The Golden Scoop
Emma Miller built her journalistic career exposing Hollywood's biggest scandals—anonymously. It wasn’t meant to last, but when her column became the most ruthless in the industry, she was stuck behind it. When she’s offered the chance to write a front-cover feature under her real name on the biggest action star of the moment, who’s also her most hated acquaintance, Emma strikes a deliver her best piece yet, and she’s free from gossip for good.
Matt Hunt has spent years perfecting his public persona. Tough, confident, endlessly playful, and completely the opposite of who he really is. Now, with an Oscar-worthy role within reach, he needs more depth to his mask if he wants to seal the deal. Unfortunately, the journalist assigned to shadow him is the one woman immune to his charm, and his year long crush.
To make Emma see through the fake, Matt comes up with a truth-only outings. As carefully planned adventures turn into something far less controlled, the lines between assignment and attraction blur. And when the truth starts to look a lot like love, the story threatens to cost them far more than their careers.

First of all: thank you Ana Berbel for this ARC! 🤍
Ana did not disappoint with her second book. Her writing style is wonderfully addictive, making it hard to put the book down at times (my sleep wasn’t too happy about that 😉). The main characters, Emma and Matt, were, just like in her first book, impressively mature. They both brought a sense of emotional depth and steadiness that made the story even more appealing to me.
The tropes were also right up my alley. Enemies‑to‑lovers? Count me in. And the fact that he had been smitten with her for years… my heart melted. Can I please have a Matt in real life? 💛
The book also carried some beautiful messages, like standing up for yourself and remembering that people aren’t always what they seem. I did take off a tiny star because I felt Emma’s depth could have been explored a bit more. But that doesn’t change the fact that this book is an absolute gem! ✨
I’m already excited for Ana Berbel’s next release!

I was gifted an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Enemies to Lovers? 2000s rom-com vibes? Movie star who’s more than he seems? Sign me up!
I loved this book! From the very first chapter, I was hooked. With a dual point of view, I felt like I was thrown in the middle of the best bickering war between Emma and Matt at their best friend’s wedding.
It was well written and flowed well from the start. I enjoyed the back and forth between the characters and the way feelings were threaded in from the start.
Their chemistry was intense and I loved every moment of it. It’s low spice, but feels hot hot hot when their connection gets clearer.

I ate this up. Genuinely ate this up.
Oh my gosh I don’t even know where to start.
That was SO refreshing. Lots of tension, low spice and closed door. I loved every minute of it.
Matt and Emma 4 ever 🩵

“I never thought I’d have to walk into this chapel to meet the man I hate most.”
OKAAAAAY, YOU GOT MY ATTENTION, ANA. 😭
From the very beginning, I was completely hooked. The chemistry between Mills and Matt??? INSANE.
His cockiness was absolutely perfect because it made their dislike for each other feel so believable while also adding SO much tension between them. And the forced proximity? Literally everything to me.
And then finding out he’s one of the twelve people reading her blog… ON CHAPTER THREE??? GIRL. WHO ARE YOU FOOLING WITH THE WHOLE “I MIGHT HATE HIM EVEN MORE THAN I THOUGHT” THING??? 😭😭
What I loved most was how naturally their relationship developed. All those little moments had me melting: him remembering her coffee order, the swimming race, the nickname “Mills” their outings, the jealousy-inducing dates, and HIM ORDERING HER TWO EGG MCMUFFINS??? I’M SORRY. 😭
But the FLIRTING. THE FLIRTING. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a flirty MMC this much. The way Matt is so open and honest about his feelings while Mills is convinced he’s only doing it to get a good article out of her had me screaming at my book. And the fact that she gets frustrated because Matt is actually a genuinely nice guy and she can’t find anything to hold against him??? I CANNOT. 😭
And can we talk about the communication in this book??? 👏🏻 IMPECCABLE.
Something bothers you? TALK ABOUT IT.
Misunderstanding? COMMUNICATE.
It’s honestly refreshing to read a romance where the characters actually communicate instead of dragging out unnecessary drama.
Also, the grovel??? YES. He was trying so hard to prove that his feelings for her were real, messed up along the way, and then actually had to work to make things right. That is the grovel we NEED.
There were SO many lines I loved, but these especially had me kicking my feet:
“Don’t push it.” “I only push you, Mills.”
“I’d save you every time if you’d let me.”
“Morning, sunshine.”
“I wasn’t pretending yesterday.”
“This stopped feeling like an assignment a while ago.”
“Good girl.”
“I feel it too.”
And the ENDING. 🥹 It was genuinely so beautiful and left me with such a warm feeling.
Overall, The Golden Scoop was such a beautifully written romance with amazing tension, chemistry, banter, communication, and a relationship that I absolutely loved watching unfold. It wasn’t a perfect five-star read for me, but it was definitely one I had a LOT of fun reading, and I already know I want to read more from Ana.
Thank you so much, Ana, for sending me this ARC! 🤍

This story brought me so much joy reading. It's light, sweet and the banters were all very good. The Golden Scoop has all the ingredients you'd want in a Romance Comedy book : enemies (?) who can't stand each other, forced proximity that makes everything worse (or better, depending on how you look at it), and a male lead who has been quietly, hopelessly gone for his person for way longer than he'd ever admit.
Emma is a journalist with a sharp mind and some of her walls up, which makes sense once you understand what her career has cost her. Matt is a big Hollywood star who is, on the surface, exactly what you'd expect: charming, cocky, effortlessly charismatic. What Emma didn't know was that Matt is really a good actor because he was able to fool everyone with who he really was. It was really fascinating reading that gap between who he pretends to be and who he actually is slowly come into focus is one of the best parts of the book. He falls first, he falls hard, and the yearning is real.
The story throws them together through their best friends and then keeps them together through a career defining assignment, which gives the story a boost. Their banter is sharp and genuinely funny, the kind of back-and-forth that feels earned rather than just adversarial for the sake of it. The chemistry builds steadily, and even though this leans toward the low-spice end of the spectrum, the tension never lets up. That's harder to pull off than it sounds. It's also apparently the second book in a series, though for me I didn't feel it because it reads fine on its own.
A huge thank you to Ana Berbel for trusting me with an advance review copy of The Golden Scoop. I'm endlessly grateful for the chance! As always, every opinion in this review is completely my own.

“The Golden Scoop” was such a sweet, feel-good rom com with hilarious moments, witty characters, and heart-felt scenes that kept me smiling the whole time.
Matt is a Hollywood A+ action star and Emma is a journalist for the local celebrity magazine. These two can’t stand each other and are only near each other because their best friends are now getting married. After the wedding, Emma is tasked with doing an inside scoop article all about Matt and is forced to be on location and around him basically 24/7. This forced proximity may also force some sparks to fly!
Gosh, I really loved this story! Matt is the biggest green flag/golden retriever MMC who pines over Emma throughout, he definitely falls first and falls HARD! I wouldn’t call Emma a “black cat” per se, but she definitely has some walls up when it comes to lover boy/ action star Matt. Their chemistry is addicting and I could not stop laughing from their antics.
If you love your romances with low-spice, witty banter, a golden retriever MMC, cute text messages, and a strong opinionated FMC; then you should give this book a try!

What a stunning sequel! I enjoyed this book even MORE than the first one!
For all my romcom girlies out there, this is THE book to read! Ana Berbel always hits it out of the park with her romcom books and it truly feels like watching an early 2000’s romcom movie.
Emma was such a driven and brilliant fmc. I loved seeing her spark for writing and how fierce she was. I loved seeing how hesitant and closed off she was towards Matt at the beginning and how she later opened up. She truly had a golden heart and the best intentions.
Matt was such a fun charming mmc. I loved reading about all his cheesy grins and charisma. This man stole my heart for sure. Not only was he funny but thoughtful as well. I loved seeing his surprises for Emma and how much thought he puts into them. That last surprise in the epilogue felt so fitting I wanted to cry 🥹
I would definitely pick this book up if you’re a romcom lover (or someone who loves clean romances with all the swoon), you’ll truly miss out if you don’t 🤭💕
Thank you so much to the lovely author for an arc of this book!🫶

I LOVED this book! I absolutely flew through it because I could not wait to find out what happened next—but at the same time, I was having so much fun with Emma and Matt that I didn’t want their story to end.
The banter was top-notch and easily one of my favorite parts of the book. Emma and Matt had such a fun dynamic, and there were so many genuinely swoon-worthy moments along the way. I was honestly giddy while reading some of their interactions. Their chemistry made this such an entertaining and easy book to get completely wrapped up in.
I also really loved the character growth both Emma and Matt experienced throughout the story. Their individual journeys added so much more to the romance, and watching them evolve while their relationship developed made everything feel even more satisfying.
And the ending was absolutely perfect. It was exactly the kind of payoff I wanted after becoming so invested in these characters and their story.
This was fun, romantic, swoony, and an absolute joy to read. I loved every moment of it and highly recommend this book!

Review of advance copy received from Author
This book is a classic enemies to lovers! It's the second in a series, and while it can be read as a standalone, I wish I read The Lifeline Plan first. Matt falls first (and he fell hard). I have to say, I really didn't like him at all in the beginning, even knowing he wasn't going to be as bad as he seemed. He was crazy arrogant and cocky and definitely did some things I don't agree with. But around 25% through the book I did start to come around, just like Emma, and they're a good match! They have lots of tension and chemistry and their personalities mesh well together. This book is written in first person with a dual POV. For spice, I would describe the door as open a crack. The actions aren't actually on the page, but it's discussed a lot. I really enjoyed the comedy in the book!

This second book on the series is another cute and funny love romance.
I enjoyed Emma from book 1 and was glad to read her happy ending. She's feisty and confident. Matt is a bit cocky but sweet when it comes to her.
The banter and bickering was engaging and funny. Again, Ana's writting style is on point.
My only negative critic would be that at some point it was really obvious that Matt was into Emma, I mean it has been said and shown so many times in many ways except for those little three words and she kept wondering if he liked her that way. It didn't bother me but it is something that stood out to me.
I was happy that Julia and Joshua were still part of this book because the friendship between the girls was nice as well.
I received an advance copy and I'm leaving my honest opinion voluntarily.

dare i say i liked it more than the first...
First and foremost i'd like to thank ana berbel for granting me the opportunity to read an arc copy of "The Golden Scoop"
The Golden Scoop follows Emma and Matt.
Emma is a journalist tasked with writing a viscous take down of dream-boat-action-star
Matt Hunt and what evolves is a passionate and long awaited romance.
i absolutely loved the characters in this story, personally i am partial to characters that yearn like there is no tomorrow and Matt is nothing if not a yearner. i saw myself in Emma and the connection that they had was gorgeous. reading this felt like an early 2000s romcom— a feeling i look for in all the romance i read.
I love Ana's writing, it flows so well, it's perfectly descriptive without giving too much leaving plenty to the imagination which i adore.

Love to hate
Omg this was so amazing to read this book. I couldn't put it down once I started.
These two had amazing chemistry, well amazing hate banter.
Matthew is one of my favourites to have read you really end up realising there's more to him and the banter.
Emma is a writer and seriously hates Matthew, so is forced into a situation that shows his true self.
Loved how this story planned out, their outings were so adorably sweet and him yearning was something else, haha those overalls are his weakness 😆
I was worried at one point but glad what happened, happened. well worth the ending we patiently waited for.

Finished this book a few days ago and I’m still thinking about it, it was a joyful and emotional ride to read it, totally one of the best romance books of the year.
since the beginning it catches you with the whole enemies to lovers and you just need to know more and more, read this book in almost one day because I really couldn’t put it down; loved the pov from both sides, as a girl in her early 30s it’s very nice to see this mature characters develop, and omg the yearning another level, Ana is such a great writer, it was a very warm hug to my heart

I loved this book!
I received the ARC from the author and I’m so grateful!
When I read The Lifeline Plan I had talked to the author that I’d love more of their story, and then she came out with this one!
I absolutely adored the enemies to lovers, the strong FMC and how sweet the end was. This book is incredible and I couldn’t put it down!
I can’t wait to read what she writes next! Thank you Ana!

This is one of the best books I’ve ever read. The yearning, banter and tension is incredible. I am afraid I might have a book slump after this book. The characters are well written and love how this book brings up how sometime people misjudged someone based on their on their looks or what nots. Until they get to know the real the problem behind their mask.

Also lowk gave me how to lose a guy in 10 days in the best way possible which I was so here for. I was lucky enough to receive an advance reader copy from Ana Berbel in exchange for my honest opinion.
Wonderful! It has vibes of ‘How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days’ Which is my favorite RomCom so I loved every second of The Golden Scoop.
