The Gray Tower Trilogy #1-3

The Gray Tower Trilogy

Rate this book
Three full-length bestselling fantasy novels in one collection: The Tower's Alchemist, Dark Rift, and Circadian Circle.

Be a spy. Save the world.
If only it were that simple.

The Nazis have unleashed occult forces throughout Europe, and the Allies are forced to recruit wizards to help them fight in the streets of Europe and in the shadows.

Among them is the battle weary spy, Isabella George, a Gray Tower dropout trained in Alchemy. Longing for retirement and a life of peace, she accepts one final job–extract a deadly warlock from Nazi occupied France and prevent him from unleashing an alchemical weapon that will devour the continent.

But France is crawling with the Cruenti, vampiric warlocks who feed off other wizards. When things don’t go according to plan, one Cruenti sets his deadly eyes on her.

Plans within plans. Plots versus counter-plots. Heists gone wrong, Vatican wizards, and the greatest manipulation of history that has ever been seen, is just a taste of what Isabella George is in for.

Fascinating

Brilliant blend of historical fiction and fantasy. The mix of WWII with magic is very well done. The characters are well fleshed. This would be a great book for high school students on up to adult readers.

Light weird war two

Good book I was kept captivated to finish. Not fully weird war two but it had some elements of vampires an black wolves plus spying in occupied France.

Wow! I was worried that this trilogy would disappoint but the ending to Book 3 saved it for me! The story and plot kept me engaged and continuously reading and the characters eventually grew on me. The writing didn't feel consistent to me, but I was able to overlook it for the most part. I loved how episodic the three books were, almost like I was reading three seasons with a certain number of episodes. I also feel that collecting all three books into a trilogy omnibus was the right move because it felt like one big story. I saw a twist coming at the end of Book 3, but not that twist. That's what I want and love most about reading and watching; predicting and knowing what may come next, but being surprised by what actually occurs and something else completely different unfolding. I really appreciate it when stories have apparent solid consequences and repercussions and bittersweet endings, especially when they create the illusion of a "happy" ending, but are they really? I hope and look forward to the first book becoming a movie, even though I think that it would be better as a TV series. I personally would like a follow-up or something detailing or explaining what happened to some of the other characters due to the twist happening. Overall, this was a pleasant surprise, and the author is now on my radar for future reading.

Decent story but a bit off...

Overall this trilogy is good but not exceptional. The characters seemed too modern though the main story was taking place in the 1940s. I also found it rather hard to accept that the author had some of her characters "smoking" mint juleps! Seriously? If I could give 3.5 stars for this I would but I can't give it 4.

Despite the issues I had with style and content, the plot was good, there was a lot of action, and the story moved right along. The ending had a nice twist which I didn't really see coming so that's a plus. Oh dang, I just talked myself into giving these stories 4 stars....

I love this trilogy so much! I got captivated from the start and couldn't put it down until the end. The story is interesting and even more so because it mixes a magic world with our History. I love the possibility of something different this way. The main character is strong and not whiny even though she goes through some very unpleasant adventures. I could relate to her and it made me feel good. The books are filled with action throughout and I didn't want it to end. Overall a great read that I'd look forward to read again!

I didn't really read the entire trilogy. I barely made it through Book 1. I found the story lacking in detail and interest. The magic is minimally explained, and left me with lots of questions, which soon led to disinterest. I kept reading, thinking that it would get better. It didn't. I guess the heroine is supposed to be likeable, but there is nothing that makes her so. We don't get to know her. What is she thinking? Why? I won't be reading books 2 and 3.

Excellent series!

Refreshing premise well executed! Interesting and multifaceted characters with great character development and a good but more realistic ending than a perfect happily-ever-after.
Well worth the read.

I loved the premise but found the story to be lacking. I did read them all but it wasn't a favorite.

Exciting

I enjoyed traveling on the adventures with Whatsernamenow. Her character, although frustrating at times, was relatable and her situations were well developed

A good read!

I loved having a strong women main character that was real with fears and worries that made the workings of the story eventful. It was fun to leave the everyday world into a ever moving fantasy. The end gave me back my world at a time I didn't want the story to end.
