The Shattered Veil - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

I cannot praise Ernest Dempsey highly enough - his Gideon Wolf novels, (and his others) grip me firmly by the imagination from the start, every single time.
The scenes in the run-up to the denouement reminded me of the final scenes in the original Ghostbusters film, [where an ancient Sumerian being is able to manifest on Earth and has to be destroyed by determined adversaries...though in a more serious vein]. Being able to clearly visualise the various locations that Gideon and Xolotyl ventured into, (especially the chamber scenes) added an extra layer of tension and excitement that made me feel present as the danger mounted exponentially.

The thought of a malign organisation's intent that might still persist to this day made my spine tingle, and I really liked the way his internal dialogue both with himself and Xolotyl framed the course of this epic. The way his friends supported him, whatever it cost them was really heartwarming too.

Don't miss The Shattered Veil...it's an all-action thriller you're sure to enjoy - and appreciate the 'what if...?' message of!

This is one of the darkest and intense books in the series so far.
It had me on tender hooks from the very beginning to the heartstopping end.

They have observed him from a distance, learning his habits and the small details that make a difference.
The problem is that Gideon doesn't know who is watching and masterminding his every move.

On paper Gen Tech is an biotech company that has huge credibility, but Dr Gideon Wolf knows that something isn't quite as it seems.

After extensive Intel and let's just say a 'helpful ' guard gets Gideon into the biotech facility, Gideon was expecting a full weapons programme to be up and running, but all he got was his own death warrant!

An sacred symbol, a mystery that he doesn't know how to solve and that leads him to the ancient Ignis Custodium that can possibly turn every human against each other.

How can Gideon not just defend himself and the rest of the guardians without risking the whole of humanity?

The best installment in the Gideon Wolfe series.
A high-stakes Gideon Wolfe installment that maintained significant suspense and pacing. I've been reading the Gideon Wolfe books since the beginning, and this latest in the series is quite the tale.
It didn't just keep me engaged it kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out if Gideon was going to accomplish what he was setting out to accomplish or if this might be the end for Gideon Wolfe.
As far as whether he was successful or not well, let's just say that this book kept me on the edge of my seat and awake late into the evening or into the night as I wandered through Europe with Gideon Wolfe.

Another intriguing book that is full of surprises for Gideon and all the Guardians as they try once again to stop evil from invading the world and wrecking more havoc. The twists and turns make you question how and what is going to happen next!

This Gideon adventure was quite divergent then the past and actually kept you reading until the end. Wondering what was taking possession of Gideon and his medal companion that intriguing. Book was a little wordy was all in all a gif read.

The story was good but to much bla, bla, bla. Some of the chapters I just skipped over because it was the same bla, bla. Don't take this wrong but it sound like reading something a person on cocaine was writing.

Unbelievable but compelling

The story is so ludicrous that I almost didn't start to read it. However, after the first few pages I was hooked and found it difficult to stop reading. When I finally finished it I am hoping that the story will continue in a further book or books.

rollercoaster of acts and things to consider, some pure evil, others just make your skin crawl like you know there's a spider somewhere but where?!? And what a cliffhanger! Absolutely unputdownable! Really makes you take a second look at the world around you!

Different

I read all the other books and they were pretty good. This was a little different it was hard to get into it. Kind of complicated maybe a little of hand. Took me longer to read.

Excellent book, though I have to admit some of the terms Dempsey used were a little esoteric. I had to lookup one word over and over to understand exactly what was meant by the term. Not reveling the word as it will give up the story too soon. The story actually revolves around the word.

excellent

This series keeps getting better and better. Best one yet!. Waiting impatiently for the next. Good direction Jack is going in and good updating off Jesse’s character.

I didn’t enjoy the book

I’m sorry I really didn’t enjoy this book. It was too slow for me. I do like Ernest Dempsey’s books, just not this one.
