"Linsey Hall's brilliantly imaginative Mythean Arcana is THE must-read series of the year for fans of paranormal romance." - Maggie Shayne, NY Times Bestselling Author of TWILIGHT GUARDIANS

A god in disguise
No one in the Prison for Magical Deviants knows that prisoner Logan Laufeyson has secret identity. He is the ancient trickster god Loki, in magical disguise on a mission of his own. A mission that will come to a sudden and disastrous end…

The woman he's never forgotten
Demi-goddess Sylvi has spent eight hundred years trying to forget her long-ago affair with Loki, which destroyed her dreams and got her banished from her home. When Loki escapes from prison and stumbles through her door with a problem that threatens both their lives, she must set aside her anger while trying to resist a passion she’s never forgotten. The fact that her magic can be enhanced by sex makes ignoring Loki even harder—especially when they must utilize her rare talent.

A threat of ultimate evil
Thrown together, Loki and Sylvi must foil a masterful plot that threatens not only their lives, but every god in existence. It will take all of their power, and all of their long-buried love, to face the ultimate danger - or vanish and be forgotten forever…

Before becoming a writer, Linsey was an archaeologist who studied shipwrecks in all kinds of water, from the tropics to muddy rivers (and she has a distinct preference for one over the other). After a decade of tromping around in search of old bits of stuff, she settled down to start penning her own adventure novels and is freaking delighted that people seem to like them. Since life is better with a little (or a lot of) magic, she writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.

This book was difficult to rate because since the days of my reading about Anita Blake (the first Vampire Hunter I ever read about) whose books descended into one orgy after another I have detested anything that looked like "I gain power through sex". There is a big piece of that in this book although it was woven into an integral part of the story I still wish Lindsey Hall had found a better way to tell this excellent story.

While this series may be the first one I ever read where Loki is one of the "good guys" he and Sylvi made an excellent couple although she kinda hated him for much of the book based on some events that happened long ago.

While this is pretty much a wonderful, multi-faceted plot and story, the use of pages of overly detailed sex that added very little to the actual story was a turn-off for me (your opinion may vary). Make no mistake, I have no problem with sex in my novels but the instances while few in number were overly long for this story in my opinion and the last one was almost ridiculous but we were so far down that road it was a minor complaint.

This was a pretty much "end of the world" level plot and I loved it, a bit more detail on the secondary characters from previous books might have been nice but again not a show stopper by any means.

The story DID impart enough emotion into the relationship that you did know they loved each other which I felt overshadowed some of the needlessly detailed pages of sex but a great story and plot can overcome anything.

Bottom Line: As in all of the books in this series, excellent writing, outstanding stories and some sex scenes that could have been left out or shortened but when I reach the end of this book it is pretty much like all the others in that it is a great story, interesting characters and high quality, I can't wait for the next one. Highly recommended, expect a bit of erotica with an outstanding story/plot. 4 Stars and could have been 5 with a few tweaks.

I love a good book that plays with mythology. Fate Undone takes Norse mythology and twists it to create something amazing. It is hard to not love both Loki (Logan) and Sylvie. The story flips between present day and their past to explain the driving forces of their present day actions. The story line moved and grew with each chapter and the characters developed and formed before the reader's eyes. An easily given 5 stars is what I rate this novel.

Who doesn't love the trickster God Loki? This story carves him out well, giving his personality depth. He is clever, fierce, protective, strategic, and cunning. His past with Sylvie ended on a bad note at his hands and Sylvie has never forgiven him. Sylvie is a Demi-Goddess, a Vala. She has hardened over the centuries and held fast to her intellect, her skills, and her pain. Loki and her are evenly matched, two kindred spirits, that appear to have been designed for one another by the Fates.

The story has elements of romance, suspense, and adventure. If this is the first book you read in the series, you won't be lost. The story itself is powerful enough and thought out enough that you don't need to read the others which makes it a great read as a standalone. It does help to be comfortable in Norse mythology but there is a nice definition page before reading the book to offer explanations for certain terminology. Overall, I loved the story and loved Loki. I'm a sucker for a redeemable guy, what can I say?

I wanted to like this more than I did. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It seems to be a pattern with this series, the blurbs sound so good, the concepts are great, but the execution just doesn't quite meet standards. Books 1, 3 & 5, (Boudica & Caden, Andrasta & Camulos, and Sylvi & Logan) I had such high hopes for especially but none quite lived up to them.

The good:
·It was a fun take on Loki and Sigyn's story. Even the other gods, though only seen briefly had a new spin.
The bad:
·Sylvi and her inability to forgive Logan makes the story drag and her inner monologue is repetitive.

I thought I'd have a few more points for my list, but I'm tired and I just don't feel like it, so to sum up…it was meh, not super memorable but not bad enough to turn me off. I'll probably keep going with the series even if they're never as good as I think they're going to be.

This is the fifth book that I've read in the Mythean Arcsna series and if possible it's even more fast paced and exciting to read! A combination of Norse mythology and the enchanting Mythean world peopled by extraordinary immortals. The author cannily catches up with Loki who featured in the last book Stolen Fate and as the story begins Loki (or Logan as he now calls himself) has assumed the guise of his friend Ian and has taken his place in the prison for Magical Deviants ( don't you just love that title?) . However his mission has taken a nasty turn and his plans to escape are somewhat hampered by discovering the woman he loves is literally on the grounds above him! Sylvi is a Demi-goddess cast out of Asgard for daring to help Loki escape the wrath of his fellow Gods. When Loki shows up at her door injured her heart cries out to help him but her head realises that the male who destroyed her life once has the power to do it again. Resisting him is crucial to Sylvi's peace of mind but together they discover a heinous plot to destroy the remaining Gods and Goddesses. So begins a perilous journey that will take them to the very brinks of madness as sanity and the life they remember is placed on the line.
Oo I really liked this couple. Loki is always seen as an impulsive trickster but in this tale the author allows him to be brave, utterly relentless and totally self sacrificing ! Now doesn't a hunk like that deserve a special lady? Well step forward the utterly amazing Sylvi. Not only has she saved Loki in the past but her magical abilities can work wonders for him now. Oh. Yes Sylvi has the ability to strengthen her magic and without giving too much away it's a very enjoyable experience for Loki! Two very focused characters that deserve a happy ending but it's not ever going to be that easy!
This book for me was the best yet and at times it felt like an Indiana Jones movie! The author has conjured up a romance that truly resonates with the reader and cleverly corporates flashbacks to bring it further to life but the fast paced action scenes just blew me away. Great fun to read and this series just keeps getting better.

A wonderful follow up from the previous book! I expected Loki's story to be good, but even so it still exceeded those expectations of mine!

In the 5th book of the Mythean Arcana series, we find out more about Loki's past. Loki, apart from being the famous God of Mischief, is also one of Ian's closest friends - if not the only one. He's trying to stop a prison meant for gods to be built, and he enlists not only Ian and Fiona to make his plan work, but also the one woman he can't forget, Freya's daughter Sygin - who now goes by the name Sylvi and works for the Praesidium.

I think Linsey Hall has me thoroughly hooked with her work. It's official if it wasn't already, and it's a damn fact.

Because, unlike the previous books where there were tons of action and suspense, and we also read some really good love scenes on the side as a bonus, Loki's story was much deeper in plot, and much more twisted. Not to mention much more emotional. See, Loki did want to just stop the completion of the Labyrinth. He also wanted Sylvi back, when she wanted nothing to do with him, and that provided for numerous dramatic encounters and tension risings.

I don't know if this is the end of the series. I don't know if there will be a next book in the future. But I do know that, if this was the end, it was pretty damn satisfying. And if it's not, I cannot wait to see what else Ms. Hall has up her sleeve next!

This has been my least favourite in this world so far. I had to put this one down for a bit, because something happened that I truly wasn’t expecting. I’ve read dozens of books by this author, and while reluctant mates is a recurring theme, this was the first one I remember with dubcon. Yep, the dreaded dubcon made an appearance. She says no, but he knows how she truly feels and does it anyway… and then she really did want it. I wasn’t a big fan of the whole “you must forgive them to be whole” aspect either. Honestly, if they don’t apologise or acknowledge they did something awful to you, you don’t owe them jack. It’s a bit repetitious throughout, but I guess it does make you truly know the character and what their reactions are going to be.
This book focuses more around the mythology aspects than the previous stories (with the two characters being from Asgard, one a god, one a demi god) and plays into a lot of the Norse stuff, but with some twists. There’s lots of character cross over from the previous books but I think there’s enough explanation you could read this as a standalone if you chose without getting too lost.
The end solution is a bit of a plot hole

I picked up the very first book in the Mythean Arcana series on pure chance, now I an anxiously waiting for the next fix like a junky. Each in its own right can be a standalone that's how easily you get swept up into the Mythean world. This series is quickly becoming an all time fav. for me. Each book highlights another love swept couple and the unique struggles that they'll face, much like any romance. Yet the game changer here is the well developed world of Mythean's, God's and Immortals each having different struggles and abilities along with the complexity of love...pure magic!

Loki and Sigyn's story is one of growth, self sacrifice and owning your shit, all the good bad and in between. After hundreds of years and new identities these two still harbor baggage and not the Louis Vuitton kind.

Loki the deceiver what wouldn't he do to out strategize his fate? All this maneuvering has brought him full circle with life. Once again in the vicinity of the only other person with whom he felt a connection with and happens to be the same person he renounced, Sigyn.

Sigyn harbors a lifetime (maybe several lifetimes) of anger and hurt. Just imagine how that can fester. She gave up being a God for the love of a controlling manipulative Ass. She doesn't even realize how pissed off she still is until he shows up bleeding in her home. Right away he needs something and has all this I'm Sorry shit but, she is trying to live for her and her alone. After being blackballed by the other Gods for her association with Loki, she is a remade woman. With a new name and loving community she adores...that is until she hears from said Controlling manipulator that her sanctuary and all she holds dear has a triple threat with nefarious intentions!Loki isn't a total lost cause, he not only sacrifices all he is to save the woman he loves he also risks it all for the Gods that condemned him. Their quest is crazy and in the tribulations they find the courage to forgive and heal. Oh Yeah~

Don't get me wrong there is a ton that I didn't mention because you need to read the book, this one much like the others in the series is scorching in the bedroom! So thought out and lecherous in the most appealing way ever. I feel the heat was definitely turned up in this one. No Complaints here the build up and Climax were exquisite~

I find this series so thorough and unique from the thought concept of the plot to how gripping the characters are. Every book offers up diversity and passion not only the sexually charged kind either. The passion for living and acceptance, nothing is more rewarding than really connecting to a writer's work. Empathizing with the traits and thought process of the personalities to which you are reading about. That connection is the addiction, who hasn't been burned in life? Who doesn't like a comeback? A second chance? Isn't that the allure of a truly great read? Do not let me leave out the artsy creativity of it all, the back drop for the prison was amazing. The worlds LH creates are sustainable and second to none~

Well then pick up the book and give it a go!!

I received this book for an honest review, it was exceptional!!

After reading Stolen Fate I really wanted to know what the hell was going on with Norse Trickster God Loki aka Logan, so I was thrilled to find out that Fate Undone was going to be his story and what a story it is. From the first page you are off and running with Logan as he tries to put an end to a plan that will strip the powers from the Gods of the world and much more. As he is working out what to do he stumbles upon Sylvi, a demi goddess he fell in love with (and is still in love with), but also hurt quite badly many, many years ago in an attempt to do what he felt was best for her and finds that she just may be able to help him with his mission and possibly win her back.

Fate Undone is another fun addition to the The Mythean Arcana series that is filled with strong characters and lots of action that takes you all over the world and to other world planes, as well as back in time. The twists and turns of the story were done well and I can honestly say I didn’t figure the who done it part out at all. The action scenes were also well written and had me at the edge of my seat waiting to see who would make it out of the various predicaments that Logan, Sylvi and their friends found themselves in.

I really liked Logan/Loki and Sylvi and enjoyed learning about their past and the events that led up to where we meet them in the story. While we get to see Loki, the Trickster god, we also get to see another side of him that is tender, caring and wanting to do the right thing for someone even though that person may not agree. Sylvi is fun, intelligent, a tad bit stubborn but owns up to it. Since this is a second chance at love situation with Logan and Sylvi, the attraction is already there and it is simply a tug of war between Sylvi’s determination to not let Logan hurt her again vs. Logan’s absolute belief that he will win Sylvi’s heart back and I enjoyed watching as Logan not only broke down the barriers Sylvi had built up against him, but also how he came to realize that while what he may have done were done because he loved her, it may not have been the best thing for her.

A little side note: This book can definitely be read as a standalone, but I do recommend that you read Stolen Fate first since it introduces Logan and why he’s where he is at the beginning of the book.

Overall: Fate Undone is a fun and sexy read with lots of action and great characters set in a world that I would mind living in if I was able to.

Awesome 5 star book. Once an author starts a series it's difficult for consecutive books to be as good as the first. This is not so for Linsey Hall. Each book in this series (The Mythean Arcana Series #5) could be read as a stand alone and is as good as, if not better than the first book but personally I like reading them in order. Many of the characters are mentioned in previous books until they have their own story. Loki/Logan is the god known as the trickster. Sylvi is a demi-god with her own special powers. Upon meeting they fall in love but Loki is known for action when the other gods anger him so they retaliate. When this happens he cruelly pushes her away and they are separated for about 800 years. The way the author develops each character it's done so that you can imagine what the individuals and how the places appear. This couple goes through so many struggles and trials especially when trying to help or ensure the safety of the other. They'll do whatever it takes to save the other even at the expense of their own life. There are intense feelings, intrigue, suspense and romance throughout this story. I look forward to reading more of Ms Hall's books in the future. I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange solely for an honest opinion.

Bawling. Shockingly Good.

Oh, how this story wrenched at my heart strings. I love how it includes some of the people in previous books and the story building that makes you love the characters. The twists and shocking events kept me surprised until the very end. By far, this one is my favorite in this series. Perfect for adult (19+) readers of erotica, fantasy, magic, and gods of all pantheons.

A pretty good read. Had a bit of trouble staying focused during the read. Was glad Loki had been added to the list, but for me everything was off. The story dragged out, many things repeated and then BAM they live happily ever after :-/ Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy the lead up to, but don't just hurry the happily ever after.

Another beautiful story!

Linsey Hall has done it again! An addictive story line packed with raw emotion from the beginning to the end. The end seemed abrupt and a little quirky but not enough to keep you from running head first into the next book.

I was worried that this would be the last book in this series but it doesn't look like it. Or maybe I've just been REALLY interested in Loki...er, I mean, Logan's story. So I guess, in a way, it IS the end... the end of a long wait!! :)

Sylvi was a great heroine. I liked her so much because she's a heroine in the truest sense of the word. She's really brave and has no problem jumping into dangerous situations. Like, when she's inside this mountain cave/labyrinth thing... man, she's got lady balls of steel! Plus, she saves the hero a couple of times and not just in this book. There are flashbacks to the time when Sylvi and the hero met, and usually, I don't like flashbacks but these were all about the main characters and I learned so much about them through those flashbacks. Sylvi was so...steadfast in her devotion or love or her deep caring for the hero (in those flashbacks). It was impressive. And it was easy to see that she had been this bad ass and this determined for ages. For me, there was a lot to like about Sylvi.

Logan was a lot of fun but he was also a little bit deep, I think. Now, I've been waiting for his story for a while now (2 books? 3?) so I was super worried that no matter what the author did, I would be disappointed. Thankfully, not so! In previous books, Logan would swoop in (sometimes literally) and save the day or help the hero so I already liked him at the start of this book. Sure, he's made some mistakes and he's definitely been an ass but he's done what he thought was right and I had to admire that in him. I mean, he's a god. He was designed that way, you know? Having said that, I also thought it was really wonderful that Logan started to realize AND admit that maybe... just maybe, he may have made some mistakes in the past. For a god to admit that he's done something wrong, it's huge and it went a long way towards making him seem more human. I shouldn't have to say this, but just in case, Logan is a big, ol' sexy bad ass and he was a blast to read. I don't know much Norse mythology but I bet anyone who does will have some insight into Logan since some of his backstory sounded familiar. But what do I know? Any Norse mythology I know is from the movie Thor!

The Sexy Time... there was a decent amount and it was pretty hot! My jaw dropped in one of the scenes and I said (out loud!), "Oh Loki, you sly devil!" LOL! Anyway, even though Sylvi and Logan met each other over 800 years ago, its like they're starting over. They've both gone through lots of things over the intervening centuries and they're different people now. I liked that they had this history that I was learning about through the flashbacks. And it was nice to see them reconnecting in the present time too. I don't know why but it made the stakes feel higher somehow? I do know that I loved them as a couple and their scenes together were full of tension and drama and sadness and anger and laughter.

I loved this book. There was a little bit of humor, lots of action and plenty of mystery. I thought this book had a big Indiana Jones/Lara Croft Tomb Raider feel to it so I think fans of adventure in their romance might dig this book (get it? DIG this book? Bah ha ha). This is the fifth book in Linsey's Mythean Arcana series but I don't think it would be too big of a task to read this book as a stand-alone. There are a few characters/couples in this book that were featured in previous books but I didn't feel like knowledge of them was required at all. I went on an emotional roller coaster ride, especially with the action towards the end of the book. Geez, I was on the edge of my seat WITH tears in my eyes! The main characters and their rich history really sucked me in and I had a hard time putting this book down. I would absolutely recommend this book...and this whole series!

This is the fifth book in the outstandingly addictive, The Mythean Arcana series. It is wonderful and enchanting. Each book in this series draws you farther into the extraordinary world created, making you feel a part of the Mythean world. I adored this book. Loki is magnificent, and sexy as hell. Sylvi is fabulous in her strength and determination. Both characters are amazing and the fire crackling between them is almost combustible. As in all things though the past gets between them and with an uncertain future ahead for all gods and demi-gods, a happy ending might just be as wishful as the mists of time passing by. A must read book and series. I am seriously addicted to Linsey Hall’s writing.

Opening Line:

Asgard, Afterworld of the Norse Gods
1213AD

Pain tore through Loki’s chest, burning through every vein in his body.

The Review:

Logan Laufeyson, is in the prison for Magical Deviants, only thing is he’s not in as himself. Logan is the trickster god Loki, he’s on a mission, a mission that is about to come to a sudden and disastrous end. He needs help and there is only one person he can get it from.
Demi-goddess Sylvi, has spent the last eight hundred years trying to forget her long ago affair with Loki. An affair that left her dreams destroyed and got her banished for her troubles. When Loki escapes from prison and stumbles through her door, she must put past feelings aside, after all, Loki’s problem threatens not only him, but every god. Trying to resist him isn’t easy, especially as sex enhances her powers, and they must utilize her rare talent.
Thrown together, Loki and Sylvi must foil a masterful plot that if succeeded will make all gods vanish and be forgotten forever.

Notable Scene:

Her brows drew low over eyes that flamed. “What the hell do you think you’re-“
“Hello, Sigyn. Looking good.” She looked more than good. She looked amazing. Even more beautiful up close. Light shined from within her. She’d always seemed to glow and that hadn’t changed.
Shock froze her features, as if she couldn’t process what she was seeing. Her green eyes were dark and deep. Was she seeing their past?
He wasn’t. His thoughts were too full of her in the present. Beautiful and angry and so close to him that it clouded his mind even more than the pain.
“Loki,” she said. She had the slight accent of a Norwegian expatriate. Similar to his, he’d guess.
“You’re not the girl I remember.” This woman was tougher, more skilled, and potentially very, very dangerous. And hot as hell.
He was in trouble.
“Hardly.” Her gaze ran over him and her eyes widened at the sight of his blood-stained prison guard’s uniform. “You. You’re the escapee.”

This is the fifth installment of the Mythean Arcana series, yet I didn't realize this when I requested to review this book through Netgalley. My OCD will usually not let me start a series in the middle, I have to read all the preceding installments. I tried to do that here, but I didn't have time to add 4 books to my schedule this month. So to compromise, I read Braving Fate so I would get an introduction to the world and characters. It seems to have worked out okay. I was not lost, and had met at least some of the characters before.

This is the story of Trickster God Loki (now Logan) and demi-god Sygin (now Sylvi). Sylvi is the daughter of Freya and magic, and starts her life as a slave to the gods hoping to win their favor so she can be promoted to full godhood. Sylvi hates groveling to the arrogant gods and admires Loki for the way he stands up to them. As both outsiders, Sylvi and Loki are kindred spirits and fall in love. Then fate happens and they are torn apart after they have been banished from Asgard to Midgard (Earth). The majority of the story takes place 800 years later (with flashbacks to their time in Asgard). Loki and Sygin have been separated this whole time and have not seen one another, and Sygin has never forgiven Loki for the hurt he caused her 800 years ago. Loki must get Sygin to trust him again so they can work together to stop a plot to imprison all gods, themselves included.

I didn't know much about Loki, other than what I have watched in the Thor movies where Loki is Thor's nemesis and bad guy. Ms. Hall's Loki is nothing like that Loki - he represents the oppressed, stands up for the little guy, and acts as a balance to the gods. He is also very caring and does what he thinks is best for other people, even when his view of what's right doesn't line up with theirs. Sygin is a bit of a lost soul, she has always felt like an outsider and she was devastated by Loki's rejection and her banishment from Asgard. Unfortunately, she does not know how to forgive and nurtures those hurts like a best friend. So while I liked Slyvi, she did get on my nerves quite a bit by pushing Loki away when he was trying to win her back, even after she learned the real reason he pushed her away 800 years ago.

Other than that, this story moved along at a nice pace, had a good storyline and some steamy sex. Having just read Braving Fate, Ms. Hall's debut novel, I can tell that she has improved along with the series. The writing was much more smooth and I connected with the characters better in this fifth installment. Now I shall have to go back and catch up on the series before the next book comes out! 4 stars / 4 flames.

Another outstanding tale of myth and magic, Two super characters in the main parts and their fight to rekindle the love that had before being torn apart, makes for a riveting tale. A quite complicated ending was in store after the happenings in the story, but it was achieved with a creditable solution. I can't enthuse any more or I will be doing spoilers . Enjoyable and recommended reading.
