Despite this being essentially a mystery novel, it somehow managed to make me feel... quite cozy! I think it all goes back to the family dynamics, old friends meeting again, the small-town vibe, the coffee, the food, and the calm streets of Los Cascalotes, where everything is ten minutes away.
This is a story about a world where questions don't always have straightforward answers, and one woman who fights through self-doubt and emerges from the other side with a greater understanding and wisdom. The characters are relatable, the relationships are mature, the plot is well-thought-out, and the story itself is meaningful. Definitely worth reading and enjoying every page.
Apart from some clunkiness in the prose, and unconventional dialogue format which made it difficult at times to know who's saying what (which could be artefacts of translation), this is a great novel with the right mixture of action and world-building.
