This sacred book deals with the life and teachings of the greatest Acharya of Hinduism - Sri Sankara Bhagavadpada. Brahmasri Nochur Venkataraman.

Sri. Venkataraman is an Acharya of Vedanta. He resides in the holy Arunachala (Tiruvannamalai). He was born in Nochur in Palakkad (Kerala). Brought up in an orthodox Vedic tradition, he had profound exposure to vedanta jnana at the tender age of fourteen itself. His talks and writings on jnana and bhakti have already made him a legend.

Adi Shankaracharya had burst into Indian consciousness and transformed the discourse on man's relationship with the divine. He re-established the centrality of the Vedas and used the प्रस्थानत्रयी (PrasthanaTrayi) of the ten principal Upanishads, the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and the Brahmasutra as the basis for his exposition. Shankaracharya's exegesis is called Advaita Vedanta. This book is classic Vedantic work depicting the life and teachings of the great Jagadguru. As you read this book, you feel that you are traveling with Shankaracharya to all those places and get to know his teachings. This book is a door to self knowledge. He gives you purpose of your life. I took 2 months to finished this book. In future i have intention of reading it again. Every sadhaka who reads this book will be immensely benefited. This book is also available in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

This book takes you through a journey to your self. In the holy pond that was acharya's life the atman can be discovered is proven. Nochur anna's capability to convey the essence of jnana through acharya's life is simply amazing. The book has to be experienced, no amount of extolling can be a substitute to the bliss of reading it!

ஆத்மதீர்த்தம் ஆதி சங்கரரின் வாழ்க்கையை வேதாந்த காவியமாக முன்வைக்கிறது என்று கூறினாலும், இது உண்மையில் எவ்வளவு தூரம் வெற்றி பெற்றுள்ளது என்பது கேள்விக்குரியது.

இது சங்கரரின் வாழ்க்கையை வெறும் வரலாற்று நிகழ்வுகளாக அல்லாமல், வேதாந்த உண்மைகளை விளக்கும் ஊடகமாகப் பயன்படுத்துகிறது. கதை வடிவில் தத்துவங்களை விளக்குவது, சாதாரண வாசகர்களுக்கும் ஆழ்ந்த கருத்துக்களை எளிதாக்குகிறது.

நூல் முழுவதும் ஆசிரியரின் சொந்த வேதாந்த விளக்கங்கள் மிகுதியாக உள்ளன, இது சில இடங்களில் கதையின் ஓட்டத்தை பாதிக்கிறது. கேரளாவிலிருந்து கேதார் வரையிலான பயணம் என்று கூறப்பட்டாலும், உண்மையிலேயே அந்த பயண அனுபவம் வாசகருக்கு கிடைக்கிறதா என்பது சந்தேகமே.

Enjoyed reading through the life of Shri Shankaracharya Ji. Though the shlokas were difficult to understand, but overall felt blessed reading through his life journey.
