Omega Uncaged: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse

Rate this book
The best way to get over a dead mate is to bite a new one.
That’s the theory, at least - and it’s what gets me sent to the Lawson Pack, an elite military unit still grieving Charlie, the omega mate they lost on a mission a year ago.
The cover story is that I’m Charlie’s estranged sister, Birdie. Barefoot, bruised, and desperate, I give his alphas no choice but to bring me back to their remote mountain cabin, even though they can barely take care of themselves.
Axel, Colt, and Hog are a mess, but I’m not complaining. A broken pack is far easier to escape than a healthy one, and once the snow clears, I plan to put as much distance between us as I can.
Not that their version of caretaking is all bad. Axel, as pack alpha, can’t help but try to fix me with his bossy, gung-ho attitude. Colt’s pretty smirk and dirty mouth are both annoying as hell and impossible to ignore, but it’s Hog, a three-hundred-pound antisocial sniper, who really takes me by surprise. Who knew that home could smell like hickory smoke rising off a winter fire?
But the twisted doctor who sent me to their pack has a secret agenda. He doesn’t want me to heal them; he wants me to blow their world apart. I thought I was the glue, but when my heat hits, we discover that I’m the poison.
Now I need to escape more than ever. But the Lawson Pack won’t let me go without a fight - and for the first time in my life, I’m not sure I want to run at all.
Omega Uncaged is a standalone omegaverse. There are NO shifters in this book, but there are tropes of hurt/comfort, forced proximity, surprise scent match, first ever nest, and knots, bites, and bonds. Check the TWs in the Author's Note.

Omega Uncaged is a standalone why choose omegaverse romance about Birdie, who is sent to “fix” three military alphas grieving the omega they lost. I previously beta read this book, and I loved it just as much the second time. I received an advance review copy and my thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to the author for the eARC.

What to expect:
✨ Why choose (mfmm)
✨ Grieving established pack
✨ Military alpha
✨ Hate to love
✨ First nest
✨ Hurt/comfort
✨ Forced proximity
✨ Scent match
✨ Weaponized heat
✨ Mute FMC (trauma)

Rating: 5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Nicknames: Baggage, Sweetheart, Omega

The Lovely: The emotional punch of this book got me all over again. Birdie and the alphas are coming from different kinds of hurt, and I loved watching their relationships develop through the moments when they began to understand and care for one another. The interactions between Birdie and Hog were my favorite. There was something about the way they connected that had me completely invested. The hurt/comfort and tenderness meant a lot given what the characters had been through.

Recommendation: I loved getting to revisit Birdie and her pack, and that their story was complete in one book. If you’re in the mood for an emotional, dark omegaverse romance with a grieving pack, plenty of hurt/comfort and a standalone HEA, I think you would love this book.

WITSEC meets Pack Darling, except there’s no bullying, but it has all the revenge arc!!!

One of the best omegaverse stories I’ve read in a while. The characters are all great, but I especially loved the heroine. She is fierce and survived atrocities most people would never survive!!

We were supposed to have a traumatized yet feisty omega and a group of alpha MMCs who are dealing with the loss of their bonded omega, and yet, everything lacked the substance that it should have had. The characters were all just so bland. The personalities were all unique enough to keep from blending together (it also helped that the MMCs didn't get very many of their own chapters.) But they all just felt like not enough.

Birdie's personality really felt lack luster. She went through so much trauma but it never really seemed to matter once she got the least bit interested in Hog. I did like Hog as a character. He was just the gentle giant of the group. He also seemed to have the most work put into his character building.

The pacing was a little slow. It wasn't really helped by the multiple chapter length heat cycle that I just couldn't care about. The characters kept me from having any real interest in their romance or the smut. It was okay but I'm finding that Collins is not an omegaverse author I prefer.

Hellish landscape

A wonderful why-choose Omegaverse.

It starts off in a very impactful way that immediately pulled me into the story and had me feeling genuinely outraged.
There are some truly despicable people, which makes me think—or, rather, hope—for karma.

This is a dark story, so it might be a good idea to have a look at the TWs beforehand.

We have a story that broke my heart, both because of everything our FMC has to endure—which is a lot—and because of our MMCs’ broken hearts.
But it also gives us hope and justice.

Our FMC is a survivor, the kind of person with a truly strong soul and a spirit that refuses to bend, even after everything she’s been through.
For me, she’s a force of nature, a pure soul who has been living through a nightmare, yet she never gives up fighting for her freedom.

And there is still so much in store for her, because no one deserves to be happy more than her.

Our MMCs never expected her to come into their lives, and she certainly never expected to have them in hers.

But not everything is suffering—let’s not forget all the hilarious moments thanks to our MCs’ absolutely fantastic personalities, as well as all the steamy moments.

WOW Roxy you have done it again!
A pack of 3 Alphas grieving from losing their mate. A mate scent matched to Axel who is the leader. Then Birdie an omega who has been held and abused and traumatized from an evil doctor now sold to the Military Boss to then be given to the pack who is grieving to try and get them ready for work again. Talk about DRAMA !!!! This omega who couldn’t even talk and was mute due to a weapon in her scent gland 🥹🤯 was discovered as a scent match to Haven (HOG) the alpha who never felt loved or wanted and people were often afraid due to his size. Colt the almost alcoholic who loved being an A**hole quickly turned himself around and his flirty banter came flooding through. I LOVED seeing the entire pack heal from so much trauma and get their revenge so they can move on and live a much simpler life. This book has plenty of spice, banter and suspense to keep you wanting more. 🫶🏼♥️🥵

I was so excited to receive an ARC of Omega Uncaged. I have loved many Roxy Collins books enough to purchase, and this book has jumped to the top of the list as a favorite.

I LOVED this book! It was deliciously angsty and made me tear up quite a few times - something I often look for in a read.

I liked that the author was realistic about Birdie’s trauma, and made her journey towards trusting the guys a slow one. Birdie had no one to trust or rely on, but kept herself moving forward through so many terrible situations out of her control just by sheer will and inner strength. I appreciated that each of our main characters had distinct voices, trauma, and personalities. I especially loved Hog’s quiet, steadfast loyalty and unconditional love.

I just finished this book, and writing the review already has me chomping at the bit for a reread. I highly recommend!

I loved Omega Uncaged so much! I can never get enough of hurt/comfort and Birdie’s story has it in spades. Birdie’s experiences and Pack Lawson’s grief were gut-wrenching and had me emotionally invested from the first chapter. The darkness was lingering like an ominous cloud and every time a little bit of sunshine may have cleared things up, Birdie’s walls were reinforced. Because of Birdie’s conditioning and the strength of her walls, it’s quite a slow burn romance and I found myself wishing for relationship progression and more connection with each member of the Pack. The undeniable chemistry and tension was delicious and I thrived in the ongoing angst. I loved these characters so much, I will always wish for more from them!

She did it again!

Roxy always seems to hit the spot! She draws you in, pulls the heart strings, and then puts you back together again!

Loved:
☆ the characters
☆ the plot
☆ the spice
☆ the romance
☆ the ending

Hate:
¤ that it ended haha!

This story really draws you in straight away, there's some action but it's mostly the dynamics and relationships and healing of all the characters but mostly Hog and Birdie aka Haven and Juliett !

My only negative would be a few typos and I wish we got to see more of Colt and Axel understand how things had been for Hog. I could have read 2 books with them all!

I love Birdie and her pack of broken alphas. Birdie goes through so much trauma, its so sad the evil she has to endure. I love the guys each on their own, Colt I think is my favorite, because I love the banter between him and Birdie. Also he is so sweet. Even in his early drunken heartbreak is so sweet, although when it seemed slightly darkish I thought no he can't be a mean alpha. Hog is just yum, and Alex yes please. Lots of trauma. Lots of action. So much steam. Great world building and wonderful characters! I do hope something else comes out of this world. I think this story is amazing, but I just felt Jonathan and Lettie could be best friends. It felt like since he wanted to meet her so bad that they need more than the 5 minutes on the beach. It could be a cozy lil story for Christmas or something, yeah that's it😁

They say if you love something set them free and if they come back to you it's meant to be unless your name is Birdy and she's always trying to get away, After the trauma she's endured she doesn’t trust antics not even the the men she was sent to.
HOG ( i adore him!!), Colt, and last bit not least Axel are just as wary the woman they get sent.
This story grips the feels and drags them through the darkens, before you're coaxed into the love and light.
It's going to stick with me, that's for sure

Inadvertent captors to lovers

When the pack finds a barefoot, mute omega left for them at the train station, they mistake her trauma for drug withdrawal, and start on a rough note.

But Birdie wasn’t an addict, she was a Trojan horse — experimented on by a sadistic doctor, she’s been placed by the military to try to fix their shattered pack after the death of their mate.

All she wants to do is escape, but she is snowed in with three men who smell surprisingly tempting…

Roxy made another incredible omegaverse! The beginning of the book is very much enemies but as you keep reading you understand the trauma everyone has gone through. The heat scene is spicy but the guys are also so sweet to help her build her first nest. Highly recommend reading this book!

Tropes:
MFMM, hurt/comfort, mute fmc (trauma), enemies to lovers, surprise scent match, forced proximity, weaponized heats, first ever nest, knots, bites, and bonds

I really enjoyed this one! The angst, secrets, tension, and messy pack dynamic kept me hooked, and Birdie absolutely had my heart.

I loved watching everything slowly unfold between her, Axel, Colt, and Hog. There were a few small parts that confused me a little, but nothing major enough to take away from the story.

Emotional, addictive, messy in the best way, and definitely a fun read.

I was sat for this book the moment it was announced!! It’s no secret that I love a Roxy Collins omegaverse novel, but this might just be my (second) favourite so far! I am a sucker for angst, my heart broke for poor Birdie, not to mention Axel, Hog and Colt still mourning the loss of their omega. The secrets, the constant, looming threat of discovery (betrayal) hanging like the sword of Damocles! Just delicious!

Plus, I do love how these alphas were so obsessed, right from the start (even if certain members were strongly in the land of denial). Did they screw up? Yes. Did Birdie make it easy for them? No. But they knew, somewhere deep down, they were fighting for a good thing, the most important thing – Birdie, and it was so worth it!

Loved this so much!!

A very genrous 4 stars! The story starts in a very dark place and everyone is (rightfully) deep in trauma. In the first quarter, I was very apprehensive about the story, but slowly the tide turned as information was revealed and shared between the characters. Hog, one of the MMCs, was the star of this show! Truly, he's one of the best alphas ever written. I really appreciated that there was discussion about Charlie (the pack's deceased omega) but it never felt like a comparison between him and Birdie. If you like hurt/comfort and caretaking then this is a must read omegaverse.

***And don't be worried: the bad guys get what's coming to them and people (ahem, Axel) apologize for their mistakes.

Omega Uncaged by Roxy Collins is an emotional ride! And I loved it. Birdie has been living a hard life, not by her choice, but she still is one strong, smart Omega. The pack she is sent to has their own issues. Great story. Loved it.

ARC Review

A fantastic dark to sweet reverse harem omegaverse romance!

Sold to a military doctor by her militia stepfather she spent months being experimented on, and now the doctor is selling her to a mission. A general’s best military pack have been lost in their grief and fracturing after the death of their omega, the doctor is offering up his tortured subject to give them a common goal : heal the traumatized omega. Although she knows the deception behind the mission, she can’t say a word with the speech inhibitor implanted in her scent gland, it will shock her almost anytime she makes a sound. Foisted upon the grieving pack under the disguise of their dead omega’s sister she’s now stuck with the pack in their isolated mountain cabin.

This omega FMC had been through so much darkness in her life so far and it doesn’t seem like there’s any chance of things better. Until she ends up with this grieving pack, this is her way out of the laboratory and an opportunity to make a run for it and disappear into the world. The pack takes her in begrudgingly and aren’t welcoming to her presence, but there is one that soften her defences and she can’t deny the others do smell nice unlike all the other alphas she’s ever encountered.

The alphas are struggling greatly with the loss of their omega and the destruction it caused and the havoc it continues to wreak in their bonds. They’re all dealing with their pain in different ways, but not in any ways that are healthy. Their new guest does shake things up, but not in any way that seems to be bringing them together.

Things get steamy immediately with one of the MMCs when he finds the new guest in their cabin. It’s a lot of steamy starts and stops as the MMCs find themselves being pulled towards the mute FMC in various ways. Some connections are acted on faster than others, but every relationship forms differently and at different speeds before we get to the really spicy moments. There is a lot of wonderful tension and yearning, along with so much sweetness and devotion that also builds over time.

To contrast, we get a lot of dark and traumatic subjects brought up in this book, so make sure to check your triggers. The omega has been sent to the pack in order to give them a common goal and bring them all together, but she was never one to follow orders and her intent is to get away from anything that has to do with the military lab and doctor. The pack’s only intent is to give her a place to stay for a few days before sending her on her way after the snowstorm passes, just as she wants. Yet, she’s learned that she can’t trust anyone and knows she needs to run, as truths are revealed they force her hand and her past collides with the present.

I really enjoyed both the romance plot and the darker subplot in this book, it was the ideal unravelling. The romance was steamy, but the relationships were a slow burn, building until we got the spice of both of them colliding. The slow progressing subplot of the mystery of this new omega in their midst was beautifully interwoven, I’m so happy with how things were revealed.

There were a few times when I felt that characters actions or thoughts contradicted themselves from previous intent, but they quickly revert back to their baseline. Otherwise I absolutely adored all of the MCs and their growth seemed entirely natural, with setbacks and moments of uncertainty. The exciting climax was only from one POV, but I can’t complain as I did get the satisfying result I wanted.

The epilogue was so delightful and sweet, while also fleshing out even more of what resulted from the actions of the climax and of the future this pack had been living. I’m so happy we got a glimpse into the HEA of these amazing MCs!

Thank you to the author and BookFunnel for providing me with this ARC!

Roxy has this ability to write books that give you so much character development, those beautiful moments where the characters realise, who they love, what happened, how they are hurting, like all of it. It's very hard to explain but these characters she writes, they have been through so much, and even tho it's fiction, things happen. These books show the aftermath. And yes for me it does go that deep with Roxy's books.

Birdie has been through a lot and by a lot i mean so much that it's insane how she hasn't given up yet. She is so fierce, still fighting, in whatever situation she is in, she will fight, however she can. The trauma she has lived with for so long and for then to come into a pack that is dealing with imense grief. It was hard, they were all struggling. But the beauty of this story is that they let birdie find herself, they give her the time, the space, because she grew up with no choices, until she gets with the Lawson pack and it was so beautiful to read about.

The men were such strong grown men. The way they gave her space, let her find herself. The way they communicated with her. How they didn't give up but also weren't invasive with it. Hog broke my heart with his past. Not feeling wanted as much as the other two. Oh poor baby, thank god for Birdie! He deserves everything and so much more! Colt, the playboy, evey going one of the bunch, also had some things to deal with and i love how Birdie included him. Actually all three of them men included eachother, and i loved it. Their bond is so strong and beautiful. But Axel, my man, my heart, my moon, my everything. This man! This man! This man, he was so respectful, so charming, even when he was at his most stubborn or in military mode. This man gave birdie her choices back AND HOW.

I’m not sure how Roxy does it, but she manages to make a book dark but never so dark that it doesn’t somehow also feel cozy and this was exactly that. I felt so much sympathy not just for Birdie and the horrors and loss she experienced but also for her guys. I’ve read only one other book I can think of where the alphas lost their omega and I did not like how one in particular handled the fmc. I’m wary in general of dead mate/wife/girlfriend tropes but was pleasantly surprised with Roxy’s take on it! They didn’t make her feel like she was replacing Charlie or competing with a ghost.

Hog is yummy. I would love this book because of him alone but luckily, Colt and Axel are pretty great, too. This is marketed as enemies to lovers but it’s like a light version and it’s more so that both sides are hurting so much they’re unable to let their walls down and even that doesn’t last that long.

I enjoyed reading the character growth that all the guys and Birdie show and the emotional depth in their story.

As a sidenote, kudos to Roxy for seamlessly including so much military jargon!

I think I might be just a little biased because Roxy Collins is one of my favorite authors at this point, but this was another hit for me and I’d recommend to anyone looking for:
🖤traumatized fmc
🖤hurt/comfort
🖤emotionally wounded men
🖤a tough fmc (who can still be soft)
🖤and a gentle giant MMC

I’d love Omega Uncaged even if it wasn’t an omegaverse and that’s how I know the writing is good 🙌🏼
