Hendrix "Cannon" Cole is a major D*ck. That's D*ck with a capital D.

He's nicknamed "Cannon" because of the weapon between his legs.

He's damaged, dirty, and demanding. A sexy-as-f*ck ex-Marine.

My stepbrother.

I used to hate him. Then I loved him. Then I hated him again.

Our history is complicated. But my family thinks he's the perfect solution to my problem. A scandal has thrown me into the limelight, and I'll be screwed if I don't stay on the straight and narrow. Now, Hendrix's new job is making sure I behave.

What I didn't count on was being stuck spending every waking moment with him.

The heat between us is explosive. But if he fires that cannon, we'll both get burned.

This is the only Step Brother love story sorts of books I've rather enjoyed and I can honestly say they keep on getting better! Unlike the first two this one was more emotional (WELL IT MADE ME .. ANYWAY). It was a comical, unconventional as well as a nontraditional kind of novel. Addison is a rather famous singer who has a love/hate relationship with her new hunk of a bodyguard which is also her step brother. The tension is unbearable and just keeps on BUILDING! It wasn't a lengthy novel however it felt as if it was only because Sabrina Paige just about kills you with the anticipation! I loved this technique it definitely kept me wanting more therefore I will as well with this review so go on .. read this novel better yet this series!!

I carry her the fuck out of there,

Really enjoyed this one, it was a fun, quick read that was more emotional than the previous books in the series.

Hendrix 'Cannon' Cole is back from the Marines after serving 5 years. He spent 5 years trying to forget his stepsister, and he failed miserably.

Addison Stone is a famous country singer, who after being in the limelight since young, is forced to spend time with the stepbrother who she fell in love with at fifteen, when he is assigned to be her bodyguard.

Sparks fly, there is a little bit of push and pull, but it is quite clear that they are meant to be. Hendrix was a sexy alpha, and he was very cute and protective.

Overall, I thought it was a very enjoyable read.

This is a standalone novel, told in dual POV.

** 4 “road trip” STARS **

“It’s goddamned torture. Every moment of every f*cking day I’m near you is f*cking torture. (…) You don’t get it, Addy-girl.”

“Get what?”

Being away from you is a million times worse.

description

Addison “Addy” Stone, a famous country singer since childhood, has tried really hard to forget Hendrix, her stepbrother that left to join the Marines 5 years ago. She could not even stand to be in his presence when their parents first got married, yes, but then later…after getting to know him, the real him, she started wanting him with a wild lust, longing and perhaps even love, which hasn’t changed to this day.

description

5 years with the Marines spent to get away from his stepsister Addy did nothing to cure Hendrix “Cannon” Cole from the crazy love he has for that girl. Now he is back, assigned to be her new bodyguard, and Hendrix is determined not to make the same mistakes again this time: He will not let Addy slip from his fingers, no, he will finally make her HIS.

description

So why not 5 stars?

#1 // Hendrix calling Addy “sweet cheeks”. Ew, dude. Just ew.

#2 // The uneventful and slightly disappointing ending. I wanted to see some drama!

OVERALL: I am totally obsessed with these stepbrother romances, you guys! I'm sure you'd all enjoy the sh*t outta them as well! ;)

First off all I must say that this is the best book in this series so far. I know I said the same thing about Tool but what can I do? Things keep getting better and better :D

description

Hendrix "Cannon" Cole is an Ex-Marine (yes...drool worthy...I know :P) that comes back home after five years and has to babysit his stepsister and be her personal bodyguard. The ladies call him Cannon...I wonder why is that? :P

description

description

Addison Stone is a famous country singer that was made a star at an early age. After she makes a few poor choices she finds herself stuck with her infuriating stepbrother as her bodyguard...a guy she hates very much...or that's what she keeps telling herself.

description

The action from the book keeps going between the present and the past...so we get the whole picture off their relationship and how they ended up here.

Although this is a pretty standard stepbrother romance what I loved the most was how mature the characters seemed even if they had their childish moments. They didn't have the whole forbidden love thing that is usual for this type of books but more of a I'm not good enough/he doesn't feel the same way/she's to young hang-ups.

Also there was no big break up/fight/run at the end. They get busted literally in the middle of some steamy stuff and from then on they own it and don't beat themselves up.

description

And of course they live happily ever after :D

4 “Cannon” Stars.

Despite Hendrix and Addy have had feelings for each other in the past, the Marine and Addy’s career and fame eventually turned them apart. Now, after Addy’s relationship with her music company being on the rocks after some scandals, their mother and stepfather decide that the better way to keep Addy “on the line”, is to hire her stepfather’s son, Hendrix, who just got back from the Marines, as her bodyguard. With their forced proximity, feelings they thought were buried are quickly coming back. And Hendrix soon realizes that more the protect Abby, he wants to have her, this time for good.

I’ve stated several times that I normally run away from stepbrother’s romance like a school kid runs away from homework on the weekends. For some reason, this series by Sabrina Paige always got me since the beginning. Maybe is the fact that she turned a genre that a lot of authors are taking too seriously and turn it into funny, light and well written books that engage the reader from the beginning. The storylines are simple, the drama isn’t too much, just enough to keep us entertaining, the romance are sweet and he have enough steamy moments to fan ourselves. What more can we ask for?

Characters Development: Despite some minor annoyances with both characters, I really liked them both. I loved the sassiness of Addy and eventually and fierceness. And I really liked the “alpha” protective side of Hendrix. As a couple they were pretty awesome together.

So, this stepbrother love story is a little different from SP's first two books and one of the main differences is that the two main characters actually lived together as siblings for two years before they went their separate ways...for a while.

Hendrix thought putting time and distance between the two of them would cool his feelings but that was not the case. If anything, it only made his feelings more intense.

Addison (Addy) thinks she's living her life but she's really not and it takes Hendrix coming back into her life to make her see that.

description

We get flashbacks to what happened to them when they were younger and it helps you to understand what's going on with them and their family. I especially loved Addy's sister, Grace and her son, Brady.

They're both trying to figure out a way to make things work but they don't make it easy on each other. It was interesting to see how things came together. And of course, gotta love that ending and the epilogue!

The Good Stuff:

Dual Pov's? Yes.

Steam Factor? (Scale 1 - 5) 4...I'm a little over the whole first time being bare thing.

Angst? (Scale 1 - 5) 2...if that.

Next book? I'm sure there will be one but nothing posted yet.

RATING: 3 Hearts! :)

Cannon might not be a perfect step-brother romance read, but at least it is a huge step-up from the previous book in this series. A straightforward plot, likeable characters, some angst, a bevy of sexy scenes, non-convoluted drama, and a pinch of emotions – all combine to deliver this satisfactory read.

The story arc for this series runs the same, the bad boy and good girl falling in love, and the proverbial misunderstanding/miscommunication to round out the drama. And yet, the simplicity in the plot never gets old rather a welcome addition.

Hendrix “Cannon” Cole is the typical ex-military alpha-male, and Addison “Addy” Stone is the typical does-everything-to-please-parents country singer with a feisty side. While the plot and characters are nothing original, the “different” in this comes with the addition of the past-present back and forth, giving us Hendrix and Addy’s back story as well as solidifying their present story with well needed emotions. Hendrix and Addy as a couple are the highlight of this story, their romance littered with angst and sexual tension, which builds to some very steamy sex scenes.

description
“We’ll live our version of happily ever after. And that’s enough.”

While this is enjoyable for the most part, some elements took away from that enjoyment. Most notably, the lack of character development and the hero’s past not being explored in detail, instead it is just plainly stated. There are references to Hendrix suffering from PTSD, but there is no build up to it and no scenes showing the struggles of such a condition. The emotional set-up would have been far more intricate had Ms. Paige delved into this aspect further.

Overall, Cannon is a fun and light read, with a nice, albeit predictable, ending. Despite the mediocrity of the series, it does end on a positive note, hence the possibility of more future Sabrina Paige reads for me.

After reading Sabrina Paige’s first two Stepbrother Romance books, I was expecting another hot, sexy page turner. But what I got instead was a sweet, angsty romance with a side of HOT AS F#CK!

Addison Stone is a country music sensation. She’s lost control of her life and is in the hands of her Wicked Bitch manager – a.k.a. her mother. Worried about Addy’s public image and the morality clause in her contract, her mother and stepfather (The Colonel) force her to take on a new bodyguard to keep her out of “trouble”. When it’s revealed that she will be guarded by Hendrix, her stepbrother … well, let’s just say things start to heat up pretty rapidly.

This book has some really great love/hate moments. The banter isn’t bad, but it’s more of a sexual teasing than a true war of words. The steam factor is definitely set on high … and I had considered changing my name to Addy, just so I could imagine that Hendrix was whispering those dirty, dirty things in MY ear. One whispered “Addy-girl” & I’d be a puddle at his feet.

The more serious tone to this story (compared to the first 2 of the series) is not overplayed. Yes, he’s a vet. Yes, he’s a little damaged. But, for the majority of the book it’s only hinted at … definitely not the focal point. I found this aspect to be more of a distraction than a true plot point – but it certainly helped in character development. Hendrix became a much more empathetic character as his Marine life was revealed.

Overall, Cannon is a great book … perfect for summertime reading, when you just want to relax with some smutty goodness and a total swoon worthy lead male. The sweet side of the story leaves me feeling very satisfied.

Addy is a famous country singer in Nashville, a total atta girl. While, Hendrix, her step brother is the black sheep of the family and rebellious boy. He blame it on his hormones. When they first met each other during their teenage years, they have this wild attraction between them, but unable to act on them. So Hendrix resort to being an ass, as usual.

Five years later, Hendrix came back a changed man from the Marine and end up being Addy's bodyguard cum babysitter.

Whenever I picked up a Sabrina Paige book, I expect to enjoy the fun sexy romp without hurting my brain with the drama llama. In this third book, I can see Sabrina tried to form a stronger emotional connection between the H/h by having some meaningful flashbacks between these two step-siblings and refrain them from acting impulsively on their attraction. But I felt a tad disappointed that the entire first half was emphasizing on their unrequited love. The feelings get quite repetitive after awhile. I miss the whole reckless sexy romp like the one I got in Prick. For me waiting until 50% for the sex is a long wait because there isn't a subplot to distract me. There is a hint of PTSD on Hendrix's part, but it was not dealt with in detail. There is an opportunity to explore more on that if Sabrina wants to change the tone of the book into a more serious one.

Overall, the tone of Cannon is at the borderline. Not too serious, but not enough sex for me to categorize as a guilty pleasure read.

This is my 4th Sabrina Paige books, so even though I didn't love this as much as the rest of them, I'm still anticipating her next release.

This is the third book in the series A Stepbrother Romance by Sabrina Paige, although each of them is a stand alone. Unlike the previous, however this is quite a different story.

“...that's why light exists - to illuminate the dark places.”

***Quick Review:***

Series: Third book in the series A Stepbrother Romance, although each of them is a stand alone.
Grade: Stepbrother romance. Music and military theme.
Main characters: Hendrix "Cannon" Cole is a hot, adrenaline-seeking ex-Marine. Addison Stone is a country music sweetheart.
Secondary characters: A bit of cool scenes with sister Grace and her toddler Brady.
Steamy: Sensual. Standard sex scenes.
Sensitive topic:
Love triangle:
Cheating:
Cliffhanger:
HEA:

For who I would recommend? For those who want to read a short, light stepbrother romance story.

***

About the plot: Addison is a famous country singer. She began her adventure with music as a child, she took part in the TV show. Since then, her life is crazy. It required from her being a good girl. Circumstances put her in a bad light, therefore her parents decide to give her a babysitter (assistant, bodyguard, I have no idea...), who will withdraw her from the problems. The solution to her problem has to be returning from war, stepbrother, Hendrix. But no one knows that between them was the past that left injuries. They now need to work together and consider if they were able to forget about each other, or will put at risk future young star on scandal.

"Every moment of every fucking day I'm near you is fucking torture."

Why only 3 stars? What mostly I don't like was that constantly back and forth. It was at some point a little annoying. She wants him, she can't. He wants her, he shouldn't have. You know they had to talk honestly with each other. And that, without these immature games.

Also not the strongest storyline, because it had too little time to develop some things. Past and present intertwine between chapters. It don't disturb reading, because those parts of the past were short - which was cool - but maybe took too much time that could be spent on the right story.

"You are mine, Addy.  It's a fact.  But when I mark you as mine, you'll fucking know it."

Final thoughts: Compared to the first two books Sabrina Paige. This is definitely more emotional. We don't have here a lot of funny scenes, to which before was bigger focus. It is nice and short. Not a lot of time to develop better character and their story. I say in such a book - a breaker. You are reading this to break from intense books and spend a nice evening with a brief story.

4 "crying at 3:00AM" stars !

NOW I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TAYLOR SWIFT!

Okay srew that I said I didn't feel it! I'm crying right now and I DON'T want to sleep anymore!

At first I really didn't feel it! But I've never lost hope that I would love it!

Addy and Hendrix loved each other since they met but as every normal teenager they pretended that they hate eachother. Besides that they become best friends really fast they've never confessed that they are inlove.

America's Sweet Heart Addy is not happy with her life anymore. Missing Hendrix, going to concerts, endless stupid parties and listening to her Wicked bitch of mother become her routine. Her true passion always remained writing songs and her guitar.. writing songs about HIM!

Hendrix broke my heart! With his attitude of a bad boy and then joying Marines and become a real MAN. His loss did a number on me! I loved how funny he was besides everything that happend to him. Strong, brave, chocky and charming! I loved that he never stopped loving Addy. Wrote her letters that he never sent! (I may or may not cry right now thinking about it...)

They were driven by lust and insatiability . Their love was real, pure and RAW! They were HOT for each other, wanted to explore eveything together!

I would say that this one was MORE emotional than the others. I may not enjoyed from the very begining but Sabrina Paige never disappoints !!!

I loved the book, the fact that it made me cry (for me) means that the story TOUCHED MY HEART and I'm really HAPPY that I continue reading it.
The ending was PERFECT !!!

Byeeee 'cause I'm gonna listen Taylor Swift some moreeee! meh meh

I totally love this author! ♥

This book was…amazing. Exactly what I was in the mood for and exactly what I was looking for. I seriously love Sabrina Paige’s stepbrother romances. Her books never revolve around the fact that the main characters are connected by marriage. Yes, it’s there, it’s a part of the story, but there’s always other things going on that the characters have to deal with. And that’s what makes her stand out amongst all the mediocre stepbrother romance books I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot). I’m also a sucker for rock star/musician romances and I’m a sucker for military romances. So this book, combining both of those and the stepbrother theme, was the trifecta of the perfect book.

I’m not always a fan of the past to present format in books, but it totally worked here. Chapters would start off with a point in the past and then transition into the modern day story. I loved Addy and Hendrix. I loved their interactions, their chemistry, their personalities…they just made this book perfect.

Addy is country music’s IT GIRL. She’s the girl next door, America’s sweet heart…think Taylor Swift’s public image. But after Addy got caught up in some compromising photos (taken out of context), her overly controlling momager and step-father security specialist team up with Addy’s record label to try and control her and the nonexistent “situation”. That’s where Hendrix comes in. Fresh out of the Marines, he’s bored silly at a desk job. So his father decides he’d make the best bodyguard for Addy. Little do they know that there’s a past attraction between Addy and Hendrix and once they come together…chemistry up the wazoo!

I loved the time they spent together. There was a really sweet scene when Addy babysits for her nephew and the three of them spend the day together.

I think the scenes from the past helped establish the connection for the current day. Part of what I loved was that neither Addy or Hendrix were able to really let the other one go during their separation. One of my favorite “Awwwwwwwe” scenes was when they admitted to constantly thinking about the other.

I feel like my review doesn’t do this awesome book justice. Sabrina Paige is definitely one of my all time favorite authors and I can’t wait for her next book!

I didn't like this as much as I liked Prick....but I have to say I liked it more than Tool

Nothing has actually topped Stepbrother Dearest for me when it comes to these Stepbrother books. So I may have made a mistake when I reread that book just a few days ago. [actually i didn't because I love that book, but having read this almost right after? yeah.]

This was a good read....the main characters were likeable. The parents were totally self centered assholes....It wasn't in any way life changing but sometimes its nice to not read a book that makes you want to cry every other chapter. I have liked this 'series' and I hope Paige decides to continue with it.

“Being away from you is a million times worse.”

Cannon is a story about an ex-marine and a country singer in the spotlight, five years after they first met.

I had a hard time connecting with the characters first, with Hendrix and Addison. But once it was there, I felt every heartache and pain that they both have experience.

Usually I enjoyed the past-present timeline because it adds to mystery and excitement when I read, and somehow here, I actually enjoyed it at first. It was getting to know the younger Hendrix and Addy while going on with the present, of the feelings that the both of them are fighting because of morality, and fear of rejection from each other.

But, the timeline got a little distracting and irritating somehow, because it was so small the details that I could live without reading. And the turn of events was like a train wreck waiting to happen. I was actually surprised it didn’t happened earlier than my expectations because I was so like just waiting for it.

Other than that, I like their love story in some way. They were step siblings, but they met during their teenage years. They built a good friendship and bonding that I actually am excited of their journey.

But I didn’t like how it ended because there were some loose ends that are not acceptable to me. And it was so predictable at the end that my satisfaction while reading the story was already diminished.

This book has a different feel from the previous books in this series, it is more emotional and I think it was all the better for it. The main theme is the same, as well as, the back and forth bickering and the fighting forbidden desires based on the taboo nature of the relationship of being related, even though not by blood. I think the formula was getting a little stale, for me, but once the MC's finally got past their hang ups this story really flew by and I ended up really enjoying it. I always cheer for the underdogs in life, and the way both the MC's parents treated them had my hackles up...I love how it all played out.

Ok with the influx of so many step-brother romance books out there, it seems like it can get a bit tiring and overwhelming reading this forbidden genre taboo. But you know what, Sabrina Paige took her newest release Cannon and not only made a forbidden step-brother romance but she made it to have a deep emotional pull. Readers are given a glimpse of a romance where two people deeply cared for each other. There was no lust or desire that motivated Hendrix and Addy but a deep pull and connection of pure love. Ms. Paige takes her readers on an emotional journey that weaves the past and present so readers can get a better understanding of the dynamics and emotional vulnerabilities of Hendrix and Addy as they tried so hard to not cross the invisible line. They knew once they crossed that line, there is no turning back because it was a kind of love that you can't go back on but only move forward.

#Cannon1_sabrinaPaige

I think CANNON is a fitting title for this book once that emotional and physical cannonball is launched, there was no denying the explosive chemistry these two set off. What I found enjoyable about this book was the personal growth of the characters and them realizing to let go of the people tearing them down and to LIVE and LOVE the life they both desire and wanted. So if you are looking for a book with an emotional pull and yet that has the forbidden romance aspect then I would suggest you to give CANNON by Sabrina Paige a try.

I continue to enjoy these books by Sabrina Page. They are easy to read and they are quick to read. The writing is pretty decent but the characters do lack a bit of depth. They aren't unlikable characters just very simple.

This one was a little different from her previous step-brother romances (and Ms. Page is the first one to tell you so). The hero in this one is a former Marine and he has some issues from his time in Afghanistan. However, I felt that she could have gone into more depth with his story. You knew he had issues from his time there but it wasn't until near the end we got a sense of what happened (altho, at the beginning we did get a little bit when he did his nightly runs). I just felt something was missing from that aspect of the story.

However, despite that I enjoyed reading this book. As stated before Ms. Page books are pretty easy reads and don't require a great deal of thought. Her stories are good, the sex is hot and the heroes are always enticing.

I think I'll pick up some of her other books as well.

Addison Stone is America's sweetheart. Discovered at a young age, her singing career is at an all time high. With fame comes temptation to rebel, or so her record label think, after the gossip mags catch her out clubbing. But will the new bodyguard her mother & step-father have assigned, be able to keep her in check?

Hendrix 'Cannon' Cole is a damaged version of the arsehole he used to be. Spending the last 5 years in a war zone has made him grow up.
After leaving the Marines It's time to not only face the girl he's never forgotten, but it's his job to protect her, landing the job as her new bodyguard.

Addy and Hendrix left so much unsaid when they parted ways all those years ago. Any feelings they thought were buried, boil straight back up to the surface once their reunited. Both try to play it cool and brush the pull towards each other under the carpet, but sexual tension is high, feelings start to get more intense and soon its impossible to stop the inevitable.

I for one, Love this series. Sabrina Paige knows just how to write a cocky, mouthy, arsehole with just the right amount of sweet. Each book seems to get better and I loved the fact that this had a little more emotion to it.

This is a standalone told from duel POVs.

Loved this..Hendrick, the tattooed alpha hero, who has coveted his stepsister, Addy, for years.

Told in alternate POV, leaping from present day to their initial meeting and forwards, we are furnished with a story that not only turns up the humorous, and steamy dial, but has quite a poignant storyline, underpinning the scope of events.

This is such a great series, and I think if I was to hold up a favourite, it would be this one <3

This really wasn't what I was expecting when I first started this book. I mean I absolutely loved prick and tool so hard I just couldn't get enough of them so there was no doubt I was going to read this one.

But then I read the blurb and it just didn't have the same feel as the first 2 so I put it off and put it off until finally I caved.

I didn't not like this book I just didn't love it. For me personally it was missing the humour and warmth that the other two had that I really loved and wanted in this book. But take that out and I felt like I got a story about characters I just didn't manage to get as fully invested in.
But then maybe it's a case of its not you its me. Since I have come off a bender of Corps Security alphas and I really just wanted a little light and laughter and this really wasn't the book for it.

All that aside I can't wait to see if the amazing Sabrina brings us another sexy step brother to drool over.

I read the whole series and can say that I definitely like it. All three books were interesting with cool couples. Especially I like the third one:)) Read it, it contains a lot of funny moments and won't leave indifferent;)
