I'm just a mom trying to raise a daughter to loudly speak up for those whose voices may not carry at the same volume, and to never lose her spark in a world designed to dim it.
I have always been pulled to creative arts and believe words hold power. My stories feature character-driven fantasy that reflect the current state of reality. Themes of trauma, female rage, and oppression are explored in most of my writing, and trigger warnings are always listed. But, I balance dark topics with the light, and my writing is never without love, resilience, and change.
I currently reside in the northeast with my daughter, husband, dog, and two very judgmental cats. I can often be found exploring forests to search for creatures not of this realm, and to pick out the best spot to build a hut so I can become the local witch of the woods.

What. Was. That!!!! OMG this book was fantastic!!
I have nothing but good things to stay about this book. What a refreshing Romantasy story with the main characters being over 30. I loved that Rory is a mom and seeing the love, devotion and what a parent will sacrifice for the safety of their child.
I loved this world the book is set in. Demigods and Humans, just like in the human world the Demi gods are separated by class but the demigods religion is used has a weapon if you don’t conform to their beliefs.
The magic system, fabulous.
If you want a true slow burn, you have it with this book. Although there are some spicy parts in the book there isn’t any between the love interests. Don’t worry though because there is enough longing and forbidden love happening that you won’t miss the spice.
I want to say so much more but I’m afraid I will spoil too much, but I will leave you with this…the last chapters had me gasping, they were hard to read. That ending can go and pound salt, how dare the author leave me hanging like that.

This was 6 stars...hands down one of the best books I've read this year. I read this in about 24 hours. I INHALED this story.
There are certain signs, for me, that a book is absolutely amazing. This book hit all those points for me!
-I was completely immersed in the world building. Leah's writing is well thought out, descriptive, and I easily pictured the entire world, like a movie playing out in my mind.
-Rory, the main character, is so relatable. I found myself immediately drawn to her, how she interacts with others and her child, Cora. If you are a mother, you will find this is easy to do. Leah wrote so beautifully what it means and how it feels to be a mother. The sacrifices you are willing to make to keep your child safe and happy. I loved Rory so much! She is fierce, strong, graceful, willing to jump into a dangerous situation for those who are in need, or for those she loves. I loved how she was so human in a world full on non-humans. There was a gentle, beautiful vulnerability to her, that showed through on every page. I saw myself in her.
-I couldn't put this book down! I was completely sucked in. I kept picking the book up, whenever I could, even if it was just for 5 minutes to read a few pages. I had to know what was happening next!
-The pacing of this was perfection. It is well thought out pacing, and the plot was moving forward swiftly. There is never a dull moment throughout.
-The villain...Leah can write a damn good villain! I was weary of said villain when they first showed up on page, but they only got worse throughout. She set up this person's story line in a way to just absolutely has you hating them by the end.
-The ending of this book was mind blowing. There are so many twists and turns all throughout that I was not expecting or prepared for. She leaves you on a cliffhanger, and with so many questions. Even days after reading this, my mind is still reeling and trying to come up with the answers! I feel as if we have only just dipped our toe into what this world and story could be. There are so many layers all throughout the plot and with the characters. I cannot wait to read more.
-This book has made an imprint on me. I am still thinking about it and will continue to think about it. To me, a great book is one that stays with you, and the characters live on in your head.
-I loved how Darragh immediately saw Rory, and it felt like he understood her on a deeper level from the beginning. He was great at reading her and letting her speak her mind. His gentleness toward her was beautiful. Rory was protective over Darragh, and I loved how she disregarded the warnings about him and stuck up for him when everyone else was prejudiced against him.
-There are some difficult situations in this regarding SA and trauma, and Leah handled those with grace.
-This is a TRUE slow burn with yearning and tension that really grabs onto you and has you waiting with bated breath with every interaction. And there is a one-horse situation...need I say more??
Please add this to your tbr! You will not be disappointed!

I am shocked. 😱 That ending was not what I was expecting and my jaw was on the floor. Leah takes us on a wild journey in this book and I AM HERE FOR IT 👏🏽👏🏽
We follow our FMC, Rory, from the very beginning of the book we see how her relationship with her mother has never been easy. Rory never liked the life of nobility and being a docile woman her mother always wanted her to be. She has fire in her spirit and likes to speak her mind. So she runs away from that life with her daughter Cora, to start something new for the both of them. After a few years of peace, Rory finds herself needing to leave with her daughter, and they end up entering a different kingdom with Siraphs and different species. This is where we meet, Gabriel, the brother to the king. He gives Rory and Cora shelter until they can figure out how to get her back through the barrier into her own land. I knew from the moment we met him, that I wasn't going to like him.
Rory is strong and very protective of her daughter, as she should be, and you see the love and sacrifice that Rory has gone through to keep her daughter safe. Rory uses logic and common sense throughout the book which really made me love her more.
Our MMC, Darragh the Captain of the KingsGuard. 'A merciless killer and gentle protector.' Darragh has the reputation of being untrustworthy and dangerous. He gets assigned to protect Rory and the way their relationship starts was honestly so cute for me. He always knew when she was uncomfortable and tried to ease her in the ways that he could. He paid attention to her and her reactions and was always there to save her from harm. He understood her. THE YEARNING BETWEEN THEM 🤌🏽🤌🏽 Rory saw how similar their stories were being the 'blacksheep' to their people.
The corrupt religion, the feminine rage, and motherly love was what captivated me. I wanted to find out what was going on and how it was all going to be played out. There's a lot of twists and turns, it left me with a lot of questions, some answered throughout the book and some I know that will be answered in the next. Literally my expressions throughout this read was all over the place. 👀😱😤😳😬😫 Nothing is quite as it seems.
I fear that if I try to say more, i might spoil it and I do not want to do that to you all. You 👏🏽 HAVE 👏🏽 TO 👏🏽 READ 👏🏽 THIS 👏🏽 BOOK👏🏽

Aurora, or Rory, has always known a life set by rules and standards of nobility. She left that life behind to fall in love and raise a daughter. When the father of her daughter, Cora, leaves with a short note, she is forced back into that noble world. Her mother imparts many rules on her that she must follow, when she goes so far as to push those ideals on Cora, Rory knows they must leave once more. The human world and seraph (fae) world is separated by a barrier, when Rory and Cora fall through that barrier, their whole lives change. This book starts off dark immediately. You can feel the suffocation. The desperation of a new mom needing to choose between some form of freedom or joy and providing security for her newborn daughter.
So many struggles that come with being a woman and it is so relatable. Needing to pretend, needing to be meek, needing to conform, all to save ourselves or save our children. Until you feel like you are going to explode or scream and scream. Needing to wear certain clothes to fit in or make a statement.
The FMC is witty and so human. The same fears and struggles I battle with every single day. She is so relatable.
The MMC made my heart beat faster IMMEDIATELY.
Plot twists SJ Maas would be proud of!!
There was not a lot of action but I did not need the crazy action. For me it was all in Rory’s struggles, internal and external, the struggles of being a woman, of being expected to be a certain way. That was enough. That was more than any physical battle or action, because that is so real and something we struggle with every day.
It has taken me days to process my feelings. It may be because I am a mom, but I think there are themes throughout that could speak to any form of minority, as well as being a woman, being a man, being a human. Leah managed to perfectly grasp the struggles that come with life and society as a whole in such a captivating, real, heartbreaking way that I am absolutely blown away.
This is not just a fantasy story. This is a testament to life and to wanting more, to fighting, to standing up, to putting your foot down, to being more than everyone thinks, to caring and living behind the scenes, softly, where it matters.
I will read anything Leah writes and I am so very honoured to have been part of Leah’s ARC team. This book and Leah deserve all the recognition, because this is so much more than just a fairytale. This is a movement and a statement screaming, whispering, standing firm: I will not be silenced, I will not be overlooked, I will protect what is mine.
I am unequivocally and thoroughly a fan.

For readers who love a dark romantasy with a TRUE slow burn.
This is the first book in the Hallowed Heretic series. This book has demigods vs humans, weaponized religion, classism, female rage and forced proximity.
I absolutely and instantly clicked with Aurora, our fiercely strong fmc who would do anything to protect her daughter and give her the life she deserves. (Oh hell yeah, we get a mom protagonist who isn't just written off to the side because hello, having kids doesn't mean your automatically boring and unable to maintain main character status. Mother fmcs are so severely underrepresented but I love them so so much! But anyways, I digress)
This book also touches on some heavy but very real topics with trauma and survival, and it shines a light on these situations that women find themselves in but I really appreciate the lengths Aurora goes to protect her child. (As always, protect your mental health and check those triggers babes)
I am of course already attached to some of the characters there are also some characters that I'm ready to swing a bat at. (IYKYK) With forbidden love, a morally grey mmc, heavy yearning and the ever reliable one horse, this book I literally finished in about 8 hours. Did I mention the MC's are over 30? (We love that) And the ENDING?! Please, I wasn't done reading!! Send me more pages STAR!! 😫🙌 This book INSTANTLY became one of my top reads and a fast favorite and I am begging Leah to give me book two by like tomorrow because I need to go back! I need answers! I am incredibly obsessed with this story. 🔥

Really great debut by this author. It’s always a bit interesting when you read a new author the first time. There’s a little hesitancy because it’s unknown, but Leah definitely delivered with book one of this trilogy!
As a mom, I felt for Aurora. There’s nothing a mom wouldn’t do for their child, including sacrificing themselves. Her priority, no matter the circumstance, remained Cora’s well-being.
Rory tried so hard to escape the oppressive and contradictory nature of noble-life in her realm, only to be thrust back into it in a different one. Inside a land with unknown people and customs, she slipped on a mask she knew well, despite her desire to shed it for good. Playing the part she was raised to play, until she no longer could.
It is unfortunate she had to encounter people that offered her trust, only for it to turn out to be a ruse of their own… I’m looking at you, Gabriel.
I only hope the connection she was forming with Darragh wasn’t just another ruse.

Mother to mother, the wellbeing and safety of our children is the most important thing.
Rory, the FMC, embodies that truth. Desperate to protect her young daughter, she flees the oppression of the rigid noble expectations imposed by her own mother. During yet another escape, Rory and her daughter accidentally breach the barrier separating humans from the seraphs, becoming trapped on the other side.
Reluctantly accepting the kindness and generosity of the Seraph Prince, Rory is forced to don the mask of nobility once more while taking refuge in the castle. There, her daughter is welcomed into lessons and activities alongside the royal children, giving her the chance to simply be a child in safety. But all is not as it seems.

With tropes like mom protagonist, feminine rage, and characters over 30, I couldn't sign up for this ARC fast enough. I had a feeling it was going to be something special, and it absolutely delivered.

Rory is in her 30's and has survived. SURVIVED. This woman is resilient as all get out and even after all of the obstacles she's overcome she somehow manages to remain optimistic. I loved how she consistently referred to how Clotha, the goddess of fate, had woven her destiny and the twists and turns were for good reason.

Well... this book unlocked a level of female rage I wasn't prepared for. I genuinely wanted to scream at the MMC and that entitled piece of royalty. Honestly, they both deserved a throat punch. 🤷♀️

After being abandoned by the only love she’s known, Aurora is forced to return home for her child’s sake. In doing so she is forgoing any freedom she once had, but after 6 years she is unable to stand being in her mother’s clutches any longer. She flees with her daughter setting up a quaint life for them, but her mother doesn’t plan on letting her go. Through a series of unfortunate events they find themselves over the boundary into unknown territory, navigating this new and scary land.
It was so refreshing to read of an older FMC and MMC, especially a mother trying desperately to break the cycle of generational trauma. Aurora is a fierce and likeable character and you really feel her rage simmering. It’s a tale in who she can truly trust in a kingdom foreign to her. Fighting stigma’s, a true slow burn, rebellion, mystery, political games and a hunt to find her way back.
The world-building is so rich and the twists at the end genuinely took me by surprise, I NEED to know what happens next!
The only downfall for me was the constant mention of people’s eye colour. It’s a small critique but it did really erk me.

I am so so thankful that I was able to receive an ARC copy of A Lie so Pretty and Poisonous, the first installment in the Hallowed Heretic series. I loved the fact that this dark romantasy changed things up and the protagonist was an over thirty mom. There was female rage, and a true slow-burn romance.
Following Rory and Cora who accidentally end up in a forest that they shouldn’t be in everything they think they know changes. Learning who to trust and who not to trust is a game of strategy and even then you can’t always be right. As a reader in my 40s, it was such a breath of fresh air to read a fantasy novel with an FMC in her thirties. Rory is deeply relatable, and her story grabbed me right from the beginning. The world-building is absolute top-tier—I was instantly pulled into this realm. Watching Rory navigate an unfamiliar world full of beings she was raised to fear, all while fiercely trying to protect herself and her child, created such intense, high-stakes tension.
And then there's Darragh. If you love a complex "shadow daddy" character who keeps you guessing, you are in for a treat.
The pacing of this book is electric. The last few chapters had my anxiety through the roof, and that ending?! I was literally left staring at my ceiling, head spinning with all the possibilities of what’s coming next.

Where do I begin. My brain has been on a hamster wheel since I finished, and it just won't switch off. I was not expecting that ending. I nearly threw my Kindle at the wall in my rage. Why oh why did you do that to me Leah? Now I have to wait for book 2 for goodness knows how long.
Rory's relationship with her mother has never been pleasant and she is a piece of work. I just wanted to jump into the book and punch her in the head. I felt so sorry for Rory, how she was made to feel so meek, be completely perfect to fit into society and not allowed to have a voice.
Rory has so much courage, fire and motherly instinct to run away to protect her daughter Cora. And the feminine rage she carries with her, good on her!!!
Gabriel felt like a dirty little scumbag right from the start and someone who you couldn't trust. Sleazeball just had to go and prove me right. As for Darragh, the tension and yearning between him and Rory was so yummy. He got her, he protected her and was always there to keep her from harm. Two faced idiot went and cocked it all up.
I still have some theories bouncing around this fairy brain of mine, let's see if I am right when we get to see book 2.

This book was a wild ride! Aurora the fmc was very relatable to me since she’s a mom over 30 with all sorts of feminine rage. If I could rate this book by Leah a 6+ I would! It’s definitely in my top 5 of the year. If you love a strong female lead who is in her 30s and would literally do anything to keep her child safe, this should be your next read. Rory, the MFC is a force to be reckoned with. Her co-pilot? Her incredible 10 year old, Cora. Their journey is one for the books. This book is filled adventure, mystery, and yearning. “One horse” trope is one of my favs which you will also find in this book. Darragh is a very interesting character. (I’m pretty confident I love him… I think?) The ending will leave you speechless! “Poisoned promises, pretty lies, and tarnished truths are met at each dangerous revelation, and Rory must decide who to trust and who could condemn her to a fate worse than death. “ I’ll be emotionally unstable until the next installment gets released. ✨

It’s taking me a minute to process that last 20%. I honestly thought I knew or could at least tell how and where the story was going, but that last 20% turned everything upside down. For this being a debut novel this is well done. I am happy and refreshed that in the first book we don’t really know what’s going on and we don’t have all the answers that we are most likely going to be getting in book two. It’s a nice change having to work it out as our FMC is also working it out , then just knowing all the answers. I also enjoy the commentary on women’s voices and being heard. I can really tell that it was important topic that the author wanted to address. Looking forward to the answers in book two.

Read in 1 day, could not put this fast paced - high tension book down! Starting with the setting of this book, it’s like walking in a different realm of forests, villages and royal courts. The FMC Rory, is tough, likable (loved her inner monologues) and fiercely protective of her daughter.

The pacing was just right, the plot twists were twisting. Honestly I was read to fight the men in the book on behalf of Rory.
I loved that this was truely a slow burn! If you are looking for that then this is the one for you.
When I tell you I devour this in two days, I’m not lying.

I really enjoyed the story line, another world of seraphs that have "enchants" sign me up. Rory the FMC is a badass. I love her, and the way she handles things, her smart mouth!!! The MMC well I dont particularly like him. The lies he tells are a main part of the story. The only thing I do not like is a cliff hanger so not Im impatiently waiting for a second book.
