Irish Encounter

Rate this book
After almost three years of living under a fog of grief, Ellen Shepherd is ready for the next chapter in her life. Perhaps she’ll find adventure during a visit to Galway. Her idea of excitement consists of exploring Ireland for yarn to feature in her shop back home, but the adventure awaiting her includes an edgy stranger who disrupts her tea time, challenges her belief system, and stirs up feelings she thought she’d buried with her husband.

After years of ignoring God, nursing anger, and stifling his grief, Payne Anderson isn’t ready for the feelings a chance encounter with an enchanting stranger evokes. Though avoiding women and small talk has been his pattern, something about Ellen makes him want to seek her—and God again.

Can Ellen accept a new life different than the one she planned? Can Payne release his guilt and accept the peace he’s longed for? Can they surrender their past pain and embrace healing together, or will fear and doubt ruin their second chance at happiness?

I enjoyed this read, a rebirth, in a sense, having had the deep grief of loosing loved ones, and now being a bit older, can Payne and Ellen let go of their doubts and embrace this new relationship?
We begin this story in beautiful Ireland, and you see the country side through the eyes of this author. We also travel to shops and farms where the wool yarn is made, and you can almost feel it, and Ellen buys lots for her yarn shop in the States.
Payne is committed to a project in Africa, and these two may just be ships that past in the night. Will schedules and life permit these two a bit of happiness? Well. answers come, and you may be surprised at the ending.
A sweet read you don't want to miss!

I liked this story. The flow was fantastic, the conversations beautiful. I especially like the relationship Ellen had with God; the ease with which she prayed and talked was very admired and worthy of emulation.
The chemistry between Payne and Ellen was just magnificent. I especially loved their first meeting in the cafe, very, very usual meeting.
Awwww I felt sorry for Payne about the experience that made him turn his back on God. But it was beautiful how Ellen's faith and way with God intrigued and influenced him.

I loved his their love story started. I read the book in one sitting. It was that good.

I recieved a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

After reading Irish Encounter, I want to go to Ireland. I want to pick up my knitting needles (even though Ellen prefers crochet). But mostly, I want to be more open to those around me and the possibility that God might drop people into my life in very unexpected ways and for reasons that might not be clear at first. Ellen and Payne are both likable with realistic flaws and lots of baggage. (OK - I might have a bit of a book crush on Payne. I really liked him. Can't blame Ellen for falling for him). From Ireland to North Carolina, from idyllic sheep farms to university offices, Ellen and Payne both have issues that need to be resolved before they can risk giving their hearts fully to each other. Neither of them were looking for a romance, and I loved the way they were both surprised by the way it found them. The obstacles are high and the stakes are higher as I kept turning the pages to see if they would release the past and embrace an unexpected future. Irish Encounter was a great read. Highly recommended!

I have always wanted to go to Ireland. In fact it is on my bucket list. In a small way I think I can check Ireland off my list. The author took me on a glorious tour of Ireland where I saw beautiful farms, quaint little shops and memories of a place that holds beauty and hope.
Ellen is such a wonderful character that I felt I was walking beside her as she went to the shops and discovered beautiful yarn to order for her shop back in the states. The details of yarn and the vast array of colors fascinated me. I have never taken up knitting or crocheting but I admire the work that goes into it. It was a perfect place for Ellen to relax and enjoy herself . I love divine appointments and God sure had one for Ellen waiting for her in Ireland.
Payne is a handsome man with sad eyes that say I’m hurting to those around him. He may pretend that he is fine, but the eyes tell it all. His past is heartbreaking and painful. When he and Ellen meet I could feel that something good would come from their encounter. It was interesting to see how the author included Ellen’s daughter in the story. I laughed when her daughter was a little upset seeing her mother having lunch with a strange man.
One of the best things about this story is how Ellen was able to share her faith with Payne. They both have lost loved ones but one of them was still holding on to anger and guilt. I thought the part where Payne goes to church and really listens to the message was a turning point for him. The story is not only about finding happiness but also letting go of the past. Guilt can destroy someone if they don’t deal with it and Payne has allowed that emotion to dictate his life for too long.
I loved following Ellen and Payne on their journey to getting to know each other. One week could change their lives forever. Will Ellen be able to open her heart again? Can Payne forgive himself and allow God back into his life? To find out these answers you will need to read this well written book. Readers will discover how healing brings hope, forgiveness and unconditional love.
I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this novel, but the premise sounded intriguing, and the intersection of faith and pain is often an interesting one to read. Traveling is not possible at the moment, so the chance to escape to another country via the pages of a book proved to the final draw I could not resist. I’m glad I took a chance on a new-to-me author, as I enjoyed the journey to Ireland.

I liked the pervasive faith element in this story. Ellen is a strong believer, and though not perfect, she does her best to rely on prayer and listen to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Payne’s grief has largely sunk his faith, but as God will often do, a meeting with Ellen he cannot explain has him once more considering the things of God. I had to laugh at the inconvenience of answered prayer early in the novel, both life-like and frustrating at times.

I enjoyed the romance, and while it may not be the most realistic to think of a lasting relationship coming from a chance meeting in a cafe across the world from home, nothing is outside the bounds of possible when God is involved in a story. And isn’t that one of the points of fiction, to show us what’s possible, pulling us out of our everyday experience?

Aside from a couple of typos that slipped through, my only complaint is that this novel allowed too many events to rule the plot at the end rather than allowing the characters to see where they might go together. One obstacle after another was put in their way, and I wanted them to have their happy ending rather than continuing to struggle along.

This was a fun, interesting read, especially for anyone who enjoys stories with main characters who aren’t just starting out in life, or those who may want to travel to Ireland, but with the current restrictions or financial considerations, can’t make it to their dream destination at the moment. I recommend it!

I received a copy of this book through Celebrate LIt but was under no obligation to post positive remarks. The opinions expressed are both honest and my own.

I thought this was a fun book. I really enjoyed meeting the characters. Ellen was full of all kinds of emotions and thoughts and while I couldn’t relate to her grief I felt like I could!

I’ve long wanted to go to Ireland. It’s on my bucket list for as soon as I can save up money for it. But until then I get to read books that bring it to life for me. This book did that. The scenes were very well written out and I could imagine myself there seeing what the characters were seeing.

I loved the sheep! We have sheep here on our farm so I loved reading about the yarn and the farm talking about how they made their yarn. Such fun.

Ellen has a lot of grief and she also has adult children. Payne also has grief but he lost his wife and child. They both need to let go of their pasts and let their hearts heal before they can move on and possibly find love again. But what if love sneaks up on both of them? And what if obstacles get in the way?

This was such a fun book. I didn’t want to put it down. There isn’t any suspense unless it’s wondering if Ellen will wake up from her injury or wondering if Payne will figure out the truth before he writes off their love forever.

I highly recommend you get a copy of this book and cuddle up with some tea and a blanket in the air conditioning. Pretend you’re in Ireland and fall into the story.

This book has a lot of things going for it. For one thing, it’s solid Christian fiction. The story would absolutely die without the faith element. It wouldn’t work. Full points on that score.

I liked the characters–their believability as well as their virtues and flaws. Ellen and Payne are people you’d meet almost anywhere. They just happened to meet in Galway. The instant attraction even works well. It isn’t overdone, but the author acknowledges through the story she weaves that this thing happens. But can it turn into something deeper?

Well, in this story it does.
There were parts that didn’t grab me. For example, most of the section from the time Helen went home until the professors arrived with their proposal could have been cut. That says something to me. Despite that, I doubt readers would be bored by it–just uncertain of its necessity. I’m a strong proponent of “showing” over “telling” but maybe in this case it would have been stronger to just “tell” in dialogue. Actually, I’m pretty sure that happens anyway. So…?

The conflict (and I admit there isn’t tons but I actually think the amount of it is realistic). Still, that conflict is a bit cliched. The guy misunderstands the obvious. The woman assumes something else… cue typical romantic formula.

However, despite that, I really did enjoy most of the story and think it was a nice way to spend an evening (or early morning, actually). Absolutely am not sorry I requested the review copy I was sent, and I’ll be checking out more from this author. Recommended for people who enjoy solid Christian fiction, who are looking for protagonists who are a little older and more mature, and for people who like a glimpse of a nice setting outside the norm as a fine backdrop for their stories.

Yarn and Ireland. What could be better than that? Of course, a handsome stranger..
Ellen agrees to go to Ireland with her daughter. She was looking forward to shopping and seeing some beautiful scenery. What happened to Ellen was unexpected and no way planned. Should she take a risk?

Decisions are made everyday..some are trivial decisions but some are life changing ones. We can be afraid of change. I, for one, was never thrilled with changes. I settled maybe too long in a bad relationship or in a career choice. But changes in our lives are evitable.

Ellen and Payne were both dealing with loss. They wanted to protect their hearts from further pain. But do you allow your past to prevent you from real happiness? This was the dilemma they both had to face.

I enjoyed the story as it has many components that I am interested in. I love to crochet and visit yarn shops often. Ireland is on my to go list to visit. Plus You add a little romance. I am sold on this book!!!

Inspiration Behind Irish Encounter
A few years ago, I was staring at the first day of the rest of my life. My oldest daughter was set to graduate high school in less than a month. Two years later, her sister would march right behind her, followed in two years by their twin brothers.
Life as I’d known it for the preceding eighteen years was about to change enormously.
Throughout my tenure as a stay-with-my-children mom, I’d written for publications—sporadically—but I had a portfolio of articles with my byline in print.
That May afternoon, I decided to write something for Guideposts, a magazine filled with inspirational, faith-filled stories. I’d just completed “The Life of Moses” with Bible Study Fellowship, and I envisioned sharing wisdom and insight gleaned from thirty two weeks of study.
I penned What I learned from Moses on the top line of a yellow legal pad. As soon as I wrote this fascinating title, I immediately began daydreaming—about Ireland, not Moses.
In my daydream, a woman in an Irish café scribbled in a journal. A little old man in a tweed vest approached her, introduced himself, and began talking about his late wife. I saw the wooden buttons on his vest and the Irish cap clutched in his hands. Suddenly another man, dressed in dusty safari clothes, appeared to the woman’s left, lounging at his table and eavesdropping on their conversation.
This scene interested me infinitely more than the Moses idea. I turned the page to a fresh sheet and wrote everything I saw and heard in that Irish coffee shop.
Irish Encounter began that day. I didn’t know it yet, but God did. I just hurried back every morning to my desk to see what happened next. Before writing, I’d recite Bible verses from the Moses study, like Exodus 3:12 “And God said, ‘I will be with you’” and Exodus 4:12 “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.” (NIV)
I’d pray for guidance and help, and then I’d travel to Galway.
God led me onto this writing journey with a lot of prodding and pulling and nudges toward those interesting characters. I’m thankful every day He did, and I hope readers will enjoy the trip to Ireland with Ellen and Payne, too!

I had the hardest time putting this novel down. Having visited Galway myself, I could really feel a part of Ellen's story. Hope Toler Dougherty really captured the beauty of the country, in my opinion. The characters are well developed - even frustrating at times - but you'll need tissues for the super sweet ending. Just a great story.

I needed a light read and like most things Irish, so I thought I would give this a try. It was a nice, clean read with no profanity or loose morals, but it was spoiled for me by the two main characters themselves. Ellen and Payne are supposedly mature adults in their mid forties, but acted like middle school kids. They had no ability to communicate with one another as adults, so were always coming to incorrect assumptions about each other's feelings, motives, etc. They pouted, refused to be the first to try to straighten things out in their budding relationship, and were aggravating to no end. Do people of that age REALLY act that way? No one of my acquaintance does and I ended up having very little sympathy for either of them. In Ellen's case especially there was no excuse because had she been the student of the Scriptures she claimed, she should have come across MANY principles and guidelines on how to improve her relationships and communication with others.....pouting, jealousy, and stubbornness are not encouraged!

A warm, well-written story about a forty-something widow, Irish Encounter made me laugh, sigh, and cry. Despite revolving around a woman who lost her husband three years ago the book is uplifting and encouraging, rather than depressing and morose, as one might expect. Ellen is stronger than she thinks she is, and I enjoyed watching her self-confidence grow as she experiences Ireland for the second time without her husband. The dialogue is realistic and fluid, so much so, that I found myself arguing with her daughter as if she was real! The descriptions immersed me in the setting, so I could imagine the lush landscape of a country I’ve never visited. I loved Payne, and the good that Ellen brought out in him. He too walked a difficult, grief-filled journey, and I felt for him as he struggled to reconcile his guilt with growing feelings for Ellen. Themes of forgiveness and second chances are woven throughout the story without being preachy. Highly recommended.

My Thoughts: This is a charming romance story. It is centered around two people Ellen and Payne who both have been living a life with grief. God intervenes with a plan of his own and the story begins. It is amazing how God can use people to further His will. This is a wonderful story full of love and forgiveness, and second chances. It's about coming back to God and learning that He loves us no matter what. The characters are vulnerable, which makes the story seem so real and true to life. There are twists and turns in the plot which make this a novel that his hard to put down. So take a little journey to Ireland and wrap yourself in a little romance. This is a novel you don't want to miss. I look forward to reading more from Hope Toler Dougherty, she can certainly spin a good story.

Irish Encounter by author Hope Toler Dougherty is a contemporary Christian novel. The author brings the lush green of Ireland to life on the pages with her talented pen. Even though I have never been there, I have a wonderful idea of what it is like now thanks to this sweet book.

This is the story of Ellen Shepherd, a widow of three years. She and her daughter take a trip to Ireland where Ellen simply enjoys the tranquility of the beautiful country. Her quiet is interrupted by Payne Anderson, and sparks begin to fly off of the pages.

Ellen is a wonderful character and I immediately became invested in her story. I wanted to go shopping with her and learn about the different types of yarn. We would have tea in a quaint little place, too. The author provided such vivid descriptions that I felt like I went with them.

Payne is a troubled soul. I could feel his distress through the author’s words. The romance is sweet in this book. It kept me turning pages. I even enjoyed reading about the sheep.

Author Dougherty has a nice style of writing. I enjoyed her way of telling this story. The conversations were smooth and sounded realistic. Characters were well rounded with good characteristics as well as flaws. The problems they faced were normal for many people.

Books that contain a spiritual or faith message are my favorite. This one had those as well as life lessons. It was an encouraging, emotional story that most everyone will enjoy. I recommend this book. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

As I began reading this book, this story quickly caught up in the story. Ellen Shepherd, a widow of 3 years, has left North Carolina to come to Ireland to see her daughter and also to purchase yarn for her shop. While sitting in a coffee shop trying to write, an elderly gentleman approaches her because she reminds him of his deceased wife. The interaction between Seamus and Ellen is touching.

But when Seamus leaves, a new man barges into Ellen’s life and it will never be the same. Initially, he lives up to his name of Payne. He proves to be a pain to Ellen. But she recognizes that sometimes God plants people in our path so we can share His Truth with them.

Payne and Ellen begin a relationship that becomes characterized by misunderstanding, both on her side and his side. This book shows how it is important to ask questions when we do not understand or like what we see.

It also shows how an appointment by God can change a person’s life forever.

Olivia, Ellen’s daughter studying in Ireland, caught my attention. She loves her mom and loved her dad and initially proves to dislike Payne, seemingly because he is not her father. But over time, he can win her approval.

Another part that really caught my attention was when Ellen’s other daughter and her son Scott called Ellen in Ireland and wound up talking to Payne. The love of the family for each other and the amazing group of friends that surrounded them make this a story worth reading. So check it out for yourself.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from CelebrateLit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

I loved the Irish setting. The author was able to pull me into the surroundings, and the trips out to see the sheep and yarn operations were among some of my favorite encounters.

Ellen and Payne had an immediate connection. Just one small problem: Payne isn’t a believer. And he’s leaving for Africa while Ellen is headed back to the states.

There were times when Ellen’s kids got on my nerves a bit. I understand their reticence in seeing their mother have such a powerful attraction to a man three years after their dad’s death, but they were a bit selfish at times, and the rudeness of her daughter acting like she had the right to tell Ellen what to do…well, it ticked me off. I got over it though, as it was merely one of many hurdles that Payne had to overcome before he could find his happily ever after.

And, honestly, you have to love the kids for trying to protect their mother. They were only doing what they thought was necessary.

The instant connection and following drama really kept the story moving.

A sweet, contemporary romance with wonderful setting and characters who will make you laugh, sigh, and maybe even swoon.

When they first meet, Ellen Shepherd tells a stranger that she believes in both prayer and divine appointments and remarks that "Maybe you're one for me today." Little does she know just how true this may turn out to be! Irish Encounter tells the story of two people who have known grief and disappointment but have chosen totally different paths to handle their situations. Ellen has turned to God and relied on Him and prayer to help during the three years since her husband's death and she is now returning to a place they had once visited together. Payne Anderson has chosen to nurse his anger and ignore his grief by turning away from God. It's apparent that they are drawn to each and their chemistry is very strong but is it possible for this attraction to be stronger than their differing beliefs?

Hope Toler Dougherty has chosen the wonderful setting of Galway for this sweet and inspiring romance that focuses on hope, forgiveness, and second chances. Reading this book made me feel like I was sharing Ellen's vacation with her. I was seeing the Irish countryside, visiting the yarn shops, and eating at some of the small pubs, but all vacations must end and many questions and doubts follow Ellen as she returns to the United States. Was her chance meeting with Payne truly 'God ordained'? Can her strong Christian witness be a positive influence in Payne's return to faith? Is it possible for Ellen and Payne to find a second chance at happiness, together?

Dougherty has written a lovely story and I am looking forward to reading more of her books. I recommend Irish Encounter to all readers who enjoy contemporary Christian romance.

Irish Encounter was a wonderful novel! I loved that their romance began while they were both away from home, in a lovely, romantic place, where they could make wonderful memories. Another thing that I really liked about it was that the romance did not come easily. There were always hurdles to jump, problems to solve, and misunderstandings to resolve. Another thing I liked was the depth of love that Ellen and Payne had for each other, even though they didn't declare it to one another for quite awhile.

Then there were the characters. Both Ellen and Payne were authentic. I liked that there was always more and more to learn about each of them as the story moved forward. Not only was Ellen a businesswoman, but she was a farmer, a mom, a PTA influencer, a foreign exchange host mom, and so many other things. Her interests and involvements were numerous. There was always something new to learn about Payne, as well.

I also appreciated that spirituality is what brought them together and kept them together.

This is a great book that readers of contemporary romance will enjoy. Those with a special fondness for Ireland or sheep will especially want to pick up this book.

I received an ARC of this book from the author, through Celebrate Lit, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

Irish Encounter was a beautiful old-fashioned love story that had me wanting to pack my bags and go see the "green" of Ireland. This is a story that I have long wanted to read and I am pleased that I finally got the chance.

We have a story of two people who have seen grief in their lives, and though neither lets that grief define them, they are certainly still heart sore. Ellen is 44 years old and has been a widow for three. She certainly never thought she would fall in love again. I think she was settled on working on her business and watching her kids move on with families of their own. She was by far not an 'old' woman, but she already married the love of her life. What more was there?

Payne is a wanderer. He has his work and his bachelorhood, but after going out of his way to speak to a stranger, Ellen, his whole world begins to change. I really enjoyed seeing his growth in his life and especially in spiritual matters.

I stayed up way too late finishing this story. It was that good. I enjoyed the more mature love story, their banter, and the somewhat cat and mouse game that was going on.

I received a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I really enjoy Christian Romance books and this book, Irish Encounters by Hope Toler Dougherty, really fits that genre.

Ellen Shepard is a widow and has been grieving for 3yrs. She decides she needs a change of scenery and decides to go to Ireland and shop for Yarn. She wasn't ready for the chance encounter with Payne Anderson, as she is sipping tea and enjoying the afternoon. Payne and Ellen strike up a conversation, although Payne is really rough talking to Ellen. His "rough talk" brings up feelings in Ellen that she isn't sure she was ready to unravel. Both Payne has withdrawn from God over the years, but it seems their chance encounter and what turns into a possible relationship, has them both seeking God. Payne starts to turn to God after Ellen stands firm in her beliefs. Will their encounter turn into something more? Will there be healing of past issues for both? This is a definite must read and you will see the outcome!!

Irish Encounter is a book about Second Chances, healing and forgiveness. I really enjoy the Irish setting and the calmness of the book!

I really enjoyed this book fully, it is a total page turner, from beginning to end!! ENJOYABLE BOOK!

Irish Encounter is a story about two people who have been married before and have both lost their spouses. Ellen and Payne meet in Ireland at a cafe over a conversation about prayer. Ellen instructs Payne in the importance of returning to a relationship with God.

There is minimal tension and mild plot twists in this story. It is a simple, easy read. The heroine runs a yarn shop in North Carolina. Shopping and purchasing yarn is one of the reasons she makes the trip to Ireland. The book includes scenes of the countryside as Ellen and her daughter go to farms to look at yarn. All ages of readers would enjoy this book. Reading it is a good way to virtually travel to another part of the world right now as so many of us are staying home and not planning trips.

Be strong. Do not be terrified. The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Ellen Shepherd is visiting Galway, Ireland - a place she enjoyed a number of years earlier with her husband who has passed away. With all the memories a visit like that brings with it, strength was something she needed. What started out as a trip down memory lane became a most enjoyable visit that brought new life to her and those around her.

As a knitter and occasional crocheter, I loved all the detail surrounding the farms and yarn shops. For me, I expect that would be at the top of my list, should I ever have the chance to visit Ireland! The author’s attention to detail, especially when it came to describing all the gorgeous scenery and the multiple hues of green just added to the wish to someday travel to that country.

Irish Encounter by Hope Toler Dougherty is a stand-alone contemporary older-couple romance. Trying to get over the grief of losing her husband, Ellen Shepherd travels to Galway, Ireland to help her daughter settle in for a year of study abroad. There she meets Payne Anderson, a fellow American, on vacation to attend a wedding. She helps him see his need for God and he helps her get over her grief. After a whirl-wind friendship they go their separate ways hoping to meet up again in the States. I’m usually not one for reading about older middle age couples and romance; but because this was set in Ireland and especially Galway, I took a chance. It was a great little story. I loved Payne’s sense of humor! Ellen was such a sweet person to get to know. All of the interaction was believable and down to earth. Just like real life! I truly enjoyed this book and being able to “re-visit” Galway.

I read another book by Hope and loved it so I was eager to read this one.

Obviously, the setting was beautiful and I loved Payne’s indifference that you could tell really wasn’t indifferent.

Hope did a good job of depicting Olivia’s (Ellen’s daughter) reaction to her mother spending time with another man and the ups and downs of that.

I did feel like that first kiss happened awfully fast, although, I think that was the point, it took everyone by surprise, but I wasn’t really feeling it yet. However, the following kisses really did help develop the budding relationship.

I appreciated Ellen’s faith and her complete reliance on God and that was shown throughout the book.

Overall, a nice read and I enjoyed the story.

I have read and enjoyed Hope Toler Dougherty‘s books in the past. So, I was excited to have the opportunity to read her Irish Encounter. I was far from being disappointed. It is my favorite that I have read by her to date. I adored Ellen and Payne’s story. I thought the two could be easily be relatable. They both were dealing with some real life issues that so many go through. I love the element of faith and inspiration within the pages. It was, also, wonderful taking a journey to beautiful Galway.
I am giving Irish Encounter a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy a sweet and clean romance. I thought it was a great read and will love to read more by Hope Toler Dougherty in the future.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

"An Irish Encounter" is a sweet Christian romance between a widow, Ellen, and an ex-Christian, as Payne calls himself.

If you like travel, yarn, pottery, art, cafes, and clean Christian romance, then this will suit you to a fine tea ;-). The character, Ellen, is in her early forties, but to me, she came across as a dedicated Christian in her fifties. While in an Ireland cafe, she prayed for a divine encounter to share God's love. Ellen didn't expect to meet the obnoxious Payne.

As they keep crossing paths, Ellen can't deny the attraction to Payne, but there's more than this to the their connection. Ellen learns that Payne is a widower and it's one of his reasons for wavering in his faith. Ellen is a key to helping him overcome the past.

This was a fun, sweet book. It wasn't what I expected but I still enjoyed it. The descriptions of Ireland made me want to go today and explore. I loved how close Ellen was in her walk with God. That spoke to me and pulled at my heart.
The encounter with her meeting Payne was totally a God thing and I loved it. The ease and flow of the story was nice. I usually read romantic suspense and it was nice to just slow it down and read a nice book. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was a 4/5 for me.
