In a world defined by war over control, Rosalyn Kerster is a commander carrying a secret she cannot afford to reveal.

The Company and the Legion are locked in a conflict over the future of free will itself—one side seeking to shape choice, the other fighting to preserve it.

When Kyren, High Commander of the opposing Legion, returns after years of absence from her life bearing a warning that she will one day destroy everything, Rosalyn is forced into an uneasy alliance with the one man she has hated since childhood.

But war leaves little room for refusal—and as circumstances force them closer together, the line between enemy and ally begins to blur. Kyren becomes harder to ignore, and Rosalyn is pulled into choices she never intended to make.

Not every future is meant to be prevented.
Only survived.

On this occasion.... I'm going to begin at the end. Lilian Gray what are you doing to me?! I'm going to need Book 2 sooner than later, please and thank you.

I lost my world entirely when I opened this book and fell into Rosalyn and Kyren's. It was incredibly easy to get tangled up in the threads, the magic and the story that Lilian created for us. The world building is seamless- we are only told what we need to know, when we need to know it so it never feels forced or overwhelming with information.

Our characters are introduced in a way makes us want to get to know them better and if I'm completely honest, I didn't like Kyren at first. He was cocky, arrogant, handsome and to top it off, the High Commander of the enemy...and the flashbacks to when they were younger did him no favours. We watch Vell become Kyren and then even more significantly... Ren. As the plot develops, so does he- and on this occasion I'm more than happy to be proven wrong!

Rosalyn's forbidden thread had me OBSESSED- and she was definitely channelling her inner Elsa "conceal don't feel" trying to hide her power. I absolutely love an exceptionally powerful FMC and the badass with the banned ability "on pain of death" was exactly who we needed to go toe to toe with Kyren.

Whilst there is a war at the centre of this tale, Lilian shows a different aspect that demonstrates fierce loyalty on both sides, shifting allegiances and woven in political strategy in a way that had me thinking I could apply for the next war council.

If you want a slow burn, high stakes romance that's riddled with tension... This is for you.

My Rating: 4⭐️

Tropes 📖
- Military Setting
- Enemies to lovers
- High Stakes
- Slow Burn
- - Powerful FMC
- Morally Grey MMC, Who Would Burn The World For Her
- Deadly Magic

Eloryn is a world locked in a deadly war between the Company and the Legion. I enjoyed the world building in this story, the politics and military setting.

Kyren, the powerful, handsome, High Commander of the Legion turns up at the Company base demanding to see Commander Rosalyn. Sworn enemies on opposite sides of the war, they are forced to team up after Kyren has a vision where he sees Rosalyn losing control of her power and killing thousands of people.

This story has high stakes, dangerous secrets, blurred lines and irresistible tension. I enjoyed Kyren and Rosalyn’s relationship, they shouldn’t work on paper but their chemistry and growing tension proved hard to ignore.

It took me a little while to understand the magic system with the threads, flux and orbs but it was an interesting concept. I enjoyed the Fate Anchorer and Future Sight and how the roles played out in the story and interacted with each other.

I really enjoyed the shock revelation at the end too. I hope there’s going to be a second book, as I need to know what they’re going to do next.

Overall, this was a great military romance, that gave me sci-fi vibes. I rate it 4⭐️

ARC- Advanced Reader Copy

One of the reasons I love reading indie authors is that they strive to be unique. This book is no different. The world building the author accomplished was fantastic. Time jumps were done thoughtfully to provide insight to history that form the characters into who they are. The magic used throughout is unique to this story (at least to my knowledge) I’ve never read anything like it. And although is was a bit confusing for me at first I accepted it and went with the flow and by the end decided that I don’t have to fully understand is to enjoy reading about it. :)

Character development was a large portion of the story. The FMC has strong only child and/or oldest daughter tendencies. The I’m going to shoulder everything, I don’t want to burden anyone, need to be strong, only show weakness when alone. Watching her develop and trust others is great.

While the MMC is a brute, but definitely has the bad boy vibes that you can’t help but like him even when he’s being an absolute prick.

The yearning and build up between the characters is magnificent. And when they finally give in to their desires… chef’s kiss. The spice is worth the wait and doesn’t disappoint.

So grateful I was given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC and look forward to the next installment.

I dived into Threadbound blindly without knowing what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised from start to finish.

It was an easy, comfortable read that quickly drew me in. From the very beginning, the story carried a sense of mystery and intrigue that made it hard to put down. The characters—despite all their glory, power, and might—felt deeply human. They were layered with emotions that felt incredibly relatable. Their fears, failures, and struggles were set in a fantastical world, yet remained grounded in a way that made them easy The balance between plot and character moments made the reading experience feel smooth and immersive, with just the right amount of tension to keep me turning pages.

I am already looking forward to the next part of the series, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.

A huge congratulations to Lilian Gray for writing such a strong and impressive debut novel.

Thank you, Lilian Gray, for allowing me the opportunity to read your book!
This book follows our FMC, Rosalyn, leader of a rebellion army. Roz is forced into an alliance with the enemy Commander to protect her army & friends.

The world building is relatively light, but I didn’t feel like I was missing information. There are multiple timelines and points of view, and the story jumps from one to the other smoothly, giving you relevant background information as you go.
🌶️
Will I read book 2? YES.

Quotes 💬
“Rosalyn left them to it, briefly considering whether she should fetch a tape measure.”
“Oh for f*cks sake. How many times do I have to save her life for you to get the point?”
“I’d rather you not say his name right now. Not with these thoughts I’m having about you.”

Four stars instead of five because I have to wait for the sequel.. When the main characters, their world and the storyline get to me this much, I really hate waiting.

Threadbound did exactly what I love when reading; I was dragged into a very different society with vivid and interesting details, met appealing main characters I couldn't let go of ❤️❤️, dreamed about what I read and led me to an intriguing final chapter.

Can't wait to find out MORE about Eloryn, Rosalyn&Kyren and their future 🙏🏻

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 available tomorrow 4th August

I was lucky enough to be chosen as an ARC reader for this book, and I’m so glad I was! Thank you so much @Lilian Gray | Author for the opportunity💜

I really enjoyed this story. It’s a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers fantasy with a magic and military backdrop that kept me invested from start to finish. The tension between the FMC and MMC is incredible, and their chemistry builds naturally throughout the story.

Rosalyn Kerster is a commander carrying a dangerous secret in a world torn apart by war over the future of free will. The Company and the Legion are locked in a fierce conflict—one determined to control choice, the other fighting to protect it.

When Kyren, the High Commander of the opposing Legion, returns after years away with a chilling warning that Rosalyn will one day destroy everything, she’s forced into an uneasy alliance with the one man she’s hated since childhood. As the war intensifies and circumstances push them together, the line between enemy and ally begins to blur, leading to impossible choices and undeniable feelings.

The world-building was engaging, the characters were compelling, and I loved watching the relationship develop at a believable pace. If you enjoy plenty of tension, slow-burn romance, and capable, strong FMC and MMC characters, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.

I’d definitely recommend this book to fans of slow-burn romance, enemies to lovers, military fantasy, and stories filled with magic and high stakes.

4,5/5 stars

I don't often do ARCs but I followed Threadbound for a while and decided to reach out. The author was kind enough to send me a copy.
We spoke about the book for a while, and at one point the author jokingly described it as "Fourth Wing but completely different", which made me both happy and nervous as a FW fan. I also didn't understand what to expect from that until I read the story and was positively surprised.

There are overlapping elements, like Threads (a little like signets but different enough to be considered a unique magic system), a military setting, a few throwbacks to an academy setting and both the FMC and MMC have strong, dangerous powers.

For the rest, the plot, characters and overall feel of the book are definitely different in a very good way. They're Threadbound. I really enjoyed the storyline, the character progression. The slow burn was slow enough to make the payoff so worth it and the plottwist at the end was crazy good.

Favourite character: Lieke or Cat
Favourite quote: "But if you want answers, I’d suggest your hand be a little higher next time."
Favourite chapter: 23

The author makes the characters feel real, authentic and different even though the tropes are common (enemies to lovers, slow burn, morally grey mmc, forbidden powers) which is the biggest compliment I have for this book.

I received this ARC directly from the author on TikTok, and all I knew going in was that it was a fantasy military setting with a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance. I can honestly say this book far exceeded my expectations!
I expected it to be good, but the more I read, the higher my rating climbed. By the end, I was completely hooked.
Rosalyn is such a relatable main character, and I knew from the very beginning that I was going to love her. She's strong-willed, determined, and exactly the kind of female protagonist I always find myself gravitating toward. Kyren is deliciously morally gray, and I absolutely loved reading his POVs and getting to watch his character development firsthand. (I also kind of loved him from the start!)
The one thing I did find myself wanting more of is background info on the war.
This book is truly a gem, and I'm so, so thankful I had the opportunity to be an ARC reader for it. And just like so many other reviews have mentioned, the ending was PHENOMENAL. That cliffhanger?! I immediately needed the next book.
I'll be (not so) patiently waiting for the next installment!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“You’re destined to destroy everything.” Yeah… say less. I was IN.

This book throws you straight into a world where people are literally at war over free will, and once I got my bearings, I couldn’t stop turning the pages.

Rosalyn is fierce, stubborn, and carrying secrets that could change everything. Kyren? The childhood enemy who walks back into her life with a prophecy that she’s going to destroy the world. The chemistry between these two was packed with tension, resentment, and all those delicious “I should hate you… so why can’t I stay away?” vibes.

The world-building is ambitious, the stakes are huge, and there were several moments that had me desperately needing to know what was coming next. I did want a little more emotional punch in a few scenes, which is why this wasn’t quite a five-star read for me, but I was still completely invested.

✨ Childhood enemies
⚔️ Forced alliance
🖤 Slow-burn tension
🔮 Prophecies
💥 High-stakes fantasy
❤️‍🔥 “We shouldn’t trust each other” energy

Well, the slow burn was truly burning in this story. This is an enemies to lovers slow burn military/magical romance. The tension between the FMC and MMC had me in a chokehold and I couldn’t put it down.

Rosalyn the FMC has a secret that she’s hidden from everyone her whole life, anyone that knew is now dead. But it’s weighing her down and as things unfold she has to share her secrets with her mortal enemy. Ren the high commander of the Legion. Ren, who can see future events, becomes an informant and what starts as duty to save life’s turns into something so much hotter as slow burn romance ensues between the two characters.

Flash backs are peppered throughout the book, which helps the story move forward nicely, there’s dual POV and a unique magic system, it’s an all rounder and I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy. This was an ARC read and the book will be out on 4th August!

Received an ARC of Threadbound and I'm happy to have received the opportunity. Threadbound surprised me in a good way. The tension between the characters is very well done, a true enemies to lovers. The slow burn is slow. Just the way I like it.

The world-building is excellent. Orbs made from Flux that form a magic system. You can tell the author put a lot of thought behind it.

I hadn't expected to enjoy the military setting, but I did. It ended up something like "Fourth Wing meets Harry Potter" but without the school aspect.

The ending had me looking for more. Can't wait to see Threadbound #2 in the future.

SO HAPPY I was able to get an ARC from the author.
The ending turned it from a 4 to 5 stars for me (and there will be a 2nd book!!)

+ Deliciously arrogant MMC (I swear Kyren's right up there to be my next book boyfriend.)
+ Strong FMC who isn't 18 years old.
+ True enemies to lovers.
+ Interesting magic system.

My favorite quote: "That darkness could be yours... If you want it to be."

Kind of a Fourth Wing meets Harry Potter. Without the schools. Or the dragons... This makes no sense, I know. Just read it.

If I could improve one thing, it'd be that I'd love to get more obscure details on the magic system/schooling, since I'm a sucker for those things.

ARC copy from the author

When I tell you I almost yelled at my boox when I finished this book and that I could not stop reading, I think that tell enough about how much I liked this book. But let me put it into more words either way, because it deserves it and it deserves to be read by everyone who loved fantasy with magic, banter, enemies to lovers, touch her and die and something so captivating that it was hard to let go - I kind of NEED the next book !

So I have laughed SO much in this book, I loved the banter and the relationships there are in this, both the friends and the love interest. I LOVED Kyren, the way he is descriped where you either love or hate him. For me he was just the right amount of cocky and charming that I really liked his caracter.
The romance is a nice supplot, it was there but it was not the main focus. And the pay off was so perfect.
I also giggled a lot, I read some of it where my sister was in the room and she looked funny at me many times as I could not stop laughing, giggling and kicking my feet.
I also cried. So there where lots of feelings trough this story.
I loved that there where some chapters from the past to get to know the characters and their stories more.
I loved the magic system, so exciting and different.
I was wondering why the war started, we know it started long before it really started but at the same time I didn’t miss the information because it felt like the story unfolds itself the longer we get into it so I am excited to find out more about their story and this universe in the next book.
It was an Easy 5 star read for me !

This book was something new for me, in a good way! I’m not usually a lover of a slow burn but this changed my mind. The tension between the two characters was so thick that I couldn’t put this down! I loved how much they hated each other throughout the book and the cliffhanger was crazy! I already asked if there was going to be a book 2!

Incredibly lucky to receive an ARC for this book. I loved the MMC, his POV chapters were so gripping and I found I liked him from the beginning. I would have liked to know a bit more background on the war which would have made me more invested in either side. The side characters are all intriguing and the ending is a great twist.
