The Orc Who Said Nothing

I'm not looking for true love on another planet. I'm just there to take the record. Every word, exactly as spoken.

Ten years as a court reporter, and I'd have testified under oath that Valdrek of Clan Stormbreak was exactly as quiet as everyone said. The orc who answers in four words and stops. The whole island calls him the quiet one who says nothing.

I'd like to amend the record.

Because behind a closed door, the man of no words has plenty to say. He undresses me slowly, and tells me exactly what he's going to do before he does it. He talks me through all of it until I can't think straight, and for the first time in ten years, I lose the words.

The silent one, it turns out, was only saving them.

I came here to keep everyone's words but my own. I didn't expect a giant who says nothing in public to spend every word he saved on things I could never put on the record.

For readers who love short and spicy fated mates, orc romance, scent bonds that bypass all higher brain function, a quiet grumpy giant who's devastatingly verbal behind a closed door, monster size difference (everywhere), he-falls-first-and-harder, claiming bites, praise and possession, and a dry-witted heroine who records everyone's story but her own.

He saved every word until fate gave him someone worth speaking to.

Wren arrives on an isolated marriage island expecting two weeks of court reporting before heading home. She preserves everyone else's stories while setting aside her own needs beneath professionalism and routine. She's used to recording other people's futures, never imagining fate has already begun shaping the future meant for her. Then an encounter with the island's quietest orc begins unraveling every wall she's built.

Valdrek may say almost nothing, but silence has never meant emptiness. Beneath his restraint is a devoted warrior who's waited for the right mate. As fate draws them together, his thoughtful gestures, carefully chosen words, and quiet care chip away at Wren's defenses until walking away no longer feels possible.

Their undeniable attraction deepens as two people who've spent their lives feeling unseen discover what it means to be understood. Trust, patience and emotional honesty burn alongside their chemistry, drawing them toward a future that feels both impossible and inevitable.

Wren lets go of hiding behind professionalism and self-reliance, believing she deserves to be seen, cared for, and cherished. Valdrek moves from guarded silence to emotional openness, finding someone worthy of the words he's protected for years. Together, fierce attraction becomes profound trust, unwavering devotion, and the certainty that they've finally found someone who understands them.

An ultra-steamy orc romance with fated mates, scent bonds, a gentle giant hero, praise-filled devotion, size difference, and quiet longing. It explores vulnerability, trust, communication, belonging, healing, and the courage to be fully known. It's about two people who've felt unheard finding someone who values every unspoken part of them, and a love that makes every guarded word worth giving away.

The Elevator Pitch: A reserved court reporter arrives on an isolated marriage island expecting to record everyone else's future, only to discover that the island's quietest orc has been waiting his entire life for her. As an overwhelming bond draws them together, careful words, unwavering devotion, and impossible chemistry force two emotionally guarded souls to decide whether love is something that can be chosen or something that finally chooses them. Beneath the passion is a story about being truly seen, trusting another person with every unspoken part of yourself, and finding home where neither heart expected it.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

Tu mi hai insegnato a cosa serviva.» Un angolo della bocca si solleva. «Ho rivisto tutto costantemente dopo averti incontrata. Il materiale andava adattato. Nessuno dei libri aveva qualcuno come te.»"

4&1\2 fabulous🌟 s for The Orc who said Nothing🔥🌟💖

This is my favorite thus far in the series Valdrek is the silent one and he's been in the program hoping for a mate for 14 months. When he walks in A room to have his answers recorded a scent almost brought him to his knees he look up and the woman taking alk the notes stopped cold and inhaled his scent. He knew with certainty that this was the female he'd been waiting for. Wren his a Stenographer she's here on the island to take notes that WILK help provide resources and funding so that the mate program will continue. She's not here to find a mate of her own, but that's exactly what she gets. When Valdrek the strong silent orc comes into the meeting room her whole body seizes up his scent surrounded her and she's noticed truly notice by someone for the first time in her life. Obese the course elf 2 weeks they get to know each other. Valdrek, only uses words when they are worth saying and he finds the person worth speaking them too and Wren is the keeper of words and feels privileged for each one Valdrek gives her. Spicy but filled with so much heart I love it💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟💖💖🌟🔥🌟🔥💖🌟🔥🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥

I had such a good time with The Orc Who Said Nothing! It has that perfect mix of humor, heart, and irresistible romantic tension, with a quiet, grumpy hero who turns out to be much more expressive than anyone expects. Valdrek and Wren have a fun spark right away, and the setup makes the whole story feel playful, dramatic, and easy to devour.

I especially loved the contrast between his silent public image and the way he opens up in private. Wren’s court-reporter perspective adds a clever twist, and her dry wit makes the romance even more entertaining. It’s short, spicy in premise, and packed with the kind of fated-mates energy that makes you want to keep turning pages.

If you enjoy monster romance with a protective hero, strong chemistry, and a heroine who finds herself unexpectedly swept into her own love story, this one is absolutely worth picking up. It’s fun, fast, and full of personality—an easy five-star read for fans of the series and anyone looking for a bold, romantic escape.

This was a lovely alien paranormal romance with a refreshing focus on two quieter protagonists. Both the hero and heroine are reserved, and that gives their relationship a very different feel from the more outspoken couples often found in the genre.

I especially liked that the heroine isn't actively looking for a mate, but she also doesn't reject the possibility when it presents itself. The relationship develops naturally, allowing both characters to build trust and affection at their own pace.

The hero's quiet, thoughtful nature complements the heroine perfectly, and together they create a romance that feels gentle, genuine, and heartfelt. Their chemistry doesn't rely on dramatic declarations but instead grows through shared moments and mutual understanding.

Overall, this is a warm and enjoyable read. If you're looking for an alien paranormal romance with a quieter pace, endearing characters, and a sweet love story, this book is definitely worth picking up.

4.5 stars. This short story is female lead POV, well written and edited, and a fast-paced, sweet and steamy, fated mates, contemporary fantasy romance between Wren, the female human stenographer lead, and Valdrek, the male orc stoneworker lead. I adored the match between two apparently quiet people who are fantastic at listening and finally find someone who hears them in their silence; absolutely beautiful. I enjoyed Wren’s commitment to fulfilling her contract balanced with her desire for Valdrek. I enjoyed Valdrek’s concern with ensuring that Wren’s needs were met, even when she was reluctant to voice them. I enjoyed the steamy intimate scenes and the way Valdrek had plenty of words there! I adored the sweetness of Wren’s role in Valdrek’s village and the reference to previous characters in the series.

⚔️ORC'S⚔️

This story is a masterclass in silent longing and an ideal match between characters, featuring that charming detail of the orc reading romance novels. It offers a deep, unbreakable connection that promises a lifetime of love, bridging the gap between worlds as these orcs hail from another planet rather than the typical fantasy realm. For anyone dedicated to orc fandom, this exceptional choice earns a five-star rating, delivering that perfect blend of romance and science fiction passion that every fan should experience.

Another short edition that reads like something longer because of how much it contains in so few pages. These two characters who learned early to be silent and listen. Wren listens and uses that skill to put down every word as a stenographer while Valdrek is a quiet warrior who doesn't miss a thing. These two were a delight to watch fall hard for each other.

The Orc Who Said Nothing: Her Orc Match

This one was quite different. I still liked it quite a lot. I guessed what our IRC was doing and studying to learn about humans. Smart man or Orc! The lady comes to work and finds way more than she ever could imagine. He doesn’t speak a lot but when he does, it’s exactly right. I love Orc’s! Wish these stories were true and there was an island that opened new worlds. Great Idea!

Don't judge a book by its cover. The MMC isn't what he seems but that works in the FMCs favor. This was a low angst story with all the feels and lots and lots and lots of dirty talk from someone who only speaks four words (spoiler: he speaks more than that lol). It's definitely lighthearted and the MMC is a romantic at heart. No miscommunication, immaturity, naivety, etc. Just a slice of life goodness here.

I enjoyed this adorably nice short story about an orc with a special kind of charm that works on the heroine by using words in just the right way. Great understanding between them.
I like what's been said at times very much, moments that made ears go pink.

Wren and Valdrek
I enjoyed this story so much. Valdrek is such an amazing man. Always keep your eye on the quiet ones. You’ll find out why he’s selective on what he says, and I think the reason is actually pretty awesome. Wren, an amazing woman, she knows who she is.

The Orc Who Said Nothing – Nellie Voss

Proof that silence can be a powerful thing.

I found this story stronger than the first in the series, largely because the orc himself felt more like a person than a collection of broad shoulders and good intentions. I began to understand him beyond the role he played in the romance, and that made it much easier to care about where his story was heading.

That alone is an improvement worth celebrating.

Where the tale stumbled for me was its pacing. Certain thoughts, conversations, and emotional beats seemed to circle back on themselves so often that I occasionally felt as though I had already read the page before me. A bit of repetition can reinforce a feeling. Too much slows the journey; I didn't need to know how many previous matches Valdrek had seen quite so many times...

The romance itself remains sweet, spicy, and easy to read, and the novella never asks more of the reader than an enjoyable afternoon's escape. There is comfort in knowing exactly what kind of story has been placed before you.

I simply wished it trusted both its characters—and its readers—a little more.

Sometimes saying something once, and saying it well, carries more weight than repeating it three times.

I found where Valdrek learned his 'dirty talk' a little contrived, too.
Because of course the orc learns how to talk to his girl from smut novels...

Verdict: ★★★☆☆

An improvement over the previous tale. This orc finally found his voice, and had a lot to say even if it's just for Wren, even if the story occasionally forgot it had already spoken.

What a fun story. Take one stenographer and one Orc who has waited fourteen months for his mate and sparks fly. She is there for a two week contract but finds her forever. This is highly recommended reading.

It’s always the quiet ones!

I have loved each book that Nellie Voss has released in this series. This is by far my favorite.
Everyone thought he was so quiet and then didn’t know why.
He just needed to find his mate and she got all his words; and his words were just perfect.

Wren never expected Valdrek to be so talkative since he wouldn't speak except behind closed doors with her. This story is sweet and cleverly written. They are a sweet fated mate couple and Valdrek only wants her.

Wren and Verdlek's story was an interesting angle. She is there to do a job as a court reporter - keeping the record. Not to be matched with an Orc. Verklek's been waiting for a mate for 14 months. He woos her. Sees her at a dimension no one else (not even her family) has seen her. HEA.
