Also called “Canada’s Mr. Mystery”, Mr. Colombo lives in Toronto with his wife. In addition to writing and running a publishing company, Mr. Colombo has appeared on both television and radio.
To be fair, I didn't go into this book expecting much, but a surprising number of the stories were outright dull or only tangentially related to ghosts. There were a handful that were interesting and surprisingly funny, but if this was something I was reading on my own (versus reading out loud with my wife), I probably wouldn't have bothered finishing it.
Easily one of my most valuable sources, not to mention a great read for a stormy night. Colombo allows his subjects to tell much of their own stories, adding a welcome sense of authenticity to the tales collected here. From the heartwarming to the bone-chilling, there's enough variety to interest just about everyone.
I usually enjoy John Robert Combo’s work, my favourite being Haunted Toronto, but this one didn’t do it for me. I love anything and everything supernatural but I found this to be very slow. Though there are several interesting stories within the book I just couldn’t connect with it.
