When Secrets Break
Three generations. Fifty years of silence. One podcast that tears it all apart. In 1972, a girl disappears. In 1981, another name is added to the archives. Now, fourteen-year-old Freya is pulling threads she was never meant to find — and someone needs her questions to stop. Right now.
A gripping, multi-layered domestic noir that will keep you guessing until the final, breathless page.
1972. A girl disappears, and a shadow falls over a family home. 1981. Another name is added to the archives — a tragedy passed off as an accident.
Now, fourteen-year-old Freya thinks she's just listening to a hit true crime podcast. But the chilling details match the unsettling whispers she's overheard her entire life. Armed with a dangerous curiosity, Freya starts pulling at the threads of her family's past — and her digging hasn't gone unnoticed.
When a sudden, terrifying flash of hostility targets her out of the dark, it becomes instantly clear: someone needs Freya's questions to stop. As investigator Diane circles the family to untangle the historical trail, she realises she isn't looking at a dead case — she's looking at a living, breathing trap.
In a family built on fifty years of illusions, the danger isn't just the buried history. It's what's waiting in the shadows.

Well written
This book started out slow but quickly grew interesting. Since it was written from different people’s perspectives, it felt like you had the entire picture. The wife, the son, the granddaughter and the detective all had their roles in solving the cold cases.

3.5 stars: well written mystery. I liked the varied narratives giving the reader different perspectives and how each one aided in learning the whole truth.
