I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review. This was a quick funny, spicy monster romance. Absolutely loved this story Tanya did it again with this one!! It’s full of banter, fated mates, grumpy sunshine.

If You Give a Minotaur a Haircut was everything I didn’t know I needed. It’s quick, spicy, hilarious, and gloriously ridiculous. Sara is a sassy hairdresser waiting for her supernatural match when Henry walks in: suspiciously perfect, utterly devoted, and possibly hiding horns, a tail, and one very big secret. Their chemistry is instant, their banter is ridiculous, and Henry’s hilariously unconventional idea of romance makes him impossible not to love. Absolutely packed with fated mates, monster-sized spice and unexpected sweetness that absolutely delivers.

I’ve read multiple works from this author and her alter ego, so I knew what I was in for. The title made me smile and the dedication had me chuckling out loud.
This was very enjoyable: light hearted, fun, a little spicy, and funny at parts. I love that characters from previous books make an appearance, since this story takes place in the same universe. While this could be read as a standalone, I did get more enjoyment out of it having read the previous books/novellas. (If you’re looking to start at the beginning, read To Peen or Not to Peen? for the full scope of things.) The insider knowledge definitely makes certain things funnier, like references to Daddy-O Satan.
What else can I say? The author is consistently entertaining, so if you like things that are fancifully absurd while also being funny, spicy, and sweet then you really need to jump into Tanya Lynn’s catalogue and start reading!

Tanya Lynn is a new-to-me author, and apparently my recent adventures into monster romance have taught me something very important about myself:
I fear I am simply not a monster romance girlie.
And I’ve tried!
I really have!
But somewhere between shadow daddy and horned man looking for his fated mate, I started wondering when exactly my reading life took this turn.

The premise of this one is absolutely BONKERS.
Henry is a minotaur.
He’s trapped in a tablet.
And before he can find his fated mate, he has to essentially educate himself on romance by devouring romance novels.
Meanwhile, Sara has been waiting for her monster to arrive because apparently her best friend has connections to the supernatural equivalent of DoorDash.
And honestly?
Respect.
If your bestie says she’s getting you a man and then has a MINOTAUR delivered, she’s nothing if not committed to the assignment.

Sara was easily my favorite part of this book.
She’s sassy, funny, and just rolls with an absolutely absurd situation in a way that made this such a quick, easy read.
And all the bookish references?
LOVED.
There is something inherently hilarious about a supernatural creature essentially studying romance novels like they’re instructional manuals.
Imagine learning how relationships work exclusively from the books on my Kindle.
That man would emerge from the tablet like:
“So I’ve purchased a hockey team, joined the Bratva, acquired a mask, and started stalking you. When do we get married?”
PERFECT. NO NOTES.
😂😂😂
But unfortunately, even with a premise this ridiculous and fun…
I just wasn’t invested.
And that’s really what my two-star rating comes down to.
It wasn’t offensively bad.
I didn’t hate Sara.
I didn’t hate Henry.
There were funny moments.
The concept was creative.
The spice was there.
It was short enough that I never felt like I was fighting for my life trying to finish it.
But the entire time I was reading, my brain was basically going:
Okay.
Okay.
…okay?
😭
I kept waiting for something to click and make me CARE about Sara and Henry together, and it just never really happened.
Maybe part of the problem is that this kind of monster romance requires me to suspend a level of disbelief that apparently my brain refuses to suspend.
Because I can apparently accept a mafia man murdering half a city because someone looked at his woman incorrectly.
Totally reasonable.
Masked stalker living inside her walls?
“Awwww, he likes her.”
Morally gray cowboy threatening bodily harm?
Five stars. Put him on the shelf.
But give the man horns and a tail and suddenly my brain develops standards.
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE.
😭😂
And that’s especially unfortunate because there were pieces here I genuinely enjoyed.
The humor worked for me.
Sara’s personality worked for me.
The romance-novel references were cute.
And I actually think the concept of this interconnected world revolving around the other sins could be REALLY fun for readers who already love monster romance.
I’m just beginning to accept that perhaps…
I am not the target demographic.

And you know what?
Growth is recognizing when the problem isn’t necessarily the book.
Sometimes the book and I simply aren’t compatible.
She’s looking for someone who sees MINOTAUR and thinks:

And I’m looking for someone who sees Irish mafia underboss with severe emotional problems and thinks:
😏 interesting.
We all have our crosses to bear.

So while this wasn’t necessarily BAD, it was definitely a miss for me.

She did not.
I’m packing my bags.
I’m leaving the monster realm.
Someone please return me to my regularly scheduled morally gray human men.

Sara has been patiently waiting for her otherworldly match to show up. Instead, she meets Henry, who appears charming, attentive, and far too well prepared to sweep her off her feet. He knows what he wants, understands romance better than most human men, and has clearly done more research than anyone who has ever opened with “hey.”
Naturally, there is more happening beneath the surface. A lot more.
Here’s What Slapped
Tanya Lynn fully commits to the absurdity and never apologizes for it. This story knows exactly what it is, delivers it confidently, and does not waste valuable page space pretending readers came here for a detailed discussion of municipal zoning.
Henry is equal parts devoted, intense, and ridiculous in the most entertaining way. His knowledge of romantic behavior comes from an especially questionable educational source, yet he somehow manages to put that information to better use than half the dating population.
Sara is easy to root for because she is not simply standing around waiting to be chosen. She has insecurities, expectations, and a growing awareness that perhaps her ideal partner is going to require a larger shower and specialized furniture.
Their chemistry is immediate, enthusiastic, and about as subtle as a bull crashing through a cosmetics counter.
The shorter length works well for this kind of story. The pace stays quick, the humor keeps coming, and the steam does not take a scenic route. There is just enough emotional development to make the relationship feel sweet beneath all the horns, growling, and completely irresponsible levels of attraction.
What Could’ve Been Better
Readers unfamiliar with the previous books may feel slightly confused when side characters or earlier events are mentioned. The main relationship still stands on its own, but knowing the larger series would probably make those references even funnier.
Also, I now have questions about monster-friendly salon chairs that the book refuses to answer.

The premise immediately caught my attention: Sara is a hairdresser waiting for the supernatural match she has been promised, only to encounter Henry, a suspiciously perfect stranger who may be hiding a few horns, a tail, and one very large secret. Where do I sign up?!
Henry was devoted, intense, and unexpectedly sweet. His understanding of romance comes from an unusual source, which leads to some hilarious interactions and makes his attempts to win Sara over even more entertaining. Marshmallows in chicken salad? Hmm.. I’d give it a shot! Sara is equally fun. She is sassy, relatable, and willing to embrace the strange direction her life takes without losing her personality along the way. Their delicious chemistry is immediate, enthusiastic, and very steamy.

If You Give A Minotaur A Haircut was a delightful, sweet and smūtty short story. It was also the perfect *palate cleanser*. I was feeling stuck not only reading wise, but review wise, but IYGAMAH took care of and fixed that little problem, so fast.
I absolutely adore the sweet and funny tale of fated mates that Tanya weaves for us. And the fact that our MMC, Henry, is a Minotaur is just a bonus. I forgot how much I love monster romance AND monster smüt. Don't get me wrong, I love all my shadow mommy's and daddy's and pitch black, wreckless human men and women, but nothing hits quite like a good old monster + monster f@&*ing human tale of love, smut and large loads, *winkwink*. Also, honestly, despite what the tropes list says, there is an actual plot here. Henry and Sara's story is as romantic and adorable as it is funny, spicy and cold shower worthy. Okay, this one was so ridiculously fun 😂. The title alone had me curious, but the actual story was every bit as quirky and entertaining as I hoped it would be.
Sara is waiting for her monster to arrive, only to end up with Henry instead and let's just say Henry is definitely not what she expected. I loved the weirdness of the whole setup, especially the idea of a minotaur getting stuck in a tablet and having to learn about romance through romance novels. It's completely bonkers, but somehow it works.
Sara was a great heroine, and I really enjoyed watching her relationship with Henry develop. Their first impressions couldn't have been more chaotic, but underneath all the humour was a genuinely sweet story about discovering that someone can be so much more than what they appear to be.
Henry definitely stole the show for me. He's awkward, unusual and absolutely adorable in his own strange way. The horns and tail are just part of the package! 😂
This was a quick, lighthearted read with plenty of humour, a wonderfully bizarre premise and characters that kept me entertained. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's exactly what made it such a fun escape.
If you're looking for something completely different, funny, quirky and packed with monster-romance charm, definitely give this one a try.

If You Give a Minotaur a Haircut is a monster romance novella by Tanya Lynn.
I genuinely had the biggest smile on my face the entire time I was reading this. I expected a cute, funny monster romance because of the title, but I didn't expect to fall so hard for this sweet Minotaur.
Sara and her unexpected meeting with him starts with something as simple as a haircut, and I loved how Tanya Lynn turned such an ordinary moment into the beginning of such a charming love story. Their interactions felt so effortless. The flirting was awkward in the cutest way, the banter made me laugh, and every little moment between them just made me want to keep reading.
The Minotaur was easily my favourite part of the book. He's big, intimidating on the outside, but underneath he's so gentle, patient, and absolutely devoted. He's the definition of a cinnamon-roll hero, and I was completely obsessed with him by the end.
It gave me just enough romance, humour, and spice to leave me completely satisfied.

Okay, Tanya… a MINOTAUR?! 😂🐂
I went into this expecting a quick, fun spicy romance and somehow ended up completely charmed by Henry. The banter, the fated mates, the grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and the absolute ridiculousness of some of those food creations had me CACKLING. 😂
I’m not even a huge monster romance reader, but I flew through this one. It was spicy, hilarious, ridiculously cute, and exactly the kind of lighthearted chaos I didn’t know I needed. Definitely a nice palate cleanser/ Slump breaker!!
And those little nods to her other books?! I LOVE when authors sneak those in.. especially books I've read before!!

If you’re looking for a story that leaves you saying “ what did I just read?” Then this story is for you! This story has everything you could want! It’s short, smutty, sinfully delightful and did I already say smutty 🤭. The FMC, Sara, is a sassy, fiery hairstylist who slays at doing hair and has been waiting for her monster to arrive. The MMC, Henry, is Minotaur/soul sucking demon sent by Satan to continue his experiment of demon/human relationships. He is a total walking green flag who LOVES reading smut books and uses them like instruction manuals 😉.
Special suprises: I absolutely loved all the little easter eggs of past books by Tanya that are mentioned in this story! 😘

Tanya has done it again, mate. I stepped into this thinking it’d be a sweet, gentle romance, and I walked out utterly blown away. Now I’m sitting here dreaming of my very own Romance—something sweet, sexy, and fiercely protective—a Minotaur to call mine. And honestly, how am I supposed to find one? No way, no how. Tanya, you’re absolutely wrecking me—in the best damn way—for real-life blokes. 🤣
Every little nod to your other works in this story had me grinning from ear to ear. This book knows exactly what it is, and it grabs hold with both hands and goes all in. It’s quirky. It’s hilarious. It’s downright adorable. And it doesn’t give a toss what anyone thinks—because why should it? The story is bloody brilliant. I can’t promise you won’t come out forever changed after reading this, but I can absolutely promise you’ll never, ever regret it.

Imagine you’re told that you will be sent to find your fated mate but the next thing you know you’re inside of a tablet and the only way to get out is by devouring all the spicy books on there. That is where our MMC finds himself. I absolutely loved this book. While the FMC is searching high and low for this being that was promised to her little does she know he is right infront of her face it’s just not time for her to see him yet. I loved the way the author dropped hints about which of deadly sins the MMC is but it doesn’t fully click until he is revealed. I also loved how although this is a super short read the FMC was not immediately in love with the MMC on like page 5.

Leave it to my girl Tanya to write a book about a 6’7” Minotaur who loves spicy romance books and wears slutty little glasses 🫣😍
Honestly, this novella was exactly what I needed in my life. I also love that it’s within the same universe as Rocking around her Core and To Peen or Not to Peen. Daddy-O Satan really seems to know what he’s doing with making his monsters Fated Mates!
Henry was the ultimate sweet talking, date planning, sexual GOD book boyfriend you didn’t know you needed.
& Sara? She just needed the right man to make her the confident baddie we all knew she could be.

He Is immediately obsessed
My favorite part of this was the Minotaur stuck in a tablet binging the other books by this author.
I will say that for me this was the least exciting of the books in thus series so far. This one seemed too instant love and easy. The others had to work for their happy ending.
I did find his food choices highly disturbing but also they made perfect sense when he was representing gluttony.
I appreciate that he was added to the book club. I also found it funny the the FMC kept bringing up him c*ming in his pants.
I'm definitely curious what the next book will be. What sin and what creature could be next?

If You Give a Minotaur a Haircut was every bit as ridiculous, charming, and entertaining as the title promises. It takes a simple idea and runs with it, creating a story that is equal parts funny, chaotic, and surprisingly endearing. I found myself smiling through the entire book because it never took itself too seriously while still delivering characters that were easy to root for. This was such a fun palate cleanser. If you’re looking for something lighthearted with plenty of humor, monster shenanigans, and a story that fully commits to the bit, this is absolutely worth picking up. I had a great time with it and will definitely be reading more from Tanya Lynn.

This was too cute, so sweet, and the spice 🥵. I adored Henry. His knowledge from all of his reading is those novels was cute. Then being pulled into a tablet…and Sarah is sitting in the salon wishing for her dream man, or Minotaur. When he comes in needing a cut ands a trim, horn trim that is. These two connected in the cutest way ever. He was possessive of her but in a good way. Never overbearing, just protective. And she was so good to him. I absolutely adored the hell out of these two. Such a fun read. I can’t wait read more ❤️

When a book starts with the warning "Smut is the plot and the plot is smut," you already know it's going to be a masterpiece! It's light, short, has a sweet love story, and features plenty of smutty goodness. I definitely enjoyed it and highly recommend it. While I was a little lost regarding some of the side characters, the story kept me engaged enough to want to check out the other books in the series.

Henry is the absolute sweetest, even if he is almost 7 foot and a monster. Sara is our hesitant and more grumpy one and I loved that.

This one wasn’t my favorite, but it also wasn’t bad. I think it’s right in the middle for me. Super cute fast read. Loved Sara and her sass. All the mentioning of books was great as a reader. I enjoyed the concept of this book and hope to see more about the other sins! Spice level was good, but not too much. Definitely some humor in this book which I loved. It’s pure fun smut and I was here for it!

This is a charming, sweet, and delightfully spicy romance featuring fantastic chemistry between Sarah and Henry. This was a fun, spicy monster romance full of banter, grumpiness, and fated mates. If you give a Minotaur a Haircut is a great short story full of banter, strange foods, secrets, embarrassing situations and lots of spice!! Sara is a hairdresser and keeps waiting for her perfect monster to come sweep her off her feet like her friend Nova. Henry finds himself stuck in an e-reader, trying to figure out what he has to do to fulfill his part of Satan’s plan. Fantastic read and I can’t wait to see what Tanya comes out with next!!
