the moment that you start it until you finish the last page then make sure that you read Defying Fate. You will not be disappointed.

This was a great debut novel from Heidi. I was sucked in right from the get go. A sweet little girl who melted my heart and a hot biker … who wouldn’t be sucked in. Izzy was getting settled into her new little life with her hot next-door neighbor when everything goes from good to bad in more ways than one.

There was so much fighting against Braxton and Izzy from the get go. Izzy was running from her past that she wanted to forget and Braxton had his own problems that hit right close to home. These two were fighting demons that neither were actually ready for. This book had my emotions all over the place. One-minute things were going great and the next everything was upside down. At one point in time I wanted to crawl through my kindle and knock a few people out. Don’t miss out on this action pack story from start to finish!!

As soon as I read the blurb for Defying fate, I knew I had to read it. I liked this book, although the story did jump. Izzy seemed to quickly jump from one relationship, into another. I also have to add, if someone had cheated on me, I wouldn’t be as quick as to forgive if I was izzy Other than the jumping, I enjoyed this book.

I love all of the characters in defying fate; they are strong-minded but also scared/vulnerable at the same time.

Izzy & Braxton have read hot sizzling chemistry! They both have secrets, and mistakes are made. But in the end, Izzy and Braxton are well suited.

Izzy is on the run from an abusive relationship, just when she is settling in to her new life, she meets Braxton the hot biker, and his adorable little girl.

Will izzy get her happily ever after? Or will her past catch up with her?

Heidi Lis is a relatively a new author to me and I cannot wait to read more of her books in the future.

Another fall in love in a week

Really I had hope after reading the summary of this book, not so much about half way through,or actually after a few chapters. Izzy gets out of an abusive relationship, moves, then all of a sudden after just a week she is ready to start another relationship. Have some self control and get yourself together for a while, without needing a man to help you. Braxton has his own problems with his ex,so why put yourself in another relationship with drama, try to convince yourself not to get involved, then jump back in when he convinces you with sweet words. Then oh you are kidnapped by your ex and Braxton cheats with his ex because he is upset, forgive him the same day you find out. Have some self respect for yourself Izzy. Then the way the characters talk,is that even english?..don't waste your time.

3.5 ☆☆☆

This was a hard review for me. It had the potential to be epic, I felt like this book could have been life changing if the conversations hadn't felt so forced. This outline of the story was great. It really could have been an amazing love story. I thought that certain parts progressed to quickly while other parts were just very repetitive. I think giving good description is great but there is a fine line between not enough and way to much and at times in this story I felt like I could have gone with reading again how hot the characters were.
Overall, this book could have been great and maybe with rewrites one day, it'll be mind blowing. Regardless I do see this author going places and hope to read something by her again one day

Wow, this book blew me away. I loved it. This is one of those reads which enthrals the reader from the very beginning.
The two main characters are Izzy and Braxton. Izzy has had a horrible past, and with the help of her best friend, manages to escape and move away. Braxton is her hot as hell next door neighbour who is a sexy, tattooed single father. When these two meet there is an instant and intense chemistry. But true to form the path of true love does not run smoothly. The secondary characters are great.
This is a heartbreaking and emotional story, with the reader having conflicted emotions throughout. That said though, it is a wonderful read, and Heidi has done a great job. I will certainly be reading and recommending more of her work in the future.

This is one of those books that suck you in and keep you so wrapped up that the house could catch fire and you probably wouldn't know.

Izzy is a woman running from the horrors of her past (i.e. a complete psycho whom you want to kill immediately). When she finally finds a place to settle she meets Braxton, her hot, muscled, tattooed, neighbor.
Braxton is a single father with a evil bitch of a baby momma.
There story is full of passion and super hot sex, but also so full of angst that my stomach was in knots. I couldn't wait to turn the page to find out what was happening next.
I'm excited for the next in this series!

Four Great Stars! Izzy is in an abusive relationship and is finally able to escape, driving as far west as she can to begin a new life. Braxton is a larger than life biker and lives next to Izzy, raising his daughter. Izzy and Braxton meet and have an instant attraction. What will happen when their pasts show up? Ms. Lis did a great job in writing this story that was filled with plenty of twists. The chemistry is smoking hot between Izzy and Braxton. I recommend it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book club.

This is the first book that I have read by this author, so I had no idea what to expect. This was a really good story. Izzy has had a troubled past with a very abusive partner. This book starts when she makes a run from him to a totally different place where no one knows her.

Izzy quickly befriends a little girl which leads her to Braxton. I won't give the story away, but they have their fair share of crazy things that try to break them apart.

This book ends with a chapter of book 2 and it sounds like the crazy still continues to book 2.

A good story. The only thing that stopped me giving five stars was the sudden tome jumps to weeks/months later.

Edit this

If any of you have a hatred for books with misspelling, comma splices, run on sentences, or improper grammar then this book is not for you. I had to re-read sentences because I was confused a few times. There is no flow and the story is just okay. I have no problem with okay reads as long as their is flow to it. I had to force myself to finish the book because I hate not knowing an ending.
This just seemed like a rough draft.

Not what I expected. It has a lot of nail biting excitement. I can picture Izzy and feel her pain her joys, when she fall in love. This is not your typical bad boy biker book. Braxton and Izzy belong together, and though they have been put through hell, they always make it back to one another. I definitely recommend reading this book.

Wow what a crazy good read this was. There was so much that was happening I could not turn the pages fast enough. Izzy and Braxton were made for each other, they are smokin’ hot together. I don't even know how to review this book there is that much I don't want to say, I want you to experience it like I did. This was my first time read from this author and holy I can't wait for more!
