Crooked Lies

Rate this book
Sarai was willing to throw it all away for what she thought was love. Even she didn't know why. All she knew was that her feelings were in deep. However, there was a price to pay. Her friendship with Brooklyn, her relationship with Pandora's Box...both gone.

At the root of it all was Erik Warren.

Readers will remember Erik Warren from Installment I of the Pandora's Box series. He was a cheater then, and he's a cheater now. However, Sarai doesn't know that, and throws all of what she previously knew about him on the back burner.

But she will soon learn.

There are more surprises for Sarai's life as the story unfolds. A past she had long left, comes to surface, and leaves her in an emotional tailspin.

With everything piling on, Sarai is forced to re-examine herself, and her past actions so that she can confront...and possibly undue what has been done.

I had up my previous bio for years! It was nice and all, and gave details of my life. But it was so structured! And I’m kinda not. Because of that, I’ve decided to change it to something that really gives you a glimpse into who I am. Is that cool? K, good. So, here goes:

I’m a Bay Area girl. Cali is in my blood! I moved to Vegas in 2017 (No, I wasn’t following the Raiders!) to see how another way of life would be, after my only kid . . . the love of my life . . . decided he was joining the Marines. Can you believe that?! Sigh. Wait, deep sigh! I know some parents await the day for their kids to leave, not this Mama. That was my ace, my bestie in male form. I had to hit the reset button. But here I am. He’s thriving. I’m ‘trying’ to thrive. Lol! No, but really. This relocation was good because I’ve never lived away from home. So, I needed to grow, cultivate a little. It’s working for now.

I consider myself a novelist. And that’s because a novelist doesn’t just write in one genre. For the most part, I write #InterracialRomance, with a primary focus on #BWWM, as my leads. However, I have written a few novels that fell comfortably in the #AfricanAmericanFiction realm, showcasing some #BlackLove. In short, I love building stories. I like to say that I “spin #Sexy and #Suspense into a single web.” The two dynamics have to co-exist in my stories, or I’m bored. And you know if the author is bored with their own work, there’s a problem! Trust me, I’ve done plenty of rewrites when that’s happened.

On my literary journey, I just hope to always write the stories that women find relatable. Characters who are strong, but vulnerable when they need to be. Family-focused, and intelligent. Basically, mirror images of myself. Ironically, writing these characters, have helped me discover things about myself along the way. I think that’s why I write as often as I do. It’s almost like peeling back layers of me as I go. And to stop that process, kind of hits the pause button on me . . . my life . . . my existence. I have to be a moving machine at all times. Does that get stressful? Absolutely. But is it rewarding and are there many teachable moments? Absolutely!

Ever need me, reach out. Ever got questions, I’m never too busy to respond.

Peace & Blessings!

They keep getting better and better

Another good episode. This one focused more on Sarai, and I learned more about her. I still don't feel sorry for her though. Karma came and reared its ugly head. Nothing good could have ever came from her and Erik being together. Eric's pain, kind of pleased me. Here he was missing something he had, until he messed it up royally. Now he can't seem to get Laura off the brain, and she has already moved on to a better life. Guess it's true, you don't miss what you got til it's gone. I can't wait to the next one, cause I want to know so much more about Brooklyn.I was giddy at the ending, cause I was hoping Joaquin came back in the story, and do exactly what he did. I think this next episode is going to be everything!!

Crooked Lies: (Pandora's Box Series) Installment IV

A very good storyline that combined several characters from the previous novels:

First, I was happy to read that Ms. Brooklyn Kellogg did her thang in Reno, Nevada. Ummm-huh, the land of sin. Upon her return to the Bay Area in Cali, the owner of Pandora's Box is now interested in a fine upstanding man (Elena K.'s ex)!

Second, Laura & Robert (Erik's boss) are still going strong. Congrats, she has upgraded and marriage is on the horizon.

Third, Brooklyn's go-to-guy Oscar has found love with his lady companion, Ms. Sherry (Sienna's mom).

And last, Erik Warren & Sarai Channing/Preston/Kendrick's sister or WTF got that TKO karma. Too funny cause I didn't expect that. It's definitely 4****...POW!

Erik is a character all by himself. I was so happy to see him miserable and realizing that he lost the best thing he ever had. I found myself wanting to bash Sarai up the head sometimes and I was so happy when she and Brooklyn had their conversation. Brooklyn said all the things I wanted to say! I enjoyed this latest installment in the Pandora's Box Series. I loved seeing how each character's life has changed from installment to installment. I'm glad Laura has found happiness and moved on and the little surprises the author introduced throughout the story have me wanting to know what is going to happen next.
