I broke my own rule with this book which is to never read an unfinished series…but the pull toward this books just made me take a chance and I’m so happy I did. This was definitely a work of art. I’m sure readers will be conflicted on whether these two should make it work which will make for great book club discussions.
Let’s start with the FMC, Fatima. A business owner with gray eyes and looks that command attention. She comes from a two parent home with a beautiful family full of cultural richness that made me wish there were some graphics to go along with this book. From the outside it would appear that she has it all together but there is some family and relationship trauma there that shows through her insecurities and reluctance to start a family of her own. At times Fatima walks a fine line between naive and downright “girl are you dumb”. I found myself screaming at her like girl, he might be a little touched but that’s a good man Savannah!
The MMC, James will 100% be misunderstood but all my dark romance lovers will love him. I honestly thought he was some type of kingpin until the last few pages of this book. He has this darkness to him that can’t be explained in a review. I can understand why Fatima is losing her mind. He’s 10 steps ahead of everyone at all times and I’m betting he knew who Fatima was well before she signed her lease. He’s for sure a red flag but chile who cares 😂 That’s what fictional book baes are for! In real life, call 911 sis!
This was very spicy but the plot is there. The spicy times are actually important because that’s where you’ll start judging James. I’ll stick beside him though lol.
I’m looking forward to the next book! I honestly think there is so much more to explore. Great job 👏🏾
Gently Taps Screen Author K. Leanette why you do me like this 🤦🏾♀️
Book 2 takes a deep dive into the complicated man that James is. His ability to be guarded and insensitive while showering Fatima with love and affection.
It also had me questioning Fatima and her insecurities. At some point in the book, it felt like she wanted the perception and not the reality version of James.
Leanette answered 2 major questions in Book 2 (1) Anthony & (2) James moments of rough Intimacy… but there are still a lot of unanswered questions which I’m hoping will be answered in book 3.
BUT FOR NOW I’m going to have an attitude with people because some author (cough Leanette cough) just dropped me off in DC without a metro card
