Logan McCall had always wanted to be a family man—in spite of—his playboy reputation. Find his mate, have a few pups and settle down into a long, loving relationship. That sounded good, real good to him.
During a storm that rocked Chicago for three days, Logan found fate had a wicked sense of humor when it sent nurse Katie Wilson tumbling into his life.
Driving along a snow covered highway in the middle of a blizzard, Katie swore off men. It was a man who had put her in this dangerous situation. Well, a man and her stubborn pride. Unwilling to waste the romantic getaway that had already been paid for at a secluded mountain cabin just outside the city, she decided to enjoy the weekend all by herself—if you didn’t count the adult toys she had packed in her suitcase and the multiple pints of ice cream she planned to buy on her way out of the city.
The last thing she’d been expecting on her binge-eating, binge-crying weekend was being Saved by the Wolf.
This is the last book of the McCall Brothers Trilogy and though I liked this one better than Jarod's book I didn't like it as much as I did Hunter's book.
To be honest this one was kind of boring. We know that Logan is the CFO and financial wizard and that he's tired of being the playboy of Chicago and is wanting to find his mate and have a family. Apparently Logan more of a homebody than any of his other brothers. I thought, wow, now we'll be getting the story of the best brother, but as it turns out he is the most boring too.
Sara is a nurse who just recently found out that her boyfriend is a cheating jerk and she walked on him in the supply room having sex with another woman (another nurse? I can't remember and really didn't care).
I was also disappointed that we didn't get any closure about the McCall brother's dad and his relationship with his sons especially Hunter. I guess Hunter and his dad had a falling out because the dad wanted Hunter to work at their company, but Hunter decided to go into the military. Hunter mentions in the previous book that his father doesn't care for him and Logan tells him that's not true and that he is really proud of him. Of course this was never resolved in this book. Ugh. I hate when authors do that. I guess she forgot to include that here.
Hopefully if she ever re-writes these books she will fix this along with all the other grammatical errors that are in these books. This is not something I mentioned in the previous two books, but yes, it was kind of distracting! I overlooked the first book I read and gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn't include all the errors in my review and because I really liked the book and also probably because it was my first book of hers I've read, but I just can't ignore it here.
Novella, a good story Told very quickly. He's a wealthy wolf shifter, she's a nurse self conscious about her body, recently hurt by her cheating boyfriend. When they meet he knows she's his mate. She's human and thinks he's a playboy. She decides to have a good time with him. It quick read.
The synopsis had me sold on this one! I had high expectations that this would be a unique shifter romance, but I am sad to say that was not the case. Even though it started out original, in quickly fell into an all too familiar pattern. It felt like tons of other shifter books Ive read. It wasn’t bad, but it was pretty cliché.
The pros: * It was offered on kindleunlimited * The sex was pretty hot
The cons: * I didn’t care for the hero - he just seemed overly arrogant * Speaking of not liking the hero, I found him way too pushy. The first day he is with her he readily admits that he must and will have her in his bed immediately. I mean, come on..........give the girl a chance to get to know you at least. She was reluctant, but he was overly pushing and far too demanding for sex that early on. That was not an endearing quality for him. * I get the whole "he knew she was his mate the moment he met her" thing, but this one still had far too much of an insta-love for my preference. I just didn’t feel the bond or chemistry between this couple. * Overly predictable and a bit lame * The plot was lacking - nothing really happened aside from sex. No action, no character building etc.
Overall, this isnt one Id recommend. I don’t feel like the hero and heroine knew a thing about one another, and yet within a day or 2 they were professing their love for one another. Just no depth or story foundation.
Overall: Katie is headed up to the mountains because her (ex)boyfriend scheduled a romantic trip for them, but before they even left the hospital she found him fucking a nurse in the supply room. Katie decides to go up to the mountain by herself and when she gets to the mountain cabin, she finds out that her key doesn't work and she goes around the house to try and find a way in. Logan is going up to his house in the mountains because a friend asked him to watch his house and to also just be free from the city. When he gets to his house he finds out that someone is already there and than he finds his mate sprawled out in the snow unconscious. For the next two days Logan takes his take wooing Katie and the story ends with a HEA. I really loved the story, I just wish that it was a little longer. I felt the connection happened too quickly and they were already saying I love you by day three. I did like that the story took you 6 weeks in advance.
Characters: Logan & Katie
Page Turner: Yes
Series Cont: Yes, but it will be another brother's tale of finding a mate.
This is the third book of the 3 book series “The McCall Brothers” and it does not disappoint. Marie has the best ability to describe a man undressing, better than any other author I’ve come across. In a previous book, in one of “The Holiday Ball” series, she describes a shifter taking off his tux. Wow, was that a good scene! And in this book, Logan is dressed for a snowy walk through the woods when she describes him taking everything off in order to shift. It makes me appreciate men more than I already did. This story was very satisfying because of Katie's predicament having just caught her boyfriend, doctor, boffing another nurse right before their planned weekend getaway. I liked that she ended up having her very life being saved by Logan, and then spending the weekend with him instead, a weekend that changed her life (and his) forever. I liked that they had access to all the food they needed or wanted, unlike the other two previous books where the couples had to exist on non perishable snack foods for their mating weekends. In this story, I would have liked to have read about what the cheating doctor did when he learned that his ex girlfriend ended up married to the most eligible and wealthy bachelor in the city of Chicago.
This story was no better than the first one and I couldn't even finish it. The grammar and missing words had improved from the first one, however, there was a sentence in the first sex chapter that I had to read three times and still didn't get what it was meant to have been saying. I liked the idea that the ladies in all the stories were big girls with curves. But lets face it did they all have to seem like the typical insecure fat chick craving a mans attention that she spreads her legs and confesses her love with within 12 hours of meeting the guys. The blokes were not really much better with there crude pillow talk. I don't think much of this series of stories which is just one book split up if you go by the chapters. I'm glad I got it in a box set because I sure as hell would not have paid for them and don't really feel a pull to read any other books by this author.
Katie is a nurse who found her boyfriend in a compromising position on the day they were supposed to leave for a mountain get away. As she’s on her way to the cabin that she paid for it starts to seriously snow. She arrives at what she thinks is her cabin and things don’t go the way she planned at all. Logan decides to spend the winter storm at his cabin instead of in town. When he reaches it he finds a young woman laid out in the snow and realizes that she is his mate. As they get to know each other Logan and Katie get over the hurdle of her not satisfied with herself but knowing that they both have found what they want and need.
Logan McCall is heading for his cabin for a little lone time before the holidays. Before the family gets together. He knows Hunter is on his way home from his last mission and Jarrod always shows up and his sister and her lion shifter husband and 3 kids will make his Mom and Dad have a Merry Christmas. Until he sees the garage door open and a body covered in snow on his garage floor. Another mate is found and he is happy! Sweet fun read. Loved it.
This was a wonderful book. Lots of action and danger but lovely ending. I felt for Jill so much she went thru so much to get to where she was. Luc was so stoic to start not wanting more heartbreak. When they finally got together there was so much love and joy and Luc was so wonderfully caring and gentle. I read that the author wanted to write books that she would be able to share with her children in the future and this book definetly fits the bill. ARC copy with voluntary review.
A great finish to the trilogy ! I would suggest you read books 1&2 first since book 3 gives spoilers. All three stoies happen at the same time. Fate handed all 3 wolves their mates in a snow storm. There is a lot of bedroom scenes in this book. The female being curvy has self doubts about her self throughout the book. I wished the male had complement her body more to help her get over that. He talked alot in his head but he needed to voice her thoughts to her. She had her internal struggles but she just went for it anyways. A nice read and the epilogue at the end mirrors the one in book 2 just a different view point.
A nurse burned by love is caught in a blizzard and rescued by a marriage-minded wolf shifter.
This is Marie Mason's third short novel starring the McCall brothers--billionaire wolf shifters looking for their fated mates.
Katie travels up to a mountain retreat that her new boyfriend--who turned out to be a no-good cheat--booked for their romantic getaway. She doesn't want the trip to go to waste. A blizzard hits as she arrives. The key given to her doesn't work. As she tries to find a way inside, she falls and knocks herself out.
Logan McCall heads up to his luxurious mountain hideaway to check on it. The snow is no big deal to him. But it is to the half-frozen person he finds on his property. He takes her inside and it isn't long before his nose tells him that this isn't just any would-be intruder---this is the woman he's been waiting for, the one he's nearly given up on ever finding.
We know what happens from here. And that's fine. I pick these books up because I want a particular type of romance with just enough steam to carry me along to the HEA. What I liked about the two previous books in this series is that they gave me what I expected and still managed to be fresh and interesting.
SAVED BY THE WOLF doesn't have the degree of chemistry between hero and heroine that the first two books provide. Logan is kind of a one-note character. He knows what he wants and he's gonna get it, even if it means breaking down the walls Katie has built around her recently bruised heart. But he doesn't have his brothers' charisma. Maybe it's the setting...It's a bit cushy compared to being trapped in a high-rise office or a no-star motel. It needed stronger characters to carry it. Katie has a bit more spark than Logan, but her insecurities get tedious after a while.
There are also some noticeable errors in this book. Normally a few typos don't bother me. Or even a bigger boo boo--like calling Logan by his brother's name. Not a huge deal if the rest of the story crackles. But this one, though it has some steamy moments, doesn't quite make it. The best part for me was when Katie sees the cabin she was supposed to stay in. Things get interesting as the reader wonders whether she really will make a serious attempt to tough it out in such a hovel. But Mason lets her off too easy. I think that's the problem with the whole book, the characters have it too easy.
another bbw/shifter book that left a nasty taste with me. this one was longer that the other two in the series about three brothers Mccall (i wonder if she watches teenwolf?) but all are sadly lacking. a vague description of the brother/s, but they scent their bbw mates and must feed, care, protect (but there is nothing to protect them from except the same day weather that is going throughout this books) needed some baddies tossed in. although this on had i think the most potential a er nurse is going away with her doc bf, he arrives early to get her for the weekend away she finds him bare assed balls deep in another nurse- so off she goes to the cabin herself. again snowstorm that is blanketing the area. she is discovered by (i just read it and cant recall the main characters name) hurt outside his cabin (oh he's a rich shifter) again we the readers are treated to 'scent mate, protect mate, fuck mate' not necessarily in that order. I had such high hopes for this series but the writer let me down so far down that the dust bunnies are like giants. maybe this book was the one where the female had tiny hands or the guy had a monster cock (her hand closed around him but her fingers didn't meet). eye roll worth read. my recommendation is do not waste your money, time on this or the others in the series. errors (that any editor should have caught), flips n flops in pov (which makes me seasick if it's not well done). well live n learn.
I decided to go ahead and read this since I had already borrowed it from KU. I was hoping that this would be better than the other two in this series, cause Logan was the only brother that had wanted to find his mate. It was a good story, but there was just too much of the same circumstances from book #2, almost like a repeat with a few minor changes.
The one thing that has been consistent with this series is the horrible editing errors. I know that no book is perfect, I don't expect it to be, but these are beyond simple misspelled words or typos. Another problem is the way the POV's change from one paragraph to the next, without any warning or indicators that it's changing. Both of these issues made it difficult to connect with the story. This book seemed to be about his family, mating, and sex, with very little else. I suggest that if you're interested, request a sample of the book to see if it is something that you can enjoy.
End of the McCall alpha shifter brother trilogy.....
Out of the three, this book read better. Logan was the youngest of the brothers and the one longing for a home, mate and family. Katie is nurse, after finding her doctor boyfriend banging a colleague in the supply cupboard, makes a run for it to the cabin that they were suppose to go to on a romantic break. She gets lost and Logan finds her. This was still insta-love, but at least there was a play for respect and no coercion into decisions....well, not much anyway! Again, a phone call of misunderstanding, but nothing of a dramatic proportions. Katie has a little more umph about her and does get to be assertive, but the story still frustratingly lacked that "something"????
It ends on a HFN with a retelling of Hunter's homecoming at the airport, but from Logan and Katie's POV. Again ended on a happy.
3.5 stars A good fun read giving the last McCall brother his long awaited mate. Why did Logan not tell Katie she was his mate, instead of wooing her. It might have taken her a little bit of time to process that fact but she would have felt more secure. Logan has longed for his mate for ages and always said he would not waste time like Jarod did then he fails to communicate. If Katie had pulled him up on his playboy image Logan would have known what was going through her mind. Miscommunication always caused problems, especially when Katie overhears Logan’s end of the conversation that caused Hunter so many problems with Julie and thinks the same way Julie did. Silly men. I did love their little ending in the airport but I still believe the ending in book 2 should have been the conclusion for all three brothers in this book.
A strong story that will leave you glad you read it.
Marie Mason has a way of drawing you into the lives of her characters so deeply that I have to remind myself that they are made up. Katie and Logan's story did that and more. I liked that the plot was action driven and the characters were fully developed. I wasn't too keen about some transitions, like we were in Katie's head and in the next paragraph we're in Logan's. It only happened like twice so it didn't truly affect the flow, it was just more of a hiccup. I love how Logan calls his Mom for advice and it doesn't make him less than masculine. I liked the conflict that Katie felt between what she wanted and what she was used to getting. This is a really sweet love story that you should definitely not miss.
I liked Logan's story way better than Jarod's. Whereas Jarod comes off as a first class jerk. Logan is funny and very sweet. Sexy oh boy. Katie has been recently hurt by her ex like that same day. So, I totally get her apprehension trusting Logan and being with him. I just laughed when he found her outside and brought her in and had to strip her bare after finding out shes his mate. Trying to be a gentleman and he's groaning the whole time. HA. Unlike his brother Jarod, Logan embraces finding his mate and wants to claim her like right now. I do wish he told her sooner about being mates. Especially after he knotted her...I would have explained myself but I know he didnt because she was really skittish. :) Enjoyed their story and look forward to Hunter.
This story was so good and I would have even gone for 5 stars but...the grammatical errors and typos. They drove me crazy and really detracted from how good the writing was. It was a little different take on a shifter romance and I really liked it. I liked it enough to buy the other 2 books in this series, I just hope there aren't so many distracting typographical problems. It was a terrific story that deserves to stand in all its glory. I do recommend the read to readers who enjoy paranormal romance, and someone to read and help the author edit. Great story.
When I first received my Kindle, Marie Mason was one of the first authors I tried. I have been a fan ever since. Her stories do not disappoint, and Saved by the Wolf is no exception. I loved Logan's character from the first. His playboy reputation hides a man wanting a mate and pups. The whole premise, in all three books, is about a woman stranded in a snow storm with an Alpha wolf shifter, which was fantastic. I can't wait to read more by this author.
While I think Ms. Mason's books are worth reading, I am grateful that I read them for free on Kindle Unlimited. I would be very upset to pay for something that needs editing/proofreading this badly. Story line and characters are interesting, but I find myself continually reading something over in order to make sense of it. The character may be referred to by a wrong name, or words that seem made up (non-adventurism virgin?) or even incorrect information - 75 degrees is NOT a "steamy shower" it is a cold pool! Simple fixes and I'd five this a 5-star review.
First and foremost I thought this book was adorable. I loved how crazy they were about each other right from the start. Logan was sweet and the right kind of alpha that you just love. It was a bit short and I thought the author could have done so much more with this couple but I loved it all the same. The only thing I had problem with was that it was a little to far fetched that she didn't freak the f*ck out in the beginning when he gave her a shower while she was unconscious. Don't think so. But other than that great book.
What to much sex. Not enough adventure and mocha wolf stuff. Remember w ed are interested in the aspects of him being a wolf. What good is it to read sex scene after sex scene. We buy books on shifters to see their supernatural powers not just read about them having sex over and over. I thought at least the deadbeat boyfriend would'm rd show up and so'm e action would hap o enough. The on loo y as action that happened was on the sheets. I don't think a by one needs that much erotica.
I've read this before but for whatever reason this wasn't marked in my Goodreads, and I read it again. The fact I didn't remember reading it is telling- and it's a pretty cliche 'stranded with a shifter' tale. It's done with Mason's signature style, and token butt-play scene. Seriously. Every one of her books includes some kind of action with the female's 'brown puckered hole' (such a sexy term. not.) Honestly, if you have a very light skinned female, like in this book, if she has a 'brown hole' she obviously isn't wiping well enough. Ain't anything sexy bout poor personal hygiene.
Sigh...Definitely one of those books that, for me, made it very easy to do a switcheroo and place myself in Katie's role. Nicely written, a smooth read. Very likeable characters. It's nice to find a male shifter written with more sweetness and humor than as a dominant ass that tames with meeting his mate. Sweet and sexy, steaming at times, I really want to be her!
Saved By The Wolf was my first book by Marie Mason. Unlike many shifter books, this book is well written and has an actual story, not just sex. I enjoyed reading Logan and Katie's story. Marie Mason has delivered a good story with lovable characters, humor, drama and sizzling sex scenes. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. Saved By The Wolf is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
What a story, very hot even in the snowed in world.
The way he takes care of her is so sweet. And how he fights for her when she is back on her feet is hot, very hot. She has just walked in on her boyfriend with another woman and she decides to go on the weekend away alone. But she certainly doesn't trust Logan because of his playboy living. But he knows she is his mate and fights for her with all he has in a very sexy way
Everything that Marie Mason writes is such a blast to read!! And in this case, she has written about these amazing three brothers and their curvy women. This book is my favorite as Logan has been my favorite character so far. It's incredibly sweet and hot! You can't miss it!
