Definitely not a romance, but the outcome of an egocentric captain of a hockey team who uses his position to scam a non profit foundation, run by his fiancé, to activate a new marketing scheme. The fiancé is the accountant and overseer of the foundation so he thinks he can schmooze her. The OW is the star of his marketing scheme who he promises he is replacing his fiancé with. He gets caught. By his fiancé. She finally sees him for who he is, he tries to gaslight her and spreads things about her that she is unstable. But written proof and documentation lay heavier than gossip floating in the air.
With all of the accounting jargon, which I didn't completely understand but loved the outcome of it, this story was really impressive. The heroine held strong in the midst of her fiancé not only gaslighting her but covertly replacing her. But she solemnly, drily, like all good accountants do, exposes him for who he really is: a shallow, handsome guy with nothing underneath.
