Owning a Spacebar #1–6 omnibus

Spacebar: The Complete Series

Rate this book
Carson Flint left the Commonwealth's wars behind for the quiet life of running a saloon on the edge of nowhere.

The Bulwark sits on Castus, the last neutral ground in a galaxy that tore itself apart. Smugglers, refugees, and war-weary soldiers drift through its doors, and Carson keeps his corner of it calm by staying out of everyone else's business.

Then a dying man stumbles in carrying a secret worth killing for.

The stranger came out of Commonwealth service, hunted across the stars, holding something the Thortan warlords will level a settlement to reclaim. When their guns reach Castus, neutrality means nothing, and the Bulwark stands between a ruthless militia and a discovery that could reshape a galaxy.

Carson only wanted a quiet life. But some doors, once opened, pull you toward the adventure of a lifetime.

Good story, bad proofer

I love John's stories. But, please, can someone learn to proof read! Typos, unfinished sentences, gender switch from one sentence to the next, and the original sentence mixed with the updated one. It makes it very hard to read. I have a hard time comprehending some of the scenes, I don't want to quit the book but I struggle not to throw it away. It's that bad. Again, the story is great. If you can get through all the mistakes, 5 or more a chapter, then do it.

Dragging Plot

I love the writing of John Walker, but about 2/3 rd’s of the way thru, the writing stalled and I wasn’t sure I was going to complete the series. The characters are outstanding and the scene settings are solid. It’s just the plot starts dragging.

Seeious

Fine big adventures with many fallible humans being heroic and vile; some at nearly the same time. Worth the time.

The last book was the most exciting with assassinations and and saving the day all the way, I did think the ending was a bit weak
