The first in Rie Warren’s Carolina Bad Boys spin-off series, Bad Boys of Retribution MC, and a first time read by this author for me. I must say, I was impressed by the author's ability to capture the essence and develop both the lead characters throughout the novel. Hunter and JB were fierce, passionate, sexy and sassy, lovable and cute. Both with hearts of gold. Throughout the book, we're given different sides of each character, and we see how they entwine themselves into the story line, adding to the intensity and plot of the novel.
Hunter Sexton is a trained mercenary for the government.A silent killer. Think about Scandal - B13- some serious secret black ops job. Finally settling into a semi-normal life within the Retribution MC, and working with the local police department, Hunter hopes to put his secret life to rest. Because of his job status, Hunter has always lived his life by the same set of rules as his job. No emotions, no attachments and definitely no collateral damage. Becoming a father, with his regular fix, whenever he was in town, was a shocker for Hunter. It's wasn't a love match, but Hunter and Mel, remained friends and great parents to their five year old son, Jack.
Jack was gift, pure and simple. The one thing that made the whole mess of my life not only bearable but sometimes frigging magical.
I loved seeing a softer fatherly side of Hunter. The badass biker, killer, THE GHOST, became a different person when around his son. Still badass, but his parenting was remarkable and the love shun through for this son.
Within the clubhouse, a certain curvy, chestnut hair, seductress struts in with the First Ladies. JB, or jailbait as she's been nicknamed. Hunter has never reacted so strongly to a woman before. Immediately. Intensely, An probably destructively.
JB is a young woman filled with attitude. Just as strong and fierce as Hunter, this woman knows what she wants and she isn't afraid to fight or stand up for it. To call bullshit, and put people in their places. Namely Hunter. She's sweet and endearing on the outside and a total wildcat in the sack. She has some seriously sexy tricks in the bedroom.
After an intensely passionate night together, Hunter realizes even more now, just like the night of their first kiss, that he can't get attached to JB. He's working on leaving his past behind him and she would only complicate the situation.
Well, the situation soon becomes even more complicated or transparent, depending on your POV. Because JB plays a more intricate part in Hunter's life than he thought possible. Learning that this red lipped devil has more to her than her looks, captivates Hunter and seals the deal for him.
As the plot thickens, Hunter's past comes knocking. A former MC president is looking for revenge. And he will stop at nothing, to cause as much destruction and lay it Hunter's feet as possible. An eye for an eye.
We learn just how strong JB is when faced with adversity. This woman has bigger balls than Hunter. She fights harder than he ever thought possible. Even when pushing her away, she rode that storm out, without cowering from rejection, and surged ahead.

Oh, Rie Warren. What in the actual fuck are you? Some kind of sexy-book-writing alien? With each new read, Ms. Warren impresses me more and more with her writing, her funny and fresh stories, and her infinitely lickable and likeable characters. Hunter, the Ghost, is whew, de-lic-ious.
A good guy with a bad, bad past, Hunter is like the magazine from L.A. Confidential… “Off the record, on the QT and very Hush-Hush.” He knows he’s no good for anyone, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to dirty up sweet, innocent looking JB.
JB may not be as clean as she seems; certainly not when her kinky side comes out or when she’s straddling her hot-as-hell motorcycle. But that doesn’t mean hooking up with her isn’t a big mistake on Hunter’s part.
When the past comes back to haunt Ghost, and JB is thrust into the centre of a dirty, deadly game, Hunter knows he has to save her…but from those after him, or from himself?
The first in Ms. Warren’s Carolina Bad Boys spin-off series, Bad Boys of Retribution MC, this one isn’t as light-hearted and laugh-out-loud funny as Stone and co. Don’t get me wrong, there are some epic moments here and I was grinning from ear-to-ear at times, but where those Carolina boys skewed towards humor, the Retribution men are definitely dirtier.
Oh, did I mention that I mean that in both senses? Dirtier as in darker (but not ‘dark’) and dirtier as in kinkier. Hunter has some panty-combusting, hot-flush-inducing, oh-my-god sexy times and they are so fucking good, I was squirming in my seat. And it had some, ‘Holy moly, did that just happen?’ moments too.
I really loved Hunter and I am so excited for the other books to come in this series. Each of the upcoming characters make appearances here, in ways biggish and small, and all have me intrigued, particularly Cole… Bring on more Bad Boys, Rie. This is a super sexy hot MC read. This book is certainly my favourite of this authors so far.
This is Hunters story aka Ghost. He gets the name Ghost as he's so quiet and discreet. He's dark, sexy and mysterious. He's a whole lotta sexiness. We also see a kind soft side to Hunter as well. Not sure which side I preferred. Dam I liked both lol When Hunters past comes back to haunt him he does what he can for who he loves
JB wants Hunter. She's a teacher but she's also a tough cookie. I really liked her. She's a great match for Hunter.
This is a great fast paced and intense read. Looking forward to reading more of this authors books.

I usually love MC books, but I just couldn't get into this one. I couldn't connect with the characters and it just wasn't a good fit for me.

Hunter has all the elements of a great MC book. You can only do so much with an MC book that hasn't been done. I have read others that have some gang/mob/other MC affiliation that have been good, but I think the "feel" of this one is what made it stand out.
I loved the depth of Hunter's character, the past that made him who he is, but because of his past he's forgetting who he really is. The men of Retribution played a part but the story wasn't all about them but it always still had that MC feel to it. I was intrigued by the slow build between Jessica and Hunter, the chemistry was hot. The man's sweetness for his son is heart melting.
I can't wait to crack open Kinkaid and see where Ms. Warren goes with him. I love the remaining characters lined up for this 4 part series.

Hunter just doesn't beat around the bush, “I only do subtle when I work. Not when I’m effing. I’m probably no good at romance either, but I take care of my people, and I can definitely take care of you in all the right ways, sweetheart.” JB sometimes has to focus her man back on track, his thoughts are generally otherwise occupied, “let’s get back to Jack, shall we?” she asked. Probably a better idea than whipping out my c*** and jacking off in front of her. I nodded." Hunter he knows how to grovel when he's done bad, “brought dinner. And wine. And flowers.” I hefted the bags in front of me. “You know, to say sorry, and since I’m a s*** cook.” when planning a romantic vacation Hunter has the right thought, "I swallowed harshly. “Thought we could stay in a snowbound cabin and eff in front of the fire for about a week.” This book was extra hot and I loved the characters.

As soon as Hunter Sexton lays eyes on the First Ladies of Redemption MC newbie JB, he's done in. For years, Hunter has been an undercover ghost, only recently deciding to settle in SC to be close to his son Jack. When he attends an event at Jack's school, he learns that JB is none other than Miss Jessica Barnes, kindergarten teacher extraordinaire. Hunter is shocked, and completely turned on at the hot for teacher thing JB's got going on. Now, as much as he doesn't want her in any danger from his black ops past, specifically one bad Cuban mofo named Vicente, he can't seem to stay away from the woman! Hunter's time is up, and he'll have to plan the most important op of his life to keep Jessica and Jack safe.
HUNTER is the first book in the Bad Boys of Retribution MC series, a spinoff of the wildly erotic and fun Carolina Bad Boys series by the talented Ms. Warren. Hunter originally showed up in the Carolina Bad Boys series as an undercover agent investigating the Retribution MC, and he was such a mysterious and edgy character that I couldn't wait to learn more about him. Now with his own story, I have to say that Hunter is up there on my list of favorite MC's from Ms. Warren's insanely horny array of bad boys. Ms. Warren simply writes THE MOST freakin' raunchy and wicked sex scenes, all the more erotic since they're written from the dude's POV. Check out this nugget:
"My balls bounced with a wet slap against her chin when she released them. Her fingers curled around the base of my cock, and she slapped the hot meat against her full, sumptuous lips."
Yup. Drrrrrty. I love it.
Hunter and JB have chemistry, but to be honest, I thought it fell a little short. Their strange progression from "gotta stay away from her" to "I'm in love with her" was a stretch, especially since I'm pretty sure they never even had a date first! This story was more about the danger from Hunter's past, and I adored the bromance between him and Walker as they fought to figure out a way out of Vicente's clutches. The suspense in HUNTER was definitely the best part of the story, especially the last 2/3 of the book.

Hunter Sexton…he’s not what he seems. Some think he is with the MC, others the police but one thing for sure is he is a ghost. Hunter was not only sexy and dangerous, he is also sweet and caring. JB or Jessica is feisty, strong, independent and a woman I easily liked which is sometimes hard in MC novels. The plot was fast, exciting, intense and hot hot hot!! There is something for every MC lover or those who love a fast paced novel. The sex scenes were hot and the suspense was just right! I was intrigued throughout and was never sure what way it was going to go. My only complaint is that something the monologue seemed a bit monotone so the emotions didn’t always come across and I would have liked the drama at the end to have been dragged out a little bit more because I was really enjoying it and wanting more!

Wow what a ride! Rie Warren hits another one out of the park with the sexy and thrilling Hunter.
Hunter has a past where the lines between right and wrong were blurred for the greater good, but after his last job he's wondering if there really is such a thing. He's blackened his soul for that good and the only thing keeping him together is the love of a little boy. He doesn't have anything more to give anyone else…not even the vixen that captures his undivided attention.

You'd never guess JB had a day job doing what she does, but oh how it fits her sweet personality. She may seem sexy as hell and completely untouchable to all of the guys, but she's just being carefree and doing what makes her happy. Two separate lives, one person. There's only one small hitch…she cannot seem to keep her eyes off Hunter, and he's a complication she definitely isn't prepared for.

Hunter has a past, a history that needs to stay that way. But it catches up with him, big time. Jessica gets caught in the cross fire.
From the blurb, I expected Jessica to have her say, but she doesn't! So this book was down a bit from the point that became clear. As much as I don't like multiple POV told in the first person, SINGLE POV is worse!! I need to know what she's thinking and feeling, especially at key points along the way.
AND! I'm reading this on the back of another MC book. There are marked differences, there isn't so much illegal activites here, murder, violence all play a part, but not so much of the other stuff, drug dealing, gun running and the like. AND I LOVED THAT!! The MC club takes an almost backstage part to this story, its soley concentrates on Hunter, his past, present and what he wants his future to be. And his past in complicated! Took me a while to get my head round all the little hints and snippets, I tell ya! It all became clear just a fraction of a page before the story makes it clear, if that makes sense? It does to me, anyway!
Its a spin off from another series, I haven't read those books. I know from some reviews I've read that some of those characters take part here, but I've no idea who is who, in that regard. I didn't feel like I was missing anything, though, I just didn't know who had their story told, and what happened, thats all!
There is a lead into book two, Kinkaid. But he takes very ittle part here, and that makes me wonder if Hunter and Jessica will take little part in his story. I can only see, I have that to read for review too :-)

This is the first book in a spin-off series, but I'm happy to report that it's fully-readable as a standalone. There's not a lot of jabbering explaining past book events or persons, which is also awesome. I love when I can just hop into a whole new world with only minimal introduction.
Hunter "Ghost" Sexton is a part-time liaison to the Mt. Pleasant Police, now on furlough from his government mercenary job. His last big mission went sideways, resulting in a lot of dead specialists and one escaped drug lord. Hunter is always on guard against the creeps finding out about his little boy, an adorable 6 y/o named Jack, so he keeps he true last name under wraps, and keeps a low profile.
Still, even a ghost needs lovin' and he's really, really attracted to a fellow biker, JB, aka Miss Jessica Barnes, who knows Ghost's little Jack in the teacherly sense. I loved the banter between these two. JB is no shrinking violet. She rocks a Ducati and corset like the baddest of biker babes, but she's also tender and smart with a wicked humor.
Ghost learns Jack and JB are being targeted and is ready to sacrifice himself and what does JB do? She smacks some sense into Ghost's brain. Good girl!
As you can imagine, there's gonna be an Okay Corral-type showdown--only it happens with a horde of Retribution bikers at Hunter's back. He's not only found the woman he never dreamed of, he's found a real home for the first time. And, this is an erotic romance. So..sexytimes galore. (Can I get an amen?)

Hunter is an all around badass, also known as Ghost. He has a less than clean past that makes him lay low, if not for his son, he would just be the proverbial here today gone tomorrow type of person. But all changes when he meets a sexy woman on a Ducati who turns his life upside down.
Jessica is a school teacher by day and a femme fatale by night. She is a woman who is very confident in her sexuality and has no problem expressing what she wants and how she wants it. When a sexy as sin man takes her home, she enjoys their night and is ready to move along the next morning. But this time things are different, just how different they are, she'll soon find out.
These two start out to just be one night stand, but soon things turn into much more. They find out that maybe the best things in life are the ones you never knew you needed.
The sexual chemistry between these characters and sex are both are definitely steamy, and you can count on getting your motor revving from reading them.
The ending was awesome, I told myself, now that is one way to get her to do what you want,. you go Hunter. This is a well written, laugh out loud story with a little bit for everyone, you have some MC action, Alpha males, strippers, and just an all around cute story.
Highly recommend if you are looking for a very entertaining, fast paced book with hot, hot sex.

Hunter needs to settle into a more stable life with fewer complications but his past won't let him go. Rie Warren has mad skills and can certainly bring the heat as Hunter is volcanically hot. I had enjoyed her previous series of Carolina Bad Boys so knew I was in for a treat with this spin off. The writing for Hunter is steamy, clever, sneakily funny, and surprisingly sweet. Although part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed the plot as well as all the continued and newly introduced characters, and look forward to reading more of this series.

"Hunter" is the first installment of the Bad Boys of Retribution series, a spin-off to Rie Warren's Carolina Bad Boys series. It follows the title character, Hunter, the latest member of Retribution MC, who also happens to be an undercover agent of sorts and a 'wannabee' police officer of sorts.
He's got a past that he wants to leave behind, but unfinished business has a way of following you around, which is not what you want when your goals are to change your life, keep your kid safe and try not to mess up with a hot and sassy biker babe. Except getting that all done is easier said than done.
To be honest, I didn't connect quite as much with this story as I did with Rie's previous work. To be fair, the fact that I read this during a busy time in my life might have made matters worse. I do still think it was fun, emotional and exciting all rolled into one though, so I don't think anyone would be disappointed by this one.

Hunter (Sexton) Angelo. Trying to shake your past doesn't always work. Hunter is desperately moving on after a bad Undercover OP. I really enjoyed this book. This spin off series, the previous series, and author have sucked me in and I felt like I knew all the characters and can't wait to read more about all of them. I love the Charleston and Mt Pleasant area so it was great to imagine the places Rie writes about in my mind. It's hard to tell you how great this book is without spoilers. But, if you want some great laughs, hot and sexy couples, pretty strong female characters, and handsome men who are also courteous and love their ladies, this is the book and series for you!

I have given this story a 5 star rating because it was awesome.
Hunter, was an amazingly hot bad boy with a lot of secrets, easy to see why women swooned when he was in the room.
Action packed, fast paced, well written & definitely why I love a great motorcycle club romance.

Mysterious
Hunter’s story was very mysterious and heart breaking all at the same time. I don’t know in what order any of these books should’ve been read but someone else should check before they start to read all these books.
Hunter has his passed revealed and JB still manages to fall in love with him just like he did her. They do get their HEA.

Hot! Hunter and JB are hot! Loved their chemistry. This story was exciting - action, suspense, steam, humor, angst and the reappearance of a danger of the past. Now I am going to go read the rest of the series....

The reason I like reading a series from start to finish is because I feel like I miss something when reading in the middle or even the spin off before the original. UGH!! All in all this book was suspenseful as well as beautiful!!

First time I’ve read this author and I’ve really enjoyed Hunter. Great MC book and I haven’t enjoyed one for ages. Lots of action and great steamy sex. That you would expect in an MC book
