Ethan is a normal kid, living a normal life, but he doesn't want to be normal. Everyone he knows always has better, more exciting stories to tell about their lives. Why shouldn't he have a story that everyone talks about? Well, today that changes. After today everyone will be talking about him.
"The Watch" is a short short story I wrote as an experiment in writing styles. It's short enough to read on a break while still being fun and entertaining. It is a fast, brief look at why some choices are made and the sometimes not-so-expected consequences of those choices.

The story is of a boy's decision to do "something" so that he will have an exciting story to tell his friends. That in and of itself could make some people shy away thinking it's not a good story.
If someone does decide not to read the story for that reason...they'd be very wrong.
The way the story is told is the real reason to read the story. Hayes does a good job of pulling the reader in and dropping a surprise storytelling method that will have readers hooked.
