A beautiful story about a miraculous woman.

I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review. This was written absolutely phenomenal made you feel like you were living in their time!! If you love historical fiction you will love this book! The courage and strength it took to stand between two countries was spot on!! I absolutely loved this story and I highly recommend.

This book gives you not only a look into what it is like to be bound by duty, but also into the sacrifices that are made to go with it. This book follows Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland and Dowager Queen of France 👑 it is mixed with the right amount of political intrigue and all the feels. If you are a historical romance/historical contemporary lover this is for you!

I really liked this book.
It is written as an easy flow style read. It is reminiscent of and as if it is Mary Queen of Scots autobiography in her voice. This made this story's reiteration more personable. I have always been pulled towards her story for some reason, and this story's rendition really honed into the why for me when reflecting upon it as a whole. It really speaks to what woman often endure, not just a Queen. The constant struggle, the tragedies, the atrocities, the abuse/degradation/dismissals, the personal strife, encumbering circumstances that lead to desperation and limited options, the power/control dynamics, the subjectification to ruin just by other's words or rumors, the double standards. As well as the vulnerability, the costly effects from following your heart or having good intentions and being taken advantage of. I think in this story a resonance could be found for most woman. I deeply appreciated the way it was expressed personably which caused a level of reverence, not just to Mary Queen of Scots but to all woman who are Queens in their own right. The strength, resiliency, and the profound nature of what it means to be a woman in a male dominant world. By the time it got to the epilogue that part completely pulled at my heart strings and wrecked me.
The book captured beautifully the adversity and devastation. I believe it was phenomenally written to account for Queen Mary's story in a more authentic type of way. I am glad that this work of art was brought to my attention and after the sneak peek given to the prior book, I will most likely be reading that one too! I am looking forward to the rest of this series [of standalones].

This book follows the story of Mary Queen of Scots as she handles being the queen of Scotland by birthright and Queen of France until the death of her Husband. All while battling being a female Catholic queen amongst a Protestant country. Mary faces many heartbreaks and many ups and downs throughout her life. Her cousin Queen Elizabeth the 1st doesn't trust or like Mary due to fear she will take her crown.
This is a historical fiction retelling. The way it follows the timeline of Mary's life while also keeping you wanting to know more of what's going to happen is what I love in a book. I know how Mary's story ultimately ends because she is one of my favorite Queens but this book had me forgetting how it ended. I was hooked and wondering what was going to happen next.

I liked this book very much! As woman with history education I'm so obsessed with every book that contains true history facts in it! The story is good, have true in some storyline facts and definitely is written with attention to details!

This really dives into the sacrifices that had to be made by Mary the queen of Scots. She was such a strong woman. Beautiful book. Great history.

3.5⭐️ I really enjoyed this book 📕 . This is a story about resilience, courage, and the quiet strength required to lead when your heart is being pulled in opposite directions. I loved how this story balanced the political intrigue with the emotional journey. Every choice felt heavy, every sacrifice mattered, and I couldn’t help but admire the strength it took to stand between two countries while never truly belonging to just one. I found myself rooting for her even during the moments that broke my heart ❤️ . Will definitely recommend.
