I really loved this one. This one was a bit heavier than the first two and I felt like it was spicier. It was heavier because it really touched on social injustice and what it’s like for People of color but especially Black Men. The love story was beautiful because it required both parties to really look at the experience of the other. I highly Recommend it.

I found this book very romantic and vulnerable.
Patrice and Easton have been in a physical relationship with no string for over a year. They are two very different people with Patrice being professor and activist while Easton is th assistant district attorney. Their small town is having a real issue with local police abusing their authority and continually targeting black people.
I really appreciated how the race conversations were treated with such care. A lot of the main drivers for Patrice and Easton to progress in their emotional connection is understanding each other’s perspectives on both social justice and privilege. Easton has given up a lot of the comforts that come with being from a healthy family in favor of public service. Patrice and Easton have real issues keeping their relationship from solidifying and continually exploring that wound.
A main point of contention in their relationship is that Easton continues to plays it safe and doesn’t take a real stand for the sake of protecting his precarious position and wanting to be impartial for the sake of what he can accomplish overall with good standing with everyone. On another note, although the topics are very important at a certain point they were not really making much progress to the point that the plot stalled and started to feel a little bit repetitive.
About the audiobook: The narrators really elevated the story for me here. Particularly because this book has so many moments of heavy conversations, the duet narration was a treat!
Overall, it was a fun story with a lot of depth. Def recommend, but check out trigger warnings.

i'm thoroughly enjoying this series!! adriana has a way of writing about these VERY REAL racial issues in america in ways that are extremely eye opening for those with privilege & its sooooo needed!! & these two fighting for their relationship is precious!!

This is the third book in the Dreamers series, and it follows Patrice and Easton as they navigate their rekindled/reunited romance.
The two have always had a physical attraction to each other, and they’re indulged often. But this was sweet watching them reunite and explore their actual feelings and emotions with one another. It was also interesting seeing them work on sharing a life together despite how opposite they are. Patrice is a Haitian-born professor, activist, and former refugee who grew up with very little and Easton is an assistant district attorney from a highly privileged, wealthy background. The contrast between their lives is stark, but it was incredibly sweet seeing them make a relationship work. Though they did have their ups and their downs.
Ultimately though, they reached their HEA and I felt like I had just listened to a story about two friends of mine that beat the odds.
The audio was also really fantastic. I loved Brent and Tristan as these characters!! They performed in duet with another little fun feature with Ramona Master for the femme roles, and I really enjoyed their performances. Tristan’s gravely voice suited the guarded and protective Patrice, and Brent was such a good pick for Easton and his sweetheart personality. This series has been incredible on audio and I’m so sad that I’m now onto the last one!! 🥹

AHHHH MY FAV OF THE SERIES SO FAR
patrice & easton were everything and more to me. the further i get into this series the harder i fall for this found family. i am such a sucker for a hard fought romance and this one was intense and absolutely incredible.
i have mentioned this in my two previous reviews for this series but i feel like these topics are a lot more at the forefront in this particular book so i’m gonna mention it again. there is a lot of racism, racial injustice and homophobia through out this book and once again adriana did not shy away from showing the harsh realities BIPOC men, women and children all face every single day. the way adriana weaves these real world issues into her work with such care but brutal honesty is just breathtaking every single time.
second chance romances are my absolute fav which is just one of the many reasons why i loved this one but my favorite thing about patrice & eastons story was how hard they worked on themselves to be better for each other. it goes hand in hand with loving a hard fought romance, i just love the emotional maturity that adriana brings to her main characters — they arent perfect but they try as hard as they can for those that love them and i think that is a huge part of what made these two feel so special to me.
i was lucky enough to listen to the audiobook for this and i just cannot get over how phenomenal the production of this series is. brent billings and tristan james were absolutely AMAZING at bringing patrice and easton to life, i hung off of their every word and bc i listen on 2.5x i was distraught at how fast i finished their story (i’m already really looking forward to revisiting all of these books!!!) ALSO something that levitated this experience to a whole new level for me ramona master playing female characters all through out these books was just the cherry on top of the already perfect audiobook cake. i wholeheartedly mean it when i say the production of this series is one of my absolute favorites ive ever listened to. they took an already amazing story and absolutely crushed it bringing it to life!!

This book touch on a heavy topic that unfortunately is the reality of Black men.
I honestly don’t even know how to review this one, yes this is a romance but this was so much MORE. My empathetic heart honestly couldn’t take it, I felt the fear and the anger from the social injustice. How would you feel not even being abole to trust the police? Their duty is to serve and protect and that is the last thing on their mind.
The fact that Easton was a political figure shows how with just a phone call it all changes but what about the people who don’t have that kind of power? How can you want to save face when things are unfair and no one is doing anything? Patrice is an activist against injustices with a huge social media presence. He makes it very clear what he is about and he’s not afraid of making it known Their relationship was different, two sides to two very different people and yet they were the same.
If you decide to read this series and only read one book, make it this one.

This is the third book in the dreamers series by Adriana Herrera. Patrice and Easton’s relationship went through highs and lows in this story. Both trying to navigate how to deal with hard topics and situations while also giving themselves a chance at love Both learning from each other. One constant in the first three books is how much the friends are there for each other. I have loved this the most because the support is what helps us get through some difficult times. Unlike the two books before, I had to take breaks when listening to this book to process the feelings. I loved the story and loved the characters!

I think this is my favorite one
I absolutely loved this story. Patrice’s struggles hit me right in the chest. Not being able to accept love or even allow himself to love was gut wrenching. Also pissed at how he treated Easton but understanding he really needed help. The immigrant struggle in story hit too close to home and my heart broke. Loved every second of this book.
