Reasons for doing this: I knew I probably wasn't going to appreciate the insight this author had when I read "Fast Tracks for Success: Be a Girl." No. Just no. Being a woman on Twitch is NOT a fast track for success and I really wish this idea would die. If it WAS a fast track to success I'd have my first payout already, but it's been six months and while I've been growing steadily, I wouldn't say I'm exactly rollin' in the bits. So this is a myth. It doesn't matter what your gender is. If your content is crap, it's crap.
Secondly...
Do NOT promote your own stream in someone else's stream. This is a terrible bit of advice and it's a good way to get yourself blacklisted from pretty much everyone's communities. No one likes it when you do this, so don't tell people to do this.
This book is not helpful. My husband is a YouTube personality and I must say the tips and tricks in this book are either outdated or just plain ill-advised. At one point the author suggest you ask viewers on other streams to come watch you, this is bad streamer ettiquette, DO NOT do this! My suggestion if you are interested in YT or Twitch is to research actual successful channels, join a stream team, get hooked up with a charity that utilizes this type of social media and learn from them. This is a very tough and often toxic business, but it can be done.
So this was... not great. "Being a girl" does not equate to success at all. Also, shut up. The misogynistic commentary peppered throughout just shows how far Twitch culture still has to go. Also also, this is old and somewhat outdated. However, the basics still and always will hold up. What I appreciated was having a list of suggestions to scan for improving my stream. It wasn't even anything new, just helpful to see it all in one place. Again, keep in mind that some of this advice is bad. Really bad.
This book is amazing, so good that I've manage to complete it in 2 day as I need time in between to absorb a lot of useful information here. There so many tricks here which are mostly listed down and explain in great details. A lot of the trick that in here are pretty common, if new streamers have already done some research via YouTube however there also a few sneaky tricks I've discovered in this book first.
Great and easy read, highly recommend it for streamers.
I picked this up specifically for tips and tricks for starting a Twitch stream. The advice is easy to follow as beyond helpful- especially to someone unfamiliar with the process.
There are some good points here, along with some reference items I will be going back to review. This is definitely a quick read and a starter. There is a lot to learn about the mechanics of streaming. I may come back to this book after I've done more reading and exploring.
