Suspended Control by Julie Bawden-Davis is the seventh book in the Suspended Prism series, and once again, Julie proves why she’s one of my favorite authors.
She has an incredible talent for ending every chapter on a cliffhanger. Your adrenaline is pumping, and you have to read the next chapter… and then the next… and before you know it, it’s 2:00 in the morning, and you’re forcing yourself to put the book down so you can get some sleep.
Julie has written two wonderful series, but the Suspended Prism series is definitely my favorite. While I’m not much of a believer in past-life regression or communicating with the dead—it honestly feels a little creepy to me—I still find these stories completely captivating. In fact, sometimes they even make me wonder what it would be like to visit someone like Dr. Strand and see if exploring the past could help explain some of the issues we carry with us.
This story follows Bridgette, who struggles with an explosive temper, irrational jealousy, and an intense hatred for her sister and father. She believes that Sara is having an affair with John, Bridgettes’s boyfriend. At first, you can’t understand why she feels this way, but as she progresses through regression therapy, the pieces of her life begin to fall into place. Watching her gain awareness and understanding was fascinating, and I was completely invested in her journey.
I loved this book. I love all of Julie Bawden-Davis’s books, but this one was especially enjoyable. Normally, I can finish one of her novels in a single day, but life kept getting in the way this time. Even so, I looked forward to every chance I had to pick it back up.
I was given a free copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I highly recommend it to fans of suspense, mystery, and stories that blend psychological intrigue with the possibility of past lives.

‘Suspended Control’ was like being on a roller-coaster ride. Oh my gosh! From purple to black to turquoise doors, to action-packed shenanigans, to jealousy, to helplessness, to a love-triangle, and from centuries-old settings with moats and castles, to the Great Depression, to the present, the plot was suspenseful and tension-filled as the characters participated in past-life regression therapies. Oh, my! Patterns, relationships, and answers were served up in plenty. Plus, a teaser was left for the next book in this dynamic series. Overall, I loved it; even though it wasn’t a genre that I cared for, it was that fascinating.

Sophia is real busy again!
Her client Bridgette needs help with past life regression to come to terms with her weird behavior towards her current boyfriend. However, there are also Ryan and Cathy, whose story lines are developing into an integral part of the whole plot about Sophia and her grandmother’s ability to talk to deceased and access past lives … a mighty good book to read! 👏🏼👍🏼

I loved this book. The characters keep showing more depth and knowledge with each book. The regressions feel real with each new person.

I was so excited to read this book. It was awesome to spend time with the characters again. This book kept me on the edge of my seat until after 2 a.m. I just love how past lives are presented in these stories and how they affect the present. I also love learning more about Sophia's past lives as well as those of people in her life. It's always a wonderful mix that leaves me wanting more!
