I expected a lot more from this book. For a book meant for children, there's not many illustrations, and most of the time, it reads factual rather than immersive.I can't see any child reading this book, unless they're on adderal or something The timeline is also annoyingly staggered, and it's quite bland at some points.
Had been reading this on and off for months and was so glad that I did. Even though my parents are from India and I am of South Asian descent I never felt like I had a good handle on India’s history going back to ancient times and this book was a really amazing place to start.
It’s meant for “children” according to the subtitle, but it really is quite wordy and mature for a children, if you ask me. I found it a good place to start as an adult, I can’t imagine a child understanding a lot of the concepts mentioned. So I would recommend it teens and older as a starting point, but not for children at all.
A simple account of Indian history in a clear, lucid language. Apt for young children to know the past that has shaped today's country. Very easy for people who are reading about the country for the first time to understand the phases of reign that passed over. Absolutely loved it!
The book gives a comprehensive understanding of Indian history written based on facts and a must-read book for children to understand history in India.
It's like reading a story book, once you start reading you don't want to stop. Children wil definitely love this short, concise n written in layman language.
For those who want to have a glimpse of India's history up to the partition in 1947, this book may be of great help. However, this book lacks highly in insightful observations or personal viewpoints which are to be expected from a fine-tuned history book. Actually it is as much drab as history can get.
