Zoya Palseck was raised with all the conveniences her father’s vast fortune could purchase, but she was cursed to live without the love she desperately craved. Her mother was felled by a drunk driver when Zoya was but a child, and years later her father perished in a mysterious plane crash in South America. She has spent innumerable years shut off from the prying eyes of the world, hiding behind computers and the walls of her heavily secured home. When her father’s company is in jeopardy of being sold by an internal group seeking their own agenda, she assumes her rightful place and stops the mutiny in progress. That decision, along with a gift her father left for her kept hidden since his demise, will change her in ways she could never have imagined. The wild chase that ensues where everything she once held as truth will be revealed as a tangled web more dangerous than any she could conceive.
Jonathan Lange has served as Zoya’s bodyguard, legal counsel and guardian ad litem since her late father’s demise. He will do anything to safeguard her, help keep the secrets of her family and ensure the success of the Palseck family company, Viztec. Unfortunately, forces outside his control are out to right old wrongs, and Zoya is the last member of her family whose blood can provide vengeance and immortality of sorts. As a trail of bodies begin to stack up on Zoya’s doorstep, Jonathan will enlist the help of some shady security forces and any means necessary to stop those pursing Zoya. In the end the best weapon of all, will turn out to be Zoya herself and a secret “cure” that will change all the rules.
Just when you think you know how it will turn out, turn the page.

This was a First Read book, reading a copy sent by the author or publisher. Not really my thing usually, but once in a while an interesting blend of romance and science fiction can be enjoyable. In this case, the author had a number of clever ideas, and while the book could have used another pass by a good copy editor, it was very interesting. The romance novel aspect came from the two main characters, who were literally thrown together for a long period by Zoya's father. What I liked about this was that the Jonathan was solid, believable and, while attracted to Zoya, kept his cool in ways that were very believable. As her family attorney and several years her senior, this was a solid response. The part I did NOT like about the romance story is the way in which they were forced together by the science fictional aspects of the story. No, really, they weren't given much of a choice. Either they're a couple, or she basically lives her life alone and lonely. No other choice given. The author gets no cookie for that one. The science fictional aspects were interesting and odd at the same time. I very much enjoyed the complex twists and turns that finally came together, and I very much appreciated that all of these twists had something to do with the actual plot. I still found the "miracle drug" hard to believe, but by the end of the story it made much more sense, which I really appreciated. That said, the characterization wasn't wonderful, and there were a few really odd plot elements that I found hard to believe. Given the time line, the apparent long experience Jonathan had with his military friends doesn't add up. Same thing for some of the stuff that happened at the company, and its ability to hush up the medical failures in its past. Still, it was a fun read, and I enjoyed it overall.
I don't think I can say enough good things about this piece of work. From the beginning I was hooked. Ms Zoya and her new found abilities took over her world again and tried to make things right. In doing so, she learned secrets about the parents she adored, the company they built and many of the staff she grew up with. Without having her parents around to ask questions she had to investigate and figure things out on her own, or with the help of few very close friends. Her new ability is both a blessing and a curse. Once handicap, she has now found that she can walk, but also that she can tell people character and intentions just by a touch of the skin. Throughout the novel she builds relationships, finds out secrets and discovers the identity of the person who made her world a mess. Ms Angelica Kate did a fantastic job of leading up to the climax where things did not go exactly the way I thought they would. She made relationships with the characters that I longed to hear about. She had both good and bad, light and dark, good and evil entered into the mix and it was a good mixture of everything. Though the ending was not something I expected, and was a little weird as I am not a reader of then sci-fi kind of genre, it fit perfectly. It wasn't overwhelming, it just... Made sense.
Good suspense novel. Didn't care for the scifi twist it took about 75% in...rather like the last Indiana Jones movie that took that scifi leap and I'll never watch it again as a result. Up until then....kept me reading.
