With his dying breath, Stoddard Gusarov names his killer: Danielle Boatman.
Danielle had a score to settle with Stoddard Gusarov, but murder him? Never.
Proving to the police she is innocent is the least of her problems. She has an angry spirit to contend with, the ghost of Stoddard Gusarov—and he’s out for revenge.
Reading these books has made me feel like a resident of Marlowe House. One of the things that I enjoy the most is the flow of gossip in the village. It provides information AND really brings the characters to life. no pun intended. It mystifies me how an author can invent such a complex scheme and make it happen with a host of characters. I'm officially addicted to this series
I love this series! The authors writing is so well planned out and it is so hard to put down. I highly recommend this series and the best part is that there is so many books, so you don’t have to worry about waiting for the next one to come out. I can’t wait to start the next one in the series.
Another great book in this series. It has a bit of everything. Mystery, thriller, murder, ghosts and humor. A satisfying ending and a lead into the next book. I definitely will continue on with this series.
I have enjoyed all so far. Look forward to next one! Just sucks you right in to find out who done it and what is going to happen next. I recommend these to all who likes a good mystery.
I like the ghost and many of the side characters but Danielle is very inconsistent. Sometimes she seems like an interesting character and others she falls in the TSTL category. I won't continue this series.
Bobbi Holmes has become another of my favorite authors! If you like mystery, murder, and spooks, you will love these books! I know I do! On to number 5
I am totally enjoying this fun series! Poor Danielle deserves a break though. Lol. I really like how each book really follows the story from the one before.
This was quick and fast paced story that builds of the last one. While Lily is recuperating at home, the fallout from her time held at the Gusarov home continues. Stoddard Gusarov is murdered before he can face legal justice and with his dying breath names Danielle as his murderer. A dying declaration Witnessed by his wife and Officer Brian, Danielle is arrested as soon as she arrives home from an outing to purchase a piano from a home owner who never showed. Unfortunately for the real killers, someone saw Danielle during the crucial time, providing her with a solid alibi.
With a vengeful ghost haunting her, murder attempts, suspicious cops breathing down her neck, conspiracies abound, dueling wills, mysterious trusts, Danielle tries to sort through the clues before she becomes the next victim.
Stoddard Gusarov was a horrible, mean man with no scruples, but Danielle Boatman has no reason to kill him, so why did he declare that she did so - with his dying breath????? It's gonna take a lot of untangling to get to the bottom of this mystery! Dani is convinced someone is trying to frame her, but who? and why? It takes all of her skills as a sleuth, and a little help from some friends to get to the bottom of this dastardly deed!
4.5 Stars... Once again Danielle finds herself dead center in a murder mystery... Someone is framing her for murder, an angry ghost wants revenge, and a hit man has been sent to end her very existence; life is certainly complicated for Danielle Boatman... The plot thickens and twists and turns as the players all take center stage and motives are revealed; a real "who done it" evolves and keeps the reader guessing until the very end... Another entertaining and engaging story in this captivating series that keeps me wanting more.:)
Loved it!!! Continuing story of Isabelle and her family (from The Ghost Who Wasn't). Danielle and her friends (and not so much friends) get involved with another murder. Strong characters, humor and twists throughout the book.
The Ghost Who Wanted Revenge is the fourth book in author Bobbi Holmes’ Haunting Danielle series. At this point, I’m comfortable saying you do have to read earlier books in the series to follow along with the story here. There are too many plot points that are built on events in earlier books. Even with a bit of a recap that Holmes gives the reader, I don’t think the story can be appreciated unless you’ve read the books that precede this one.
The series follows Danielle Boatman and her adventures as the owner of Marlow House. It was left to her by her aunt. Danielle had designs on running the large home as a Bed & Breakfast. However, she soon discovered that there was another resident of the house she couldn’t get rid of: the ghost of the late owner, Walt Marlow. Danielle has the ability to see and communicate with spirits. It’s something she’s had since she was a child, when her family all thought she was crazy.
In the previous book, The Ghost Who Wasn’t, Danielle helped to rescue her best friend, Lily, from having been kidnapped by Stoddard Gusarov and passed off as his niece. At the end of the story, Gusarov was arrested for his crimes. The Ghost Who Wanted Revenge has him back home, awaiting his trial date. Before that can happen, though, he is attacked in his home. He is still alive when the police arrive, and he names Danielle as his killer.
Once he’s dead, he spends his time outside of Marlow House menacing Danielle. More than anything, he wants revenge for her murdering him. The only problem is that Danielle didn’t do it. Stoddard won’t listen to her, though, so sure is he of what he saw with his own eyes. The local police know Danielle didn’t do it, but that doesn’t stop some people from having suspicions. Danielle must find out who really killed Stoddard and convince him that it wasn’t her before he learns to harness his powers and can seriously hurt her and others.
The Ghost Who Wanted Revenge by Bobbi Holmes Rating: 5 stars Trigger Warning: murder There’s been another murder and once again Danielle is thrust back into the spotlight. Stoddard Gusarov has named Danielle as the one who shot him before he died in his wife’s arms and in the presence of a police officer. Someone is trying to frame Danielle for the murder, but why? And before the murderers are even captured another murder happens in town and the victim . . . Stoddard’s wife. Meanwhile, Stoddard’s ghost is set on haunting Danielle and out for revenge over his murder. This book is hands down the best one in the series so far. This is the first book in the series where I didn’t figure out who the murderer was until the end. This one kept me guessing, and that is the best feature of this book. Also the police chief, MacDonald, is starting to become a more major character at this point and he knows Dani can see ghosts and believes her! Honestly, if Dani and Walt can’t be a couple Dani and MacDonald would be a couple I would root for. Also, Joe has slightly redeemed himself in this book for being Dani’s alibi (even if he was a creeper about it). He didn’t redeem himself enough for me to like him though. I really don’t have issues with this book. I mean the narrator for the audiobook is still annoying with the female characters’ voices, but it’s a safe bet to say it’s probably the same narrator for all the books (or at least most). My biggest issue with the books being predictable kinda went away with this one since I didn’t figure out who the murderers were until the end. They’re still kinda predictable with Danielle being at the center of everything but what else can you expect when she’s the main character and they’re murder mysteries. Besides, the police department would never solve any murders without her. If you are debating about reading this series, this book alone should make you start. It was fantastic. Murder mystery lovers, this is right up your alley.
This series is really fun and cozy! I’ll continue to listen along on Audible. Walt is my favorite character; his charm and wit always make me smile and I love the old-timey, 1920s vibe he brings to the storyline. I think the author does a great job of blending the paranormal elements into the cozy mystery genre; it feels natural and believable. All the characters, whether living or of the ghost variety, are fully developed and engaging. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series!
This was very well thought out and written. It kept me guessing the entire time and had me suspicious of everyone. I really enjoyed the development and the braided stories of families. It definitely makes me want to continue the series.
I’m amazed at this author’s ability to keep track of little storylines and keep characters true to themselves. I haven’t found one single contradicting note or thought. I have to take a little break from the series to do some reading for book club but then I’ll be back for the next one!
Omg.. What... The start of the book reveals something that had me so freaking excited. As the title suggests we have a revenge plot going on, but when I found out who the Ghost is who wants revenge, I was so freaked out and shocked but also felt excitement because this was going to be a dayumm crazy ride.
Romy, our narrator is the freaking perfect voice for this entire series. The way she enacts different roles, is so much fun.
This book builds on the events of the previous books, as the characters are first introduced there, but you might still enjoy the story on its own, although if you want to relate and feel the real drama and excitement, then definitely read the previous book before starting this one.
Seeing danielle finding herself again and again on the radar of the cops and being in the wrong place at the wrong time, comes to bite her back in the... As she's directly accused with ironclad proof that she's the one who's committed the crime.
I didn't know what to think after reading the first chapter, where it's really danielle but then you know something utmost fishy is going on.
The Ghost this time that haunts danielle is out for revenge as something happens that makes him believe that danielle is the one responsible for what happened.
And this is not the harmless ones danielle has been dealing with, this ghost is angry and wants danielle to be punished.
Thank goodness though the vengeful ghost can't enter the marlow house or else danielle would have much more to worry about.
This time though it seems impossible to redeem herself when there is such clear evidence of her involvement and to make matters worse, everyone knows that she's the one who has had a clear motive to commit the crime.
There are so many confusing clues too, so how would danielle be able to reach to the bottom of it.
It was an absolutely thrilling ride, once again joining danielle on her quest to solve the mystery with the help of new ghosts and new folks.
The mystery is very twisted and tangled there are many suspects, one clear motive but only one who's directly involved and named.
I missed more of Walt and danielle time as their banter is so much fun, although Walt does get to do action in this one. Lily and Ian and sweet Sadie (Ian's dog) are the best supporters as ever for Danielle.
I'm devouring these books as they are just Unputdownable. This mystery once again grabs hold of you hard and doesn't let go till that last page. Can't wait to dive into the next one, especially after that tease about the Halloween ghost. Loved loved this one. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
So far, every book has been better than the previous, which is unusual. Most of us look forward to a sequel, but don't expect it to be better than the first. This series seems to be the exception for me.
In the previous year, Danielle Boatman has lost her husband, but found he was cheating on her. The pain of this betrayal has her selling the company they started and looking for a new start. It doesn't help that she can see ghosts who haven't moved on. However, she finds her new start in an unexpected inheritance from a Great Aunt by marriage, The Marlowe House. But Marlowe house comes with secrets and the town, a wide variety of characters. The main character is Walt Marlow, a Ghost, excuse me, a spirit (Walt does not like the term ghost) who died in his own attic at the age of 25. He has decided he doesn't want to "move on" to the next part of his journey. There's a touch of romance in the air, but where can a Spirit and a live woman's relationship go?
Danielle has her best friend back, but someone is out to kill Gusarov, the man who kidnapped Lily. When the killer succeeds, Gusarov lives long enough to name Danielle as his killer. The police are looking closely as Lily sues Gusarov's estate for being kidnapped and held against her will, and not getting her the treatment she needed, and for tattooing her in an attempt to use her as a replacement for the heiress. Can Danielle prove her innocence and solve the murder?
