Jess has caught the bug, and it's bad. The horse lovers' bug, that is. The bad part- lessons are too expensive for her parents' tight budget. The good part is- her friend Rosie from her first and only riding camp offers Jess her sister's spot on a riding vacation! It is a dream come true. A week's free Pony Trek.
A dream, that is, until she doesn't get to ride her favorite pony Tim- Georgie does, and Jess is stuck with Bilbo the Biter.
And that is just the beginning- when Georgie starts having accident after accident out on the trail- all fingers point to Jess as the culprit! Even Rosie's mind has been poisoned against her.
British author but as far as I know not published in the UK. She has written a number of pony books for the USA/German publisher Stabenfeldt, although they sadly were not taken up by British publishers. Gill was born near London and though she longed to ride, it was not until she was a student and went on a trekking holiday in Scotland that her wish came true. She now lives in Somerset and has taken up riding once more. As well as writing she also teaches and writes and directs plays. She founded a theatre group called the Malford Players.
A book from my younger years (sheesh, that makes me sound old, haha 😂🤪) that still holds up! This is different from the horse book norm adventure with a lot of drama and horse fun and still remains one of my favorites. There were a few typos and one horse’s gender kept being switched which got annoying, but otherwise I found nothing else wrong with it.
This the only book by this author that I like and I don’t recommend any of her others, but if you want a fun, light horse adventure with complicated relationships and some drama I would recommend giving this one a shot!
‼️Content‼️
Language: gosh; bitchily; oh my God (1)
Violence: injuries (not detailed); characters fall off ponies; a girl falls out of a tree
Sexual: a kiss (not detailed)
Other: a couple mentions of girl’s parent having died in a car crash and how much she misses them; a character is blamed for stuff they didn’t do
