I’d so much love to give this 5 stars for the wonderful storytelling, but honestly, the editing just sucks! Somewhere along the way, Nat’s name changed to Nate. In all of the previous books, his name was Nat. So im not sure why the name changed. I found duplicate words and missing quotation marks. For me, it makes it super hard to read, and I have to go back over the wording multiple times to correct it in my head so it sounds right. I have noticed her editing gets worse with each book. And it also starts getting worse as the book goes on. If the writer got a new editor, her books would be a 10/5 stars!
Overall, it's definitely worth the read; just be prepared for the editing issues.
Maggie is beside herself when there's a shooting involving Griswold (Brian) at The Corset & her aunt is a witness. Shady stuff is happening and Fowler the IA cop is still after her (he was in previous book). Maggie befriends a homeless man and adds another animal to her menagerie. Godzilla was such a dick in this story. I'm still hoping there will be a reveal about Piss's real name after 50 odd books. This was the usual entertaining story EXCEPT for all of the errors (misspelled words, missing punctuation, & Nat's name is now Nate??? to name a few)
This is another great caper in Maggie's life. This time, her uncle's son is in trouble and everyone in the family expects Maggie to step in and solve their problems. From Loretta in a stupor to Brian behind bars, she is a very busy woman. Add in her mobster employer asking her to steer clear, and Maggie is quickly in over her head. Fortunately, she can rely on her menagerie for assistance. They add creative solutions and even find a new candidate for their menagerie.
As always, this book is filled with humor and heart. If you enjoy the genre, you will love this book. While part of a series, this is a stand alone novel, however, its so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all. The author is on my must read authors' list.
Maggie Lee is once again more or less forced into figuring out what really happened when a family adjacent person is arrested. It was self defense, but no one believed Brian Griswald. So it's up to Maggie now. Along the way she befriends a homeless man and an injured squirrel. Skrunkly (the squirrel) becomes a hero and Maggie's newest member in her animal menagerie. Fast paced danger and so much fun. Warning: You might need to stock up on snickerdoodles or warm brownies or at least a deli sandwich before reading!
Maggie is once again up to her eyeballs in family drama. This time helping clear Griswold’s nephew. With the help of her furry family, she’ll get to the truth. I can’t get enough of this series. Each and every installment brings a smile to my face. Looking forward to what’s going to happen next!
I don’t know how authors creat their inventive stories but I do enjoy reading them! This series most of all! It’s so much fun to step into the chaos, anarchy and joy within these books. This one has so many unexpected twists and turns. But the personalities of humans and animals make it irresistible. Enjoy!
I always get excited when there is a new book in the series. I still love all the animals Piss and DeeDee being my favorite. This book added another animal . I like the relationship building between Maggie and Nate.
Yes, a bit crazy, really…talking to animals? Sure, why not. A family that pulls together when you need them. A love story simmering in the background. And…A GOOD MURDER.
Yessss!!! This one was great, loved the storyline and it definitely felt like less of the rehashing so appreciate where we can get off the repeat kidnapping stories. I also like that our heroine is moving on with her life.
This is my absolute favorite series. I reread it often from the beginning. It's my happy place. This book has a lot of Rowdy in it and I swear she's written like an actual teenager. Cracks me up. J.B. Lynn is a true talent.
A great and fun mystery. Love the animal creatures and their banter! The humor is a delight as it mingles with the emotional issues experienced by the characters. So looking forward to the next adventure!
Yes I have read all of them. Yes I will read the nest one also. Lee and her band of animals continue to amuse and entertain. Light, fun reading with a likable MC as she carries the weight of an army on her shoulders.
