Chaotic Devices

Rate this book
Everything began with Chaos. Chaos created the universe and the gods. Chaos then created boundaries between worlds. These borders were placed across all of existence to prevent various forms of life from traveling to worlds, planets, and realms they were forbidden to exist on for countless reasons. Chaos tasked one of the gods with monitoring and defending the borders. This god searched for beings that had the potential to manipulate creation energy. These individuals became guardians, magic users and warriors who fight to keep the borders defended from anything and everything that crossed through them. Skye Kelly is a guardian. Monsters, magic and evil plots are a part of her everyday life, along with running a coffee shop and hanging out with her twin brother and her friends. When horrific creatures from another world start targeting guardians on Earth, it's up to Skye and her friends to unravel their evil scheme before it's too late

Writer and nerd. I love writing, reading, gaming, and drinking coffee. I like all kinds of genres but really love fantasy and sci-fi with a good mystery or suspense thrown in. I am addicted to old monster and horror movies, both good and bad. I can often be found playing video games or reading when I should be working on my own books.

Chaotic Devices is the excellent first book in the Chaos Guardians series by Sarah Eriksen.

Telling the story of a group of Guardians, young men and women chosen by Chaos to defend the Earth from numerous invading monsters, this is a great first work by a new author and one I really enjoyed.

Packed with amazing battle sequences and characters that you could see easily in a new, hit TV show, the premise of the book is easy to get into and holds your attention from the very beginning. I was especially intrigued by the glimpses of other guardians that appear sporadically throughout the story, something that definitely left me wanting to know more about them! Hopefully we’ll more in the sequel!

If you like your fantasy with plenty of action, great characters and a burgeoning mysteries that leave you asking lots of questions, this might just be the book for you!

Great read for Fantasy and Magic lovers!

Eriksen does a phenomenal job of setting up realistic characters/heroes in the sense that they aren't always saving the world from peril. They too have lives to live.

The heroes have great potential with a wide range of powers which I can't wait til see how they use in the books following this one.

Eriksen does a great job building a world, establishing favorable characters and keeping the reader turning the pages as well as creating believable heroes with powers.

This is a great read for Fantasy and Magic readers and ai highly recommend it!

This is a fun series from Sarah Erikson that combines fantasy and current day settings, with detailed descriptions of magic battles that evoke fireworks displays and great video game visuals. I quite enjoyed the plot, it is unique so it wasn't predictable as to how the story would unfurl. I look forward to the next book in this universe from this author.

What an awesome book! When two siblings realize early that They have been blessed (or cursed) with some crazy powers, they are contacted by Chaos, who is the God of all, and begin training to become guardians and fight against creatures that threaten our existence on a daily basis (unbeknownst to us, and thanks to the guardians). This story follows them as adults, trying to balance their guardian life of battles with their human life of coffee shops and playing in a band. Very creative, very well organized, and a great read.

I really enjoyed Skye. A girl in a male world who can kick some butt and still remain her normal sarcastic self. If you like sci-fi with aliens you can't pronounce and magic battles this book is for you.
